Ingeburg Martha Kraftzik, 76 of 1622 N. Lincoln, died Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at her home.

Services will be Saturday, December 30, 2000; 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald E. Boeschen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.

Ingeburg Martha Kraftzik was born icon September 26, 1924 in Wilhelmshaven, Germany to Karl & Henrietta (Koester) Horche. She and her parents and three sisters lived in Hastings, Nebraska from March 1927 to July 1935. During that time she attended Zion Lutheran school in Hastings. Shortly before the war broke out, they moved back to Germany. In 1949, she married Erwin Kraftzik in Germany. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1983. They moved from Germany to Hastings, Nebraska in July of 1953. She retired from Mode ‘O' Day Clothing Company after 21 years of service. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Ingeburg Kraftzik was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Erwin and 1 sister, Marilyn Doughty.

Survivors include,

Ethel ‘Polly' Barnes, 84, of Haven Home of Kenesaw, died Thursday, December 28, 2000 at Haven Home, Kenesaw, Nebraska.

Private family services. Burial will be in Long Beach, California.

Ethel ‘Polly' Barnes was born icon December 20, 1916 in Fluvanna County, Virginia to Marcellus Bradley & Margaret (Quinn) Sclater. She married Willard Barnes, February 19, 1936 in Charlottesville, Virginia and he preceded her in death in 1971. She worked for McDonald Douglas, Long Beach, California retiring in 1976 after 10 years of service. She moved from Long Beach to Hastings, Nebraska in 1982.

Ethel ‘Polly' Barnes was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Willard, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Robert P. 'Bob' Sass

Hastings resident, Robert P. ‘Bob' Sass, 73, of 1334 N. St. Joseph Ave., died Wednesday, November 1, 2000 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Vigil Service & Rosary will be Sunday, November 5, 2000; 8:00 P.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 6, 2000; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, all in Hastings, Nebraska.

Robert P. ‘Bob' Sass was born icon April 30, 1927 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Paul & Leona (Bader) Sass. He attended country school until 8th grade. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1944. Shortly after he attended Tommy Bright School of Design in Chicago, Illinois and worked for Strykers Floral in Grand Island, Nebraska for 2 years. He served in the United States Navy from 1945-1946 in the Pacific, Hawaii, Okinawa & Shanghai, China. He married Marguerite J. ‘Marge' Stobbe on June 28, 1948 in St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island, Nebraska and celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this year. They lived in Grand Island, Nebraska until moving to Hastings, Nebraska in 1955. He bought Davidson's Floral Shop at 533 W. 2nd Street where he operated it for several years, then moved into a former grocery store at 7th & Colorado. A new floral shop was built at 2618 W. 2nd Street in 1975. His 9 children worked in the shop while living at home. Bob was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council, Committees & Educational Programs. He was an acolyte and usher. Bob was Chairman for a 1.5 million dollar fund raiser for the Hastings Catholic Schools in 1986. He was an active member as Chamber of Commerce Ambassador from 1978 to 1988. Bob was Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee in 1983. He served 4 times as a 3 year Director on the Nebraska Florist Society and was President of Nebraska Florist Society in 1978 and 1989 and General Chairman of a 3 state Florist Organization. He was elected to the Nebraska Florist Society Hall of Fame in 1994. He was a member of Lochland Country Club, Just For Fun Old Car Club, Elks Country Club, American Legion Post #11, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus & its Chalice Club, V.F.W. Post #1346 and was Past Commander of District #13. He also was a member of the Nebraska Senior Golf Association. Bob was a supporting member of the American Institute for Cancer Research.

Roseland resident, Mark J. Trausch, 39, died Thursday, November 2, 2000 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Rosary will be Sunday, November 5, 2000; 6:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 6, 2000; 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Thomas Au officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery, all at Roseland, Nebraska.

Mark J. Trausch was born icon April 17, 1961 to Laurence ‘Mike' & Virginia (Schiefelbein) Trausch in Hastings, Nebraska. He graduated from Roseland High School in 1979. He was employed by area farmers, Big G Auto Service Center, Adams County Roads Department and as a semi-truck driver. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseland. He served on the Roseland Town Board and was a member of the Roseland Volunteer Fire Department.

Mark J. Trausch was preceded in death by his father; Laurence ‘Michael' Trausch; one brother, Gregory Trausch; grandparents, George & Lucy Trausch and John & Agnes Schiefelbein.

Rosary will be Tuesday, November 7, 2000; 7:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 8, 2000; 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.

Patricia A. Shetler was born icon August 20, 1935 in Prosser, Nebraska to Elmer R. & Lillian (Cain) Halte. She graduated from Wood River High School, Wood River, Nebraska and from Kearney State College, Kearney, Nebraska with a degree in Social Work. She worked for Tabitha Health Care Services. She moved from Plattsmouth, Nebraska to Hastings, Nebraska in July of 2000. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and American Business Womens Association.

Patricia A. Shetler was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debra Steiner; 1 brother and 1 sister.

Ruth E. Graham Nelson

Ruth E. Nelson, 82, of Blue Hill Care Center, died Saturday, November 4, 2000 at the Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, Nebraska.

Services will be Tuesday, November 7, 2000; 10:00 at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Norman Cemetery, Norman, Nebraska.

Ruth E. Nelson was born icon April 16, 1918 in Juniata, Nebraska to Harry S. & Ella L. (Kent) Graham. She graduated from Hastings High School and in March of 1940, she married Carl Konen. He preceded her in death in 1948. In June of 1956, she married Ray E. Nelson and he preceded her in death in 1976. She was a secretary for Dobberstein Roofing Company in Kearney, Nebraska for 15 years.

Ruth E. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands, Carl Konen & Ray E. Nelson; 1 son, John Konen; 1 sister and 5 brothers.

Dorothy Dee Brader

Rural Pauline resident, Dorothy Dee Brader, 75, of 12730 S. Showboat Blvd, died Sunday, November 5, 2000 at her home.

Services will be Wednesday, November 8, 2000; 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Carl W. Utley & Rev. Matt Nieman officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.

Dorothy Dee Brader was born icon February 17, 1925 in Ogden, Utah to Ernest H. & Florence J. (Sherman) Husman. At the age of 6, she moved with her family to Pauline, Nebraska. She attended country school District #4 northwest of Pauline near her childhood home through the eighth grade. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1942 and attended Hastings College and received her teaching certificate. She taught school at her childhood school, District #4 and was later employed at the Adams County Courthouse. On January 12, 1947, she married Dale E. Brader at Pauline, Nebraska. They raised a family and farmed in the Glenvil, Nebraska area until 1965 when they moved to their current residence by Pauline, Nebraska, where they founded, River View Farms, Inc. in 1974. She was secretary until her retirement. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a past member of the Second Presbyterian Church, where she taught and was superintendent of Sunday school for many years. She was active in and led many groups within the church, community, D.A.R., Kings Daughters-a Methodist Church Group and the Adams County Historical Society.

Dorothy Dee Brader was preceded in death by her parents; 1 grandson, Brandon Brader and 1 sister.

Virgil L. Kennis, 70, of 621 Lane C, Good Samaritan Village, died Friday, November 10, 2000 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Tuesday, November 14, 2000; 11:00 A.M. at All Saints Chapel, Good Samaritan Village, Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Bill Liddell officiating. Graveside services with military rites and burial will be Saturday, November 18, 2000; 2:00 P.M. at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Ottumwa, Iowa.

Virgil L. Kennis was born icon March 16, 1930 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Frank & Eugennia Kennis. He graduated from Ottumwa High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War from September 7, 1948 to June 23, 1952. He married Esther Barnhill on November 23, 1952. They moved from St. Paul, Minnesota to Hastings, Nebraska in 1973. He worked for Great Plains Packaging and was a member of the American Legion Club, Hastings, Nebraska.

Virgil L. Kennis was preceded in death by his parents.

Henry A. ‘Hank' Stumme was born icon March 28, 1927 in Hastings, Nebraska to August & Johanna (Stekker) Stumme. He moved to Omaha, Nebraska in the 80's and was a truck driver for Louis Albert and Son Food Company in Omaha, Nebraska, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed bowling and bingo.

Albert J. Williams was born icon July 22, 1923 in Clay County, near Glenvil, Nebraska on the home farm to John & Grace K. (Mohlman) Williams. He graduated from Glenvil High School in 1940. He farmed in Clay & Adams County with his father and also fed cattle for many years. He was named Cattle Feeder of the Year in 1985 by the Cattle Feeders Association of Nebraska where he was a past member. He was member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Glenvil, Nebraska and a life long area resident.
