Dorothy A. Lehl, 86

(Dec. 26) HEMINGFORD - Dorothy A. Lehl, 86, of Hemingford died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. She was born Jan. 8, 1914, at Central City, Nebraska to Edward and Mary (Pekarek) Mazanec.

Her family moved to the Hemingford area in the late 1920s. She married Elmer Lehl in Chadron on May 1, 1941. They have lived on their farm west of Hemingford.

Her survivors are her husband, Elmer, son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Barb Lehl of Hemingford, granddaughters, Jennifer Lehl and Rebecca Axtell of Alliance, sister, Genevieve Jones of Hemingford. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hemingford. The Reverend Craig Collins will officiate. Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Helen M. Regan, 88

(Dec. 26) ALLIANCE - Helen M. Regan died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at the Box Butte General Hospital. She was 88 years old. She was born July 7, 1912, at Casper, Wyo., to Charles L. and Edith (Wiley) Murphy.

She married Emil C. Regan on Oct. 26, 1936, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Alliance. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Slagle Clinic until her retirement in 1964. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, R.S.V.P. Burlington Northern Vets, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Franciscan Associates.

Her survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon A. and James A. Nuss of Alliance; grandsons, Christian C. Nuss of Lakewood, Colo., and Allen J. Nuss of Alliance. Her parents, husband, and one brother, James L. Murphy, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 28, at 10 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Father Bryan Ernest officiating. A rosary service will be Wednesday, Dec. 27, at 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the St. Agnes Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Joanne Monahan, 64

(Dec. 24) HYANNIS - Joanne Monahan died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at BryanLGH Medical Center East at Lincoln, Neb. She was 64. She was born April 14, 1938, at Worland, Wyo., to Gordon and Vivian (Kennedy) McGarvin.

She was schooled in the Worland area and graduated from Worland High School in 1956. She attended Colorado State University for one year, and married Roy Monahan June 16, 1957, at Worland, Wyo. They have lived in the Hyannis area since 1983. She is survived by her husband, Roy Monahan of Hyannis; her children and their spouses, Brad and Elizabeth Monahan of Fullerton, Calif., Doug and Debbie Monahan of Raleigh, N.C., Ron and Rhonda Monahan of Las Vegas, Nev., and Yvonne and Dwight TeKolste of Firth, Neb. Also surviving her are her mother, Vivian Stroud of Worland, Wyo., brothers, Lyle, Larry, and Dale McGarvin, all of Ten Sleep, WY; twin sister, Jeannette Schneider of Worland, 13 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.

A memorial service will be Friday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Hyannis High School Auditorium. Reverend Fred Templeman of Brooksville, Florida will officiate. A private family graveside service will precede the service at the Hyannis Cemetery. Memorials may be given to a charity of the donorâs choice. Bates-Gould Funeral Home of Alliance is in charge of the arrangements.

Alberta Bailey, 75

(Dec. 24) SCOTTSBLUFF - Alberta Bailey, 75, of Scottsbluff, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at Regional West Medical Center. She was born on July 12, 1926 in Scottsbluff to Chester and Ruby (Jones) Bullock.

She attended Lyman school. She was married to Edward Bailey May 2, 1946, at Scottsbluff. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and was a Walmart walker. She loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by her husband Edward Bailey of Scottsbluff; children Earl Jr. and Bev Bailey of Minatare, Danny and Terry Bailey of Scottsbluff, Karen Deering of Las Vegas, Nev., and Wayne and Carol Bailey of Alliance; grandchildren, Betty Maglasana of California; Greg and Alizabeth Benson of Las Vegas, Nev., Darci and Darren Larsen of Gering, Kerry and Crystal Bailey and Leland Bailey of Kearney, Danelle and David Sullivan of Mitchell, Andrea and Erik Lopez of Terrytown, Christopher Bailey of Alliance, and Bryan Bailey of Scottsbluff; great grandchildren Skyler and Shelby Sullivan of Mitchell, Bryana and Brandyn Larsen of Gering, Bailey and Gage Benson of Las Vegas, Nev., Paige Lopez of Terrytown and Tiffany and Taylor Maglasana of California; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, special nieces, Bonnie Pierce, Kathy Prickett, Twila Prickett and Wanda Hauschild and very special friend Bev Jordan. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, Jenny, Ernest, Tenley and Sara.

Mrs. Bailey's funeral will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Grace Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Rich Peterson officiating. Interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Memorials have been established to the American Heart Association or donor's choice. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

A. Ruth Olesen, 86

(Dec. 23) MITCHELL, S.D. - A. Ruth Olesen, 86, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at her home. She was born Jan. 14, 1916. Her parents were Arthur and Irene (Martin) Bair.

She was married to John Thiele, and the couple moved to Mitchell in 1959. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1966. She was employed at Montgomery Ward and later at White Drug. She was married to Morgan Olesen on July 11, 1970. She is survived by her husband Morgan Olesen; one daughter, Bev (Rodney) Twogood of Alliance; grandsons Ryan Twogood of Gering and Chad Twogood of Tulsa, Okla.; and one great-grandson, Connor Twogood.

Mrs. Olesen's funeral will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 27, at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 26, at the funeral home.

Mary Odell, 91

(Dec. 23) ALLIANCE - Mary Odell, 91, of Alliance died Thursday, December 21, 2000, at the Box Butte General Hospital. She was born June 17, 1909, in rural Alliance to William Henry and Amanda (Johnston) Aspden.

She was baptized in Fairview M.E. Church in rural Alliance. She graduated from District No. 5 and attended Alliance High School. She married Oscar Leroy Odell on Feb. 5, 1929, at Alliance. He preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1993.

Her survivors are a daughter Betty and her husband Elmer Brammer Jr. of Denver; a son, Donald, and his wife Jurene Odell of Alliance, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, Randy Brammer and his wife Dianna, and their children Bryan and Julie of Littleton, Colo., Vicki and her husband Donald Freiberger, and their sons, Justin and Josh of Alliance; Brian Odell and his wife Peggy, and their sons Timothy and Cody of North Platte, and Joe Odell of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Jason Odell and his wife, Bette, and their sons Michael and Derek of Alliance. Her parents, her husband, seven brothers, and four sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Alliance Berean Church. Pastor Hod Boltjes will officiate. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Keith Weakley, 82

(Dec. 22) SEATTLE, Wash. - Keith Weakley, 82, born and raised in the Alliance area, died Friday, Dec. 15, at Washington State. He was born Aug. 20, 1918, at Alliance. He married Dorethea Hoag of Holdredge.

They were married 57 years, and traveled the world together. Mrs. Waekley preceded him in death. He was employed by Boeing Aircraft of Seattle for almost 30 years, retiring as a flight mechanic in 1981. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was active in the Boy Scouts.

He is survived by his son Rick K. Weakley of Tacoma, Wash.; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Weakley's graveside funeral was held A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at Columbia Community Church in Seattle, WA.

Harold P. Johnson, 70

(Dec. 22) ALLIANCE - Harold P. Johnson, 70, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Good Samaritan Village in Alliance. He was born Aug. 1, 1930, at Alliance. His parents were Peter and Edna (Powell) Johnson. He received his early education in Berea, and graduated from Alliance High School in 1960.

He married Fern Weinell in 1949, at Alliance. Me married Genevieve Bauer in 1974, at Alliance. He farmed west of Berea until 1951, when he became self-employed. He began employment with Union Pacific Railroad in 1953, and then Frick Construction in 1954. He then flew charter planes for Don Brown, and, in 1961, began aerial spraying for Byron Appleby. He owned and operated Johnson's Aerial Ag Service from 1964 until 1983. He was a member of the American Legion, Eagles, VFW, AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association), Masonic Lodge (32nd degree) and First Presbyterian Church of Alliance. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, flying, woodworking and watching football.

He is survived by his former wives, Fern Weinell and Genevieve Bauer; four daughters, Sheila Walker of Alliance, Linda Timmens of Oxon Hills, Md., Elissa Holcomb of Grand Lake, Colo., and Deanna Wilhelm of Loveland, Colo.; son Justin Johnson of Scottsbluff; stepdaughter Jenny Murrell of Mitchell; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one step-grandchild. He also is survived by two brothers, Arthur Johnson and Dale Johnson, both of Berea; and three sisters, Elaine Marsh of Alliance, Hazel Brennan of Omaha and Lucille Appleby of Tuscon, Ariz.

Mr. Johnson's memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at First Presbyterian Church in Alliance, with Pastor Dan Floyd officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. Memorials may be made to Alliance Masonic Lodge No. 183 AF and AM, or First Presbyterian Church in Alliance. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel of Scottsbluff is in charge of arrangements.

Ray Holcomb, 78

DOUGLAS, Wyo. — Ray Holcomb, 78, formerly of Crawford died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007. His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Douglas Funeral Home.

Charlotte Weinell, 78

MESQUITE. Nev. — Charlotte Jane Weinell, 78, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007. Memorial services were Sunday Oct. 14, at Mesquite.

Trevor Littlejohn Raschke, 16

ALLIANCE - Trevor A. Littlejohn Raschke, 16, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at his home. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at St. John's United Lutheran Church.

Gregory Cochran, 46

LOVELAND, Colo. — Gregory “Greg” Dean Cochran, 46, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at his home after a courageous two- year battle with cancer. Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Federated Church at Mitchell.

Carrie Schrum, 76

ALLIANCE — Carrie J. Schrum, 76, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at Box Butte General Hospital. Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at St. John’s United Lutheran Church, with Rev. Larry Spomer officiating.

Elena V. Flores, 86

ALLIANCE — Elena V. Flores, 86, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Holy Rosary Church, with Fr. James Heithoff officiating.

Phyllis Donovan, 74

ALLIANCE - Phyllis "Ann" Schwaderer Donovan, 74, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at her home after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at the United Methodist Church, with Pastor Doug Griger officiating.

James G. McLean, 71

BOULDER, Colo. — James G. McLean, 71, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at the Mesa Vista of Boulder. A Graveside Service was at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13at the Alliance City Cemetery, with Pastor Doug Griger of the United Methodist Church officiating.

Donald Hardy, 72

ALLIANCE — Donald Neal Hardy, 72, died Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2007, at Heritage of Bridgeport. Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory at Scottsbluff. Inurnment will be upon completion of the High Plains Veterans Cemetery at Alliance.

Margaret Spurgin, 87

ALLIANCE — Margaret Louise Spurgin, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at Good Samaritan Health Care Center. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Larry Spomer officiating.
