Bernard Ristine

GOTHENBURG — William Bernard Ristine, 82, a lifelong resident of the Gothenburg area died Aug. 14, 2000, at his home.

He was born icon Oct. 16, 1917, at home near Gothenburg to Hiram McNeal and Nina Olive Williams Ristine. He attended rural school at Lotus Grove District 2 and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1935. He became active in the operations of the Ristine Farm after the death of his father and was assisted by a good neighbor, Clarence McNeal.

On June 14, 1943, he married Emogene Florence Walbridge in Lexington. They farmed and raised hogs north of Gothenburg until they retired in 1972 and moved into Gothenburg. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Gothenburg and held numerous offices. He enjoyed being a part of the choir for a number years. He also enjoyed taking part in community choirs and he sang at different functions.

Mr. Ristine is survived by his wife; two daughters, DeeAnn (Tim) Hibbs of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Donna Jean (Bill) Torrance of Naples, Fla.; two sons, David (Susan) of Austin, Texas, and Richard (Mary) of Gothenburg; a sister, Mabel Conroy of Torrance, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Ballmer of Cozad; nine grandchildren, Jeff and Sonia Ristine, Jill and Greg Smith, Javan, Ramey, Keela and Kyam Ristine, John Torrance and Taylor and Connor Hibbs; three great-granddaughters, Megan and Meredith Ristine and Gracen Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and a granddaughter-in-law, Cindy Wahlgren Ristine.

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Music Department, Grandview Cemetery Improvement Committee or the Gothenburg Senior Center.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Gothenburg with the Rev. David Fowler officiating. Burial will be in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.

Dennis L. Struempler

BROKEN BOW — Dennis L. Struempler of Alliance, son of Henry and Arlene Struempler of Berwyn, died Aug. 12, 2000, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. He was 53.

He was born icon Aug. 31, 1946, to Henry and Arlene Knispel Struempler at Lexington. He was baptized at Buffalo Lutheran Church and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Broken Bow. He graduated from Ansley High School in 1964. He served in the Army for two years.

He married Kathy Patterson. They had two sons. He worked in the irrigation well business for many years. He was employed with Rasmussen Irrigation of Alliance at the time of his death. He enjoyed rodeo and was an avid fan of professional bull riding. He also enjoyed the time he spent with his grandson.

Mr. Struempler is survived by his sons, Scott (Chris) of Gering and Erik of Kimball; a grandson, Braeden; special friend, Karen Baumann of Gering and her children, Tisha and Todd; his parents; three sisters, Sheryl (Rex) Taylor, Debra (Gail) Rapp and Lana (Jim) Lymber, all of Broken Bow; his grandmother, Clara Knispel of Lexington; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fritz Sr. and Minnie Struempler and William Knispel and an infant nephew, Galen Rapp.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Robert Strawn officiating. Private burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery southwest of Oconto.

The register book may be signed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Wednesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.¤

Howard 'Archie' Archambault

CALLAWAY — Howard "Archie" Archambault of Callaway, formerly of Oconto, died Aug. 11, 2000, at the Callaway District Hospital. He was 72.

He was born icon Feb. 13, 1928, at Midland, Mich., to Emile and Mary Ann LeFevre Archambault. When he was young, his family moved to Saginaw, Mich., where he graduated from high school in 1945. He joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska.

In 1971, he married Aneta Preston at Thornton, Colo. They moved to Oconto in October 1971. He was a truck driver for the Arrow Seed Company. In 1979, they bought the Oconto Bar. They retired in 1990. They moved to Callaway in 1999. He was a member of the Eagles Club, the Lions Club and the Oconto Fire and Emergency Medical Technician departments.

Mr. Archambault is survived by his wife; two daughters, Penni Sievers of Loveland, Colo., and Mari Zenus of Broomfield, Colo.; three sons, Robert Archambault of Oconto, Jerry Archambault of Sacramento, Calif., and Bruce Cook of Longmont, Colo.; three stepdaughters, Jan Tedrow of Foothills Ranch, Calif., Bev Swift of Great Falls, Mont., and Pat Lyon of Longmont; a brother, Carl of Saginaw; eight grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; and six brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the Callaway Hospice.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Callaway with the Rev. Jim Novakowski officiating. Burial will be in the Oconto Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church.

Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge.

Flossie E. Harms

JOHNSON LAKE — Flossie E. Harms, 63, of Johnson Lake died Aug. 10, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

She was born icon May 31, 1937, to Wilbur and Elsie Gettys Rodgers at Greeley, Colo.

On June 3, 1954, she married Norvin Harms at Cozad. She worked for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for several years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington. She taught Sunday school for many years at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad. She enjoyed sewing, making crafts, traveling and shopping. She was also a member of the Modern Homemakers Extension Club.

Mrs. Harms is survived by her husband; her daughter, Nancy (Mike) DeBoer of Lexington; her son, Garry of McCook; a sister, Shirley Vetter of Lincoln; three brothers, Bill (Irene) Rodgers of Lynnwood, Wash., Charles (Laurie) Rodgers of Midwest City, Okla., and Cliff (Marleen) Rodgers of Reno, Nev.; six grandchildren, Kristen, Kyle, Bethany, Zac, Dusty and Holly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son and her parents.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington with the Rev. Dan Cosson officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in American Lutheran Cemetery in Gothenburg.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.

Robert Louis 'Grampy' Bible

Robert Louis "Grampy" Bible, 93, of North Platte died Sept. 30, 2000, at Linden Manor in North Platte.

He was born icon Jan. 3, 1907, to James Edward and Helen Barrows Bible in Cambridge, where he attended school.

On Jan. 7, 1936, he married Lillian Ferne Stahle in Cambridge. He worked for the Burlington Railroad for many years and later worked for an extermination company in Wichita, Kan. After he retired, he provided lawn care to the community. In 1993, he moved to North Platte to be near family. In 1996, he became a resident of Linden Manor.

Mr. Bible was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge. He had a life- long interest in art and began painting in his later years. He also enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie S. Pawelczak of Chelmsford, Mass.; two sons, Kenneth R. (Connie Jo) of North Platte and Jon R. (Janis) of Lincoln; a sister, Ruth Yerton of Hoopa, Calif.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 18, 1989; an infant daughter, Nancy; his parents; a brother, Vern; and a grandson, Robert E.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Cambridge with the Rev. Dana Keener officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.

Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge is in charge.

Lesley Leon Fichtner

McCOOK — Lesley Leon Fichtner of McCook, formerly of Maywood, died Oct. 3, 2000, at Community Hospital in McCook. He was 72.

He was born icon Aug. 30, 1928, to Leon and Emma Folchert Fichtner at their home in White. He was baptized Sept. 3, 1928, at his parents' home. On Aug. 9, 1942, he was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in White. He remained a member of that church until it merged with St. John's in Curtis. He attended grade school at Valley Country School and later attended Concordia High School in Seward. He left after two years to help his father on the farm. He later received his diploma from Concordia High School. He was a lifetime resident, farmer and rancher in the White and Maywood communities. He served on the church council, was an elder and a choir member.

On March 31, 1950, he married LaVada Lucas of Curtis at St. John's Lutheran Church in White. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952. He served in Korea for 17 months and was discharged in February 1954 with the rank of sergeant. After he was discharged, he began farming in Hayes County. In April 1999, they moved to McCook to live with their daughter, Beth Messersmith. He enjoyed collecting and crafting antique horse hames into yard ornaments and hangings. He also enjoyed reading and watching or listening to sports, especially the Huskers. He enjoyed his grandchildren's activities.

Mr. Fichtner is survived by his wife; his sons, Lesley Joe (Ann) Fichtner of Westchester, Ill., and their children, Katie Fichtner of Westchester, Kim (Andy) Jipp of Oak Creek, Wis., and Tracey Fichtner of Reno, Nev., and Bruce (Jody) Fichtner and their family, Chris and Brandon, all of Maywood, Alesia (Tab) Kalinski, Skyler and Scout, all of McCook; a daughter, Beth (Mike) Messersmith and their family, Paige, Michael, Breanne and Patrick Messersmith, all of McCook; a brother, Allen (Vivian) Fichtner of Racine, Wis.; a sister, Esther (Calvin) Bahr of Valley Center, Kan.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry; his parents; and a sister, Ruth.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church or to McCook Peace Lutheran Radio Broadcast.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church in Curtis with the Rev. Paul Warnke officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell with military honors by the Maywood American Legion Post 272.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Thursday at Blase Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.

Helena Ann Hahn

DIAMOND BAR, Calif. — Helena Ann Hahn of Fullerton, Calif., formerly of North Platte, died Sept. 28, 2000, at Terrace View Care Center in Fullerton. She was 85.

She was born icon Dec. 22, 1914, in Queen City, Mo. Her family moved to Nebraska a few years later.

She married Theo Hahn and they moved to North Platte in 1965. They lived in North Platte for 30 years before moving to Diamond Bar to live with their daughter, Diann Woolman.

Mrs. Hahn is survived by her husband of 66 years; her daughter; two sisters, Rose Bishop and Geradine Chapman; a brother; Bill Jeffries of Wauneta; three grandchildren, William, Kadi and Jonathan; and four great-granddaughters, Morgan, Rachael, Ashley and Jordan.

Memorials may be sent to the National Alzheimer's Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, IL 60611-1676.

The body was cremated. Services will be at a later date.

Ellen Mary Kroh

COZAD — Ellen Mary Kroh, 80, of Cozad died Sept. 30, 2000, at Southview Manor Care Center in Cozad.

She was born icon Feb. 15, 1920, at Frankfort, Ind., to Elmer and Grace Johnson Douglas. She graduated from Cozad High School in 1939.

On May 22, 1939, she married Fred Kroh. She lived all of her married life in Cozad. She was a charter member of the American Lutheran Church in Cozad and the American Lutheran Church Women. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Kroh is survived by a daughter, Kathryn (Norman) Franzen of Placentia, Calif.; a son, Tom of Cozad; and a brother, Robert (Jean) Douglas of Cozad.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981.

A memorial is established.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with the Rev. Steve Berke of the American Lutheran Church of Gothenburg officiating. Burial will be in the American Lutheran Cemetery in Gothenburg.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Sarah Munson

Sarah Munson, 94, of North Platte died Oct. 2, 2000, at Premier Estates Senior Living Community.

She was born icon Nov. 20, 1905, at Belfast, Ireland, to Robert and Susanna Harper Black. She emigrated to the United States with her mother and brother when she was 14.

On May 24, 1924, she married Lawrence S. Munson at Smith Center, Kan. She was a loving mother and grandmother and had many friends.

Mrs. Munson is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Jim) Allen of Julesburg, Colo., and Susan (Dennis) Anderson of Ada, Mich.; a son, Robert (Barbara) of Thornton, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 8, 1969; an infant son; and nine sisters and brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with the Rev. David Lux officiating. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
