Patricia J. Thiele

Patricia J. Thiele, 73, of Columbus died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln. Funeral services are 10: 30 AM Friday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Weisbecker officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3-5 PM at McKown Funeral Home and after 6 PM at St. Bonaventure Church. There will be a Vigil service at 7 PM Thursday at St. Bonaventure Church. Visitation will continue on Friday morning from 8-10 AM at McKown Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.

Patricia J. Thiele was born May 22, 1929 in Columbus to Frank & Thelma (Ebel) Kerr. She received her early education in Butler County before graduating from St. Bonaventure High School in 1946. She worked for the JC Penney store. She married Wilbert L. Thiele on November 27, 1950 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. The couple farmed near Clearwater until 1960 when they moved back to Columbus. Along with raising her large family, she worked for Dale Electronics. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, St. Bonaventure Guild, and Scotus Mothers.

Clyde Arthur "Art" Jenkinson, Jr.

Clyde Arthur "Art" Jenkinson, Jr., 47, of Columbus died Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at Columbus Community Hospital following a lengthy illness with cancer. Funeral services are 2: 00 pm Friday at the Bible Baptist Church (42nd Ave. and 17th Street) in Columbus with Pastor Robert Walker officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3-8 pm at McKown Funeral Home and on Friday from 1 pm until service time at the Bible Baptist Church. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.

Clyde Arthur "Art" Jenkinson, Jr. was born October 9, 1954 at Lamar, CO to Clyde Sr. and Joan (Osborn) Jenkinson. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1973. He married Patricia Cunningham on Dec. 1, 1974, at Columbus. He owned and managed the former Columbus Truck Plaza. He was an area claims representative for Rural Community Insurance Services of Wells Fargo for 13 years. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family, along with raising quarter-horses.

Dorothy Marie Kyriss

Dorothy M. Kyriss of Columbus died Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at her home. Funeral services are 9: 00 am Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Grimmond, Rev. Richard Swolek, and Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation will be after 5: 00 pm at St. Anthony Church. There will be a Vigil service at 7 pm Friday at St. Anthony Church. Interment will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.

Dorothy Marie Kyriss was born May 14, 1932 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Charles and Lucille (Swolek) Encinger. She moved to Columbus and attended St. Anthony Grade School & graduated from Kramer High School in 1950. On June 12, 1954 Dorothy was united in marriage to Donald E. Kyriss. She worked as Deputy County Clerk under Carl Hoge until being appointed Platte County Election Commissioner until retiring in 1996. Dorothy was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Theresa Sodality, served as EME and Church Lector. She was a member of the American Business Womens Association, Eagles Auxiliary, Womens Division, and Alumni Board at Columbus High School. Dorothy enjoyed shopping and being with her family.

Carol Bignell

Carol Jean Bignell, age 64, of Columbus, Nebraska died Sunday September 15, 2002 at Creighton University Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral Services are 10: 30 a.m. Thursday; September 19, 2002 at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus, Nebraska. The Rev Michael V. Klatt and Ernest G. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4-8 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Thursday morning 9: 30 a.m. until service time at the church. There will be a 10: 15 p.m. family prayer service.

Carol Jean Bignell was born April 3, 1938 in Louisville, Nebraska to W. Martin and Leona (Borgelt) Wilson. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1955. She married Dwight Bignell on August 11, 1956 in Fremont, Nebraska. She has lived in Columbus since 1974. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and was a Caretaker at Peace Lutheran Church.

Thomas Rosenthal

Thomas Rosenthal, age 61, of Columbus died Sunday; September 29, 2002 at his home in Columbus. Funeral services are 10: 30 a.m. Thursday; October 3, 2002 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. The Rev. Christopher Grimmond will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday after 5: 00 p.m. at St. Anthony Church. A vigil will be held Wednesday evening 7: 00 p.m. also at the church. Visitation will continue Thursday morning 9: 30 a.m. until service time at the church.

Thomas I. Rosenthal was born October 27, 1940 in Platte County, Nebraska to Thomas and Cecelia (Syslo) Rosenthal. He graduated from Humphrey High School in 1958. On April 19, 1969. he was united in marriage to Gail Tschauner at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. Tom worked for the Platte County Department of Roads. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Fr. Delmar G. Funk will officiate. Burial will be in the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday 4-8 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Friday morning 9: 00 a.m. until service time also at the funeral home.

Dorothy A. Bernt was born January 23, 1938 in Richland, Nebraska to Harry and Alene (Miller) Lewis. She grew up in Columbus and attended Columbus Public Schools. She married Donald Bernt on November 3, 1954 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. She was a housewife and enjoyed raising her family.

Dean A. Kallenbach, age 65, of rural Bellwood, Nebraska died Monday September 2, 2002 at his home. Funeral Services are 10: 30 a.m. Thursday September 5, 2002 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Bellwood with Reverend Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Burial will be in the Bellwood Cemetery. Visitation is 3: 00 p.m. - 6: 00 p.m. Wednesday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus and after 7: 45 p.m. Wednesday with an 8: 00 p.m. Vigil Service at St. Peter's Church. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9: 30 a.m. until service time also at the church.

Dean A. Kallenbach was born December 2, 1936 in Rising City, Nebraska to Clint and Maude (From) Kallenbach. He graduated from Bellwood High School. On August 6, 1955 he married Lorene E. Schmit. Dean lived in the Bellwood area his entire life. He worked for Becton - Dickinson until retiring in 1992 after 37 years of service. He served as mayor of Bellwood, was an inactive member of the Bellwood Firemen, member of the Bellwood Ball Association, Columbus Men's Bowling Association, and the N.R.A.

Dean E. "Daddy" Williams, age 85, of Columbus, Nebraska died Friday September 20, 2002 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral Services are 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday September 25, 2002 at the Federated Church in Columbus with Reverend Don Wilson officiating. Visitation is from 3: 00 p.m. - 9: 00 p.m. Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home and from 9: 30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the Federated Church. Burial is at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard.

Dean E. "Daddy" Williams was born December 10, 1916 in Wood River, Nebraska to Elmer and Sally (Burmood) Williams. Dean graduated from Grand Island High School in 1936. He married Vera Harris on July 6, 1937 in Clay Center, Nebraska. Dean & Vera just celebrated 65 years of marriage Dean served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, from 1944 to 1946. He was the Co-Owner of Deano's Diner in Columbus for many years until retiring. He was a member of the Federated Church. He is a Life Member of the V.F.W. #3704 where he served as Past Commander and District Commander. The V.F.W. awarded him the National Aide-De-Camp award. He was also a member of Hartman Post #84 American Legion and the Eagles.
Dean enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing cards.
