Burton Block

COZAD — Burton Block, 74, formerly of Cozad, died Jan. 15, 2000, at Coeur D'Alene, Idaho.

Survivors include his wife, Moira, and three sons, Stan of California, Brad of Texas and Jeff of Indiana.

Inurnment of the cremains will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Cozad Cemetery with military honors.

Berryman Funeral Home of Cozad is in charge.

Denver Tylor McCoyz II

LEXINGTON — Denver Tylor McCoyz II, the 1-month-old son of Denver T. and Darla Ann Dudding McCoyz, died June 18, 2000, at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.

He was born icon May 18, 2000, at Omaha.

Survivors include his parents of Elwood; grandparents William G. and Palma M. Tester of Montague, Mich., and James M. and Patricia D. Dudding of Elwood; seven uncles; six aunts; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Phyll Cammack officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at the church.

Priscilla A. Reitz

VENANGO — Priscilla A. Reitz, 81, of Venango died June 19, 2000, at the Chase County Hospital in Imperial.

She was born icon June 16, 1919, in Beatrice, the daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth Jensen Graf. She grew up and attended schools in Beatrice and Lincoln before moving in 1935 to Grant, where she finished high school.

On Aug. 18, 1939, she married Wayne Reitz in Julesburg, Colo. They lived in Brule until 1952, when they moved to Venango.

Mrs. Reitz had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1952.

Survivors include four daughters, Ferdella (Larry) Johannes of Hudson, Mass., Alberta (Jim) Truett of San Marcos, Calif., Theresa (Jim) Guggenmos of Ogallala and Marie (Kevin) Beiber of Fort Morgan, Colo.; five sons, LaVerne of Manning, Iowa, Gerald (Marge) of Tacoma, Wash., Ronald (Pat) of Nesperia, Calif., Bill (Edwina) of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Ray (Marsha) of Imperial; a daughter-in-law, Charlene Reitz of Phoenix; a brother, LaVerne Graf of Venango; 25 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Donald; a granddaughter, Robin; two sisters; and a brother.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Venango Cemetery with the Rev. Todd Burpo of the Imperial Wesleyan Church officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at Gubser Funeral Home of Ogallala.

Arnold H. VonEitzen

OGALLALA — Arnold H. VonEitzen, 65, formerly of Ogallala, died June 17, 2000, at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio.

He was born icon Jan. 7, 1935, in Ogallala to Herman and Marie Meyer VonEitzen. He graduated from the Omaha School for the Deaf in 1955. He returned to the family farm south of Ogallala.

In later years, he moved to Hastings, where he became a welder.

On April 20, 1976, he married Patricia Lyons in Hastings. He lost his sight in the late 1980s and he and his wife moved to Omaha to be close to her family. In 1998, he moved to Columbus Colony Elderly Care Home for the Deaf and Blind in Westerville.

Mr. VonEitzen belonged to the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Dickens of Westerville and Helen Willey of Keystone; and four nieces and nephews, including Kathy (Tom) Grafford of Keystone.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1994, his parents and a brother, Everett, in 1943.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Draucker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Dobbertien of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala.

Rudolph Herman Gellerman

WILCOX — Rudolph Herman "Rudy" Gellerman of Wilcox, father of LeRoy Gellerman of North Platte, died Aug. 15, 2000, at the Christian Homes in Holdrege. He was 89.

He was born icon Sept. 1, 1910, at Tobias to Frederick and Maria Dunse Gellerman. He was baptized Oct. 14, 1910, in the Lutheran faith at Tobias. He was confirmed June 8, 1924, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox.

On Nov. 10, 1937, he married Laura Minnie Marie Bartels at St. John's Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Wilcox community until 1957 when they moved to Axtell and he worked at Bethphage Mission. He retired in 1982. His wife died Jan. 11, 1973. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Layman's League and the Axtell Lions Club.

Mr. Gellerman is survived by two daughters, Lois (Donald) Quinn of Axtell and Sharon (Arthur Ralph) Johnson of Omaha; a son, LeRoy (Sylvia); seven grandchildren, Allan (Kimberly) Quinn of Havelock, N.C., Arlen (Suzanne) Quinn of Bellevue, David (Angelica) Johnson of Independence, Kan., Cheryl (Erik) Peterson of Lindsborg, Kan., Laura (Joshua) Dahlke of Omaha, Daniel Gellerman of Ogallala and Diane (Ryan) Mintling of Imperial; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; and other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by parents; six sisters; and four brothers.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church or Bethphage Mission.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the church with the Rev. Jeremy Jacoby officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Wilcox.

Irene Anna Jobman Lutjemeyer

GOTHENBURG — Irene Anna Jobman Lutjemeyer, 88, of Gothenburg died Aug. 16, 2000, at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

She was born icon March 20, 1912, to John and Alma Jonanning Jobman on the farm north of Gothenburg. She was baptized April 14, 1912, in the Zion Lutheran Church. She was also confirmed in the church. She was a member of the Lutheran Church Women, Zion Quilters and served on various committees. She was also a member of the Dawson Lincoln County Extension Club.

On Nov. 11, 1934, she married Harvey H. Lutjemeyer. They bought her parents' farm in 1944, where they lived until they moved into town in 1978. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Lutjemeyer is survived by her husband; her daughter, Donna (Ken) Kenning of Gothenburg; her son, Robert (Kay) of Oakland, Miss.; a sister, Lillian (Roy) Norman of Brunswick, Ga.; six grandchildren, Sabrina Lutjemeyer of Olive Branch, Miss., Steve (Sherri) Lutjemeyer of Chicago, and Shannon (Todd) Aden and Theresa (Tim) Holley, both of Gothenburg, and Monte Kenning and Mitch (Steph) Kenning, both Lakewood, Colo.; 10 great-grandchildren, Laci Lutjemeyer, Seth and Sara Lutjemeyer, Zach and Alex Aden, Tiffany, Jessy, Elissa and Landon Ellison, Reed Howard and Kasey and Keeley Kenning; and four stepgreat-grandchildren, Brandon and Thomas Brandt and Micheal and Kasandra Holley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Elnora, Edna, Tina and Doris.

Memorials are suggested to the Zion Lutheran Church, the Gothenburg Hospital Long Term or the donor's choice.

The body was cremated.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church in Gothenburg with the Rev. Jeff Ruetten officiating. Burial of ashes will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorial book signing will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Blase Memorial Chapel.

Ivadell 'Ivy' Nicholson

GOTHENBURG — Ivadell "Ivy" Nicholson, 91, died Aug. 17, 2000, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

She was born icon April 28, 1909, at Gothenburg to Oscar and Millie Lindstedt Lundquist. She attended country school north of Gothenburg. She lived in Washington for five years and moved to Grand Island in 1943, where she worked at the Ordinance Plant during the war. After the plant closed, she worked at various cafe and bakeries. She moved back to Gothenburg in 1982. She moved to Hilltop in 1998.

On June 5, 1960, she married Orville T. Nicholson at Grand Island. Her husband died in 1981.

Mrs. Nicholson is survived by her sister, Jerry (Marvin) Lambertus of Gothenburg; her brother, Ole (Lottie) Lundquist of Payson, Ariz.; a special friend, Gladys Stevens of Gothenburg; and nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and five brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the Gothenburg Senior Center.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the West Lawn Cemetery in Grand Island.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.

Raphael 'Rafe' Pfeifer

GOTHENBURG — Raphael "Rafe" Pfeifer, 74, of Gothenburg died Aug. 16, 2000, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

He was born icon Jan. 7, 1926, at Spalding to Vincent and Marie Smiddy Pfeifer. He graduated from the Spalding Academy in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. After his discharge, he returned to Spalding where he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad.

On Nov. 27, 1969, he married Theresa McKeigue. They lived in Gothenburg. He retired from the railroad in 1971. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was honored as Knight of the Year in 1983. He was also a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed the daily fellowship and activities at the Gothenburg Senior Center. His favorite pastime was playing bingo.

Mr. Pfeifer is survived by his wife; two sons, Mike and Pat (Erika), both of Gothenburg; two sisters, Kathleen Radcliff of Federal Way, Wash., and Joan Bohan of Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Johnny (Darlene) and Mike (Marie), both of Spalding; and four grandchildren, Ashley, Kara, Kortney and Megan.

He was preceded in death by a son, Rafe; a sister, Mary; and a brother, Joseph.

A memorial has been established.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Gothenburg.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Don O'Brien as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Spalding.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.

Mabel V. Rupe

EUSTIS — Mabel Rupe, 85, of Eustis died Aug. 16, 2000, at the Gothenburg Hospital.

She was born icon March 27, 1915, to Ernest and Annie Ridpath Balcom near Holbrook. She graduated from Holbrook High School.

On Dec. 16, 1933, she married Irven Rupe. They lived on a farm south of Eustis. Her husband died in 1972. She had lived in Eustis since 1978. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Dorcas. She was also a member of the Friendly Circle Club. She enjoyed crocheting, making afghans for her family and her flower garden.

Mrs. Rupe is survived by her daughter, Janet (Kenneth) Smith of Eustis; her son, Dennis (Jane) of Eustis; a sister, Velma Farr of Eustis; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Rupe of Cambridge; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby and Ruth; three brothers, Howard, Raymond and Charles; and a great-grandson, Kirk.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church in Eustis or the Eustis Senior Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Delbert Daire and Shirley Daire, PMA, officiating. Burial will be in the East Cemetery in Eustis.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.
