Marcel Andel

SCHUYLER -- Marcel Frank Andel, 69, of Schuyler, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler with the Rev. Gerald Leise officiating. Burial will be at Schuyler Cemetery.

Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today and 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday, all at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel in Schuyler.

Mr. Andel was born icon July 24, 1932, in rural Butler County, near Appleton, to Frank and Veronica (Janak) Andel. He was educated at Appleton grade school and David City High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived on the farm near Appleton until moving to Schuyler in 1958. He continued to farm in Butler County and was an avid outdoorsman.

He married Dolores Sedlacek on Aug. 9, 1958, in Schuyler.

He was a member of the church, past member of McLeod Post 47 of the American Legion and Hespen-Mitchell Post 4836 of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jim (Brenda) Andel and Steve Andel, all of Lincoln; one grandson; three sisters, Martha Sejkora of Arizona, Elsie Smola of Dwight and Mary Ann Romshek of Bellwood; two brothers, George Andel and Robert Andel, both of David City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Helen Bos

CLARKSON -- Helen Bos, 89, of Clarkson died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler.

Services are pending with Miller Funeral Home in Clarkson.

Verlene Dohmen

Verlene Dohmen, 65, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at her sister's home in Fremont, Nebraska.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church on Monday, June 17, 2002 at 10:30 AM with Father Tom Weisbecker officiating. Interment will be at the All Saints Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2002 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM vigil service, and continue on Monday from 9:00 AM - 10:15 AM all at Gass Haney Funeral Home.

Verlene M. Dohmen was born icon July 14, 1936 at Lindsay, Nebraska to Tony and Anna (Hegemann) Dohmen. She graduated from Lindsay Holy Family High School in 1954. She began her employment in 1955 at Becher Hockenberger and Chambers Co. as a secretary and loan processor, later she was promoted to loan officer. In 1965 she joined Columbus Federal Savings Bank as secretary to the Board of Directors. In 1986 she was promoted to Senior Vice President and in 1991 she became a director and stockholder of the bank. While at the bank her various responsibilities were loan serving, loan underwriting, loan officer, secondary loan supervision and as a member of the Executive Committee. She retired in December of 1999. Verlene was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, where she had served on the finance committee and parish council. She was a member of the Columbus Area Arts Council, Friends of Music, Chamber of Commerce Women's Division and she was a past board member of Crime Stoppers. She volunteered at Simon House and with the Scotus Education Foundation drives. She was a member of Columbus Women's Bridge Marathon and CDA Bridge.

Lloyd Jenkinson Sr.

COLUMBUS - Lloyd Thomas Jenkinson Sr., 87, of Monroe died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Columbus Community Hospital Inc.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Monroe United Methodist Church in Monroe with the Rev. Bev Minor officiating. Burial will be at Friend Cemetery in rural Genoa.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church, with family prayer service at 9:45 a.m. Friday at the church.

Mr. Jenkinson was born icon April 12, 1913, in rural Monroe to Edward D. and Belle C. (Harris) Jenkinson, attended school in Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School in 1932. He then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

He married Elfrieda Ida Jaeggi on Feb. 26, 1950, in Columbus. He was a third-generation Platte County farmer, on the same farm his grandfather homesteaded nearly 150 years ago. He specialized in the production and exhibition of purebred Hampshire swine. He was a school bus driver for Monroe for many years. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed going to his son's softball games.

He was a member of the church, where he served on the church council. He also served on the Monroe School Board of Education.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Marilyn Archer of Wheeling, W.V. and Carolyn of Columbus; son, Lloyd Jr. (fiancee Amy Deavers) of Monroe; one sister, Alta (Dick) Walters of Columbus; and two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Edward and an infant stillborn brother.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Judith Warner

ST. EDWARD -- Judith W. Warner, 71, of St. Edward, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2008, after a short battle with cancer at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church, St. Edward, with the Rev. K.F. Kaleuati officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.

Judith Wylene (Carter) Warner, the daughter of Kenneth W. and Bertha (Kramer) Carter was born icon on February 23, 1937, at St. Edward. She attended school and graduated from St. Edward Public School in 1954. Judy went on to become a Registered Nurse from the Immanuel Lutheran School of Nursing in 1957.

On November 3, 1957 Judy was united in marriage to Ralph W. Warner at the Presbyterian Church in St. Edward. They lived and farmed in the rural St. Edward and Albion area. Judy was a mother and homemaker, she also helped out with the family business, J.W. Grain Company in St. Edward. Judy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and attending all of their events. She also enjoyed reading and writing, listening to music and playing the piano. She was also a Lueken racing fan and enjoyed watching the stock car races in Albion.

Judy was a member of the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in St. Edward along with a member of the ladies group and the choir there.

She is survived by her children: Becky Warner of Colorado Springs, Colo., David Warner and wife Kami of Albion; five grandchildren: Matt and Terri Aubin, Brooke Warner and fiancee' Ben Stuhr, Tanner and Morgan Warner; brother Jerry Carter and wife Lila of St. Edward; sister Janine Schafer and husband Von of Humphrey; sisters-in-law: Bonnie Westring of St. Edward; Doris Warner of Albion, and Bernita Warner of Fullerton; Brothers-in-law: Howard Warner and wife Roberta of York; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1990; brother Joseph W. (Billy) Carter; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Paul, Fred, Gary, Earl, and Jesse Warner, Mamie and Lucille Carlson.

John Rohde

COLUMBUS -- John W. Rohde, 77, of Columbus, died Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Ord.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tim White officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home, 2109 14th St., and on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Interment will be in the Columbus Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard.

John W. Rohde was born icon January 30, 1931, in Columbus, to Dr. Frank G. and Verona (Wischover) Harrer Rohde. John attended Columbus Public School and graduated from Kramer High School in 1949. John entered the U.S. Air Force on January 3, 1951. He made the Air Force his career and was stationed in Texas, California, Kansas, South Carolina, New Hampshire, England, Okinawa, Korea, Libya, Thailand, Norway, and Turkey. He was honorably discharged and retired from the Air Force on August 31, 1976. In December of 1952, John married Fern Stevenson in Columbus. He attended the University of Nebraska, Platte College, and graduated from Wayne State College in 1987. John was a salesman for Person Sport Shop and Business Manager at Trinity Lutheran Church. He served on the church council and the Endowment Trust Board.

John is survived by his wife, Fern Rohde; sons: Mark (Zena) Rohde, Steven Rohde; daughter: Anne (Lonny) Clausen; grandchildren: B. J. (Nancy) Rohde, Jennifer, Naomi, and Nolan Clausen; great-grandchildren, Zach and Addyson Rohde; and brother, Frank (Cookie) Rohde.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Frank and Verona Rohde and infant sister, Margaret Ann Rohde.

Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.

Roger Reinke

COLUMBUS -- Roger Reinke, 62, of Columbus, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at his home in Columbus.

The funeral service will be Saturday, May 10, 10 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, rural Columbus. Visitation will be on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home, 2109 14th St., and on Saturday from 9-10 a.m. at the church with a family prayer service at 9:45 a.m.

Roger Reinke was born icon September 30, 1945, in Columbus, to Martin and Edna (Dicke) Reinke. Roger attended rural District 2 school and graduated from Columbus High School in 1963. On August 29, 1970, Roger married Marlene Smith at St. John's Lutheran Church, Shell Creek. Roger was a farmer and also worked at Behlen Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, and drove a grain truck for Martensen Trucking. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Fire Department for over 30 years.

Roger is survived by his wife, Marlene Reinke of Columbus; daughter, Kristina (Shawn) Linden of Cairo; son, Dana Reinke of Columbus; daughter, Melissa (Derek) Salak of Columbus; three grandchildren, Colby, Logan, and Christopher; sister: Roseann (Jim) Ninas of Atkinson; brother, Roy (Maxine) Reinke of Columbus; and mother-in-law, Irene Smith of Columbus.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Edna Reinke; son, Christopher Reinke; sister, Renee Van Diest ; and father-in-law, Lloyd Dean Smith.

Verna Loseke

COLUMBUS -- Verna Loseke, 83, of Columbus, died Tuesday May 6, 2008, at Columbus Community Hospital.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 9, 2008, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1470 24th Avenue, Columbus with the Rev. Kurt Ebert and the Rev. Art Brinkmeyer officiating.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m., Thursday, May 8, at McKown Funeral Home Chapel, 2922 13th Street, and continues Friday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

There will be a Family Prayer Service at 10:15 a.m., Friday, also at the church.

Interment will be in the Roselawn Cemetery.

There will be a lunch served at the Immanuel Lutheran Fellowship Hall

Verna was born icon January 18, 1925, in Elgin to Louis and Emma (Suhr) Mueller. She moved into Platte County as a child and graduated from Monroe High School in 1942. She married Siegfried Loseke and to this union three children were born. The couple farmed until 1962 when they moved into Monroe for five years before moving to Columbus. Verna worked at Becton Dickinson for several years. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church since 1962 and loved sewing, cooking, bowling, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Carroll Loseke of Columbus; daughter Dorene (Vernon) Wood of Bassett; brother, Irvin Mueller of Columbus; two grandchildren, Natalie Ady of North Platte and Chuck Wood of Osage, Wyo.; three great-grandchildren, Rebecca Ady of North Platte, Dani and Oscar Wood of Osage, Wyo.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Siegfried Loseke; infant daughter, Helen Loseke; brother Ernest Mueller; and sister Lilly Bitter.

Robert Lawson

COLUMBUS -- Robert L. Lawson, 63, of Columbus, NE died on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln, NE.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 9, at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion with the Rev. Larry Sydow officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.

Brian Boye Sr.

STROMSBURG -- Brian “Radar” Lee Boye, Sr., 59, of Stromsburg, passed away Friday, May 2, 2008 at his home.

Memorial services will be held Friday, May 9, at 10 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Dick Woolard officiating. Inurnment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Military Rites by the Stromsburg Legion Post #132.

Brian was born icon June 23, 1948, to Fred Rudolph and Bernadine Marie (Mattson) Boye, Sr. in Milbank, S.D. He attended elementary school in Willmar, Minn. and attended high school in Stromsburg, graduating in 1966.

Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a medical corpsman from 1966 to 1972. He then continued his service with the National Guard.

During his enlistment in the service Brian received several military medals including the National Defense Medal, Marksman Rifle, Vietnam Campaign, Vietnam Service and two Overseas Service Bars.

Brian was united in marriage, and to this union two children were born. They lived in the Gresham area where Brian assisted people with their taxes.

Brian moved to Stromsburg where he was employed with the City of Stromsburg.

He was a member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed guns, playing cards with the guys at the Legion and his country.

Survivors include his children Brian Lee (Jodie) Boye Jr., of Lee Summit, Mo. and DVM Corry (Justin) Key of Vanburen, Ark.; three grandchildren Riley Boye, Jackson Boye and Noah Key; four brothers, Larry (Glenda) Boye of Stevensville, Mont., Lance (Deb) Boye of Lincoln, Brett (Patti) Boye of Duncan, Fred Boye Jr. of Ashland; three sisters Toni Shipley of Hamilton, Mont., Lynette (Tom) McKinnon of Chuquak, Ark., and Kim Schaefer of Columbus; one half brother Robert (Shirley) Boye of Overland Park, Ill.; twenty-eight nieces and nephews, sixteen great nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Bernadine Boye, Sr.; five half brothers, and one half sister.

Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola is in charge of arrangements.

Harold Beierman

ALBION -- Harold W. “Butch” Beierman, 85 of Albion died Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Home in Albion.

Services are pending with Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
