Richard “Dick” Buechel, 87 years of age of Lincoln, died Wednesday, 8/12/09. Retired Chief Draftsman with Nebraska Public Power District, World War II Army Veteran, Member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cheney. He had a great passion for family, cars, and hunting.

Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Doris; daughters: Kathleen (John) Carmichael and Barbara Wiggins both of Lincoln; sons: Don of St. Louis, Missouri, John of Lincoln, Larry (Randee) of Kansas City, Missouri, Gerald (Jeannette) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Thomas (Patti) of Lincoln; Grandchildren: Brad, Meggan (Joe), Charity (Micheal), Nichola, Emma, Christopher, Michael, Jack, and Baylee; 2 Great Grandchildren: Sophia and Aidan; Sister: Frances Kaczmarek of Omaha.

Preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 1 brother

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Monday, 8/17/09 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Cheney, Nebraska with Father Kenneth Borowiak officiating. Rosary: 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Burial: Lincoln Memorial Park

Stahly, Gertrude L.

Gertrude L. Stahly, 92, of Hickman, died September 23, 2009. Mrs. Stahly was born Gertrude Louise Egger on December 2, 1916 to Fred & Edna L. (Veeder) Egger in Lincoln. She was a homemaker.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ivan Remmenga; son, Ivan (Sonny) Remmenga; sisters, Helen Bergfeld & Myra Hochheim; grandchildren, Bradley Beedle & Nathan Stahly.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of the home; children, Merna Beedle of Twin Falls, ID, Ruth Daharsh of cozad, John Stahly of Lincoln, Mary Robinson of York; sisters, Alice LaScala of Crete, Vera Strader of Sonoma, CA; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 1:30 PM on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Hickman Presbyterian Church. Pastor Robert Fields will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Hickman Presbyterian cemetery.

Visitation will be 12:00P-8:00P on Sunday at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 211 East 1st Street, Hickman 68372.

The family will greet friends from 3:00P-5:00P.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Standlea, Carol Naomi

Carol Naomi Standlea, 70, of Lincoln, died Monday, February 23, 2009. She is survived by her sister, Joanne Saner of Alda, NE. Graveside services will be 10:30 am Saturday, July 18 in the Purdum cemetery, Purdum, Nebraska.

Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements

Annetta TerMaat

Annetta TerMaat, 88, of Firth, died April 11, 2009.

Annetta was born October 31, 1920 to Gradus & Harriett (Spinden) VanDerVliet in Hull, IA.

Annetta was a farmer’s wife and painter.

Survivors include two sons, Glenden & wife Patricia of Hickman, John of Lincoln; a daughter, Norma Maler & Lee of Firth; a twin sister, Henrietta Meendering of Martinsville, IA; a brother, Herman VanDerVliet of Hull, IA; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Annetta was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters; two brothers; one granddaughter.

Funeral Services will be 1:30 PM on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Holland Reformed Church. Pastor Vic Folkert will officiate. Interment will follow in the Holland cemetery.

Visitation will be 12:00P-9:00P at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 211 E. 1st Street, Hickman, NE. The family will receive friends from 6:00P-8:00P.

Memorials are suggested to the Holland Reformed Church or the Lakeview Nursing Home in Firth.

Duncan, Joyce O.

Joyce O. Duncan, 91, of Lincoln, formerly of Sioux City, IA, died Friday, August 28th in Lincoln. Joyce was born on April 15, 1918 in Sioux City to Alfred & Alma (Lowe) Olson. Joyce had a passion for music and was an accomplished concert pianist. She was a member of BPW and a lifetime member as well as an organist and choir director at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Deborah DeLange-Mahoney of Lincoln; grandchildren, Michael DeLange of Omaha, Michelle Michener & husband William of Lincoln, David DeLange & wife Lindsay of Omaha and Paul Mahoney of Lincoln; great grandchildren, Emma DeLange, Peyton Michener, Turner DeLange and Landyn Mahoney; brother, Wendell Olson of Lincoln and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Olson and sister, Florence Hornby-Mikkelson.

Memorial services will be 10 am Wednesday at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln, NE, with Chaplain Jerry Scheffler officiating. No viewing or visitation. Burial will be at Noon Thursday in Graceland cemetery, Sioux City, IA.

Memorials are suggested to The Joyce O. Duncan family for later designation.

Gunter, Devan Scott

Devan Scott Gunter, 25, born November 10, 1983 to Keith and Susan Guth Gunter; passed away at his home in Lincoln, September 8, 2009.

He married Andrea Marie Williamson, daughter of Lonnie and Carmen Williamson, Mena, AR, March 6, 2009 in Lincoln.

He attended High School at Northeast High School in Lincoln, but was graduated in FL.

He was currently serving in the U. S. Army National Guard.

Preceded in death by his grandparents: Floyd and Fern Gunter; Thomas and Dorothy Guth.

Survivors: His wife Andrea of the home; mother Susan Gunter, Lincoln; father Keith Gunter, Miami, FL;

brothers, Bryan Gunter (Lisa), Roca, Darren and Todd of Lincoln; nieces; Savanna and Gabbi, Roca.

Visitation: Friday Sept. 11, 9am – 9pm with family present from 6-8 P.M. Butherus, Maser Love 4040 “A” St. Lincoln. Services Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment at Roca cemetery, Roca, NE.

Celebration of life will be at 1410 Deer Trail, Roca following interment.

Lyle enjoyed a richness of life brought on by his desire to meet and converse with those he came in contact with. If you’ve had a garage sale or an auction, he’s probably been to your house or farm. His priorities include family, friends, and Hope Community Church, but his ultimate desire was to serve his Lord and Master, Jesus Christ. We rejoice that now he has met him face to face.

Miles James Crawford

Miles James Crawford, 15 months, 3 weeks & 2 days, of Lincoln, died Saturday, May 30, in Rochester, Minnesota after a battle with a brain stem tumor. He was a beautiful little fellow that was born on February 7, 2008 in Lincoln. He is survived by his sisters, Zoë J. Hartung and Tyme M. Crawford; his parents, James & Caroline Crawford; his grandparents, Steve and Georgi Hartung; aunts and uncles, Nick Hartung, Tim Crawford, Don Snow, Joy Madison, Reba Sirwet, Joyce Walker and Tony Walsh and many other loving family members. Miles brought a light & joy that mom, dad and the whole family will never forget and will always cherish. We love you Miles forever and ever our beautiful son. We loved you yesterday, we love you today and we will love you tomorrow and forever.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Thursday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 7601 Vine Street, Lincoln with Father Lyle Johnson Officiating. A Rosary service will be 7 pm Wednesday at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln. Visitation will be from Noon – 9 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Lincoln, NE.

Mary K."Blondie" Grasmick

Mary K. ‘Blondie’ Grasmick, 101, of Lincoln, died Saturday, June 13 in Lincoln. Mary was born in Lincoln on March 21, 1908 to John G. & Catherine (Reel) Knaub. She was a member of Faith United Church of Christ and a 50-year member of both the Daughters of the Nile, Naphis Temple #66 and the Order of Eastern Star, Starcraft Chapter #307.

Mary is survived by her sisters, Katheryn Worster of Lincoln, Flora Fox of Las Vegas, NV & Geraldine Pitts of Harrison, AR and many loving Nieces & Nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry H. Grasmick; brothers, George, Alex & Gerald Knaub; sisters, Irene Knaub, Lydia Quattrocchi & Clara Young.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Nancy Erickson officiating. Visitation will be from 9am to 9 pm with family present from 5-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Tabitha Hospice.

Vivian B. Nichols

Vivian B. Nichols, 108 of Lincoln, died Wednesday, June 24. Vivian was born on July 29, 1900 in rural Palmyra, NE to William & Luna (Dunkle) Quinn. She was a graduate of the University of Nebraska and later received her Masters from Washburn University in Topeka, KS. She was a member of First-Plymouth Congregational Church, Temple Chapter of Eastern Star & a life member of the UNL Alumni Association. She was a former District Advisor for the Girl Scouts in Danville, IL. She also received the ‘Thanks Badge’ from the Girls Scouts.

Vivian is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Scott of Omaha, son, Roger Nichols of Lincoln, grandchildren, Judy Nemetz & husband Gene, Bill Boehmer, Michael Boehmer & wife Cindy & Janis Boehmer, 8 great grandchildren & 7 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maynard L. Nichols, siblings, Mable Quinn Foreman, James McKinney Quinn, William Dewey Quinn, Mary Quinn Trumble & Ivan Curtis Quinn.

Services will be 10 am Monday at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home in Lincoln with the Rev. Barbara Smisek officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9am – 9 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Cox, Michael L.

Michael L. Cox, Age 57, passed away Monday, September 7, after a valiant year long battle with cancer.

Michael was born on January 23, 1952 to Georgia & Ralph Cox in Midland Texas. He moved to Lincoln in 1964, graduated Lincoln High School in 1970. Married his wife Linda Taladay in 1972. Mike worked as Post Production Manager for the Lincoln Journal Star for 38 years. He was a licensed falconer for 35 years and served as president of the Nebraska Falconers Association for many years. The 3 loves of his life were his family, falconry and his job.

Michael is survived by his wife of 36 years Linda-Lincoln; son, Todd Cox and Fiancé Jane Crowley – Lincoln; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim & Luella Cox –Lincoln and Ron & Lynn Cox - Wamego, Kansas; sisters & brothers-in-law, Teri Carlson & Kevin Keist and Jill &Gary Brown - Hutchinson, Kansas; brother-in-law, David & Marcell Taladay – Lincoln; sister-in-law, Karen Taladay; extended family friend, Chris Michael; mother-in-law, Kathleen Taladay and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Ann Cox and Father Ralph Eugene Cox

Memorial Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday (9-14-09) at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln, NE with the Rev. George Lockyer officiating. Luncheon to be held at Fraternal Order of Eagles, 500 W. Industrial Lake Dr at 11:30 am following the service. Cremation, No viewing or visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Michael L. Cox family for later designation.

A gathering of family & friends to honor and celebrate Michael’s life will be held on Wednesday, Sept 30th at 5:30 P.M. at Barry’s Bar & Grill, 9th & P Street in Lincoln.
