Wilma Stoklasa

Wilma Stoklasa, 87, of Grand Island, formerly of Columbus died Thursday, August 5, 2004 at Beverly Health Care-Park Place in Grand Island. Services are 10: 30 am Monday, August 9, 2004 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. Visitation is on Sunday from 5-8 pm at McKown Funeral Home with a Vigil service at 8: 00 pm, also at the funeral home. Visitation continues Monday morning from 8-10 am at McKown Funeral Home. Interment is in Columbus Cemetery.

Wilma Stoklasa was born November 1, 1916 in Colfax County to Karl and Frances (Maly) Jedlicka. She grew up in the Wilson area of Colfax County where she attended rural schools. Wilma married Lumir Stoklasa on June 20, 1940 in Schuyler. The couple farmed south of Clarkson until moving to Columbus in 1953. She was primarily a homemaker while her husband worked for Becton-Dickinson. Lumir died in 1984. Wilma loved baking kolaches, rolls, gardening, and canning. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.

She is survived by:

Ruth A. Beilke

Ruth A. Beilke, age 79, of Monroe, Nebraska died Monday July 19, 2004 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral Services are 10: 00 a.m. Friday July 23, 2004 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Reverend Richard Bringewatt officiating. Burial is in the Gruetli Cemetery near Monroe, Nebraska. Visitation is 4: 00 p.m. - 8: 00 p.m. Thursday at McKown Funeral Home and 9: 00 a.m. - 10: 00 a.m. Friday at the Church. A Family Prayer Service will be held 9: 45 a.m. Friday also at the Church.

Ruth A. Beilke was born February 2, 1925 in Platte County, Nebraska to Anna Hurner. She graduated from Genoa High School. She married Elden Beilke on March 9, 1947 in rural Platte Center, Nebraska. She lived in Platte County. Ruth worked at Behlen Mfg. Co. and at J.B.'s Bar in Monroe, Nebraska. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus. She loved collecting cookbooks, doing needlework and baking.

She is survived by:

David Gdowski

David Gdowski, age 52 of Columbus, died Sunday; July 18, 2004 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10: 30 a.m. Thursday; July 22, 2004 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. The Rev. Del Lape will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday 4-7 p.m. with a 7: 00 p.m. vigil service all at the McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Thursday morning 8-10 a.m. at the funeral home.

David Gdowski was born August 11, 1951 in David City, NE to Joe and Marcie (Sturek) Gdowski. He grew up in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1970. He married Denise Kuta on August 11, 1973 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. David lived in Columbus his entire life where he worked fro Central Sand and Gravel for 32 years. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and his hobbies included watching sports, playing pool, Nascar, spending time with Ernie, hunting, and fishing.

Desley W. Moser

Deslay W. Moser age 63, of Columbus died Tuesday; July 6, 2004 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10: 30 Friday; July 9, 2004 at the St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. The Rev. David Fulton will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday 4-8 p.m. with a 7: 00 p.m. Vigil Service all held at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Friday morning 8: 00-10: 00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Columbus Cemetery.

Desley Wayne Moser was born April 2, 1941 in Osceola, Nebraska to Maurice and Doris (Harvell) Moser. He was raised by Sanford "Bill" Sudduth. He received his education in the Fremont Public School system. He married Louise Elaine Mortensen on April 19, 1963 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In 1976 they moved to Columbus where they have lived since. Desley owned and operated D & L Auto Trim for 18 years. For the past 11 years he has worked at FLEXCON. He enjoyed custom cars, fishing, gardening, cross word puzzles and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Elizabeth "Betsy" Timm

Elizabeth "Betsy" Timm, age 37, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday July 10, 2004 at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral Services are 1: 30 p.m. Thursday July 15, 2004 at the Creston Baptist Church in Creston, Nebraska with Reverend Eric E. Heisel officiating. Burial is in the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk, Nebraska. Visitation is 4: 00 p.m. - 8: 00 p.m. Wednesday at McKown Funeral Home and 12: 30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Elizabeth "Betsy" Timm was born December 2, 1966 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Gary and Susan (Summers) Witzel Sr. She grew up in Fremont and the Norfolk area. She received her education at Lutheran Schools in Fremont and Norfolk. For the past 20 years she have lived in Columbus. She enjoyed going to coffee and visiting with her friends. For the past several years Betsy has suffered from scleroderma.

George F. "Duke" Kneifel

George F. "Duke" Kneifel, age 77, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday July 5, 2004 at his home. Funeral Services are 9: 30 a.m. Thursday July 8, 2004 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Del Lape officiating. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery with military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation is 4: 00 - 8: 00 p.m. Wednesday with a 7: 00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Thursday morning from 8: 00 - 9: 00 a.m. also at the funeral home.

George F. "Duke" Kneifel was born November 13, 1926 in Columbus, Nebraska to Carl and Edith (Bader) Kneifel. He graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1945. George served in the U.S. Army/ Air Corp during WWII from 1945 - 1946. Following the service he returned to Columbus and worked at Behlen Manufacturing for 3 years. George then worked for the Bicycle Shop for 10 years before owning and operating Kneifel's Bicycle Shop until 1985. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, ham radios and computers.

John E. Brandt, age 50, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday July 12, 2004 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral Services are 10: 30 a.m. Thursday July 15, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus with Reverend Norma Jean Andrews officiating. Burial is in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation is 4: 00 p.m. - 8: 00 p.m. Wednesday at McKown Funeral Home and from 9: 30 a.m. - 10: 30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

John E. Brandt was born February 6, 1954 in Norfolk, Ne. to Rudy and Alice "Grace" (Moore) Brandt. He grew up in the Newman Grove and Columbus area and graduated from Columbus High School in 1973. On May 23, 1972 John was united in marriage to Linda Semrad in Columbus. John worked for Deano's Diner, Henke Machine, Columbus Hydraulics and managed the Columbus Truck Plaza. After becoming disabled he occasionally helped out at B & B Used Appliances. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Neil M. Fry

Neil M. Fry, age 87, of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday July 7, 2004 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Graveside Services will be 1: 00 p.m. Saturday July 10, 2004 at the Ainsworth Cemetery in Ainsworth, Nebraska with Pastor Brent Harwerth officiating. There will be no visitation.

Neil M. Fry was born July 24, 1916 in Ainsworth, Nebraska, the oldest and only son of Clarence and Ethel (Morgan) Fry. He had two sisters, Ardath and Gervaise. Gervaise lost her life in a horse accident when she was 8 years old. Neil attended rural school and graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1934. He married his high school sweetheart, Ella Mae Hoover, on June 3, 1937 in Valentine, Nebraska. To this marriage was born a son Clarence Herbert in 1939 in Ainsworth and daughter Sharon in 1942 in Norfolk, Nebraska. Neil and family lived on a ranch in Broken Bow, Nebraska until 1989 when he retired and moved to the Columbus area. He enjoyed ranching and raising horses for many years. He was chosen to be an American Quarter Horse Association judge for the quarter horses for years.

Kenneth T. Bogus

Kenneth T. Bogus, age 79 of Columbus died Tuesday; August 3, 2004 at Bryan LGH-East in Lincoln. Funeral services are 10: 00 a.m. Friday; August 6, 2004 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. The Rev. Tom Weisbecker will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday 3-8 p.m. with a 7: 00 p.m. vigil service all at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Friday morning 8: 00 until 9: 45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery in rural Platte Center. Military honors will be performed by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard.

Kenneth Thomas Bogus was born December 5, 1924 in Platte Center, Nebraska to Joseph and Anna (Stapf) Bogus. He graduated from Platte Center High School in 1942. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943-1946. He was married to Dolores C. Sindelar on April 26, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. He worked for Behlen Manufacturing over 20 years as a truck driver. He also owned and operated the Rainbow Room in Columbus. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #3704. He enjoyed hunting, fishing camping and gardening. Kenne was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football and the Chicago Cubs.
