Ruth Stillinger

Ruth Stillinger, age 90, of Genoa, Nebraska formerly of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday September 12, 2001 at the Genoa Long Term Care. Funeral Services are 10: 00 a.m. Saturday September 15, 2001 at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus with Reverend Mike Neely officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation is from 5: 00 - 8: 00 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. There will be an Eastern Star Service at 7: 00 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9: 00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Ruth Stillinger was born May 14, 1911 in Valley County, Nebraska to John and Mayme (Reynolds) Mace. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She married Martin C. Nelson November 2, 1930 in Aurora, Nebraska On August 31, 1935 Ruth was united in marriage to Adolph Gebhardt in Omaha, Nebraska. She later married Fred Stillinger in June of 1955. Ruth lived in Omaha and Rock Island, Illinois before moving to Columbus in 1953. In 1957 she moved to Phoenix, Arizona & lived there for 19 years before returning to Columbus. She was a homemaker, seamstress, a 50 year member of Eastern Star, past member of the Eagles Club, & a member of Highland Park Evangelical Free Church.

She is survived by:

Daughter: Dona L. Ridenour of Columbus, Nebraska
Four Grandchildren: Jay Ridenour, Randi Yates, Scott Ridenour, Tami (Bud) Osantowski
Six Great Grandchildren: Clayton (Renee) Ridenour, Kerry O'Kane, Joshua Bruton, Holly Ridenour, John Osantowski, Christina Osantowski

Mildred Watson

Mildred Watson, 85, of Columbus died Tuesday February 26, 2002 at Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10: 00 am Friday March 1, 2002 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Jim Murphy officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at McKown Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7: 00 pm. Visitation will continue Friday from 8-9: 30 am at McKown Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Albion.

Mildred Watson was born January 5, 1917 on a farm west of Albion to Fred J. and Mary E. (Murphy) Watson. She attended District #44 school through the eighth grade and graduated from Albion High School in 1934. She attended the University of Nebraska summer school and Midland College in Fremont. Mildred taught school for 12 years at 4 different schools. In 1954 she accepted a job at the Cornhusker Public Power District in Columbus as a clerk and worked there until her retirement in 1987. She was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary where she served as President and District President and was active in the Better I Extension Club in Columbus for many years. She had also been active in the Catholic Daughters of America and the Columbus Hospital Auxiliary.

George C. Wagner

George C. Wagner, age 57, of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday May 15, 2002 at his home. Memorial Services are 10: 30 a.m. Friday May 17, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus with the Reverend Gary Main officiating. Private family burial will be in the Schuyler Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5: 00 p.m. - 8: 00 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family or First United Methodist Church.

George Cyril Wagner was born March 8, 1945 in Columbus, Nebraska to George F. and Martha C. (Koch) Wagner. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1963. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1965 and completed Parachute "A" School and Basic Military Requirement. George was Honorably disabled retired on April 1969 after being injured in Okinawa. He received the National Defense Medal. On April 11, 1970 he was united in marriage to Susan Titman at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus, Nebraska. George lived & worked in Omaha before moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1972 where he worked as Salesman/Manager at Skalar's Furniture Store. He moved back to Columbus in 1980 where he worked as a salesman at Moorman Feeds for 2 years & Industrial Engineering 4 years. George then went back to school & received his degree in Computer Drafting from Platte College in Columbus. He worked as a Draftsman/Engineer at Fleischer Manufacturing for 11 years. George enjoyed fishing, putting WWI & WWII model airplanes and cars together, restoring cars with his sons, and 'smoking' the tires. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Sons of the American Legion in Schuyler and belonged to various Hot Rod Organizations.

Lester Zoucha

Lester S. Zoucha, age 72, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday; September 25, 2001 at the Columbus Comunity Hospital. Funeral Services are 10: 00 a.m. Saturday; September 29, 2001 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. The Rev. Christopher Grimond will officiate. Visitation will be Friday 3-8 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home with a 7: 00 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue 8: 00 a.m. until 9: 30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard.

Lester Zoucha was born June 30, 1929 in the Humphrey, Nebraska area to Joseph E. and Cecelia (Torczon) Zoucha. He received his early education in Tarnov and graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus in 1947. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from April 1949 to August 1952. Lester worked for Sears in Columbus for 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #938, Life Member of V.F.W. Post #3704 and Life member of American Legion Post #84.

Cynthia "Cindy" Jo Weverka, 44, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday September 8, 2001 at Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10: 30 am Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus with Reverend Gary Main officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4: 00-8: 00 pm and Tuesday morning from 8: 00 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.

Cynthia Jo Weverka was born November 3, 1956 in Ord to Elmer and Lorrena (Gydesen) Weverka. When she was 5 her family moved to Columbus where she attended Highland Park School. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1975. She started work at the Y-Knot Cafe and then worked for a short time at D & L before working for Becton-Dickinson for the past 20 years. Cindy enjoyed reading romance novels and being with her family.

Funeral Services are 10: 30 a.m. Friday October 11, 2002 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Christopher Grimmond officiating. Burial will be in the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation is 3: 00 p.m. - 8: 00 p.m. Thursday with a 7: 00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Friday from 8: 00 a.m. - 10: 00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Mary Ann Bray was born February 2, 1929 in Polk County to Fred and Anna (Korger) Bernt. She grew up and attended schools in Polk County. She married Arlo Bray on September 18, 1950 at St. Andrews Church in rural Osceola. They moved to Columbus where she was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Stella Irene Langan

Stella Irene Langan, age 88, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday October 8, 2002 at her home. Funeral Services are 9: 00 a.m. Saturday October 12, 2002 at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus with Reverend Tom Weisbecker officiating. Burial is in the Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery near Platte Center, Nebraska. Visitation is after 5: 00 p.m. Friday with a 7: 00 p.m. Vigil Service at St. Bonaventure Church. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 8: 00 a.m. until service time at St. Bonaventure Church.

Stella Irene Langan was born November 11, 1913 in Utica, New York to John and Agnes (Dambiak) Pachunka. She grew up in Columbus and attended school in Duncan. On November 11, 1939 she married Arnold E. Langan at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus. The couple lived in Platte Center and Columbus before moving to Omaha in 1960. In 1984 they returned to Columbus. She was a devoted housewife and mother. Stella belonged to St. Bonaventure Church.

Larry E. Vetick was born March 30. 1937 in Nance County to Adam and Frances Vetick. He attended rural Nance County Schools and later worked for Behlen Mfg. in Columbus. He moved to Omaha where he worked for Central Van & Storage and was currently dock foreman for Ring Brothers Trucking in Council Bluffs, IA.
