Peggy Cunningham
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- Peggy Ann Cunningham, 43, of Chillicothe, Ohio, formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at her home following an extended illness.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ware Funeral Home. The Rev. Jonathan J.H. McReynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Phillip; two sons, John-Paul Shopel of Grove City, Ohio, and Christopher Cunningham, at home; a daughter, Kaitlyn Cunningham, at home; her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Burl Leeson of Austin, Texas; her father and stepmother, John W. and Nancy Baker of Grand Island and five sisters, Linda (Mrs. Michael) Goode of Scottsdale, Ariz., Debbie (Mrs. William) Lambert of The Woodlands, Texas, Libi (Mrs. Steve) Upshaw of Claremore, Okla., and Tracy (Mrs. Craig) Moyer and Lori Went, both of Grand Island.
Cheryl Guerrero
Cheryl Ann Guerrero, 34, of Grand Island died July 29, 2000, at Julesburg, Colo., as a result of an automobile accident.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home, 2929 S. Locust. The Rev. Herbert Schutte will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Guerrero was born
on Feb. 26, 1966, at Springfield, Mass., to Dean and Pat (Bird) Bierhaus. She grew up and was educated in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1984.
She married Troy Utley in September 1985.
She married David Guerrero on Dec. 19, 1992, at Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island. She worked at the Oak Grove Inn.
She enjoyed flowers and jigsaw puzzles and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, David Guerrero Jr. of Hastings and Zack Utley and Joel Guerrero, at home; three daughters, Kaleigh Utley, Sapphire Utley and Nisha Guerrero, all at home; one granddaughter; her parents, of Grand Island; one sister, Rose Paxton of Grand Island; two brothers, John Little of St. Paul and Timothy Bierhaus of Grand Island; and her grandmother, Elaine Bierhaus of Grand Island.
'Kay' Riggle
L. Catherine "Kay" Riggle, 82, of Grand Island died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Entombment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the food pantry.
Mrs. Riggle was born
on Feb. 7, 1918, at Grand Island to Leroy and Catherine (Wartnaby) Brown. She grew up and was educated in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High. She worked for various businesses in the Grand Island area.
She married Jack Maupin in Grand Island in 1938. Following her graduation from beauty school in 1962, she owned and operated the Palmerette Beauty Salon until retiring in 1974.
She married Roy Riggle in 1976 in Grand Island. He died on May 11, 1993.
Mrs. Riggle was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, an active member of Eagles Aerie 378 and the Eagles Auxiliary and a past member of the American Legion.
She loved to crochet for her family and enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles and Big Red football. She loved to read and was a volunteer for the Howard Elementary School mentoring program.
Survivors include four daughters, Kaye (Mrs. Deryl) Bayne, Jean (Mrs. Richard) Preisendorf, Diane (Bennett) Walton and Holly (Simonson) Pfeifer, all of Grand Island; one son, Stephen Bennett of Grand Island; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and a niece, Arlyn Masten of Grand Island, who was raised by Mrs. Riggle.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister, Winifred "Wini" Baldwin; and one great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Cunningham was born
on Nov. 10, 1956, at Grand Island to John W. and Dorothy (Schnuelle) Baker. She attended schools in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1975. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln.
After graduating from Hocking Tech in Chillicothe with an associate's degree in nursing, she worked as a registered nurse at several area hospitals and nursing homes.
She married Philip M. Cunningham on Sept. 4, 1993.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, John-Paul Shopel of Grove City, Ohio, and Christopher Cunningham, at home; a daughter, Kaitlyn Cunningham, at home; her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Burl Lesson of Austin, Texas; and her father and stepmother, John W. and Nancy Baker of Grand Island.
Patricia Kruse
HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. -- Patricia Ann Kruse, 56, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at Englewood, Colo.
Services were on Thursday at Cherry Hills Community Church in Highlands Ranch. Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery at Littleton, Colo.
Chapel Hill Mortuary of Littleton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kruse was born
on May 1, 1944, at Hartford, Conn. She graduated from Buckles High School in Hartford in 1962. She worked for Aetna Life and Casualty as a secretary.
She married Gary Stacy Kruse of Grand island on July 18, 1970, at Hartford.
She enjoyed reading and biking and loved to skate.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Gary Patrick Kruse of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Stacey Ann Kruse of San Diego; two sisters, Gloria Lumbardo of Weathersfield, Conn., and Connie Kehoe of Mansfield, Mass; and her mother, Sandra Rizzio of Weathersfield, Conn.

BARTEL, Leonard E., age 77, of Omaha, NE, died peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Leonard was born
in Mountain Lake, Minnesota & graduated from Mountain Lake High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and graduated from Minneapolis Business College.
He was employed in various sales positions, retiring from Montgomery Ward in 1991.
