Vera V. Jenny, 99, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at Countryside Home in Madison, Nebraska.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2002 at 10:30 AM at Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Private family interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday at 10:15 AM at the funeral home. There will be no visitation.
Vera Viola Jenny was born
January 28, 1903 in Cass County, Nebraska to Marvin and Diana (Crawford) Bushnell. She attended District #58 in Cass County and graduated from Ashland High School. Vera moved to Platte County and taught school at District #48. She married J. Ben Jenny on April 22, 1922 at the Jenny farm. They farmed south of Leigh, Nebraska and in Colfax County, Nebraska. They moved to Columbus in 1956. Vera was employed at Jackson Laundry for 15 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Services will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home, Columbus, Nebraska on Thursday, November 08, 2001 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Will Sanborn officiating. Interment will be at Layfette, IA. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM with the family present from 1:00 - 3:00 PM and from 6:30 - 8:00 PM and on Thursday, November 08, 2001 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM.
Carl W. Wilson was born
March 20, 1967 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Kenneth and Dorothy (Tonsager) Wilson. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1985. He worked at Camaco in Columbus. Carl enjoyed and participated in stock car racing. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Carl was active in CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association) and Abate (American Bikers Aiming Towards Education).

Arthur F. Siefken, 88, of Columbus, Nebraska died Sunday, November 18, 2001, at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus, NE on Saturday, November 24, 2001 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Roland A. Jank officiating. Interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Friday, November 23, 2001 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 24, 2001 from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM. A family prayer service will be held at 9:45 AM Saturday at the church.
Arthur F. Siefken was born
April 5, 1913 in rural Platte County, Nebraska to George and Caroline (Inselman) Siefken. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School. Arthur married Clara Johannes on October 8, 1941 at Christ Lutheran Church and they had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He farmed north of Columbus and retired in 1980. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Arthur's interests were draft horses, photography and card playing.

Verna Seefeld, 92, of Elkhorn, Nebraska, formerly of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, May 14, 2001 at Midlands Community Hospital in Papillion, Nebraska.
Services will be held at Monroe United Methodist Church, Monroe, Nebraska, on Thursday, May 17, 2001 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Bev Minor officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 16, 2001 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at the church on Thursday, May 17, 2001 from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. There will be a family prayer service on Thursday at 10:15 AM at the church.
Verna was born
April 4, 1909 in rural Platte County, Nebraska to Edward and Leala (Clayborn) Hill. She graduated from Monroe High School in Monroe, Nebraska. After graduation, she went to work at the Schreiber Grocery Store in Monroe. On February 26, 1930, she married Ferd Seefeld in Cozad, Nebraska. They farmed north of Monroe.
She was a charter member of the United Methodist Church in Monroe, where she was still a member. She is the last of the charter members of this church. Verna had been the church organist for more than 50 years and had taught private music instructions. She enjoyed playing cards. When her health started to fail, she moved to Columbus and most recently moved to Elkhorn to live with her daughter.

October 5, 1962 in Blair, Nebraska to Nevin and Ruth (Gottsch) Zaruba. His family moved back to Columbus in 1964. He attended Columbus Public Schools. He worked at Vishay Dale.

Raymond A. Wilson, 93 of Bellwood, Nebraska died Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Beverly Healthcare Center in Columbus, Nebraska.
Services are Thursday, March 8, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. at Bellwood United Methodist Church, Bellwood, Nebraska with Rev. Marie S. Paterik officiating. Interment will be in the Bellwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2001 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Thursday, March 8, 2001 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the church.
Raymond A. Wilson was born
January 10, 1908 in Blue Springs, NE to Robert C. and Pearl (Hager) Wilson. He attended school in Blue Springs, Nebraska and at the age of 15 moved to Bellwood, Nebraska. Ray grew up in Bellwood and went to work for Burlington Railroad at the age of 18 as a welder. He worked for the railroad until his retirement in 1972. Ray married Frieda Brase in 1939. They traveled extensively with the railroad throughout his career and then moved back to Bellwood upon his retirement. Back in Bellwood, they enjoyed fishing and traveling and were both active in the Bellwood United Methodist Church.

Leonard F. Speicher
Leonard F. Speicher, 86, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at the Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Columbus, on Saturday, March 31, 2001 at 10:00 AM with Father Tom Weisbecker officiating. Interment will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Columbus with military honors by American Legion Honor Guard, Hartman Post 84.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 30, 2001 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a 7:00 Vigil Service, and Saturday, March 31, 2001 from 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM all at the funeral home.
Leonard was born
May 20, 1914 in Columbus to Nicholas and Evelyn (Polak) Speicher. He attended St. Francis Academy and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School. After graduation, he worked in a bakery before joining the US Army on April 2, 1942. Leonard served in the following battles and campaigns: Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe where he was in demolitions. He was decorated with the Purple Heart for and injury received on July 4, 1944 in France, the Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Service Arrowhead and the EAME Ribbon. He was discharged on October 23, 1945. He returned to Columbus and went to work for the Columbus Brewery. After leaving the brewery, Leonard went to work at Behlen Manufacturing as a sheet metal worker.
He married Teresa Santner on December 14, 1968. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, the VFW, and the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Memorials may be directed to: American Legion Higgins Project or the Columbus Hospital Skilled Care Unit.
