Donald Charles Anderson, 60, 1254 Heritage Dr., Hastings, Nebraska, died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Wednesday, May 1, 2002; 10:30 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Carl W. Utley officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Donald Charles Anderson was born
January 10, 1942 in Hastings, Nebraska to Vern C. & Golden (Rule) Anderson. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School and from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration in January 1965. On June 19, 1964, he married Pat A. Mapes at the First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, Nebraska. He was a management trainee with State Farm Insurance in Lincoln, Nebraska from January 1965 to February 1966 when he became Personnel Director with Western Land Roller Company, Hastings, Nebraska. He served as a member of the Board of Directors and Corporate Secretary until it sold to Ingersoll-Rand Company in 1977. He left Ingersoll-Rand Company in May of 1980 and became owner/operator of Phelps Liquors until it was sold in December of 1990. From 1991 to the present, he was the Director of Professional Development at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. Don was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club where he was past Director and President, Director of Hastings Business Improvement District Board, Lochland Country Club where he was past Director and President, Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and a life member of UNL Alumni Association. He was a past Director of Hastings State Bank, Hastings Area United Way, Hastings Utilities Board of Public Works, Salvation Army Advisory Board and Midwest Employer’s Council, Omaha, Nebraska. He also was past President of Hastings Area United Way and Past Secretary of the Board for Hastings Utilities Board of Public Works. He was an avid Nebraska Husker Football fan and enjoyed snow skiing.

Ralph B. Kometscher, 82, of #73 Kingston Dr., Hastings, Nebraska, died Monday, May 6, 2002 at BryanLGH Medical Center East, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 10, 2002; 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Ralph B. Kometscher was born
November 11, 1919 in Lawrence, Nebraska to Frank J. & Lena (Lemke) Kometscher. He was a self employed farmer at Lawrence, Nebraska. He moved to Hastings after retiring in 1984. He was a Golden Eagle member of Aerie #592.
He enjoyed playing cards and he loved his Shih Tzu dogs, Cee Cee & Cherie.
Ralph B. Kometscher was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Julie Kometscher.

Josephine E. Jackson was born
August 6, 1908 in Wilbaux, Montana to George & Irene (Clark) James. She graduated from Madison High School, Madison, Wisconsin and Northwestern Bible School, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She married Lloyd Alton Jackson on June 6, 1931 and he preceded her in death in 1989. They were missionaries for 3 ½ years in Colorado during the depression. They served churches at Riverside Community Church in Sioux Falls, SD, Bridgewater and Canistota Presbyterian Churches in South Dakota, and the Presbyterian Church in Pawnee City, NE. They moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1958 where they served the Second Presbyterian Church and the Hanover Church. She taught at Hope Training School for several years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Circle.

Leonard D. Dudek, 81, of Haven Home, Kenesaw, Nebraska, died Friday, May 10, 2002 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, Nebraska.
Services will be Tuesday, May 14, 2002; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Matt Nieman officiating. Burial will Wednesday, May 15, 2002; 1:00 P.M. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska.
Leonard D. Dudek was born
February 11, 1921 in Campbell, Nebraska to Otto V. & Marie B. (Rehn) Dudek. He attended the Presbyterian Church in Campbell, Nebraska as a youth. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1941. On July 15, 1943, he married Ruth Randa and they later divorced. He was a psych tech at the Hastings Regional Center and also in Douglas County. He also was a welder at Western Land Roller in Hastings. He lived in Omaha, Nebraska from 1961-1998 when he returned to Hastings and resided at the Kensington for 6 months. He then moved to Haven Home in Kenesaw, Nebraska. He was a member of Mason Lodge #50 in Hastings, Nebraska.

LaMoine W. Utecht, 77, of 5802 Quail Ridge Ave, died Thursday, May 16, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lincoln, Nebraska
Services will be Monday, May 20, 2002; 2:00 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald E. Boeschen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
LaMoine W. Utecht was born
April 28, 1925 in Adams County, Nebraska to William & Lora (Hazebrook) Utecht. He attended country school and graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1945. On August 14, 1949, he married Thalia Burns, in Hastings, Nebraska. He was a life-long resident of Adams County and served on the District 33 board of education, the Rural Fire Department, Co-op Board and the Farm Bureau, where he was president in 1975-1976. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and served on various boards. He was clerk of the West Blue Township, served on the Adams County Planning and Zoning Commission and he and his wife were 4-H leaders.

Anne Bartholomew, 57, of 520 Forest Blvd, died Saturday, May 25, 2002 at Bryan LGH Medical Center West, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, May 29, 2002; 10:00 A.M. at French Memorial Chapel, Hastings College with Rev. David B. McCarthy officiating. Reception following service at Hastings College. Private family interment will be at a later date.
Anne Bartholomew was born
March 2, 1945 in Orange County. New Jersey to Philip L. & Mae (Carroll) Bartholomew. She served in the United States Air Force and moved to Adams County over 30 years ago. She graduated from Hastings College with a degree in Education. She worked for the Mid-Nebraska Individual Services Inc.

Services will be Thursday, May 30, 2002; 10:00 A.M. at Church of Christ, 12th & Laird, Hastings, Nebraska with Ken Ellis, Jerry Kendall and Howard Kendall officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, rural Hastings, Nebraska.
Estella A. Shriver was born
April 19, 1943 in Jefferson, Iowa to William Lewis & Leota Fern (Heuton) Kendall. She graduated from Jefferson High School, Jefferson, Iowa on May 26, 1961 and attended York College, York, Nebraska. She moved from Grand Island, Nebraska to Hastings, Nebraska in 1972 and married Ted W. Shriver at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska on January 6, 1973. She worked for Mode O’ Day, was a bus driver for District 60 and Adams County Handi Bus, Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Cafeteria and was a youth care specialist at the Hastings Regional Center, Hastings, Nebraska. She was a member of the Church of Christ church.

Robert J. Burch, Sr. was born
September 7, 1907 in Noble County, Oklahoma to Joel M. & Minnie A. (McKee) Burch. At the age of 16, he began working in the oil fields for Gulf Oil Company as an oil driller, retiring after 39 years. He married Eva Marie Howe in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on February 8, 1932 and she preceded him in death on November 25, 1988. He moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1977 from Oklahoma.

Hastings resident, Carl A. Sanderson, Jr., 68 of 2711 Butterfoot Lane, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota.
Memorial service will be Monday, June 3, 2002; 2:30 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Rev. Carl W. Utley officiating. Private family burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska prior to church service.
Carl A. Sanderson, Jr. was born
March 12, 1934 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Carl A. & Verna (Adams) Sanderson. He graduated from Aurora High School, Aurora, Nebraska in 1952. He participated in football and graduated from Hastings College, Hastings, Nebraska in 1956 with a BA Degree. He served in the United States Army at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas from July 30, 1956 to July 29, 1958. On June 8, 1957, he married Florence Achziger in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He began his career as an insurance claims adjuster in Omaha, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa in1958 and moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1961 as manager of General Adjustment Bureau. He joined Ellerbrock-Norris Insurance Agency in 1963, retiring in 2000. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon and Trustee. He was also a member of Lochland Country Club. He was a past member of Jaycees, Elks Club, Kiwanis, Mid-West Lodge #317, Scottish Rite, Shrine, Sandheaters, Hastings School board from 1976-1980 and Vice President of Chamber of Commerce. He was co-founder of the Hastings midget football program along with Chuck Stickels.
