Terrill Terry L. Bundy

Terrill "Terry" L. Bundy, 60, Lincoln, died Sunday (8-16-09). Born (4-20-49) in Newcastle, Pa. to Roger Henry and Doris Irene (Wendt) Bundy. He was the oldest of four children. Soon after his birth, his parents returned to Nebraska, and made their home in Tekamah, where his father was a jeweler. Terry attended Tekamah Public Schools and graduated in 1967. At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Terry received his B.S. in 1971 and his master's degree in 1973, both in electrical engineering. In 1972, Terry joined Lincoln Electric System (LES) as a part-time employee, and after receiving his master's degree, was hired full-time. During his 37 years at LES, he held nine different posts, and was the Administrator and CEO for the past 12 years. He represented LES and the public power industry on various boards and committees on a local, regional and national basis. In 2008, he received the James D. Donovan Individual Achievement Award from the American Public Power Association. The LES Administrative Board renamed the Salt Valley Generating Station the Terry Bundy Generating Station in honor of his dedication, leadership, and successful career at LES, and his contributions to public power and to electric reliability on a regional and national basis. He has been dedicated to his work and his belief that public power is in the best interests of the people receiving electric service. Terry married Constance (Connie) Deann Scheel of Sioux Falls, S.D., on August 13, 1977. They made their home in Lincoln, and have a daughter, Alyssa Deann Bundy. In his free time, Terry loved photography, golfing and creating projects in his workshop. He especially enjoyed spending time working with computers and information technology. Terry was a kind and gracious man who thrived on problem solving and patiently worked to strengthen the Lincoln community through finding common ground. Terry was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. He was also a member of numerous professional organizations, including the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the North American Reliability Council, Midwest Independent System Organization and the Midwest Reliability Organization Board. Terry also served on the Board of Directors of the Nebraska Municipal Power Pool, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Nebraska Utility Corporation, Nebraska Power Association, District Energy Corporation, and MAPPCOR. He served on the following committees: the Executive Committee of Mid-Continent Area Power Pool (MAPP), American Public Power Association System Planning Committee, Missouri Basin Systems Group Planning Committee, Missouri Basin Power Project (MBPP) Management Committee, and Transmission Access Policy (TAPS) Management Committee. He served on the Industry Advisory Board Panel to the Computer Science Department at UNL.

He was preceded in death by his father. He leaves his wife, Connie and daughter, Alyssa. Other family members are his mother, Doris (Joe) Dye; sister, Susan (Mike) McAllister; brother: Randy (Carol) Bundy; and sister, Linda (Ed) Weber.

Memorial service: 2 p.m. Thursday (8-20-09) St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd. Pastor Ray Norris officiating. Memorials to the family for future designation. Visitation: 2 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Roper and Sons, 4300 "O" Street.

Mitchell, Michael Edward Carr

Michael Edward Carr- Mitchell, age 13, of Chicago, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009.

Anthony T. "Tony" Kettler

Anthony T. "Tony" Kettler, 86, Lincoln, died peacefully in the presence of his family on Monday (8/10/2009), in Lincoln, Neb.

He will be lovingly remembered by his family, fondly recalled by his friends and truly missed by all who knew him.

Born June 1, 1923 in Omaha, Neb. to Anton and Bertha Kettler, Tony attended Catholic schools in Omaha, graduating from Creighton Prep in 1941.

A Veteran of military service in the Army Air Corps from 1943-45, he was awarded an Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters.

He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1949 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Tony Married Opal Wiles in 1952 and together they raised a family of six children, (4 boys, 2 girls). As a Registered Electrical Engineer, Tony worked in the public power industry of Nebraska from 1950 to 1988 and included positions with NPPD, Consumers Public Power, and Lincoln Electric System, where he retired as Operations Manager. A member of St. Teresa's Parish of Lincoln, Tony was active in church activites and affairs.

In retirement Tony was actively involved with the Golden K Kiwanis Club of Lincoln, the Tabitha "Meals on Wheels" program, and was a regular volunteer in second grade classrooms at Holmes Elementary School.

Tony is survived by his wife, Opal Kettler, and children, Joseph and wife Karen, Penrose, Colo.; daughter Janice and husband Je Goolsby, Santa Barbara, Calif.; son Thomas and wife Rena, Lincoln; daughter Teresa Durrant, Lincoln; son Timothy and wife Sally, Lincoln; son John and wife Nanci, Lincoln; and grandchildren, Thomas Kettler Jr., Wichita, Kan.; Anne Meyers, Westminster, Colo., Nicholas, Jonathon, and Kimberly Kettler, Hurst, Texas; Casey and Kyle Kettler, Alex Durrant, Corey Anne Sheesly, and Nathaniel Kettler, all of Lincoln.

Services will be Tuesday (08/18/09), beginning with a 9 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, 735 S. 36th Street, Lincoln, followed by an 11 a.m. Memorial Service at Wyuka cemetery and Funeral Home, 3600 "O" St.

Schmit, Minnie Ellen

Minnie Ellen Schmit, 95, died Thursday (08/13/09) at the Beatrice Manor Care Center. Born at rural Rockford, Neb.

She is survived by daughter: Ella Mae Mason-Manske, Tecumseh; son: Ralph, Wahoo; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, five step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services 2 p.m. Monday (08/17/09), at the Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in the Virginia cemetery, Virginia, Neb. Visitation will be held at the Harman-Wright Mortuary on Sunday afternoon from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Memorial is established to the family choice with the mortuary in charge. Parde, Tena W.

Tena W. Parde, 95, of Beatrice, died Thursday (08/13/09). She was born August 5, 1914, at rural Filley, and married to John E. Parde on February 20, 1938. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church of Pickrell.

Survivors include one son, Harold Parde, and wife Meredith, Hickman; daughter-in-law, Verna Parde, Arlington; five grandchildren, Sheryl Schaaf and husband Bryan of Lincoln; Sue Dawson and husband Reid of Lincoln; Rita Ortmeier and husband Roger of Elkhorn; Randy Daubendiek and wife Danelle of Elkhorn; Renee Wulf of Blair; nine great-grandchildren, Rhett and Ric Dawson, Mason, Brody and Millie Ortmeier, Valerie, Stephanie and Courtney Wulf and Jocelyn Daubendiek; three sisters, Meta Otto of Pickrell; Louise Parde and Clara Buss both of Adams; three sisters-in-law, LaVerna Fitzgerald of Parker, Colo., Leona Parde of Hickman, Arlene Parde of Adams.

Funeral services 10:30 a.m. Monday (08/17/09) at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran cemetery of rural Pickrell. A family service will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Monday in the fellowship room of the church. A memorial has been established to Zion Lutheran Church or Mosaic, with Alan Wiese and Leonard Buhr in charge. LeSeur, Irene Leona (Karas)

Irene Leona (Karas) LeSeur, 85, of Pawnee City, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Pawnee Manor. She was born on 10/28/1923 in Table Rock to Lewis and Emma (Hubka) Karas.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Stoddard of Panama; brother, Robert Karas of Pawnee City; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Flach of Warrensburg, Ill.; three grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.

Buechel, Richard "Dick"

Richard "Dick" Buechel, 87, Lincoln, died Wednesday (8/12/09. Retired Chief Draftsman with Nebraska Public Power District. World War II Army Veteran. Member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cheney. He had a great passion for family, cars, and hunting.

Survivors: wife of 62 years, Doris; daughters: Kathleen (John) Carmichael and Barbara Wiggins, both of Lincoln; sons: Don of St. Louis, Mo.; John of Lincoln; Larry (Randee) of Kansas City, Mo.; Gerald (Jeannette) of Philadelphia, Pa., and Thomas (Patti) of Lincoln; grandchildren: Brad, Meggan (Joe), Charity (Micheal), Nichola, Emma, Christopher, Michael, Jack, and Baylee; two great grandchildren: Sophia and Aidan; sister: Frances Kaczmarek of Omaha. Snelling, Allan L. "Howie"

Allan L. "Howie" Snelling, 61 of Wahoo, died Thursday, August 13, 2009 at his home. He was born 6/21/1948 in Wahoo to Henry and Rosella (Ohm) Snelling. Allan enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Okinawa during the Vietnam War and was assigned to the Optical Division of the Army Medical Materiel Agency where he fabricated lenses for eye glasses. This turned into a career for Howie following his Honorable Discharge in 1971.

Allan is survived by his wife, Arlinda of Wahoo; children, Heather Perkins of Wahoo, Shannon Snelling of Dallas, Texas, Clay Snelling of Wahoo, Mitch Snelling of Wahoo; mother, Rose Snelling of Wahoo; brother, Steve Snelling of Fremont; 5 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday (8/17/09) at First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo. Visitation will be held Sunday, 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hospice and Home Health of Saunders County, or to the family. Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pieper-Ahrens, Margie D.

Margie D. Pieper-Ahrens, 80, York, died Monday (08/10/09) at York. She was born at York to Arthur and Beulah (Wright) Bredenkamp.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne, York; her son, Terry Ahrens, North Platte; and her daughter Debra Hill, Bellevue; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; stepdaughter, Kathryn DeSantiago, Seward; stepson, Jon Pieper, York; five step granddaughters and two step grandsons.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday (08/14/09) at Faith Lutheran Church in York. Burial in York's Greenwood cemetery. Visitation begins after 5 p.m. Wednesday. Inderlied, Dorothy "Jean"

Dorothy "Jean" Inderlied, 89, was called home to heaven Tuesday (08/04/09). Jean was born on March 21, 1920 to Robert and Minnie Nicholas at their home in rural DeWitt. She attended DeWitt High School where she met her husband of 72 years Dale Inderlied.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Inderlied, DeWitt; son, Robert Inderlied; daughter, Barbara and husband Tad Vergith, all of DeWitt; grandchildren, Pam and Bob Duchek, Dorchester; Gary and Bonnie Vergith, Western; Mike and Brenda Inderlied, Dorchester; great grandchildren, Carmen Duchek and fiance James Murry, Lincoln; Wendy and Mark Sullivan, Beatrice; Dee Schroeder and Special friend Adam Drake, Wilber; Janelle Vergith, Western; Joshua, Jordan and Jeremy, Dorchester; six great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Jo Anne Matzner, 39, York, died Monday (08/03/09) at Lincoln. She was born at York to Donald L. and Peggy J. (Dearing) Matzner. Jo Anne worked at the Mosiac Workshop in York.

Patricia Joan White, 72, Lincoln, passed peacefully in her sleep Saturday (8/1/09).

White, James Stephen "Jim

James Stephen "Jim" White, 77, Gilbert, Ariz., passed away July 22, 2009 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Jim was born 10/2/31 in York to Elven and Cecelia White and graduated from Atkinson High School and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. On August 23, 1951 Jim married Maxine Froding in Norfolk. Jim served as a Corporal in the Army during Korean War, receiving Korean Service medal with one bronze service star, the United Nations Service medal and National Defense Service medal.Jim and Maxine retired to Lincoln, where he opened a business for five years at 70th and O called White's C Store, which was a gas and convenience store. For almost his entire life Jim was a huge Nebraska football fan and supporter.

Jim is survived by his four sons: Steve, Peoria, Ariz.; Greg, Austin, Texas; Terry, Franklin, Tenn.; and Mike, Chandler, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Richard, York; and Maxine White, Lincoln,

Services were held at Heritage Memorial Chapel in Peoria, Ariz. with interment at the National Memorial cemetery of Arizona for Veterans in Phoenix.

Clark, Johnny Edward LT COL, USAF (Ret.)

Johnny Edward Clark LT COL, USAF (Ret.), September 2, 1923 - July 30, 2009, of Papillion, passed away at Hospice House, Josie Harper Residence, Omaha. Johnny was born in Cresco, Iowa, a son of John C. and Anastasia (Moudry) Clark. He married Gloria A. Walsh on Nov 5, 1946. She preceded him in death as did his parents, his brother Joseph, his sister Mariann Hidding and brother-in-law Thomas Hidding. He married Joan (Pewsey) Stickrod Sept 5, 1998. She survives. Survivors also include his daughter, Kathleen Newman (Tom) of Champaign Ill. and son, John Joseph Clark (Janet) of Lincoln. Also surviving are his brother-in-law Larry Walsh of San Diego Calif., sister-in-law Martha Clark of Cresco Iowa, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Johnny 's life was forever changed by World War II when his farm-boy aspirations of becoming a pilot were fulfilled by entering the Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet program right out of high school. He was proud to serve his country for 22 years in the Air Force, piloting over 20 types of planes from B-17 to B-47s, with over 8000 hours of flying time. During his service he enjoyed living abroad in England (during WW II), Germany (during the Berlin Airlift), and Italy. Johnny put himself though the military's "bootstrap" program, earning a B.S. general education & economics at the Univ. of Nebraska-Omaha and a Masters in economic development from the U of Oklahoma.

After his retirement from the Air Force at the ripe old age of 42, he began a 20-year career as an Industrial Developer with Northern Natural Gas Company in Omaha, from which he retired in 1985. He enjoyed reading historical nonfiction, gardening, hunting, fishing, flying, attending air shows, listening to classical and polka music, and traveling. Throughout his life he was a globetrotter, making several trips to Russia, Europe, Australia, Canada, Mexico, and around the U.S. Johnny was proud of his Czech ancestry. He loved the sun and liked being a Winter Texan with Joan, in the Enchanted Village Ranch in Mission, Texas. In 2005 he published his biography, "From Hayseed to Jet Pilot and Beyond, " for which his family is forever grateful.

Jennifer Jo Duchek, 27, Crete, passed away Monday (07/27/09). Born to Bobby and Pamela (Vergith) Duchek.

Rueben J. Coonrod, 93, Belleville, Kan., passed away Monday, (7/27/09) at Topeka, Kan. He was born October 25, 1915 at Narka, Kan.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday (8/3/09) at First United Methodist Church, Belleville, Kans. Interment will be in Bellevill cemetery, Belleville. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, Belleville.Visitation: friends may call Friday, Saturday from 9 a.m to 9 p.m.; Sunday from 1 p.m to 9 p.m at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Eberspacher, Jack E.

Jack E. Eberspacher, 55, Vienna, Va., passed away on July 5, 2009 following a brief but courageous battle with brain cancer.

CORRECTION: A celebration of life for Jack E. Eberspacher will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday (8/2/09) at the Ag Pavilion located at the Seward County Fairgrounds, 500 N 14th St, Seward, Neb. The family of Jack invites everyone to gather and celebrate the memories of his life.
