Services will be Wednesday, March 20, 2002; 10:00 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald E. Boeschen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Robert L. Stiner was born
October 22, 1934 in Gilman, Missouri, to Nelson & Bessie (Roiston) Stiner. He moved to Hastings, Nebraska in the early 1980's and worked for Western Land Roller. On August 29, 1992, he married Mildred Barta at Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, Nebraska. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Robert L. Stiner was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Roy Dale Stiner, great grandson, Nathaniel Swendener, 1 step daughter, Sharon Oster, 2 nephews, Terry Stiner and Richard Burkeybile.

Harry L. Schmidt
Hastings resident, Harry L. Schmidt, 88, of Perkins Pavilion, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at Perkins Pavilion.
Services will be Friday, March 15, 2002; 1:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel, Hastings, Nebraska, with Rev. Doug Griger officiating. Burial will be in Minden Cemetery, Minden, Nebraska.
Harry L. Schmidt was born
December 13, 1913 in Red Oak, Iowa to Henry & Elizabeth (Schank) Schmidt. He attended school in Red Oak, Iowa and worked in Shenandoah, Iowa before moving to Hastings, Nebraska in 1942 to help build the Naval Ammunition Depot and was also in the Civilian Conservation Corps. On July 29, 1944, he married Viola Christensen in Lincoln, Nebraska. He later managed several service stations and was owner of Smitty’s Service Station, retiring in 1975. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Knights of Pythias and of a bowling league.
Harry L. Schmidt was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Douglas Gilbert, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Lorance ‘Red’ Doyen, 78, of 504 So. Kansas, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Monday, March 11, 2002; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Stacey Nelson officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Lorance ‘Red’ Doyen was born
August 12, 1923 in Bloomington, Nebraska to Carl & Minnie (Schafer) Doyen. He attended school in Bloomington. He served in the United States Army during WWII from February 4, 1943 and was discharged on November 21, 1945. On July 16, 1947, he married Joy Dona Obester in Hastings, Nebraska. He worked at Royal Billiards, Metz Bakery and was currently a stockman for Wal-mart, all in Hastings, Nebraska. He was a life long member of Assembly of God Church, V.F.W and past president of the Eagles.

Irene Benker was born
March 10, 1924 in Webster County, Nebraska to Max & A. Mary (Johnson) Benker. She attended Rosemont School. She was a life long Webster, Hall and Adams Counties resident, moving from Juniata, to Hastings in 1969. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Irene Benker was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Carl Benker and a nephew, Dallas Benker.

February 2, 1945 in Oak, Nebraska to Cecil & Viola (Kubicek) Kershner. She moved with her family to Davenport, Nebraska where she attended and graduated from Davenport High School. She moved to Hastings, Nebraska in the early 1970's and worked at Mode O Day until the 1980's. On August 15, 1974, she married Jim Price in Hastings, Nebraska.

Hastings resident, Charles J. Theesen, Sr., 81, of 2845 South Baltimore, Hastings, Nebraska died Thursday, August 2, 2001 at the Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, Nebraska.
Service will be Monday, August 6, 2001; 10:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Kathleen Kasper officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Charles J. Theesen, Sr. was born
October 12, 1919 in Adams County, Nebraska to John O. & Antka M. (Dudden) Theesen, Sr. He was a lifelong Adams County resident, moving to Hastings in 1939 from Glenvil. He married Bonnie A. Rosenau on October 26, 1941. He worked for Dutton-Lainson for 41 years, as the machine shop supervisor and in the Research and Development Department. He was a very active member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Eagles Aerie #592 and YMCA. He was a past Boy Scout Leader for Troop #207.

Hastings resident, the Rev. Robert G. Dana, 68, of 1208 N. Kansas, died Sunday, August 5, 2001 at his home.
Private family interment. Memorial services will be Friday, August 10, 2001; 11:00 A.M. at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Barry Rempp officiating.
The Rev. Robert G. Dana was born
May 30, 1933 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont to Clarence H. & Priscilla G. (Scott) Dana. He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, St. Johnsbury, Vermont in1952 and received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Vermont, Burlington, Vermont in 1956. In 1961, he received his Bachelor of Divinity Degree from Andover Newton Theological Seminary, Boston, Massachusetts. On August 22, 1964, he married A. Sheffield Wilson in Charleston, South Carolina. He was a minister in the United Church of Christ at various locations. They moved from Cambridge, Nebraska to Hastings, Nebraska in 1990 where he was the Pastor at First Congregational United Church of Christ. After retiring, he served as a substitute minister. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Hastings, Nebraska. He held offices in the Nebraska Conference United Church of Christ, South Central Association United Church of Christ, Hastings Ministerial Association and Cotner Commission (continuing education for clergy). He was a past member of Kiwanis (officer) and Hastings Family Planning Board.
