Harriett Bedient
Polk resident, 85
Harriett Bedient, age 85, of Polk died at the Central City Care Center on Tuesday, June 3, 2003.
Harriett was born July 14, 1917, in York County to Charles C. and Edith V. (McMurrin) Burgess. She attended Polk High School and graduated with the class of 1936. She also attended UNL.
She married
Fred Bedient on Jan. 20, 1937, at the Burgess family home. After their marriage, they moved to Iowa until 1942 when they moved back to Polk onto the same farm where they resided for over sixty years.
Harriett was a member of the Arborville Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday School and was the Sunday School superintendent. She was also a member of the Missionary Aid Society. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers and gardening.
Survivors include: one daughter, Alfretta Cummings and husband Harold of Weeping Water; one son, Bruce Bedient and his wife Carol of Polk; one daughter-in-law, Mary Jane (Vern) Samuels of Polk; one sister, Marcella Perkins of Central City; four grandchildren, Lisa Bedient of Mammoth Lake, Calif., Shawn Bedient of Polk, Holly Jo and Myron Parsley of Lincoln, and Shane and Nicolle Samuels of Chetek, Wis.; one great-granddaughter; two step-grandchildren, Ray and Kathy Cummings of Omaha and Valerie and Warren Lauritzen of Lincoln; five step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
Those preceding Harriett in death were her parents, husband and one son, Warren Lee Bedient.
Memorial services will be held today (Friday), June 6, at 2 p.m., at Arborville Congregational Church near Polk with the Rev. Lester Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Arborville cemetery near Polk. Solt Funeral Home of Polk is in charge of the arrangements.
Eilene Hanson will be organist. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Bedient, Shane Samuels, Myron Parsley, William Blender, Warren Lauritzen, Ray Cummings, Holly Parsley, Lisa Bedient, and Robert Bedient.
Mabel Klemke
Hemingford resident, 93
Mabel Klemke, 93, long time resident of Hemingford, died Friday, May 30, 2003, at Regional West Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 25, 1910, in rural Box Butte County to Agnes Hollinrake Romer and Joseph Romer. After graduating from St. Agnes Academy in Alliance in 1928, she attended business school in Grand Island.
She taught school in rural Box Butte County until her marriage to Albert Klemke on Aug. 27, 1930, in Hemingford. They lived and worked on the Klemke family homestead southwest of Hemingford until their retirement in 1973 when they moved to Hemingford.
She is survived by sons Robert and wife Addie of Alaska, Gerald of Oshkosh, Ronald and wife Lynne of Oshkosh, Albert and wife Joyce of Hemingford; daughters, Claudia Braden and husband Mel of York, Carolyn Burke of Grand Junction, Colo., and Sylvia Klemke of Charlotte, N.C. Other survivors include 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, son Melvin, and husband Albert.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Hemingford. Burial was in the Hemingford cemetery. A wake service was held at St. Bridget Catholic Church on Monday. A memorial has been established to the Hemingford Rescue Unit. Bates-Gould Funeral Home at Alliance is in charge of arrangements.
Roy Dean "Jun" Glasser
Roy Dean "Jun" Glasser, 74, of Polk, died Thursday, June 1, 2000 at York General Hospital. Services are 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Polk with the Rev. Roger Burke officiating.
Ronald Liberte
Ronald Liberte, 49, of Hickman, formerly of York and Geneva, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 3, at 9 a.m., at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, at 6800 S. 14th.

Marcella M. Kircher, 73, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at St. Francis Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 9, at 2 p.m., at the chapel of the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with Fr. James Cooper officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family.

Louis D. Kramer, 51, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Sunday, June 4, 2000 at Lake Mills. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bradshaw cemetery.
Dolores "Dee" Duncan
Lewellen resident, 64
Dolores "Dee" (McBride) Duncan, 64, of Lewellen, formerly of Beaver Crossing, died Wednesday June 6, 2001, in Kearney.
The daughter of Richard and Esther (Naber) Wellman, she was born July 27, 1936, at Fremont. She married
John "Jack" McBride on July 3, 1954, in Utica. Jack died in June of 1991. On May 5, 1997, she married
Bob Duncan at Lewellen. Dee was a bookkeeper for several area businesses. She was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica.
She is survived by her husband, Bob of Lewellen; two sons, Richard (Cheryl) McBride of Bruno and Daniel (Hali) McBride of Waco; two daughters, Candice (Art) Rohweder of Beaver Crossing and Penny (Gale) Watson of Utica; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, daughter (Katherine Bragg), son (Lonnie) and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 8, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica with the Rev. Rob Gadeken officiating. Burial will be in the Utica cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church. Metz Mortuary in York is in charge of arrangements.
Adeline Policky
York resident, 81
Adeline L. Policky, 81, of York died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at York.
She was born Feb. 14, 1920, at Richland, Okla., to Ladislav and Antonia (Policky) Pratt and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York. On Feb. 22, 1938, she was married
to Anton L. Policky at Bee.
She is survived by one son, Leroy (Agnes) Policky of Elizabethton, Tenn.; two grandsons, Trenton Policky of Harvest, Ala., and Troy Policky of Johnson City, Tenn.; one brother, Ernest (Thelma) Pratt of Omaha; two sisters, Marie Kontich of Fremont, Calif., and Georgia (Gerald) Brommer of North Hollywood, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant brother and a sister.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, June 9, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York with the Rev. Leo Seiker officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph's cemetery. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday evening, at the Metz Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice. Visitation has begun at Metz Mortuary in York.
Judith Ann Bingham
Judith Ann Bingham, 35, of Rochelle, Ill., died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at Rochelle Community Hospital in Rochelle, Ill.
Services will be held at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle, Ill., on Friday, June 9, at 1 p.m.
Lucile Clayton
York resident, 88
Lucile O. Clayton, 88, of York died on Wednesday morning, June 13, 2001, at The Hearthstone Care Center in York.
Lucile was born on June 21, 1912, at Charleston, Neb., to Moritz and Mary (Rich) Otto. She graduated from York High School in 1930.
Survivors include three sons, Mearl G. (and his wife, Patricia) Clayton of York, David (and his wife, Kathy) Clayton of Lushton, and Wilbert (and his wife, Floyda) Clayton of Benedict; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene (and her husband, Fritz) Scheele of Waco, and Jeanette (and her husband, Lee) Foster of Gurley, Neb.; one brother, Logan (and his wife, Adeline) Otto of McCool Junction; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Malvin Otto.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Arbor Drive Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Bateman officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation. Interment will be in Council cemetery near York. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Lewis Funeral Chapel of York is in charge of arrangements.
Velma Matzner
Gresham resident, 87
Velma M. Matzner, 87, of Gresham died Tuesday, June 12, at York.
She was born Sept. 16, 1913, at Gresham to Sam and Nellie (Huff) Lance. She was a longtime area cook. She started working in her mother's cafe, "Nellie's," in Gresham when she was younger and later the Ideal Cafe in York and the Glen Echo Resort in Bellevue, Colo.
She was an active member of the Gresham Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary in Gresham and the B.P.W. Ladies Aid in Gresham.
On June 19, 1928, she was married
to Harold F. Matzner at Gresham.
She is survived by one son, Larry Matzner, of Ceresco; one daughter, Janice (Gene) Schneberger of Grand Island; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Edna West of San Diego, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, three sisters, and a daughter-in-law.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 15, at the Presbyterian Church in Gresham. Burial will be at the Cedar Lawn cemetery in Gresham. Memorials may be directed to the church or to the family. Visitation will begin after 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Metz Mortuary in York.
Harold Nelson
Osceola resident, 85
Harold A. Nelson, 85, of Osceola died June 13, 2001, at Annie Jeffrey Health Center in Osceola.
Services will be held Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola. Burial will be at the Osceola cemetery. Visitation will be at Kepner-Roberts Funeral Home on June 15 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Homer Leroy McGregor
Homer Leroy McGregor, 64, of York, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at Henderson. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Doug Woltemath officiating.
Gloria Martin
Longtime York resident, 96
Gloria Martin, 96, a former, long-time York resident and well-known York area babysitter, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Omaha.
She was born April 7, 1905, in Lincoln to Alfred R. and Lulu Colette (Gannon) Gibson. On May 3, 1923, she was married
to John Martin of York in Omaha. They moved to York in 1930 where they were active members of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and raised their six children.
Survivors include her two daughters, Colleen (Ralph) Zender of Omaha and Carolyn (Paul) Erhart of Springfield; two sons, Jim (Cathy) Martin of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Jerry (Debbie) Martin of Caldwell, Idaho; her son-in-law Joe Ciafullo of Lees Summit, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
Prayer services will be held Monday, June 18, at 10 a.m., at the Metz Chapel in York with the Rev. Leo Sieker. Burial will be at the St. Joseph's cemetery. A memorial Mass will be held Monday, June 18, at 6 p.m., at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Springfield, with the Rev. Jim Cain. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., on Monday.

Eugene Ochsner
Sutton resident, 88
Eugene Ochsner, 88, of Sutton, died Thursday, June 14, 2001 at the Fairview Manor in Fairmont.
He was born Sept. 20, 1912 in Anajew, Ukania, Russia, to Jakob and Clara (Irmschler) Ochsner. His family escaped the Russia Revolution to Switzerland in 1920. He received his formal education in Switzerland. In 1921, two of his brothers came to America. The rest of his family arrived in America in December of 1927 and settled on a farm in Quinn, S.D., on Jan. 8, 1928. In 1933, the family moved to Isabel, S.D., where they continued to farm.
Eugene married
Tillie Ackerman on Sept. 28, 1939, in Isabel, S.D. The couple made their home on a farm north of Isabel. In 1944, they moved to Sutton where he farmed for Dr. Nuss for about three years, then worked at the grain elevator for two years. In 1950, he began working as an inspector at the Naval Ammunition Depot near Clay Center, later transferring to the Grand Island Ordinance plant in Grand Island. He retired in 1972 due to health reasons. After he retired, he did small carpentry jobs and made furniture and toys for his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Tillie of Sutton; two daughters, Darlene Martin of Dallas, Texas, and Barbara Verbeck of Ogallala; three sons, Ronald of Alda, Ervin of Geneva and LeRoy of McCool Junction; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lucia Lorensen, and an infant sister who died in Russia; four brothers, Frederick, Victor, Ervin and Arnold.
Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Hope Reformed Church in Sutton. Burial will be in the Sutton cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Hope Reformed Church or to the family.
