Michael Martin Algya, Jr. was born January 18, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska to Michael Martin “Mish” Algya, Sr. and Berniece (Sakalsky) Algya. Mike passed away on June 3, 2007 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 70 years, 4 months, 16 days. Mike was a graduate of Omaha South High School in Omaha, Nebraska. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad, Budweiser, Wilson Concrete; he was an over the road trucker for 20 years. He was employed at Hughes Brothers Manufacturing ; was the owner of Starlight Bar and Grill for 10 years and was employed with The Garbage Company. On April 10, 1970,

Mike was united in marriage to Elva “Jean” Taylor in Lincoln, Nebraska; the couple moved to Seward County in 1971. Mike loved to hunt, fish, dance and cook. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 147 in Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael M. and Berniece Algya, Sr. and a grandson, Brandon Taylor.

Mike is survived by his wife, Jean Algya of Staplehurst; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Diane Algya of Omaha, Martin and Geri Algya of Omaha, Jim Algya of Omaha, Jerry and Deb Taylor of Bradshaw, Mike and Becky Taylor of Staplehurst, Bret and Jenny Taylor of Stromsburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Deb and Mark Caha of Ceresco, Michelle and Larry Mixan of Omaha, Roz and Bill Fritz of Staplehurst, Kathy and Garry Thompson of Lincoln, Kelly Taylor and Bernie Juday of Menasha, WI; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Nancy Algya of Plattsmouth; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, many cousins and a host of friends.

Robert Wm. Jeary
Age - 79

Robert William Jeary was born June 5, 1928 at the Morrow Hospital in Seward, Nebraska to Walter Edwin and Bonalyn Amy (Dixon) Jeary and passed away on June 6, 2007 at the age of 79 years, 1 day. Bob was a 1945 graduate of Seward High School. On September 4, 1949 Bob was united in marriage to Eugenia Nadine Wright at the Methodist Church in Seward. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Beth, Pamela and Clark. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army overseas during the Korean War. He was a lifetime farmer and a rural mail carrier for over 40 years. The family owned and operated a self serve dairy for 25 years.

Bob was a Seward County Commissioner and his love for the land was a driving force to serving on the Soil Conservation, NRD and Seward County Zoning Boards. He was a 50 year member of the Nebraska State Grange, serving as State Steward for 20 years and State Master for 6 years. Bob was a member of American Legion Post No. 125 in David City. Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church for over 50 years serving on many boards of the church, as well as a past Sunday School teacher and former choir member. He was also a member of the Isaak Walton League of Seward. Bob's favorite pastimes were being on bowling and slow pitch softball teams. Recently his favorite things were watching his grandchildren, attending their many athletic and music activities and visiting with the State Senators at the Legislative Breakfasts.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Walter E. and Bonalyn Jeary.

Bob is survived by his wife, Eugenia “Jeannie” Jeary of Seward; daughter, Beth Eberspacher of Lincoln, daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Rick McConnell of Seward, son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Nancy Jeary of Gretna; his grandchildren and their spouses, Clinton Eberspacher of Arlington Heights, IL, Amanda and Chris Kenney of Hastings, Dana and Jason LaBlanc of Omaha, Wendy and James Herrold of Lincoln, Evan Eberspacher currently stationed in Iraq, Alyssa McConnell of Seward, Austin, Brittany, Trent and Bryant Jeary all of Gretna; one great-granddaughter, Nicole Kenney; sister, Virginia Jeary of Seward, sisters and brothers-in-law, Glema and Melvin King of Lincoln, Genevieve and Dale Batchelder of Ridgecrest, CA; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

John Jay Grasmick was born August 29, 1930 in Lincoln, Nebraska to John and Martha (Dreith) Grasmick and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on June 23, 2007, at the age of 76 years, 9 months, 25 days. John was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School; he was a graduate of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with a degree in business and attended the Colorado School of Banking for three years.

On June 29, 1952, John was united in marriage to Jewell Alice Hagel in Omaha, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Amy, John, Ann and William. John was a banker and businessman; he was a member of the United Methodist Church in Seward, the American Horse Show and the North Hills Hunt Club and was a former member of the Seward Rotary Club. John was an avid quail hunter; he raised and trained thoroughbred horses.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha Grasmick and his son, William A. Grasmick.

John is survived by his wife, Jewell Grasmick of Seward; his son, John Grasmick of Garland; his daughters and son-in-law, Amy and Mike Terrell of Geneva and Ann Grasmick of Seward; his six grandchildren, Megan Grasmick, David Grasmick, Jake Grasmick, Margaret Gaskins, Sam Gaskins, Kelsey Wolf; his sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Frank Kuncl of Palo Alto, California; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Pam (Graves) Leet-Hoekzema was born May 27, 1969 to William and Mary (Keller) Graves and passed away near Seward, Nebraska on June 27, 2007 at the age of 38 years, 1 month.

Pam graduated from Riverton High School and graduated from Brown's Business College. Pam recently acquired a Nebraska Real Estate License.

Pam was united in marriage to Dan Hoekzema on June 23, 2001.

She was currently employed at Kuhlman Construction in Seward, Nebraska. She enjoyed golfing, karaoke and spending quality time with friends and family.

Pam is survived by her husband, Dan Hoekzema of Seward; her son, Dylan Leet; her step-daughter, Danielle Hoekzema of Springfield, Illinois; her parents, William and Mary Graves of Riverton, Illinois; her brother Chris Graves of Williamsville, Illinois; her sister and brother-in-law, Lori (Graves) and James Gray of Marion, Illinois; nieces, Delani Graves-Napier and Lexi Gray; and eleven additional nieces and nephews; grandparents and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mary Jane Harding was born June 26, 1912 at Surprise, in Butler County, Nebraska to Pearl Franklin and Lillie Alice (Wise) May. Mary Jane passed away in Omaha, Nebraska on August 14, 2010 at the age of 98 years 1 month, 18 days. Mary Jane attended Omaha Central High School. On July 20, 1929, she was united in marriage to Jacob E. Harding at Papillion, Nebraska and their marriage was blessed with four children, Virginia, Frank, Wanda and Donna. The family lived in various areas in Nebraska due to Jacob's employment with Union Pacific Railroad.
Mary Jane was a member of Royal Neighbors and she attended the United Methodist Church.
Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Lillie May; her husband, Jacob E. Harding; daughters, Wanda Schoenholz and Donna Harding; grandson, Tom Petersen; brothers, Alvie, Virgil, Clarence, Anderson, and Floyd May and sister, Eva Marie Johnson.

Mildred Caroline (Willers) Meinberg was born January 7, 1921 in Seward County, Nebraska to John and Louise (Brinkmeyer) Willers and passed away on September 12, 2006 in Utica, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 8 months, 5 days. Mildred was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. She was a 1938 graduate of Seward High School. On March 12, 1944 Mildred was united in marriage to Walter August Meinberg at Friedens United Church of Christ, Seward. They were the parents of three children, Donald, Gary and Jane. The family farmed southwest of Seward and in 1985, Mildred and Walter moved into Seward. Mildred was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, the Women’s Fellowship Group and Gleaners and held offices in both of these groups.

Preceding Mildred in death were her parents, John and Louise Willers; her husband, Walter Meinberg, in 2001; her son, Donald; brothers, Paul and Fred Willers and sister, Vera Rolfsmeier.

Mildred is survived by her son, Gary Meinberg of Pleasant Dale; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Steve Schnittker of Seward; two grandsons, Jason Schnittker and Jeff and Tiffany Schnittker; her sisters, Louise Bauer and Dorothy Viets, both of Seward; other relatives and a host of friends.

At age 89 years and 16 days Donald L. Lingwall (Don) went to his new Home to be with his Lord. Don was born July 20, 1924 to John and Minnie (Sprenger) Lingwall in Sidney Draw, Sidney, NE. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1942 and served in the US Army /Army Air Corp during WWII. He was united in marriage to Verna Seevers at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sidney, NE on July 13, 1946. Don worked in the grocery business for many years in Sidney, Scottsbluff, NE and most recently worked at Hinky Dinky and Pac-N-Save in Seward, NE. Don was a member of the Seward V.F.W. Post #4755 and Beaver Crossing American Legion Post #178. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, Husker football and especially spending time with his family. Don passed away on August 5, 2013 at Seward Memorial Hospital surrounded by his wife and family. Age: 95 years, 6 months and 21 days
William was born on the family farm near Seward, NE on April 16, 1915, to Wilhelm and Anna (Heidtbrink) Luebbe. Bill attended Immanuel Lutheran School (Middle Creek). On June 7, 1942, Bill was united in marriage to Emma Frieda Gerriets at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Clay Center, KS. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on August 1942 and was discharged on December of 1945. He was a veteran of WWII. Bill farmed near Utica until his retirement. He was a member of the Utica American Legion Post #49 for 64 years and a former member of Concordia University Board of Regents. He is survived by three sons and their wives, William and Mary Luebbe of Utica, NE, Daniel and Gladys Luebbe of Waco, NE and Glenn Luebbe of Utica, NE; daughters and husbands, Betty and Tim Henry of Colorado Springs, CO and Alyce and Russell Reese of Tomball, TX; grandchildren, Thomas Henry, Rebecca (Kevin) Clark, William E (Krista) Evans, Gordon (Emily) Luebbe, Jeana (Andrew) Wood, Jesse Luebbe, Bethany (Mark) Kranz, Ethan Luebbe, Andrew Reese, Rachel (Tim) Gandre, Timothy Reese, Benjamin Reese, Joanna Reese. Davis, Catharine Ilene

Catharine Ilene Davis, 87, of Lincoln, widow of Warren H. Davis, died Sunday (08/16/09), at Lancaster Manor. Born September 28, 1921 to Joseph and Clara (Hoagland) Hickey at Lincoln, Neb. Graduated from Teachers College High School in 1939. Married Warren H. Davis on July 4, 1944. She was a self employed hairdresser for 64 years. Catharine was a member of the Lincoln Women's Chamber of Commerce, Ladies Auxiliary American Legion and the VFW Auxiliary. She was very proud of her volunteer work, which included time at Bryan LGH West and activities as a TeleCare volunteer until 2008. Catharine was a dog lover and enjoyed time with her dog, Mamie.

Family members include her two sons: Robert Davis and wife Shirlene, Lincoln, Neb; William and wife RoseAnn Davis, Lincoln, Neb; nephews: Jim Overturf and wife Karen; Roger Overturf and wife Vickie; Richard Overturf and wife Eva; Joey Overturf and wife Marilyn; grandchildren: Andy Davis and wife Cheryl, Castle Rock, Colo.; Melissa Davis-Schmit and husband Chris, Seward, Neb.; Chad Parsons, New York, N.Y.; Kelly Ems-Wood and husband DJ, Lincoln, Neb.; great granddaughters: Peyton and Ella Davis-Schmit; and special friend Cleo Craigie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Verta Overturf.

Isaac, Maxene

Maxene Isaac, 91, Lincoln, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Eastmont Care Center. Maxene was born 10/4/1917 on a farm near Greenwood and raised on a farm near Ashland. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1934.

Maxene worked at First Federal Bank in Ashland until her marriage. She married George D. Isaac on 1/6/1946 and they moved to Lincoln. Maxene worked for Federated Finance and then Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. She retired from Goodyear in 1975. Maxene was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She loved travel, boating, fishing and camping.

She is survived by her husband, George D. Isaac of Lincoln and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nettie (Weaver) Blackman of Ashland; and sisters Helen B. Storer of Waco, Texas and Doris M. Zeleny of Sigourney, Iowa.

Services 10 a.m. Wednesday (8/19/09), Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street. Interment Lincoln Memorial Park. Memorials to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Janet M. Souchek, 87, Seward, widow of Russell A. Souchek, died Thursday (08/13/09). Born August 24, 1921 in Seward, Neb. to Dr. Bert and Edith (Franzen) Morrow. 1940 Graduate of Seward High School; 1949 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan; member of the Seward United Methodist Church, Busy Hour Extension.

Dean C. Schied, 83, Raymond, died Sunday (8-16-09) in Waverly. Born (8-17-25) in Chicago, Ill. to Peter and Frankie (Anderson) Schied. He attended high school in Cody, Neb. After graduation, he joined the Navy and served as a medic. He married his wife, Dorthy, on September 21, 1945, and they have been inseparable since that time. Soon after their marriage, they purchased an upholstery business in Lincoln. Wanting to return to his farming roots, Dean started building a farm north of Lincoln. Eventually he expanded his operation to include a ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska, near Cody. Dean was always passionate about his work and his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by Dorthy, his wife of 62 years; son, daughter-in-law: Stanley and Kim, Callaway, Neb.; daughters, sons-in-law: Pat and John Pittman, Raymond, Neb.; Judy and Ron Weichbrodt, Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren: Mike and Jennifer Schied, Greenwood, Neb.; Brian and Sarah Schied, Cody, Neb.; Colton Schied, Callaway, Neb.; Kristy and husband John Herrington, Edgewater, N.J.; Rick Schied, Raymond, Neb.; Jessica Weichbrodt, Omaha, Neb.; brothers, sisters-in-law: Dick and Natalie Schied, Apache Junction, Ariz.; Charles Faubion, San Diego, Calif.; Frank and Grace Faubion, Reeds Springs, Mo.; sisters, brothers-in-law: Inga and Pete Gonzalez, Dallas, Texas; Marlene and Dale Flowerday, Lincoln, Neb.; Russ and Joyce Comstock, Dallas, Texas; special friend of the family, Suzie Schied. Preceded in death by parents; son, Ronald Schied; sister, Alice Monnier.

Memorial Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday (8-19-09) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 "O" Street. Graveside service to be held 11 a.m. Friday (8-21-09) in the Cody cemetery, Cody, Nebraska. Memorials to the family for future designation. No visitation, cremation.
