Robert Lawson

COLUMBUS -- Robert L. Lawson, 63, of Columbus, NE died on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln, NE.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 9, at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion with the Rev. Larry Sydow officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.

Brian Boye Sr.

STROMSBURG -- Brian “Radar” Lee Boye, Sr., 59, of Stromsburg, passed away Friday, May 2, 2008 at his home.

Memorial services will be held Friday, May 9, at 10 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Dick Woolard officiating. Inurnment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Military Rites by the Stromsburg Legion Post #132.

Brian was born icon June 23, 1948, to Fred Rudolph and Bernadine Marie (Mattson) Boye, Sr. in Milbank, S.D. He attended elementary school in Willmar, Minn. and attended high school in Stromsburg, graduating in 1966.

Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a medical corpsman from 1966 to 1972. He then continued his service with the National Guard.

During his enlistment in the service Brian received several military medals including the National Defense Medal, Marksman Rifle, Vietnam Campaign, Vietnam Service and two Overseas Service Bars.

Brian was united in marriage, and to this union two children were born. They lived in the Gresham area where Brian assisted people with their taxes.

Brian moved to Stromsburg where he was employed with the City of Stromsburg.

He was a member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed guns, playing cards with the guys at the Legion and his country.

Survivors include his children Brian Lee (Jodie) Boye Jr., of Lee Summit, Mo. and DVM Corry (Justin) Key of Vanburen, Ark.; three grandchildren Riley Boye, Jackson Boye and Noah Key; four brothers, Larry (Glenda) Boye of Stevensville, Mont., Lance (Deb) Boye of Lincoln, Brett (Patti) Boye of Duncan, Fred Boye Jr. of Ashland; three sisters Toni Shipley of Hamilton, Mont., Lynette (Tom) McKinnon of Chuquak, Ark., and Kim Schaefer of Columbus; one half brother Robert (Shirley) Boye of Overland Park, Ill.; twenty-eight nieces and nephews, sixteen great nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Bernadine Boye, Sr.; five half brothers, and one half sister.

Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola is in charge of arrangements.

Harold Beierman

ALBION -- Harold W. “Butch” Beierman, 85 of Albion died Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Home in Albion.

Services are pending with Levander Funeral Home in Albion.

Ilene Anderson

COLUMBUS -- Ilene Marie Anderson, 80, of Columbus, died Friday, May 16, 2008, at her home.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Walker officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and noon-2 p.m. Tuesday, all at the church.

Ilene Marie Anderson was born icon Dec. 4, 1927, in Paddock to Frank A. and Frances (Johnson) Searles. She attended District #1 School and graduated in 1946. She taught at a country school by Center Union near O’Neill for one year. Then she was united in marriage to Percy Merrill Anderson on Aug. 26, 1948, in O’Neill by the Rev. Melvin Grosenbach. They moved to Columbus in 1953.

Ilene was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting. She was a beloved wife and mother who lived to please the Lord in all things.

She is survived by: husband, Percy M. Anderson of Columbus; daughter, Sue Keyes of Columbus; daughter, Lynita (Merlin) Gehring of Columbus; daughter, Rachel (Kelvin) Walker of Columbus; son, Randy (Lorelie) Anderson of Columbus; son, Stephen (Janell) Anderson of Columbus; son, Jerry (Karen) Anderson of Columbus; son, Greg (Beth) Anderson of Columbus; son, Ricky (MaryAnn) Anderson of Columbus; son, Eric Anderson of Schuyler; brother, Austin (Gladys) Searles of Doniphan; brother, Zane (Beverly) Searles of Grands Pass, Ore.; sister, JoAnn (Larry) Wyatt of Richland, Wash.; 45 grandchildren; and 55 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by: father, Frank A. Searles; mother, Frances Searles; and sister, Grace Irene (Searles) Brock.

Ricardo Osantowski

GENOA -- Ricardo “Ricky” Osantowski, 14, of Genoa, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Genoa Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa with the Rev. Juliet Rasi officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Augustana Lutheran Church.

Ricky was born icon Oct. 20, 1993, in Central City to William and Tina (Nitzel) Osantowski. He was a freshman at Twin River School in Genoa. He lived in Fullerton until the past three years.

He is survived by his mother, Tina Osantowski of Genoa; brother, Joe Osantowski of Rapid City, S.D. and Dalton Osantowski of Genoa; sisters, Angela Osantowski of Columbus, Rose Osantowski of Genoa and Kasey Osantowski of Genoa.

Ricky was preceded in death by a very special friend, Tracy Holmstedt and his great grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.

Patrick Funeral Chapel in Genoa is in charge of arrangements.

John C. Wiehn

COLUMBUS -- John C. Wiehn, 49, of Columbus, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, as result of an automobile accident north of Columbus.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church with a 7 p.m. prayer service, also at the church. Visitation continues Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard.

COLUMBUS -- Bradley A. Hanlin, 33, of Columbus, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, in an automobile accident north of Columbus.

Mildred Ingold

Mildred Ingold, 87, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, August 5, 2002 at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.

Services will be held at St. Luke's United Church of Christ Columbus, Nebraska on Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Nancy Peebles officiating. Private family interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 6, 2002 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at St. Luke's United Church of Christ on Wednesday from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday at 10:45 AM at the church.

Mildred (Hoppe) Ingold was born icon October 1, 1914 in Columbus, Nebraska to Henry and Clara (Heibel) Hoppe. She graduated from Schuyler High School and attended Midland College. She married John Ingold on November 9, 1940 in Columbus. Mildred taught school in Colfax and Platte counties. She was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ and the women's fellowship. She served as a girl scout leader and on the council, she served on the Senior Advisory Board. Mildred was a past member of the Columbus Housing Authority Board. She was active in church functions, enjoyed playing bridge, extension club, gardening and cooking, especially rolls and pies.

Elaine J. Jauck

Elaine J. Jauck, 73, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Mory's Haven Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2002 at 10:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. There will be a family prayer service Saturday at 9:45 AM at the church.

Elaine Gundermann Jauck was born icon on November 14, 1928 in Mora, Minnesota. The youngest daughter of a Lutheran pastor, Rev. Carl and Olga Gundermann, she was raised in Battle Creek, Nebraska with her older brother and sister, Milton and Adelma. Later, she would tell her city-born children fascinating stories about growing up in the country during the drought and depression years - especially swimming in the cow tank and cleaning the cream separator!
The family moved to another congregation in Waldorf, Minnesota when Elaine was in high school. After graduation, she attended college and taught school briefly. She married Melvin Jauck in 1953 and they were married for 34 years until he died in 1987. They lived in Chicago and raised two daughters, Andrea and Amy.
Elaine embraced big city life with gusto. She had an amazing gift to relate to all kinds of people with compassion and enthusiasm. She worked at Illinois Masonic Hospital for more than 20 years where she made many friends and touched countless lives.
Her retirement years were spent in Columbus, Nebraska where she joined Immanuel Lutheran Church and became involved with many local organizations and projects. Elaine led an active and healthy life until cancer was discovered in 2001. She rode her bike, walked her dogs, spent many hours in her garden and loved sitting by the river. With her long hair, big smile and unique personality, she made an impression on everyone she met. Elaine was an avid reader and loved following current events and politics. Friends and family looked forward to her descriptive cards and letters. One of her favorite pastimes was making copies of music tapes to share.
After battling her disease with remarkable courage and dignity, Elaine passed away on July 30, 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and husband.

Niece - Jodi (Adam) Heidenreich - Chicago, IL
Six great-nieces and nephews: Molly and Abe Curran, Brian Hartman, Isaiah and Noah Graham, and Emma Heidenreich.

Elaine will be dearly missed by many close and beloved friends in Nebraska and Chicago.

Jack "Jess" P. Ingold

Jack "Jess" P. Ingold, 68, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, August 5, 2002 at his home.

Services will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Friday, August 9, 2002 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Casey Ingold officiating. Interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post 84. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Thursday, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM.

Jack P. Ingold was born icon September 14, 1933 in Columbus, Nebraska to Fred A. and Martha B. (Klug) Ingold Sr. He graduated from Kramer High School in 1952. He served in the US Navy from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean conflict. He then attended college in Lincoln. Jack was a construction worker in the Columbus area. He was a member of the DAV, VFW and Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, gardening and Nebraska football.

Shirley A. Johannes

Shirley Annetta Johannes, 79, of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, December 20, 2001 at her home.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2001 at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Bringewatt and Rev. Roland A. Jank officiating. Interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2001 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 PM Wednesday at the church.

Shirley A. Johannes was born icon March 7, 1922 in Schuyler, Nebraska to Sherman and Katherine (Swickard) Stuefer. She attended grade school at District 43 northeast of Schuyler and then Trinity Lutheran School. She graduated from Schuyler High School in 1939. After graduation she took post graduate classes and worked for the principal at Schuyler High School and also worked on an area farm as a housekeeper, caretaker and nanny. Shirley married Ernest Johannes on December 28, 1941 at Christ Lutheran Church. They farmed northeast of Columbus until they moved to Columbus in 1976.
Shirley was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she had been a member of the Altar Guild for 30 years and the Evening Guild. She was a past officer of AAL, a former 4-H leader, and worked as a precinct inspector with the election board for many years. Shirley was a member of the Golden Keys Extension Club for 50 years. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling, gardening, cooking, baking, sewing and being with friends and family.
