Adolph Bohac was born near Success, NE on April 16, 1918 to Jan and Mary (Zmek) Bohac. He attended school at District #90 Crowder School west of Touhy, NE. On June 9, 1941, Adolph was united in marriage to Rose Dvorak at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight, NE. They lived on their farm northwest of Valparaiso for all of their 70 years of marriage. Adolph was a lifelong farmer and raised cattle, hogs and grain. He had recently moved to David Place in David City where he passed away on September 15, 2011 at the age of 93 years. Adolph was a member of St. Vitus Catholic Church, the Z.C.B.J. Fraternal Lodge 158 in Dwight and also a school board member of District #90 school. Adolph enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren, loved to listen to Czech music, play cards and watch Monday night wrestling.
Adolph is survived by his wife Rose; daughters and sons in law, Darlene Focher, Prague, NE, Donna and Richard Jelinek, Brainard, NE, Joann and Richard Corbin, Lincoln, NE, Marianne and Lonnie Ratkovec, Abie, NE; daughter in law Kathy Bohac, Valparaiso; 20 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 sisters; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son Dewayne Bohac; son in law Don Focher; great grandson Jonathan Engle; 3 brothers and 8 sisters.

Andrew J. “Andy” Kavan was born in Lincoln, NE on August 25, 1975 to Greg and Jean Kavan. With the exception of one year attending St. John Elementary School in Weston, Andy went to St. Wenceslaus Elementary School. He graduated from Bishop Neumann High School in 1993 where he enjoyed football, set several lifting records and was in the drama department. He attended Midland College in Fremont where he studied criminal justice and graduated in 1997. He played football four years and was the team captain and was named the power lifter of the year. Andy worked for Maly Construction for several years and had recently worked for United Parcel Service in Lincoln.
On September 9, 2011, Andy passed away in Lincoln, NE at the age of 36 years. He loved to laugh and to make people laugh. Andy was a great uncle and enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephews. He was always ready to play a game of canasta. Recently, Andy showed a deep concern for people who were in need of help, especially the homeless.
Andy is survived by his father, Greg (Jeanine) Kavan, Wahoo; mother, Jean Kavan, Lincoln; brothers, Greg Jr. (Deborah) Kavan, Wahoo, Chris (Kristi) Kavan, Mead, NE, Nick Kavan, Wahoo; step brother Daniel Parsons, Mead; step sister Cassie Parsons, Wahoo; nephews and nieces, Sam, Will and Eli Kavan, and Katlyn and Emma Kavan; several uncles and aunts. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stanley and Wilma Kavan, George and Geneis Schafer and uncle Rick Schafer.

Nordene M. Kellner was born on October 30, 1940 in Wahoo, NE to Joseph and Lillian (Fiedler) Benes. She attended District #49 grade school through eighth grade and St. Wenceslaus Catholic High School through tenth grade. She graduated two years later in 1958 from Wahoo High School. Nordene became engaged to James Kellner and they were married October 4, 1958 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston. They lived on their farm northwest of Weston their entire married life. Nordene was actively engaged in the farming and livestock operation. She could drive a tractor or truck as well as anyone.
On September 1, 2011 Nordene passed away at the Saunders Medical Center at the age of 70 years. Nordene was a parishioner of St. John Nepomucene Church where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality, KD and PCCW where she served many times as an officer. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary Post #308 of Weston and was a distributor for both Watkins and Nikken. She was also active in the operation of the Wahoo farmers market and a member of the Saunders County Czech Club.
Nordene always enjoyed her garden and baking for her family.
Nordene is survived by her husband James; sons and daughters in law, Daniel and Dawn Kellner, Anthony and Sherry Kellner, all of Weston, and David and Valerie Kellner, Wahoo; mother Lillian Benes, Wahoo; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Benes and twin great grandsons.

Albina Thoms, 92, of Wahoo, NE died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. She is survived by two daughters, a son in law, a stepson, two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren. Robert L. "Bob" Nau was born March 2, 1940 in Wahoo, NE to Albert and Alyce (Novak) Nau. He grew up on a farm near Malmo, NE and attended grade school at District 70. In 1949 his family moved into Malmo and Bob graduated from Malmo Public School. While still in high school, he began to work at Hinky Dinky in Wahoo. He enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve and served in active duty on the U.S.S. Mattaponi during the Vietnam era. Following his discharge from the Navy, he returned to Wahoo. Bob was united in marriage with Carol Duhrkop on Apr. 16, 1966. After their marriage, they lived in Lincoln, NE where he continued his career with Hinky Dinky. In 1973 he was transferred to the York Hinky Dinky store. Bob and his family moved to McCool Junction, NE where he was an active member of the community. In 1980, Bob began working for Food 4 Less/Festival Foods in Lincoln and became produce director for the company. He and his family moved to Waverly, where he later retired and lived the remainder of his life. After retirement, he worked for a time at No Frills in Ashland, NE.
Bob passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Waverly Care Center at the age of 71 years. Bob was a member of the American Legions in Malmo and McCool Junction and of First United Methodist Church in Waverly. An avid gardener, Bob loved to grow flowers. His entries were annual prize-winners at the county and Nebraska State Fairs. A master angler, he enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and he cherished spending time with his family, especially his 3 year old granddaughter Marissa, who will forever be his "Sweetie".
Bob is survived by his wife Carol of Waverly; daughter and son in law Shalisa and Jim Anderson of Omaha and adored granddaughter Marissa Kay Anderson; twin sister Barbara Ann Kirkpatrick of Mountain View, MO; four nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Alyce Nau.

Joan M. Furasek was born March 26, 1942 in Prague, NE to Victor and Helen (Klein) Kuncl. She attended Prague Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Prague High School in 1960. She went to Wayne State College for one year. On August 26, 1961, Joan was united in marriage to Ray Furasek at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prague. Ray was called for duty to the National Guard immediately following the wedding, and they lived in Missouri and Alabama for most of their first year of marriage. They moved back to the farm north of Touhy and made it their home. Joan worked as a bookkeeper for many years at the Malmo Elevator along with raising their children.
On August 20, 2011 Joan passed away at the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE at the age of 69 years. She had been a parishioner of St. Vitus Church where she was a member of the St. Vitus Altar Society. She also was a member of the Night Lites Extension Club and was an avid supporter of Bishop Neumann High School.
Joan loved being with her grandchildren and watching out for them. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was very good at it. In recent years, she enjoyed traveling and going to sales and auctions with her husband Ray.
Joan is survived by her husband Ray; son and daughter in law Bob and Jackie Furasek, all of Weston, NE; daughter and son in law Jackie and Mark Polacek, Omaha, NE; grandchildren Taylor, Ben and Josie Polacek, Cassi Furasek, step grandchildren Billy and Chris Harsh, Tawny Brown; mother Helen Kuncl, Prague, NE; sister Ruth Kuncl; brothers and sister in law Tom and Val Kuncl, Steve Kuncl, all of Prague; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by father Victor and brother Bill.

Renald M. Barrett was born April 6, 1935 in Wahoo, NE to Henry and Mildred (Moline) Barrett. He attended school at Mead Public School and graduated from there in 1952. Shortly after graduation, he became a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves where he was a Communication Technician until 1960. He also attended Midland Lutheran College for one year. Renald was the third generation of his family to own the family farm 1¼ miles northwest of Mead. He farmed the land much of his life until 2001. Renald also worked for Omaha Public Power District from 1953 – 1973. He became the manager of Simplot Soilbuilder at Mead, working in that capacity until 1983. He then worked at several trades and business ventures until fully retiring in 2001.
Renald passed away August 14, 2011 at the Saunders County Care Center at the age of 76 years. He had been a member of Alma Lutheran Church, served on the Mead School Board and had been the co-leader of the Marietta 4-H Livestock Club.
Renald is survived by Inez Barrett, Mead, NE; son and daughter in law Michael and Marci Barrett, granddaughter Megan Barrett, all of Monrovia, CA; several beloved nieces and nephews; cousins; and special friends, Glen, JoAnn, Mark and Don Treptow. He was preceded in death by his parents.
