Elaine V. Consbruck was born
April 3, 1932 in St. Francis, Kansas to Emil & Martha (Lukas) Lampe. She graduated from St. Francis High School, St. Francis, Kansas and moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1950. She graduated from Bonnell School of Cosmetology, Hastings, Nebraska and married Richard F. ‘Dick’ Consbruck on April 30, 1955. She worked at Hastings Drug & Fay’s Drive In Drug for 28 years. She was a Hallmark representative for 20 years. She was a member of St. Michael’s Church, Altar Society and Hastings Catholic Activities Association Hall of Fame. She was Knights of Columbus- Lady Knight of the Year and the Consbruck family was the Family of the Year.
Elaine V. Consbruck was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Merlin & Larry Lampe.

Dale R. Ruxton, 64, of 130 East ‘A’ Street, died Sunday, October 6, 2002 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Wednesday, October 9, 2002; 2:00 P.M. at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Hirsch officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Dale R. Ruxton was born
November 8, 1937 in Hastings, Nebraska to Frank & Marie (Glantz) Ruxton. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1955. On May 28, 1960, he married Jeanne Whiting. He worked for Hastings Equity Grain Bin Manufacturing Company for 25 years and retired after 17 years from Thermo King. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was a past church elder. He was a life long Hastings resident.

Katie Asmus was born
October 27, 1907 in rural Clay County, Nebraska to Claus & Helen (Saathoff) Hinrichs. She married Frederick Asmus on February 28, 1928 in Glenvil, Nebraska and he preceded her in death in 1987. They farmed in rural Adams County before she moved into Hastings, Nebraska in 1995.
Katie Asmus was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frederick, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

Rose I. Mousel, 92, of The Kensington, died Saturday, October 5, 2002 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Rosary service will be Tuesday, October 8, 2002; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 9, 2002; 10:30 A.M. Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Roseland, Nebraska with Father Thomas Au officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery, Roseland, Nebraska.
Rose I. Mousel was born
August 2, 1910 in Petersburg, Nebraska to John & Mary (Theisen) Schmitz. She married Vincent Willmes on December 26, 1935 in Funk, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on January 7, 1954. On September 11, 1956, she married Gerhard Mousel at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Roseland, Nebraska and he preceded her in death in November 24, 1987. She lived in Hastings, Nebraska for the past 12 years, moving from Roseland, Nebraska. She was a homemaker and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its Altar Society, Roseland, Nebraska.

Hughie Rich ‘Carp’ Carpenter was born
December 7, 1909 in Bigelow, Kansas to George Gaylord & Zella Ivan (Fairchild) Carpenter. He attended schools in Bigelow and Frankfort, Kansas. On December 28, 1929, he married Verla E. Walls in Englewood, Colorado and she preceded him in death in 1991. He worked in logging camps in Washington state; farmed in Kansas and Nebraska and retired from Montgomery Ward & Company of Hastings, Nebraska. He received many awards for his charitable works: Volunteer award from The Nebraska Department of Social Services, The Sunshine Award from KOLN-KGIN TV, appointed an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska by past governor, Charles Thone, Outstanding Nebraska Volunteer of the Year by the AkSarBen and the Omaha World Herald. He delivered Meals on Wheels in Doniphan 18+ years. He served on the Board of the Midland Area Agency on Aging and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Doniphan, Nebraska.

October 2, 1914 in St. Louis, Missouri to Phillip & Katherine (Liwkowitz) Dynak. She married Dr. Don Murray and he preceded her in death on December 26, 1990. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and P.E.O. Chapter G.

Virginia Foster, 88, of Perkins Pavilion, died Saturday, October 5, 2002 at Perkins Pavilion.
Services will be Friday, October 11, 2002; 10:30 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Carl W. Utley officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, Nebraska.
Virginia Foster was born
October 20, 1913 in her grandfather’s home at 221 East B. Hutchinson, Kansas to William Noah & Lydia (Montgomery) Sidlinger at 4:00 p.m. Eye problems prevented her attending school until the 4th grade. She graduated from Hutchinson Senior High School where she was active in many groups and was one of ten seniors selected by a community committee, named among the top graduates. She graduated from Hutchinson Junior College and then from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas with a B.S. in Journalism. She grew up planning to be a concert musician and had won a number of honors in piano but switched to journalism at Manhattan, Kansas. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. On August 8, 1940, she married Dr. Neil C. Gustafson and assisted him in his Veterinary practice in several Kansas towns. While at Lindsborg, their oldest son, Stephen was born; while stationed at Ft. Riley, their daughter, Deborah was born
and while at McPherson, their youngest son, Mark was born. They moved to Hastings, Nebraska while the children were small in January 1956 to escape the Kansas drought. She was always active in young adults and women’s work. She and Dr. Gustafson served two terms as Synod Skippers (President) and five years on the National Board as First Mates and were serving as Skippers when Dr. Gustafson died of a heart attack. Following his death, she managed the Physicians Building office for ten years. During this time, she married John B. Foster on July 8, 1967 and he preceded her in death in April 1999. They moved to Alliance, Nebraska for 11 years where she organized a four county genealogical society and began a home-based business in genealogical supplies, traveling as a vendor to workshops in seven states. She also was Editor of the Family Records Association Journal for nine years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, Nebraska.
Virginia Foster was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Dr. Neil C. Gustafson, John B. Foster, younger sister, Frances Jean and a brother, William Arthur.

August 2, 1943 in Hastings, Nebraska to Ed & Ella (Markwardt) Albers. He participated at Hope Training School, Mid-Nebraska Individual Services and Martin Luther Homes Services. He worked at Pizza Hut and volunteered at Good Samaritan Village both in Hastings, Nebraska . He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

E. Virginia ‘Kewpie’ Harms was born
September 17, 1921 in Bennet, Nebraska to Frank B. & Marie (Canter) Onken. She graduated from Glenvil High School, Glenvil, Nebraska in 1939. On August 12, 1942, she married Warren Harms in the Frank Onken’s home. They lived on a farm south of Fairfield, Nebraska for the first 13 years of their marriage and then resided in the communities of Crete, Glenvil, Minden and returned then to Fairfield. They also resided with their daughter, Aletha Cornish in Bennet, Nebraska in the later years. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Glenvil, Nebraska, Gideon Bible Society, Adams-Clay County Camp and a member and officer of Ladies Aid Society, Bethany Lutheran Minden, Nebraska.
