Pearl M. Janssen

Pearl M. Janssen, 87, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, February 5, 2001 at Columbus Community Hospital.

Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Platte Center, Nebraska on Friday, February 9, 2001 at 10:30 AM with Rev. John Hellwege officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Thursday, February 8, 2001 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Grace Lutheran Church on Friday, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. A family prayer service will be held Friday at 10:15 AM at the church.

Pearl M. Janssen was born icon October 7, 1913 on the family farm in rural Platte Center, Nebraska to Otto and Emma (Hoefelman) Loseke. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Platte Center. Pearl married Art Janssen on October 15, 1940 at Zion Lutheran Church. She lived all of her life on the family farm before moving to Columbus, Nebraska in 1973. Pearl worked as a cook at Behlen Manufacturing for 8 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1953 and a lifetime member of the Grace Lutheran Church Ladies Aide.

Arthur T. Janssen

Arthur Janssen, 83 of Columbus, Nebraska died Friday, May 11, 2001 at his home. Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Platte Center, Nebraska on Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at 10:30 AM with Rev. John Hellwege officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Monday, May 14, 2001 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Grace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, May 15, 2001 from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM.

Arthur T. Janssen was born icon January 25, 1918 in rural Columbus, Nebraska to Thees and Emily (Schulte) Janssen. He was baptized on March 3, 1918 and confirmed on May 15, 1932 both at Christ Lutheran Church rural Columbus, Nebraska. Arthur married Pearl Loseke on October 15, 1940 at Zion Lutheran Church rural Platte Center, Nebraska.

He farmed on the Thees Janssen homestead until he married Pearl, then farmed on the Loseke homestead until 1973 when he moved into Columbus. Arthur was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a past president of the church council and was an elder, he served on the boards of the Platte Center Farmers Coop and the Columbus Community Hospital. He received the Outstanding Senior Farmer Award. Arthur also loved bowling.

Maudline (Billie) C. Janousek

Maudline C. Janousek, 84, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, November 02, 2001 at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus. A memorial graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, November 06, 2001 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Gary Main officiating. There will be no visitation.

Maudline (Billie), was born icon May 18, 1917 in Berlin, Alabama to William and Joshephine (Todd) Freeman. Shortly after birth the family moved to Cullman, Alabama where she attended school. She married James Janousek in 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana. After their marriage, they lived in the Schuyler, Nebraska area before moving to Columbus, Nebraska in 1990. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing Bingo, going to thrift stores and spending time with her grandchildren.

Larry Jones

Larry Jones, 60, of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday, August 30, 2000 at the Norfolk Regional Center in Norfolk, Nebraska. Services will be held on Friday, September 1, 2000, at 1:30 P.M. with the Rev. Gary Main officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2000, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and from 12:30 P.M. until service time Friday all at Gass Haney Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born icon January 4, 1940 in Columbus to Newton and Ann (Miller) Jones. He graduated from Columbus High School and spent most of his life in Columbus.

Elizabeth Evans

Elizabeth M. Evans, 101, of Seguin, Texas, formerly of Columbus, Nebraska, died October 31, 2002 in Texas. Memorial services were held in San Antonio, Texas on November 9, 2002. A graveside memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at 1:00 PM at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus, Nebraska with Patrick Kelly officiating.

Elizabeth was born icon March 24, 1901 in Platte County, Nebraska to Charles and Bertha (Bruckner) Gossman. She lived most of her life in this area. She married Walter B. Evans and together they farmed for a while and then moved into Columbus where Walter was a barber for many years. After Walter's death, Elizabeth moved to Seguin, Texas to be near her sisters and brothers.
Elizabeth was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 23, 1969, and she was associated with the local congregation here in Columbus and later with the Seguin, Texas congregation.

Lorraine M. Olson

Lorraine M. Olson, 76, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, October 28, 2002 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral service will be on Friday, November 1, 2002, 10:30 A.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 31 from 3:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Lorraine M. Olson was born icon November 12, 1925 in Columbus, Nebraska to Herman and Emma (Hackbart) Hoth. Lorraine attended school in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School. Lorraine married Glenn R. Olson on June 10, 1945 in Bellville, Kansas. She worked at Becton Dickinson as an inspector. Lorraine was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the D.A.V. , and the Becton Dickinson Alumni Group.

Mildred L. Guenther, 84, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, October 28, 2002 at the Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus. The funeral service will be Friday, November 1, 2002, 1:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Roland A. Jank officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 31, 2002 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. all at Gass Haney Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the United Way or Immanuel Lutheran School.

Mildred L. Guenther was born icon December 8, 1917 in Columbus, Nebraska to Ed & Anna (Mueller) Ahrens. Mildred graduated from Columbus High School in 1936. She worked in Columbus and on June 21, 1942 she married Edward Guenther. Mildred worked at Dale Electronics for 20 years. She was a member of the 36 Club and enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
