Rosary service will be Friday, April 4, 2003; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 5, 2003; 9:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church with Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery, Campbell, Nebraska.

January 21, 1957 in Hastings, Nebraska to Jerome D. & Arzella N. (Soucie) Choquette. She attended school in Fairfield, Nebraska and graduated from Pope John Catholic Schools in Elgin, Nebraska in 1975. She attended College of St. Mary’s, Omaha, Nebraska and Norfolk Technical School, Norfolk, Nebraska. She returned to Hastings, Nebraska in 1980 and was an Assistant Meat Manager at Allen’s for 22 years. She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church.

Former Juniata resident, Wilhelmina J. Hock, 82, of Exempla Colorado Lutheran Home, Arvada, Colorado, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at her home.
Services will be Friday, May 30, 2003; 1:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Don Christensen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Wilhelmina J. Hock was born
August 2, 1920 in Hanover, Nebraska, to John & Gertie (Smidt) Eihusen. She married Charley F. Hock on August 2, 1944 in Adams County, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1980. She was a homemaker and her family were past members of United Methodist Church, Juniata, Nebraska. She lived in Juniata until 1982 when she moved to Kansas and in 1992, moved to Denver, Colorado
Wilhelmina J. Hock was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charley, 4 brothers, 6 sisters, an infant daughter, Sally, an infant grandson, Chad, son of Mary and a son-in-law, Larry Ponder, husband of Rita.

William F. Gettmann
William F. Gettmann, 93, of 830 N. Pine Ave, died Monday, May 19, 2003 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services with Masonic Rites will be Wednesday, May 21, 2003; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Doug Griger officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
William F. Gettmann was born
December 11, 1909 in Hastings, Nebraska to John K. & Marie B. (Frick) Gettmann. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1929. On July 16, 1932, he married Edna Herbst in McCook, Nebraska and she preceded him in death on October 17, 1995. He was an estimator, salesman and secretary of Central Nebraska Millwork Company and later the Chief Progress Engineer during the construction of the Naval Ammunition Depot, Hastings, Nebraska. He then became the Architectural Engineer in the Engineering and Design Division at the Naval Ammunition Deport for sixteen years. For 7 ½ years, he was the Construction Management Engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation at Farwell Irrigation. He was a member of First United Methodist church, since June 1, 1941 and served on the Board of Trustees. He was a City Councilman for 2 years and Mayor of Hastings for 3 years. He was also a 10 year member of the Board of Public Works, Masonic Lodge No. 317 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, Tehama Temple, United Commercial Travelers, AARP and a life member of P.T.A. Bill enjoyed life, loved people, his church and his lodge affiliation. He loved being able to serve the citizens of Hastings as Councilman and Mayor. He was a long time Republican Party supporter.

Hastings resident, Ronald Howard Hofeldt, 58, of 720 Oakmont Ave., died Tuesday morning, May 13, 2003 at BryanLGH Medical Center East, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Thursday, May 15, 2003; 7:30 P.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 16, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Ronald Howard Hofeldt was born
March 22, 1945 in Charles City, Iowa to Howard & Jeannette (Scott) Hofeldt. He graduated from Grand Island High School and attended Business College in Lincoln, Nebraska for 2 years. On January 27, 1968, he married Doris Synowski. He was an accountant for Hastings Irrigation Pipe Company for over 35 years. He was very dedicated to the baseball program in Hastings. He was the co-founder of the Hastings Indians baseball team and was proud to have started a program in which players could enjoy baseball and work at the same time. He was also the founder of a kickball league for children with disabilities. He enjoyed helping others tremendously. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where he was an acolyte, St. Michael’s Men’s Club and the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree. He was a past President of the Hastings Catholic School Board.

Violet F. Schmitt, 93, of 233 N. Hastings #605, Hastings, Nebraska, went to the Lord, Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at The Kensington.
Services will be Monday, May 19, 2003; 1:00 P.M. at United Methodist Church, Daykin, Nebraska with Rev. Glen Holtz & Rev. Baldeo Singh officiating. Burial will be in Eureka Cemetery, rural Daykin, Nebraska.
Violet F. Schmitt was born
November 14, 1909 in Jefferson County, near Daykin, Nebraska to William A. & Elizabeth E. (Mulinix) Houck. She graduated from Daykin High School in 1928. On December 28, 1928, she married Winford D. Schmitt and he preceded her in death in 1985. They farmed near Daykin until their retirement. She was a homemaker and active in the Women’s Group of the Daykin United Methodist Church, Farmer’s Wives and a past member of Flying Farmers. She moved to The Kensington at Hastings, Nebraska in September of 1989 and continued her hobbies of music, painting as well as quilting with the First United Methodist ladies at Hastings.
Violet F. Schmitt was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Winford and a daughter, Winifred.

Roberta Jean ‘Bobbie’ Sentelle was born
February 17, 1938 in Hastings, Nebraska to Bud & Maxine (Wymore) Renschler. She grew up in Juniata, Nebraska and graduated from Juniata High School in 1955. On April 26, 1957, she married Donald Pozorski in Hastings and he preceded her in death in 1970. They lived in St. Cloud, Minnesota where she operated a ceramic shop. In 1978, she married Robert Sentelle and he preceded her in death in 1998 in Tucson, Arizona. She moved to Juniata in 1998 and worked at the Juniata Lounge.
Roberta Jean ‘Bobbie’ Sentelle was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Donald Pozorski and Robert Sentelle and a granddaughter, Melissa Marie Pozorski.

Velma V. ‘Punk’ Smith was born
June 11, 1928 in Hastings, Nebraska to Henry D. & Helena O. (Theesen) Stamer. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1945 and married Peter A. Smith on November 20, 1947 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1981. She was a homemaker and also a telephone operator. They moved from Hastings to Marysville, Kansas in September of 1972. She was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. She joined the Railroad Trainman Auxiliary, now Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union, on November 20, 1951 and received her 50 year pin. She was a past president for the auxiliary. Velma was a seamstress, enjoyed bowling, gardening and caring for her family. She was an avid Kansas State football fan.

Arlene Laux was born
July 10, 1924 in Blue Hill, Nebraska to Edward & Bertha (Goedert) Schnase. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Hill, Nebraska on August 3, 1924 . She moved to Adams County, Nebraska in 1932 and was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Doniphan, Nebraska on May 16, 1937. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1941 and worked for Hastings Typewriter until 1943. On September 25, 1943, she married Robert Laux in Miami, Florida, where he was stationed with the United States Navy. She lived in Boston, Massachusetts for one year during WWII. After his discharge, they moved to the Hastings, Nebraska area where they farmed. In 1988, they moved into Hastings. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and Priscilla Circle. She was a volunteer for many years at Perkins Pavilion at Good Samaritan Village.
