Elizabeth Ann Steinson
STEINSON - Elizabeth Ann, beloved wife of John Alexander Steinson, Jr. died 5/26/01 at the Hamilton Manor, Aurora, NE. In addition to John, Ann is survived by three daughters, Nancy Brasel (David), Christopher and Michael Brasel, St. Paul, MN, Heather, Nicholas and Alexander Wurtz, Pasadena, CA, Mary Steinson (Jerry Storck), Jane and Susan Storck, St. Paul, MN, Barbara Steinson (John Schlotterbeck), Marian and Jesse Schlotterbeck, Greencastle, IN. They were members of Dundee Presbyterian Church and joined the First Presbyterian Church, Grand Island.
A memorial service will be held at 10: 30 am on Sat., 6/2/01, at the First Presbyterian Church, Grand Island, NE with the Reverend Sheryl Lamb officiating. Memorial donations may be given to the First Presbyterian Church, Grand Island. There will be no visitation. Family members will receive visitors after the service. No Services were held. There was cremation. Burial of cremains will be in Westlawn Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery, Omaha, NE.

Darryl Galusha
Darryl Duane Galusha, 56, of Wilber, formerly of Milford, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Integrated Health Services Nursing Home in Milford.
He was born Dec. 9, 1943, in Lincoln and was adopted at a young age by Everett and Edith (Rich) Galusha. They resided near Thayer in York County. He was later married
to Donna Brackhan and to this union three children were born. Together they lived in York where he was employed at York Packing as a meat cutter.
He was disabled following an automobile accident in the 1970s, but he continued to do various jobs, such as mowing lawns or sorting seed corn in the fall. He recently resided at the Czech Village in Wilber.
Survivors include his son, Dusty Galusha of Minden; daughters, Cherrie (Delmar) Gross of Lind, Kan.; Charity (Duncan) Atwell of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren; a sister, Alyce Jones of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a nephew, Everett J. Cuevas; several aunts; many cousins; and a special friend, Jim Tachovsky of Wilber.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 10: 30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home in Friend, with the Rev. Bill Ryden officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 15, and until service time on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home in Friend. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery at Thayer.
Memorials may be directed in care of the family.

Ruth H. Lloyd
Ruth H. Lloyd, 78, of York, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000 at York.
She was born June 28, 1922 at Osceola to Gothard "Ole" and Martha (Lundgren) Nelson and was a member of the First Evangelical Church in York.
She was formerly employed as a sales clerk at J.C. Penney in York for many years and was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, was an avid gardener, loved to crochet and enjoyed fishing.
She is survived by one son, Larry (Sandy) Penner of Lone Tree, Colo.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Marvin (Gwen) Nelson of Fairbury, Joe (Irene) Nelson of Shingles Springs, Calif., and David Nelson of York; cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Herman Penner and Rex Lloyd; one son, Dennis; two brothers; a half-brother; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Dick Woolard officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery in York. Visitation begins after 5 p.m., Monday, Aug. 14, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15. There will be no viewing of the body at the church prior to services.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, to the church or to the family.

Orena Woodruff
Orena L. Woodruff, 99, of York, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000 at York.
She was born April 4, 1901 at Bath, Ill., to Henry and Katherine (Spelker) Kolves. She moved to Beaver City as a child and graduated from Beaver City High School in 1918. On June 4, 1923, she was married
to Stanley Woodruff at Beaver City and he died in 1936.
She was a graduate of Kearney State College and taught in Beaver City Schools for 35 years, retiring in York in 1966. She was a substitute teacher in York for many years afterward. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York, P.E.O., Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma, American Legion Auxiliary and the York Garden Club.
She is survived by one son, W. Clarke (Joan) Woodruff of York; two grandchildren, Susan (Gary) Root of Waverly and Robert (Barbara) Woodruff of York; five great-grandchildren, Adam and Nathan Root of Waverly and Blake, Chase and Sydney Woodruff of York; two sisters, Henrietta Woodruff of Long Island, Kan., and Hazel (Leland) Mackprang of Palm Springs, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 17, at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Rev. Ralph Ford officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2: 30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 17, at the Deaver cemetery at Stanford. Memorials may be directed to the church. Metz Mortuary of York is in charge of the arrangements.
Jack Slocum Sr.
Geneva resident, 80
Jack D. Slocum Sr., 80, of Geneva died on March 12, 2001, in Geneva.
He was born on July 28, 1920, in Akron, Ohio, to John and Frances (Livingstone) Slocum.
He was a World War II and Korean War veteran and a retired terminal manager in the trucking industry.
Survivors include his wife, Mary K. Slocum of Geneva; son, Jack Jr. (Cindy) Slocum of Fairmont; daughters, Nancy Ann (J. P) Weber of Lincoln, Linda F. (Willie) Ideen of Lincoln, Jill E. Slocm of Lincoln; brother, Henry (Dorothy) Joy of York; one nephew; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 15, at 2 p.m. at the Farmer and Son Funeral Home in Geneva with Pastor Mike Osberg officiating. Visitation begins today (Wednesday) at noon at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be held at Geneva Public cemetery in Geneva. Memorials may be directed in care of the family.

Geneva resident, 66
Viola Arlene Sole, 66, of Geneva died on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, in Geneva.
She was born on April 28, 1934, at Davenport to William and Marie (Meyer) Wall.
She is survived by her husband, Harold (Buzz) Sole of Geneva; daughters, Deb (Charles Jr.) Barbur and Patricia Sole, both of Geneva; brother, Raymond (Carol Ann) Wall of Kearney; and sister, Carol Dannels of Kearney.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. at Farmer and Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Visitation will be held from 1-9 p.m., today (Monday). Leona Peters
Henderson resident, 64
Leona Peters, 64, of Henderson died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln.
She was born in Henderson on Nov. 10, 1936, to Benjamin A. and Marie (Kliewer) Ratzlaff. She grew up in Henderson. She attended elementary school in Polk for two years and graduated from Henderson High School in 1954.
Leona was married
to Hilmer Peters on July 22, 1955, in Henderson in the Bethesda Mennonite Church. They lived on a farm near Aurora for 18 years before moving to Henderson. They were married
for 41 years, before Hilmer died in May 1996.
She was a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. She and Hilmer were the founders of the Christian Music Festival held annually in Henderson, which will continue in their memory.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Lynden Regier; a brother, Willard "Bill" Ratzlaff, and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Misner Ratzlaff.
She is survived by her four children, Lorie (Ron) Regier of Madrid, Sherri (Ben) Prieb of Boulder, Colo., Todd (Susan) Peters of Lincoln, and Jodi (Cory) Fuehrer of Sutton; 11 grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Montoya Ratzlaff of Aurora; brother, Elmer "Bernie" (Ruth) Ratzlaff of Montrose, Colo., and sister, Lenora (Clyde) Goertzen of Bradshaw.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. The Rev. Weldon Martens will officiate. Interment will be in Bethesda cemetery near Henderson. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26, at Higby Mortuary in Aurora and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to support the continuation of the annual Christian Music Festival in Henderson.
Agnes Galusha
Fairmont resident, 89
Agnes S. Galusha, 89, of Fairmont, the widow of Max Galusha, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, in York.
She was born on Aug. 25, 1911, in Chicago, Ill., to John and Anna (Larson) Bjorklund.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Nancy Jo) Galusha of Fairmont and Robert Dean (Marla) Galusha, both of Fairmont; two daughters, Dawne Lorraine (Ted) Hedden of Geneva, and Maxine (Larry) Klingsporn of York; a sister, Bernice Evans of Ainsworth; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Max, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, and her brother, Arthur Bjorklund.
Funeral services will be held at 10: 30 a.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Fairmont Community Church, Fairmont. Visitation begins today (Monday, Jan. 15), at 11: 30 a.m. at Farmer and Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Graveside services will be held at the Fairmont Public cemetery in Fairmont. Officiating will be Rev. Betsy Galloway-Carew and the Rev. Brian Kottas.

Viola F. "Mutt" Cunningham, 91, of York, died today (Tuesday, March 6, 2001) at York. Services are pending at Metz Mortuary of York.
Dr. Carl Friesen
Henderson resident, 83
Dr. Carl Friesen, age 83, of Henderson died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Henderson.
He was born Oct. 7, 1917, at Henderson to Abraham W. and Margaret (Friesen) Friesen.
He attended York College from 1935 to 1937. He then taught for two years at District 11 from 1937-1939. He then graduated from York College in 1941 and taught at Henderson High School from 1941 to 1946. From 1946 to 1950 he attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry. From 1950-1954 he practiced dentistry at Yutan, Neb., and then was a missionary dentist in Puerto Rico until 1956. He retired in 1986 following a 30-year career in Henderson.
He was an active member of Bethesda Mennonite Church and was formerly a member of the Henderson town council, Chamber of Commerce and the tourism committee. He also served on the Henderson School Board and Planning Commission. He was also a member of the American Dental Association.
On Nov. 1, 1941, he was married
to Sadie Pankratz at Henderson.
He is survived by his wife Sadie of Henderson; one son, LaRhue (Sheryl) Friesen of Lincoln; two daughters, Karren (Stan) Boehr of Henderson and Lynette (Steve) Ratzlaff, also of Lincoln; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Harold (Elda) Friesen and Elwin (Kathryn) Friesen, both of Henderson; one sister, MayBelle Janzen of Tucson, Ariz.; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a brother-in-law.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, March 9, at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Revs. George Kaufman and Steve Ratzlaff officiating. Interment of ashes will be held one hour prior to funeral services at the Bethesda cemetery. The public is invited. A guest book will be available to sign from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, at the mortuary. The family will greet neighbors and friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday evening, at Metz Mortuary in Henderson which is in charge of services.
Lola Naslund
Stromsburg resident, 85
Lola Angelia Naslund, 85, of Stromsburg died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
She was born on a farm east of Stromsburg on April 1, 1915., to Oscar and Caroline (Silen) Hanson. She was the oldest daughter and the fourth child in the family of ten children.
When she was an infant, the family moved to a farm west of town, where she attended the Hardy School and started high school in Stromsburg. In 1928, her mother died. In order to keep the family together, Lola stayed home to do the housework and care for her younger brothers and sisters. Her father died in 1955.
Lola married
Clarence Carlson on Jan. 12, 1957. Clarence died on July 20, 1968. On Sept. 20, 1972, Lola married
William Naslund. Bill died March 6, 1975. Lola was active in the Stromsburg Senior Center until she moved to the Midwest Covenant Home in October of 2000.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Reynold, Roger, Dean, Dennis and Orion; and sister, Elphie Otte.
She is survived by her sister, Clarice Eklund of Gresham; brothers, Sydney (Ruth) Hanson and Kenneth (Jeanette) Hanson; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Bob Johnson officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in the Stromsburg cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg is in charge of arrangements.
