Louise J. Morgan

York resident, 90
Louise J. Morgan, 90, of York died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at York. She was born Sept. 13, 1912, in York to Reinhardt and Ernestina (Block) Fuss. Louise graduated from York High School and became a Practical Nurse at the Lutheran Hospital in York.

On Jan. 14, 1936, she married Lloyd J. Morgan at Chicago, Ill. She clerked for many years at the King's Court in York. Louise was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Altar Society, and the Catholic Daughters.

Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Sybil Morgan of Denver, Colo., and Ella Morgan Griffin of Vancouver, Wash. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews and many cherished friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York with the Rev. Leo Seiker. Rosary services will be held on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Metz Chapel in York. Burial will in St. Joseph's cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph's Catholic Church of York. Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday.

Metz Mortuary of York is in charge of arrangements.

Olga Vondracek

York resident, 98

Olga M. Vondracek, 98, of York died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, in York. She was born Jan. 29, 1905, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Frank and Anna (Horak) Pavlicek. She married Felix J. Vondracek on July 6, 1932, in Cedar Rapids.
The couple lived most of their lives in Grand Forks, N.D., where Felix was a professor of history at the University of North Dakota and Olga took care of the home. They retired and moved to York in 1983. Olga was a member of the East Avenue United Methodist Church in York and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons, Felix (DeEtta) Vondracek of York and Paul (Michele) Vondracek of Bournonnais, Ill.; 3 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 1984 and her sister, Rose.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the East Avenue United Methodist Church in York with the Rev. Jeff Wulf officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in York. The family suggests memorials to the church. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Thursday and 9-9 p.m. Friday at Metz Mortuary in York which is in charge of arrangements.

Matt Plugge

Lincoln resident, 25

Matt Plugge, 25, of Lincoln, formerly of Inman, died Sunday, July 14, at Tabitha Care Center in Lincoln.

He was born Aug. 22, 1976, in O'Neill to Kevin and Patricia (Watson) Plugge. He attended O'Neill Public High School, graduating in 1994. Following high school, Matt attended Northeast Community College for one year, then worked various traveling transmission line jobs throughout Nebraska and Colorado, and worked for the city of Minden, before starting his job in April of 2000 working for NPPD out of York.

Matt's hobbies included fishing and camping, playing his Playstation and operating his remote controlled gas powered car. He enjoyed going out and being with his friends and sitting at home with Bronwen and a good movie.

He is survived by his fianc�e, Bronwen Carr of Lincoln; his parents, Kevin and Pat Plugge of Sutherland; grandparents, Stan and Betty Watson of O'Neill and Beverly Plugge of Norfolk; four sisters, Kimberly Krol of Osceola, Sharla Plugge, Shana Plugge and Avrielle Plugge, all of Sutherland; one brother, Patrick Plugge of North Platte; nieces and one nephew.

He is preceded in death by one nephew.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with burial in the O'Neill cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday evening at the mortuary.

Robert Daily

Broken Bow resident, 76

Robert "Bob" Daily, 76, of Broken Bow died Monday, July 15, 2002, at Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow.

He was born Feb. 10, 1926, at Anselmo, Neb., to Marion "Mick" and Lela May (Empfield) Daily. He was raised on the family farm near Milburn and attended school at Milburn. After his education, Bob worked on the family farm before joining the U.S. Army. He served his country from February 1945 to December 1946. After his discharge, he returned to Anselmo. On Feb. 10, 1948, he was married to Lucille Downey at Anselmo. They made their home in and around Anselmo. In 1966, he moved with his family to Geneva, where Bob worked with Lincoln Grain Company. They moved to Lincoln in 1968, and Bob continued to work for the Lincoln Grain Company until his retirement in 1984.

Bob was a member of the VFW, Elks Lodge, and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille of Broken Bow; four daughters, Donna (Vaughn) Wiebusch of Norfolk, Rose (Martin) Barrett of York, Linda (Lynn) Bartak of Merna, and Barbara (Steve) Burham of Lincoln; one brother, Don (Jodi) Daily of Whitman; two sisters, Dorothy (Gene) James of Mullen, and Dixie (Doug) Engelhardt of Ulm, Mont.; ten grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Virginia Bader.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 19, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. James Sampson and Gene Goben officiating. An Elks Service will also be held. Burial and military rites will be in the Broken Bow cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Memorials have been established to Heritage Hall Nursing Home and Custer County Hospice.

Rev. Kenneth McClain Jr.

Lincoln resident, 65
The Reverend Kenneth L. McClain Jr., 65, of Lincoln died July 15, 2002, at his home.

He was born in Indianapolis, Ind., on Feb. 27, 1937, the son of Kenneth L. McClain Sr. and Evelyn (Barnes) McClain. He graduated from high school in Coral Gables, Fla.; received his BA from Nebraska Wesleyan University at Lincoln, and Master of Divinity from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary at Dubuque, Iowa.

He entered the United States Air Force in 1956 and was honorably discharged on Oct. 21, 1962. He then was in the Nebraska Air National Guard from 1965 to 1978 and the Nebraska Army National Guard from 1981 to 1986, retiring in 1986.

He was united in marriage to Karen R. Shadbolt on Dec. 27, 1963, at the Dakota City, Neb., United Methodist Church. He worked full-time for the Nebraska Air National Guard for 13 years. He was later ordained a pastor in the Nebraska Conference of the United Methodist Church and served in ministry for 23 years: Belmont-Whig, Wis., United Methodist Churches from 1978-81; Gering Trinity-Melbeta-Bayard United Methodist Church from 1981-84; founding pastor of Elkhorn Hills United Methodist Church, Elkhorn, from 1984-86; Auburn United Methodist Church from 1986-1995; Blair-Kennard United Methodist Church from 1995-98; Shickley-Clay Center Emmanuel United Methodist Churches from 1998-99; and Doniphan-Rosedale-Trumbull-Inland United Methodist Churches from 1999 to retirement in June of 2001.

Survivors include his wife, Karen McClain of Lincoln; daughter, Kimberly (Jim) Wallingford of York; Kevin (Leah) McClain of Homer; son, Kevin (Leah) McClain of Homer; grandchildren: Aaron and Nathan Lucas, Camden and Bailey Wallingford, and Brooke and Jesse McClain; sister, Phyllis Jean Smith of Indianapolis, Ind.; half-brothers, Ed McClain of Visalia, Calif., Stephen McClain of ShoLow, Ariz., and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 18, 2002, at 10:30 a.m at the Doniphan United Methodist Church in Doniphan, with the Rev. Jeff Hale, the Rev. F. Cole Fowler and the Rev. A.K. Saul officiating.

Burial will be Friday, July 19, at 12:30 p.m. at the Omaha Valley cemetery in Homer with the Rev. William B. Anderson and the Rev. Robert E. Call officiating at the graveside. Military honors will be conducted by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. on Wednesday with family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorial gifts will be distributed to the churches served by the Rev. Kenneth McClain Jr.

Betty J. Fitzpatrick

Former Bradshaw
resident, 74

Betty J. Fitzpatrick, 74, of Gardner, Mass., formerly of Bradshaw, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, in Templeton, Mass.

She was born July 6, 1928 in Bradshaw, to William D. and Jesse Irene (Schall) Green and lived in Gardner, Mass., since 1994. Being a military wife, she lived in ten states and three foreign countries where she worked as a civil service secretary. She was a member of the choir of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Gardner. She enjoyed genealogy, singing in church and community choirs and writing poetry. She was a 1945 graduate and class valedictorian of Bradshaw High School. Her husband of 49 years, Donald Fitzpatrick, died in 1995.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Fitzpatrick of Owings, Md., and Mark Fitzpatrick of Union, Ohio; a daughter, Sharon Imig of Westminster, Mass.; a brother, William D. Green of Miami, Fla.; three grandchildren; one nephew; and several cousins.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, at the Plainfield cemetery west of Bradshaw. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, Mass., 01701 or to the Patients Activities Fund, care of Baldwinville Nursing Home, 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville, Mass., 01436.

There will be no visitation or viewing due to cremation.

Wilma A. Bouska

Henderson resident, 88

Wilma A. Bouska, 88, of Henderson and formerly of Wilber, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003.

She was born July 23, 1915, on a farm north of Wilber. She attended District 3 school north of Wilber and graduated from Wilber High School in 1933. On Feb. 9, 1937, she was united in marriage to Elvyn Bouska. They farmed in the Wilber area.

She worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Gary Gross Chevy and in 1997, she moved to Henderson to be near her daughter, Clarice.

She was a member of the Wilber Methodist Church where she held several offices, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter, Clarice (Vern) Friesen of Henderson; grandson, Jason (Jennifer) Ladman of Seward; granddaughters, Ann (Jason) Williams of Lincoln and Katie Friesen of Lincoln; sister, Grace Kubovec of Wilber; brother-in-law Norman Blaha of Wilber; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna (Formanek) Srajhans; husband Elvyn on Feb. 25, 1966; son, Myron Bouska on Jan. 6, 1992; and sisters, Ann Blaha and Marie Ripa.

Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the Zajicek Funeral Home in Wilber. Pastor Elton Berg will officiate. Interment will be at the Wilber Czech cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the family.

Loyal C. McNeill

Lincoln resident, 89

Loyal C. McNeill, 89, of Lincoln died Friday, July 18, 2003.

He was born in York on April 27, 1914, the son of Charles and Minnie McNeill.

Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Eunice (Westbrook) McNeill; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Richard Svoboda of Lincoln; son, Duane of Enid, Okla.; grandchildren and spouses, Danae and Rich Lorenzen of Lincoln, Rob and Stacy Svoboda of Lincoln, Tim and Sheila Svoboda of Lincoln, Mitsi and Wes Andrews of Stillwater, Okla., Toni McNeill of Tulsa, Okla., Cyndi and Jeff Lee of Frisco, Texas; brother, Marion McNeill of York.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gordon.

Graveside services were held Monday at Lincoln Memorial Park, 6700 S. 14th Street. There was no visitation. Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, 1550 S. 70th St., No. 100, Lincoln, NE 68506.

Donna Naber

York resident, 61

Donna Kathleen Wray Naber was born to Arthur Wray and Dorothy Lottes on Sept. 12, 1941 at York, NE and passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003 at York at the age of 61 years. She was one of eight children in the family.

Donna was married to Reuben R. Naber of York on June 5, 1960. The union was blessed with four children, Todd Allen, Terry Lee, Tami Jo and Traci Lynn.

She grew up in the York area and attended school in York. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Waco. She enjoyed being outside, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Reuben; two sons, Todd and wife Paula of Lincoln and Terry and wife Tammi of Geneva; two daughters, Tami Naber of Lincoln and Traci and husband Kevin Butzke of York; grandchildren, Trista Naber and Taylor Naber of Lincoln, Tyler Naber and Trevor Naber of Geneva and Aarik Naber of York; great-grandchild, Mackenzie Kramer of Lincoln.

She is also survived by her four sisters, Janet Turek of Lincoln, Marilyn and husband Bob Beetum of Lincoln, Barb and husband Ray Gannon of York and Cindy Eloge of Nebraska City; three brothers, William Wray of York, Richard and wife Susie Wray of Glenwood, IA and Jerry Wray of Council Bluffs, IA; one sister-in-law Linda and husband Arvin Duerksen of York and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donna was preceded in death by her father, mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, a nephew and a brother-in-law.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church south of Waco with the Rev. Paul Kern. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family choice. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Metz Mortuary with family greeting relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Metz. Gerry Heatherington

York native, 84

Gerry Heatherington, 84, a York native, died July 19, 2003.

She was born Geraldine Virginia Greene in York, on Feb. 25, 1919. She was the second youngest of 10 children of Georgianna and Gilbert Greene. She grew up in York and graduated from York High School in 1937.

She married J. Scott Heatherington in 1942. She supported him through osteopathic college by working as a telephone operator, and then through all his professional successes. She was president of the PTA, the Osteopathic Women's Auxiliary, and the P.E.O. She loved playing bridge and the piano, and cooked a million great family meals. She was a generous and caring friend, a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her three sons and their families, Jeff, Doug and his wife Jodi, Marc and his wife, Melissa; grandchildren, John, Andy, Emmy, Trista and Joyce; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 25, at Lake Oswego, Ore.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Marguerite PEO Scholarship-OIE Charitable Trust.
