Wallace E. Hansson was a resident of Wahoo, NE. He died Tuesday at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. Wallace was born in Omaha, NE to Hjalmar and Ebba Soder Hansson. He was a graduate of Benson High School and attended the University of Nebraska for two years. He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945 and was in the 7th Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop in the Pacific Islands. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Soldiers Medal and two Bronze Stars. Wallace was a longtime Ceresco area grain and livestock producer. He was a parishioner of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and a member of the VFW Post #4502.

Wallace was preceded in death by: parents and granddaughter Tracy Otte. He is survived by wife Kathryn Kriebs Hansson; son David Hansson (Fran); daughter Lynn Otte (Mike); brother Wayne Hansson; grandkids, Gary Hansson (Lori), Kelly Otte (Britt), Stacey Hansson Coil, Dana Allington (Scott), Luke Hansson; great grandkids, McKenna Hansson, Makayla Coil, Shelby Coil, Brannin Hansson, Clayton Allington, Katie Otte, Shane Allington, Parker Otte, Brody Otte; numerous friends.

Brad C. Hageman, age 56, died at his home near Weston, NE on April 20, 2010. He was born in Lincoln, NE on Apr. 27, 1953 to Robert W. and Leora M. Nygren Hageman. Brad grew up on a farm south east of Ithaca, NE and was one of the last to graduate from District #16 Country School. He later graduated from Mead High School in 1971 and attended the University of Nebraska for one year. Brad was a welder and worked for Tomsicek Manufacturing in Ithaca and also Valmont Industries near Valley. He worked at Good Year in Lincoln and in recent years had worked at various jobs in the Wahoo and Weston areas.

Brad is survived by his daughter, Heather (Adam) Swinarski, Honey Creek, IA; sons Brian Hageman and Shawn Hageman, both of Omaha, NE; grandchild Alexis Swinarski; sisters, Sandra Thomsen, Ceresco, NE, Renae (Joe) Knight, McKinney, TX, Roxanne (Jack) Blake, Lincoln, NE; sister in law Julie Hageman, Ithaca, NE. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Nyle Hageman.

Raymond J. Urban Sr., age 83, Wahoo, Nebraska, died April 18, 2010 at Saunders County Care Center in Wahoo. Raymond was born in Prague, NE on November 29, 1926 to Joseph and Bessie (Chmelka) Urban. He grew up in Prague and attended school at Prague Public School. When Raymond was very young, he drove a milk truck for Frank Petrzelka Milk Company of Prague. On March 6, 1945, Raymond joined the US Army and served until he was honorably discharged on December 26, 1946. Upon returning from the service, he worked as a gravel truck driver for Wolf Sand and Gravel in North Bend, NE for several years. On May 17, 1958, Raymond was married to Marjorie Kremlacek at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi, NE. They made their home on a farm west of Malmo, NE. Shortly after they were married, Ray began to work at the Wahoo Packing Plant and later for Schuyler Packing Plant. He changed careers and worked for Beale Construction and later Kingery Construction, working as a brick tender for many years. Ray was a parishioner at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and also at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church before moving to Wahoo in 1999. He was a lifetime member of the Prague American Legion Post #254.

Raymond was preceded in death by parents; daughter Noreen Ostry; grandson Mitchell Ostry; brother Emil Urban and an infant brother. He is survived by wife Marjorie; daughter and son in law Renee and Daniel Codr, Prague, NE; sons and daughters in law Ray Jr. and Ruby Urban, Jerry and Lisa Urban, Mark and Julie Urban, all Malmo, NE; 14 grandchildren; brother and sister in law Frank and Marcie Urban, Wahoo; several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, April 21, 2010, 10:00 AM, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Wahoo; Rev. Charles Townsend, clergy; interment at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Cemetery, Plasi, NE with military honors by American Legion Post #254; pallbearers are Raymond Urban Jr., Jerry Urban, Mark Urban, Dan Codr, Brandon Ostry, Tyler Urban, Kyle Codr and Kalen Codr; visitation Tuesday, 2 - 8:00 PM with family greeting friends 5 - 7:00 PM and parish rosary 7:00 PM all at Svoboda Funeral Home, Wahoo.

Betty Jean Harper, age 77, Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Friday March 19, 2010 in Wahoo, Nebraska. She was born, November 7, 1932 in Asheville, North Carolina to Paul and Enola (Rasmussen) Teague.

Betty was preceded by her parents and her son, William Harper. She is survived by her husband, James Harper, Omaha, NE, children, Marcia Blair & Dan Suchy, Omaha, NE, Pamela Harper & Bill Eggers, Gretna, NE, David & Cindy Harper, Council Bluffs, IA, Rhonda Hill & Timothy Bantes, Appleton, WI, Lisa & Bryan McRee, San Diego, CA, sister and brother in law, Margaret & Fred Schiffbauer, South Carolina, 12 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be conducted by the family and church members on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, 2:00 PM at the Wahoo Community Church. Following the service, a gathering with the family will take place at 112 McKenna Ave. in Gretna.

Richard John Rezac was born on June 24, 1938 to John Edward and Rose H. (Bouc) Rezac in Wahoo, Nebraska. He attended District #44, later graduating from Wahoo High School. As a youth, he was active in 4-H and later a 4-H leader. Richard coached the Westside Hustlers Basketball team . Richard was a lifelong farmer in Saunders County. He loved making pinewood derby cars as a hobby. Richard was a member of the American Legion #308 of Weston, and a member of the Eagles club #2971.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and step-daughter Michelle Fender. He is survived by his son Michael R. Rezac of Wahoo, NE; sister Rosemary Rezac, Fremont, NE; Stepchildren Mark Lackey, Marsha Otte, Joann Whisenhunt, all Wahoo; Step Grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Agnes L. Benes, age 96, of Wahoo, NE, passed away March 8, 2010 at at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE. She was born on October 28, 1913 to Adolph and Mary (Tejral) Komenda.

Agnes grew up two miles outside of Weston, NE with three brothers and five sisters. While she worked doing chores on the farm, she was the first in her family to graduate from high school. She walked 4.5 miles round trip each day to school and graduated as Salutatorian from Weston High School in 1932. She met Emil Benes at a dance in Wahoo and soon after, was offered a job as a nanny in Lincoln, NE. Agnes told him she did not know how he would find transportation to visit her in Lincoln. He did and they were married on Jan. 9, 1934 at St. John Nepomucene Church in Weston in a double wedding with her sister Marie and George Skokan. They moved to Touhy, NE where Emil and Agnes owned the grocery store with Emil's sister and brother in law Rose and Ernie Kriz for ten years. When Emil returned in 1945 from WWII, they moved to Raymond, NE where they lived for 33 years. While living there, Agnes belonged to the Raymond Extension Club; St. Joseph Catholic Church in Agnew and the Altar Society; the Nebraska Mail Carriers Women's Auxiliary where she served as President for a few terms; the Lancaster County Health Board; and the Raymond High School Parent-Teacher Association. She also worked at Miller and Paine in the audit department for several years once there daughter Barbara was older. They moved to Wahoo in 1979 where Agnes was a parishioner at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society.

Agens is preceded in death by husband Emil M. Benes, sisters Helen Tejral, Julia Kliment, Marie Skokan and Betty Benes, brothers Adolph, Anton and Ted Komenda. She is survived by her daughter Barbara (David) Daughton, granddaughter Joan (Carrie) Knapp-Daughton, great granddaughter Emilee Knapp-Daughton, all Omaha, sister Dorothy (Howard) Novotny, Valparaiso, NE, sisters in law Glee Komenda, Brainard, NE, Rose Komenda, Wahoo, many nieces and nephews.

Frank Wayne Smith, age 70, was a resident of Wahoo, Nebraska. He passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. Frank was born on July 16, 1939 in Los Angeles, California to Francis and Velma (Giese) Smith. He graduated from Pomona High School in Los Angeles, CA. Frank loved deep sea and shore fishing in California, coached his kids in T-ball and he was a Boy Scout Troop leader.
Frank married Karen Croghan on March 21, 1959 at the North Town Church in Pomona, CA. He grew up in California and moved to Wahoo in 1979. Frank worked as a Master Machinist for AT&T in Omaha from 1983 until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of New Hope Bible Church in Wahoo. and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #2971 in Wahoo, NE.

Frank was receded in death by: parents, brother, Lyle Bryant Smith and is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen, Wahoo, NE, children and spouses, Paul and Heather Smith, Springfield, NE, Jill Smith of Oregon, Susan and Dave Vech of Malmo, NE, Daniel Smith and special friend Rebecca McNally, Cory Smith and special friend Stephanie Trudell, all of Omaha, NE, 9 grandchildren, brother and sister in law, Steven and Donna Smith of Chino, CA.
