Former Hastings resident, Gloria Jean Hale, 68, of Gladewater, Texas, died Tuesday, December 10, 2002 at Good Shepherd Hospital, Longview, Texas.
Services will be Monday, December 16, 2002; 10:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Dr. Sam Rathod officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Gloria Jean Hale was born
October 5, 1934 in Hastings, Nebraska to J. Carl & Elsie (Woodard) Jones. She graduated from Hastings High School and on February 14, 1953, she married William Hale. They attended First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School. She also taught piano for many years and was a member of the National Guild of Musicians. They moved to Gladewater, Texas in 1978 and she worked at the First State/Hibernia Bank until her retirement in 1999. She was a member and the pianist at First United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, BPW and the Chamber of Commerce, all in Gladewater, Texas.
Gloria Jean Hale was preceded in death by her father, sister, Lois Ayer and a brother, Lavern ‘Smokey’ Jones.

Faye Clark was born
October 2, 1927 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to David J. & Opal Velma (Fountain) McIntosh. She married Robert L. Clark on July 17, 1945 and he preceded her in death on March 29, 1985. She was co-owner/operator of Hastings Greenhouse for many years. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church, Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Faye Clark was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, son Michael, an infant brother, Gerald, sister, Carolyn Turpin, brothers, Richard, Harvey and Soloman McIntosh.

Patricia F. Consbruck was born
December 2, 1931 in Culbertson, Nebraska to Thomas & Marie (Schlosser) Kennedy. She grew up in Juniata, Nebraska, moved to Colorado and then to Hastings, Nebraska. She retired as a Psych Technician at the Hastings Regional Center. She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church.

Ellen Marie Dwyer was born
October 12, 1914 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Charles & Marcia (McFarland) Ott. She graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1930. On June 12, 1937, she married Raymond Dwyer and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1984. They moved to Hastings, Nebraska from Atlantic, Iowa in 1954. She was a secretary for Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company for 20 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Church Circle #5, Eastern Star for over 70 years and the Acacia Chapter #39 for over 45 years.
Ellen Dwyer was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond and a brother, Raymond.

Russell F. Rapier, 54, of 318 University Ave., went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 5, 2002 at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Lukes Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois.
Services will be Monday, December 9, 2002; 1:00 P.M. at Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Randy Madison officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska.
Russell F. Rapier was born
August 14, 1948 in El Paso, Texas to Grady Venson & Norma Mae (Person) Rapier. He graduated from York High School, Elmhurst, Illinois in 1966. He married Elizabeth Ann Petersen in Dannebrog, Nebraska in 1970 and graduated from Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois with a B.A. in sociology. He obtained his Masters in Christian Education from Denver Seminary, Denver, Colorado in 1973. He later earned a M.S. from the University of Nebraska, Omaha, in Agency Counseling. Since 1980, he was the director and Therapist at Hastings Christian Counseling. He moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1980 where he had been active in the Hastings Evangelical Free Church where he served in many capacities including church chairman, Elder, Sunday School teacher and Awana leader. He served on the Board of Directors of Timberlake Ranch Camp overseeing the equestrian program. He was a member of the Board of Ministerial Standing for Midwest District of the EFCA. Additionally, he held memberships to the American Association of Christian Counselors, Sun Rise Rotary Club, Sand Hills Hunting and Jumping Club and Lochland Country Club.

Josephine ‘Jo’ Snyder, 89, of 910 E. 3rd Ave., died Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Services will be Monday, December 9, 2002; 2:00 P.M. Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald E. Boeschen officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Josephine ‘Jo’ Snyder was born
December 1, 1913 in Webster County, south of Rosemont, Nebraska to William & Sophia (Blobaum) Arends. She was baptized April 26,1914 by Pastor Walter J. Ahrens. She moved with her family to Bethune, Colorado in 1923. She was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church on May 20, 1928 in Stratton, Colorado. She graduated from the 8th grade on May 30, 1928 from Bethune High School, Bethune, Colorado. She married David Paul Snyder at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sterling, Colorado on November 16, 1937. They moved to Hastings, Nebraska in April 1947. Josephine, better known as ‘Jo’ to everyone, was active in church work and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church since 1949. She was a member of LWML and the Concordia Guild for many years. She served on the Altar Guild for 15 years and the Flower Committee for 14 years. She sewed many quilt tops for Lutheran World Relief. Jo worked at Mode O’ Day Factory for 15 years and managed the Mode O’ Day Remnant Store for 9 ½ years. She also worked at the Martin Lutheran Store and several other places. She lived in the home that she and her husband built in 1953.

Joseph Merle Abbott was born
October 17, 1914 in Hastings, Nebraska to Joseph M. & Grace (Tower) Abbott. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1933 and attended Hastings College for 2 years. On May 23, 1936, he married, Lydia Hoffman and she preceded him in death in 1994. During his professional career as a civil engineer, he lived in 10 different states and 25 different cities. He retired after 45 years in Bryan, Texas in June of 1977. He returned to Hastings, Nebraska in 1982. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Masonic Rite #317, A.F. & A.M., and Scottish Rites.

July 14, 1984 in Hastings, Nebraska to David & Gwendolyn (Johnson) Frasier. He graduated from Hastings High School in 2002 and was currently a student at Central Community College, Hastings, Nebraska. He worked at Village Inn and was a member of Keystone Baptist Church, both in Hastings, Nebraska. He was a life long area resident.

Phillip Wilson Kreutz, 65, of 205 S.’K’ Rd, Giltner, Nebraska, died Thursday, January 30, 2003 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Tuesday, February 4, 2003; 2:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church, Harvard, Nebraska with Pastor Kathy Bullard officiating. Burial will be in Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, Nebraska.
Phillip Kreutz was born
April 16, 1937 in Harvard, Nebraska to Rolland & Mamie (Wilson) Kreutz. He graduated from Harvard High School in 1954 and the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, in 1958, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He married Judy Bye in February 1966 in Trumbull, Nebraska. He was an active member of Harvard First United Methodist Church, past member of the Nebraska Democratic Party and Harvard School Board. He farmed in the Harvard-Giltner area his entire life and enjoyed building & flying radio controlled airplanes.
