Arnold J. Machacek was born July 18, 1929 on the family farm south of Weston, NE to John C. and Inez (Malousek) Machacek. He attended a nearby country school through elementary and later graduated from Weston High School. Arnold farmed with his father until entering the US Army September 12, 1951. He served in Korea and was separated from the army August 28, 1953. He returned home and resumed farming. On November 9, 1954 he was united in marriage to Rose Snitily at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi. They made their home on the family farm south of Weston where Arnold was the third generation of Machaceks to tend the farm. He continued to farm and care for his cow herd until just last year. Arnold was well known for his story telling and being well versed in many jokes. He loved listening to polka music which he did every Sunday. When asked how many children he has, he always said, "I have 2½ dozen: 2 boys and ½ dozen girls... that's 2½ dozen."
Arnold died on January 28, 2011 at the age of 81 at the home he had built himself. He was a parishioner at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Post #308 for over 50 years.
Arnold is survived by son Steve "Moe" Machacek and special friend Anjie Novak, Weston, NE; daughters and sons in law Denise and Pat Taylor, Fremont, NE, Diane and Duane Tejral, Dwight, NE, Linda and Steve Niemann, Weston, Nadine Sabata, Dwight, Jeanne and Randy Niemann, Brainard, NE, Nancy and Don Niemann, Raymond, NE; fifteen grandchildren; two great grandsons. He was preceded in death by hiswife Rose and son Tom.

Dennis W. Tejral, age 77, of Lincoln, NE, died January 19, 2011, in Lincoln. Dennis was born on March 16, 1933 to Lod and Evelyn Tejral in Valparaiso. He graduated from high school in Ceresco at the age of sixteen. While in Ceresco, he worked for Johnson Hatchery. Dennis later married Beverly Ann Smith of Ceresco on October 2, 1953 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Council Bluffs, IA.
From 1953 to 1965, Dennis managed stores for Hinky Dinky in Lincoln, Omaha, Nebraska City, Grand Island and Sioux City, IA . In 1965, he started the Western Auto store and later, D&D Furniture in Wahoo, NE with his brother Don Tejral. After selling the stores in 1972, Dennis began a career as a manufacturer representative working for multiple companies including Tex Tan, Serta Bedding and Perdue Woodworks.
In 2004, Dennis and Beverly moved to Lincoln, NE and in 2009, after being diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), Dennis officially retired from the furniture industry.
He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church in Wahoo and St. Michael Church in Lincoln.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Beverly; sons and daughters-in-law, Devin and Trish Tejral of Ankeny, IA; Bryn and Chris Tejral of Salina, KS, daughter and son-in-law, Kendra and Todd Wojtalewicz of St. Paul, NE; grandchildren, Cole, Trey and Kyla Wojtalewicz of St. Paul, NE, Dylan, Drew and Bethany Tejral of Ankeny, IA, Courtney and Kaelyn Tejral of Salina, KS; and brother and sister-in-law, Don and Marilyn Tejral of Wahoo, NE.

Howard A. Novotny, age 86, Valparaiso, NE, died Friday, January 7, 2011 in Lincoln, NE. Howard was born September 11, 1924 in Weston, NE to Adolph and Luese (Edie) Novotny. Howard grew up in the Weston - Valparaiso area and graduated from high school in Valparaiso, NE in 1942. He married Dorothy (Komenda) on September 10, 1946 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard, NE. They farmed in the Valparaiso area for many years and Howard retired in 1992. He was a Walmart greeter for 15 years from April 1993 to December 2008. Howard was a loving grandfather who loved spending time with his grandkids.
Howard was a member of Sts. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church, FCSLA and was also chairman of the Valparaiso Village Town Board for eight years.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, LeRoy, Kenneth, Robert and Floyd. Lillian M. Kremlacek was born in Prague, NE on October 27, 1919 to Joseph J. and Marie K. (Dolezal) Nemec. She attended a country school near Prague through first grade and Prague Catholic School where she lived in the boarding house. Her mother died when she was 17 and she became the caretaker for her father and two brothers until she was married.
Lillian was united in marriage to Paul Kremlacek on January 17, 1945 at Cedar Hill Catholic Church west of Morse Bluff, NE. They made their home on a farm northwest of Wahoo where Lillian helped with the operation. When their two sons Bill and Eugene were 12 and 11 years old, Paul passed away, leaving Lillian to take care of the family. She continued to run the farm with the help of her brothers. She moved into Wahoo in 1979 and had been a resident of South Haven the last three years. Lillian always raised a big garden and did a lot of canning. She also was a winemaker and enjoyed making kolaches and sauerkraut and dumplings. She made quilts for each of her grandchildren.
Lillian died January 7, 2011 at the South Haven Living Center at the age of 91 years. She was a parishioner of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society. She is survived by sons and daughters in law, Bill and Brenda Kremlacek, Eugene and Darlene Kremlacek, all of Wahoo; grandchildren, Paul Kremlacek, Wahoo, Lisa (Scott) Oorlog, Lincoln, NE, John Kremlacek, Wahoo; great grandchildren, Natalie and Kate Oorlog; brother Julius (Rose) Nemec, North Bend, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Kremlacek; brother and sister in law Frank and Mary Nemec.

Clifford Woodrow Lindgren was born to Nels Oscar Josephus Lindgren and Hanna Bring Lindgren at home outside of Lyons Nebraska at the farm on January 7, 1921. He was the 5th of 9 children. He attended Viles school through 10th grade and graduated from Lyons High School in 1938. He farmed for a while with his dad and family. He attended Luther Junior College in Wahoo, NE two years and graduated from Bethany College of Lindsburg, Kansas in1947. He attended and graduated from the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, MN in 1949. He was united in marriage to Jacquelyn Steven on August 18, 1951.
He attended Augustana Lutheran Seminary at Rock Island, IL. His internship was in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He graduated from the seminary and was ordained June 14, 1953. He served for a few years at Meeting Creek, Alberta and then moved to Marchwell, Saskatchewan. They moved to Strandquist, MN in 1958 where he served Bethesda and Salem Congregations as well as two other churches on Sunday afternoons every other Sunday. He took a call to Rosholt, South Dakota where he served St. Joseph and a church at New Effington in 1963. He moved to Crooks, SD in 1966 to serve Benton Lutheran Church. In 1972 he moved to Concord, Nebraska and served Concord and a church at Allen, NE. He moved to Benedict, NE in 1975. They moved to Wahoo, NE in 1978 where he served with Pastor Jack Barry at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont for a few years. He had a preaching point after that at St. Ansgar in Lindsay, NE. Pastor Clifford Lindgren died on January 6, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, NE just one day before his 90th birthday.
Clifford had a strong faith and a strong stand on the Bible and Mission, supporting World Mission Prayer League since it began. He was an avid gardener and sports enthusiast. He coached sports teams and taught his children how to play sports. He knew the players and even corrected the UNL football book. He was a former Wahoo school bus driver and delivered rural newspapers. He had strong opinions, loved his family and they loved him.
Clifford is survived by his wife Jacquelyn; children and spouses, Faith Richardson, Eden Prairie, MN, Rev. James and Judy Lindgren, Comfrey, MN, Mark Lindgren, Shakopee, MN, David and Joan Lindgren, Wahoo, Grace Lindgren, Omaha, NE; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Linnea Young, Oakland, NE, Olive "Linda" Ricey, Laguna Hills, CA, Marilyn Fuchser, Pender, NE; brothers, Clarence Lindgren, Lyons, NE, Charles Lindgren, Hendricks, MN; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sisters, Alice Gill and Evelyn Carlson; brother Paul Lindgren.
