She was born in Howells, Nebraska on October 24th, 1935. She was married
to Leonard Langhorst for 54 years. She was a teacher for a short time prior to being a full time house wife and mother of fourteen children. She enjoyed needle work, specifically tatting, and was a member of the Ring of Tatters. She also spent much of her time reading and writing short stories and musings, many of which were published.
Visitation: Cremation. No visitation.
Service: Rosary & Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, 12/29/12 at 9:30am at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ, 3500 Sheridan Blvd, Lincoln, Nebraska. Light luncheon to follow.

Daughters-- Catherine Langhorst of Denver, Colorado, Rose Schumacher of Layton, Utah, Dianne Maggio of Dallas, Texas, Gloria Pospisil of Morse Bluff, Nebraska, Bernadette Palaez of Castle Rock, Colorado, Iva Crane of Weatherford, Texas, Carol James of Woodbridge, Virginia and Bonnie Winslow of Hudson, New Hampshire. Sibling—Barb Grady of Houston, Texas, twenty two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Anna Kovar, her husband, Leonard Langhorst, infant daughter, Therese and son, Jim.

Randy Lee Moniz Thomas
passed away July 10, 2007
Randy Lee Moniz Thomas, age 50, Lincoln, entered into rest at his home on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 with his loved ones at his side. Randy and his twin brother Ralph were born in Winnebago, Nebraska to Joseph and Pearl Moniz on January 22, 1957. Randy and Ralph were raised on the Santee Indian reservation by their uncle Albert and Linda Thomas. Randy attended several schools including Bishop Hare Home in Mission, South Dakota, Boys Town, and Niobrara Public School. Randy left the reservation many years ago making his home in Grand Island, Walthill and many years in Lincoln, Nebraska. Randy married
the love of his life, Cindy Hawk, on May 15, 1990. To this union were born three children, his son Joe, and two daughters Amanda and Allison. Randy has two other children from prior marriages, Tammy of Grand Island and Rebecca of Central City.
Randy has been politically active throughout his life from being a participation member of Indian peoples who occupied land known as the Yellow Thunder Camp in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Randy was also one of the first to decry the mistreatment of Native American remains at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska, actively pursuing justice for the department by returning them to Mother Earth never to be disturbed again. He was the co-author of the concept of “group affiliation” which allowed sixteen Great Plains Tribes to claim and re-bury Indian remains held hostage by the University of Nebraska. Randy enjoyed many personal friendships with the Nebraska state senators, most notably, Senator Dwight Pedersen of Elkhorn. Randy’s opinion on Indian issues was often sought after by many senators. His honesty was valued by many of these senators and his view respected by all.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Cindy and five children Joseph, Amanda and a Allison of Lincoln, Tammy of Grand Island and Rebecca of Central City. Randy has a very special twin brother Ralph and his wife Lana and children Erica and Amanda of Asheville, North Carolina, Ralph’s children Eliza, Jay and Travis Thomas.
Also surviving are Randy’s brothers Joseph and Matt, both of Walthill; sisters Donna, Sherry, Tracy, Mary, Joyce and Barb all of Walthill; father-in-law and mother-in-law Merlyn and Sheryl Chambers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Landon, Lisa and son Lukas, and Jason, Amy and son Hunter and daughter Kourtney, all of Chadron, Nebraska. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive Randy.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Pearl Moniz, adopted parents Albert and Linda Thomas, brothers John and Ray, sister Florinda and brother-in-law Miquel.

She was a hairdresser for many years and a cement finisher for a brief time. She was a board member of the Indian Center, Inc. Her greatest accomplishment was being the mother of Avery and Zoe.

Wayne Arthur Shaneyfelt
passed away April 6, 2006
Wayne Shaneyfelt, 89, long time resident of Aurora, died April 6, 2006 in Lincoln.
Wayne Arthur Shaneyfelt, son of John and Elizabeth Shaneyfelt, was born on January 21, 1917 in Rhame, North Dakota. At age six his family moved to Aurora, where he lived until moving to Lincoln in 2004.
He graduated from Aurora High School in 1935. After working at the family business, Shaneyfelt Produce, he began his career with the U.S. Postal Service, as a substitute letter carrier in 1936. He received a full-time appointment as postal clerk in 1939. Wayne’s Postal career was interrupted by World War II, and he was drafted in March 1941. During his five years in the Army Air Corp. he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant, spending most of his military time in charge of medical records at Lowry Field Base Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
He married
Ethel Maree Beins at her family farm on September 21, 1941. The couple spent their early-married
life in Denver. At the end of the war, they returned to Aurora and he resumed work at the Post Office. “Shaney, ” as he was known, was promoted to Postmaster in 1956, serving in that capacity until retiring in 1975.
Wayne was a faithful member of the First Christian Church, Rotary, American Legion, Hamilton Community Foundation and other civic organizations.
Visitation: Cremation. No visitation.
Service: A memorial service will be held on April 18, 2006 at 1:30 p.m.
Location: Aurora First Christian Church in Aurora
Memorials: A memorial fund has been established at the Hamilton Community Foundation, in his honor.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Maree of Lincoln; daughter Rita Bring of Lincoln and husband Lee; son Randy Shaneyfelt of Loch Lloyd, MO and wife Audrey; granddaughters Angie Bring of Orlando, FL and Ashley Shaneyfelt of Lawrence, KS; grandsons Chad Bring of Omaha and Drew Shaneyfelt of Mission, KS;
sisters Gladys Swanson of Bassett and Lois Buttermore of North Platte; brothers Lyle of Aurora and Glenn of Norfolk.
Wayne was preceded in death by infant sister Agnes, sister Lucille and brother George, killed in action in World War II.
