Wilfred Novotny was born October 20, 1919 in rural Weston, NE to John and Antonia (Kantor) Novotny. Following the completion of his education at District #68 country school west of Weston, Wilfred joined his father in his farming operation. He took great pride in maintaining productive farm soil and caring for the farm animals. It was the life he loved throughout his life until just 6 or 7 years ago. Wilfred was united in marriage to Blanche Jasa Jelinek on August 11, 1979 at the Czech Presbyterian Church near Wahoo.

Wilfred died August 11, 2011 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo at the age of 91 years. Blanche preceded him in death, as did a nephew John Healy. Wilfred is survived by his sisters, Winnifred Novotny Robinson of Wahoo, and Ann Novotny Healy of Hudson, WI; a nephew Pat Healy, Hudson, WI, nieces JoAnn Healy Mudlitz, Hudson, and Mary Healy Hailey, New Richmond, WI.

Kendra D. Dailey-Rathjen, age 28 of Ceresco, NE, died August 9, 2011 at the home of her mother in Wahoo, NE. She was born December 10, 1982 in Wahoo to Larry and Mary (Haba) Dailey. Kendra attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic Elementary School. During those years she was a Brownie and an active member of 4-H showing cattle. Kendra later graduated from Bishop Neumann High School in 2001 where she lettered in track her freshman year, and was involved in choir, Elizabeth Ann Seton and the Spanish Spirit Club. She also volunteered for the Area Agency on Aging, Boy Scouts, the Care Center and helping the elderly with cleaning their homes.

Kendra attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and graduated from there with Bachelor degrees in Political Science and Social Work. She has been the director of the Nebraska Senior Health Insurance Information Program ever since college graduation. Kendra was united in marriage to Mark Rathjen on December 20, 2006. They made their home on an acreage southeast of Ceresco. She was a parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church in Davey, NE.

She loved fishing and her yearly Minnesota trips with family, camping and and going for drives in the country. Kendra loved dancing with Mark and also enjoyed family get togethers, playing cards and scrapbooking. She was an avid Nebraska Husker fan.

Kendra leaves behind her husband Mark; daughters Addison and Avery; mother Mary Dailey, brother Kyle (Becky) Dailey, grandmother Eddie Haba, all of Wahoo; nieces and nephews Kyrah, Jenna, Ryan and Jack; father and mother in law, Larry and Dee Rathjen, Pierce, NE; sister in law, Amanda Rathjen, Pierce; brother in law, Jon Rathjen, Omaha; many uncles, aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Larry Dailey; grandparents Joe Haba, Ken and Gen Dailey.

Louis E. Tesinsky, Sr. of Wahoo, NE died August 1, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, NE surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 18, 1917, to Frank and Anna (Prochaska) Tesinsky on the family farm near Weston, NE. On September 17, 1940, Louis married Agnes M Frohner. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Three children were blessed to this marriage: Janice, Rita and Louis Jr. Living on the farm by Weston until 2006 was their joy. Louis was educated at District 68 through 8th grade. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, being a seed dealer, and carpenter work building houses for his children. For over 40 years, Louis enjoyed working for the ASCS office, measuring land and climbing bins to measure the grain. Over the years he made many friends with the farmers, having traveled to all their farms. He went to all the sporting events and activities for his children and grandchildren. Louis enjoyed Czech music, family vacations, gardening, growing the best cucumbers, coyote hunting and helping at the parts store with his son.

Louis is survived by his wife, Agnes, of Wahoo; children, Janice (David) Odvody of Wahoo, Rita (Lloyd) Fiala of Wahoo, Louis Jr. (Jean) Tesinsky of Weston; grandchildren, Laurie (Scott) Horner of Lincoln, Karen (Shawn) Spanel of Elkhorn, Ryan (Christy) Fiala of Fremont, Randy Fiala of Wahoo, Justin ( Tiffany) Tesinsky of Walnut Creek, CA, Darth (Veronica) Tesinsky of Buckeye, AZ, Vince (Jamie) Tesinsky of Weston, Derek Tesinsky of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Seth and Brooke Horner, Logan, Sydney and Grant Spanel, Violet Fiala, Siena Tesinsky, Jonathan Tesinsky, Tessa Tesinsky; step-great grandsons, Tyler and Jordan; brother-in-law Dennis Frohner; sister-in-law Gladys Frohner; cousins, nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Tesinsky; brothers, Frank and Alois Tesinsky; step brothers, Jim and Rudy Fujan and two step-sisters.

Kathleen S. "Kathy" Abbott, 57, Wahoo, NE, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in Wahoo, NE. She was born, October 26, 1953 in Wahoo, NE to Donald, Sr. and Bonnie (Zetocha) Arney. Kathy married Randy Abbott on April 5, 1968.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Randy, son and daughter in law, Shawn (Missy) Abbott, daughter, Sandy Sloup, parents, Donald, Sr. (Bonnie) Arney, mother in law, Joann Abbott, all of Wahoo, NE, 7 grandchildren, T. J., Ashley, Haley, and Katie Sloup, Jonathan, Alex and Josh Abbott, all of Wahoo, sister and brother in law, Diane (Marvin) Ourada, Prague, NE, brothers and sisters in law, Donnie Arney, Mike (Kim) Arney, all of Wahoo, James (Michelle) Arney, Tallahassee, FL, brother in law, Gary (Judy) Abbott, sister in law, Donna Abbott, all of Wahoo. Jerry E. Hampl was born April 11, 1931 in Prague to Bohumil and Marie (Dressler) Hampl. He attended grade school in Prague and graduated from Prague High School in 1949.Jerry served in the US Marine Corps from August, 1949 to May of 1950. He was immediately called back to duty and served until April of 1952. Later that year, Jerry was united in marriage to Dorothy Havelka on December 30, 1950. Prague was his home for his entire life. He worked for 40 years for Kingery Construction in Lincoln as a crane operator. Jerry passed away July 25, 2011 at the Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo at the age of 80 years.

Jerry loved fishing and spent many days at Czech Land Lake doing his favorite pastime. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening and canning the many vegetables from his garden. His hunting dogs were always special to him, most recently, Lucy. He liked building things and built many things for his children such as a deck or finishing off a basement. He cut and split wood as recently as two weeks ago and had a huge wood pile. Jerry was a member of Prague American Legion Post #254 and had served on the Prague Town Board.

Jerry is survived by wife Dorothy; sons and daughters in law, Steven Hampl and special friend Sharon Beltz, Winside, NE, Robert and Connie Hampl, Lincoln, NE, Douglas and Christine Hampl, Prague; daughter and son in law Susan and Larry Snitily, Prague; grandchildren, LeAnn (Mike) Pence, Christopher (Maria) Snitily, Renee (Casey) Dunson, Ami Andrews, Andy Hampl and fiance Brittney Novak, Lindsi (Jason) McNair, Kyli Hampl, Seth Hampl, Noah Hampl; great grandson, Carter Snitily; sister, Margaret Polacek, Fremont, NE; numerous nephews and nieces. Preceeded in death by parents; brothers, Bill, George, Eddie, Emil and Max; sisters, Marie Sedlacek, Sylvia Cech and Mildred Arceri.

Jason R. "Jake" Hutson was born in Lincoln, NE on November 30, 1972. He spent his early years in Ceresco, NE where he attended Ceresco Elementary School through seventh grade. His family moved to Wahoo and he graduated from Wahoo High School in 1991. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for one year and transferred to the University of Nebraska at Omaha. While at UNO, he enjoyed wrestling for Coach Mike Denny and the Mavs. On January 20, 1996, Jake married Kristin Vasa. They made their home in Lincoln, Malcolm and then Ceresco for many years. In recent months, Jake had lived in Wahoo. He worked as a concrete mason and had worked for many years for Snowy River Concrete. Jake entered into rest on July 24, 2011 at the age of 38 years.

Jake was a very free spirited person who was well liked and had a lot of friends. He loved his family and his children very much. He spent a lot of time playing video games with his son Vincent and was always giving words of encouragement to his daughter Annissa. His love of wrestling was known by all who knew him. In recent years, he spent time reading the Bible and enjoyed studying it.

Jake is survived by children, Annissa, Vincent and Audrey Hutson and their mother Kristin Hutson, all of Ceresco, NE; parents, Sandy and Andrew Hutson, Wahoo; brother and sister in law Josh and Mollie Hutson, Wahoo; step brother Josh and his wife Kristy Arney, Lincoln, NE; aunts, uncles and relatives. He was preceded in death by grandparents Lawrence and Alvera Ziegenbein and close friend Brian Kemp.

Karen F. Hammond, age 71, a resident of Ceresco, NE formerly of Wahoo, NE passed away Saturday July 23, 2011 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. She was born January 2, 1940 in Concordia, KS to Elijah and Dorothy (Kinman) Roby. She graduated from Fairmont High School in Fairmont, NE and then received her degree from Gateway College in Lincoln, NE.

Karen married her first husband Ernest Burch on July 25, 1959. He passed away September 10, 1977. She then married Bill Hammond on February 19, 1983 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo.. Karen lived the majority of her married life in Wahoo before moving to Lincoln and most recently to Ceresco, NE last year. She worked for many years at Hinky Dinky in Wahoo but her real job was babysitting and caring for her grandchildren. Karen was a past member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo.

Karen is survived by her husband, Bill Hammond of Ceresco, NE, sons and daughter in law, Dale and Amy Burch of Ceresco, Rick Burch of Hutto, TX, daughter and son in law Tami and Jared Dostal, Springfield, NE, step daughters and spouses, Terri and Joe Lynch of Omaha, NE, Janice and Brett Terry of Omaha, step sons, John Hammond of Lincoln, NE and Donald Hammond of Omaha, 21 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, brothers and sisters in law, Bernie and Gwynne Roby and Ron and Donnalee Roby all of Fort Worth, TX. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Ernest Burch, sister Sandra Casburn, niece Kim Roby and step sons Robert and Richard Hammond.

David M. "Nick" Holmes, 58, Wahoo, NE, known to many as Uncle Nick, died Monday (7/18/2011) in Wahoo. He was born on June 17, 1953 in San Francisco, CA. He grew up in the San Francisco area and attended grade school in Daly City, CA and graduated from Mills High School, Millbrae, CA in 1971. David was drafted into the United States Army in 1972 and served in Germany until being discharged in 1973. He married Karen Koranda on December 20, 1976 at Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, AZ. They lived in Mesa, AZ until moving to Wahoo, NE in June of 1980.

In 1982 David received his associates degree in computer science from Metro Tech in Omaha, NE and started his 28 year career at Parker Hannifin in Lincoln as a computer programmer and analyst. He retired when the plant closed down in November of 2010. He was a member of the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, NE, retired and honorary member of the Wahoo Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department where he served as secretary treasurer for 20 years. David enjoyed swimming, reading, anything to do with computers, riding his motorcycle, collecting and renting out movies to his nieces and nephews and in his early years loved to camp.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Alice Onorato. David is survived by his wife Karen and son Michael of Wahoo, NE, mother and step father, Barbara and Carl Stewart, Millbrae, CA, father and step mother, Richard and Sharon Holmes, Pleasanton, CA, brother and sister in law, William and Lori Stewart, Belmont, CA, sister, Carolyn Stewart, Livermore, CA, aunt, Mary Onorato, San Mateo, CA, father in law and mother in law, Frank J. and Gladys Koranda, Wahoo, NE, brothers in law and spouses, Steve and Diann Koranda, Dwayne and Liz Koranda, Frank A. and Deb Koranda, all of Wahoo, NE, sister in law, Cheryl Needham, Victorville, CA, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
