Florence Fisher of Chadron died Jan. 10 at Crestview Care Center. She was 86.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 13 at 1:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, with Pastor Al Trucano officiating.

Mrs. Fisher was born icon March 3, 1922.

Julie Ann Lehman
Nov. 28, 1952-July 27, 2009

Julie Ann Lehman of Chadron died July 27 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was 56.

Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. at the Chadron State College Student Center ballroom, with Dr. Russ Seger officiating.

Mrs. Lehman was born icon on Nov. 28, 1952 in Vermillion, S.D.

Survivors include: her mother, Betty Jo Lehman; husband Dave Lehman of Chadron; son, Steffan Lehman of Chadron; daugher, Kirsten McCracken, and a sister, Jana Whitlock.

Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.

Prendes, Jose

Jose Prendes, 87 years of age of Lincoln died Saturday 10/10/09

Born Havana, Cuba. Member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church since 1963. Member of The Living Rosary, Auxiliary Member of Legion of Mary. Retired employee of National Manufacturing Co. (20 yrs.), Lincoln Public Schools (10 years)

Preceded in death by his parents, a son, the late Dr. Jose Luis Prendes, 1 brother, 1 sister, and 1 nephew

Survivors include his wife: Olga; Sons: Eduardo of Dania, Florida, Dr. Carlos & wife Patricia of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Jorge & wife Diane of Houston, Texas, Javier of Lincoln, and Miguel & wife Kelli of Joplin, Missouri; Daughters: Maria Elena Albo of Miami, Florida, and Dr. Maria Prendes- Lintel & husband James of Lincoln; Daughter-in-law—Marielena Prendes of Omaha; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 1 niece.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, 10/14/09 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1704 Lake Street, with Father John Sullivan officiating.

Rosary: 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street

Burial: Calvary Cemetery

Henry Schaaf

COLUMBUS -- Henry W. Schaaf, 75, of Platte Center died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Services were today at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Columbus with the Rev. John E. Nelson Jr. officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post 84.

Mr. Schaaf was born icon on Jan. 2, 1924, in Parma, Ohio, to Ward and Lucile (Staas) Schaaf. He graduated from Parma Schaaf High School in 1942 and received a bachelor of science degree in agricultural engineering in 1950 from Ohio State University.

He married Erma Lillich on Aug. 8, 1948. He lived in Platte Center for the past 15 years.

He was an advanced engineer for General Motors until 1966 then worked as an agricultural engineer for various companies in Nebraska. After retiring, he worked as a consulting engineer.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-46. He belonged to the American Legion in Platte Center and the church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary of Lafayette, La., and Mark of Platte Center; two daughters, Rebecca Madsen of North Fork, Idaho, and Debra Middleton of Kearney; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are to the church.

Gass-Haney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Caelan Hopwood

OSCEOLA -- Caelan P. Hopwood, 1-year-old son of Ronald and Darla (Gerdes) Hopwood of Shelby, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Children's Hospital in Omaha.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby with the Rev. John Copenhaver officiating. Burial is at the parish cemetery.

Visitation is 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kepner-Roberts Funeral Home in Osceola.

Caelan was born icon June 18, 1997, in David City.

Besides his parents, survivors include one brother, Seth, at home; one sister, Cari, at home; grandparents, Gerald and Donna Hopwood of Shelby and Herman and Donna Gerdes of Stromsburg; and great-grandparents, Leon and Verda Hopwood of Geneva.

Laddie Dolezal

DAVID CITY -- Laddie J. Dolezal, 75, of David City died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at David Place in David City.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City with Monsignor Adrian Herbek officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery with military honors by Kregger American Legion Post 125 of David City.

Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday and continues until after a 7 p.m. wake service and 7:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary, all at Roberts Funeral Home in David City. There will also be visitation from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Dolezal was born icon Dec. 12, 1923, to Joseph and Hermina (Kudlacek) Dolezal in Touhy. He graduated from David City High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army from 1948-49.

On Dec. 6, 1980, he married JaeDeane (Nuernberger) Seggerman in David City.

He was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the church and past member of its parish council. He served more than 40 years on the David City Volunteer Fire Department; served from 1992-96 on the Butler County Board of Supervisors; and was a member of the Kregger American Legion Post 125 and Knights of Columbus.

He played the accordion with the Bud Comte Orchestra and the Matt Sladky Polka Band. He also played accordion with and was a member of the Butler County Czech Club.

Survivors include his wife; his mother of David City; four stepdaughters, Joyce Callahan of Denver, Kimberly (Brian) Murray of Kansas City, Mo., Lynne Grimm of Branson, Mo., and Shawn (Jason) Rosenkranz of Brookings, S.D.; two brothers, Alfred (Christine) of Columbus and Anton (Betty) of David City; two sisters, Agnes (Bill) Kobza of Lincoln and Rita (Ken) Moser of Overland Park, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Herman.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Alvin Mattox

COLUMBUS -- The Rev. Alvin Ronald Mattox, 78, of Bellwood died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at his home.

Services are 3 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus. Burial is at Roselawn Cemetery in Columbus with military honors by Hartman Post 84 American Legion Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church from 2 p.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be directed to the family, Covenant Cedars Bible Camp or Timberlake Bible Camp.

Marlene Fluckiger

COLUMBUS - Marlene K. Fluckiger, 63, of Columbus died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at Columbus Community Hospital.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Main officiating. Burial will be at Jackson Cemetery in Duncan.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. today at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Fluckiger was born icon March 24, 1937, on her grandparents' farm near Duncan. She graduated from Silver Creek High School.

She married Carroll "Cub" Fulckiger on April 16, 1955 in Silver Creek. She lived near Duncan most of her life. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the church, a charter member in 1964 of the Duncan Fire Department Auxillary and a member of the American Legion Auxilliary 263 in Silver Creek. She was a past board member and caretaker of Jackson Cemetery Association and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3704 Auxilliary.

Survivors include two sons, Mark (Paula) Fluckiger and Duane (Laurie) Fluckiger, all of Duncan; two daughters, Diane Boruch and Terri Hager, both of Duncan; one brother, Robert (Karen) Edmison of rural Columbus; and two sisters, Sheryl A. (Bruce) Eddings of Aurora, Colo., and Beverly A. Hutzell of Memphis, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Frances Brown

COLUMBUS - Frances Brown, 85, of Columbus died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Services are pending with McKown Funeral Home in Columbus in charge of arrangements.

Antonette Bartek

DAVID CITY - Antonette Bartek, 92, of David City, formerly of Valparaiso, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at David Place in David City.

Services are pending with Halesovsky Mortuary in Brainard.

Elon Brewer

COLUMBUS - Elon W. Brewer, 85, of Columbus died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Edgewood Vista in Columbus.

Services will be at a later date.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus.

Joseph Bogus

FULLERTON - Joseph Bogus, 95, of Fullerton died Friday, June 29, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare in Fullerton.

Services are pending with Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.

Mabel Moon

OSCEOLA -- Mabel C. Moon, 93, of David City, formerly of Shelby, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Shelby with the Rev. J. John R. Green officiating. Burial will be at Shelby Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kepner-Roberts Funeral Home in Osceola.

Mrs. Moon was born icon Nov. 25, 1907, in Ava, Mo., to Gene and Jennie (Ferris) Reynolds. She went to Peru State College in Peru and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

She married Glen H. Moon on Aug. 11, 1935, in Omaha. She lived in Shelby and was an elementary school teacher.

She was a member of the church.

Survivors include one son, Roger (Judy) Moon of Shelby; one daughter, Bonnie Gregory of Denver; one brother, Basil (Helen) Hendrix of Portland, Ind.; one sister, Geraldine Gant of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 21, 1972.
