Heidi Ganskow, 32, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Thursday, May 09, 2002 at her home. Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Columbus, on Saturday, May 11, 2002 at 10:30 AM with Rev. John E. Nelson, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at the Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Friday, May 10, 2002 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM and at Christ Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 11, 2002 from 9:30 AM until service time. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM on Saturday at the church.

Heidi Ganskow was born icon in Columbus, Nebraska to James & Diana (Blaser) Mueller. She was baptized, confirmed and attended grade school at Christ Lutheran Church in Columbus. She graduated from Lakeview High School in Columbus and received her associates degree from Central Community College in Columbus. Heidi married Mike Ganskow on September 21, 1991 at Christ Lutheran Church. Heidi worked for the Columbus Telegram in the accounting department for over 10 years.
Heidi was a member of 4-H and Christ Lutheran Youth Group as a youth. She enjoyed watching her brothers play ball.
She loved crafts and especially cross stitch and plastic canvas work.

James A. Gilbert

James A. Gilbert, 55, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, May 11, 2002 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday at 10:15 AM at the church.

James A. Gilbert was born icon August 27, 1946 in Lincoln, Nebraska to James A. and Carolyn (Stratman) Gilbert. He was raised in McCook, Nebraska and entered the Navy on November 22, 1963. He served on the USS Sacramento and was discharged on August 25, 1967. After his discharge, he attended the Milford Trade School and received his Associates Degree in Electronics. He then went to work at Vishay/Dales in Columbus, where he worked for 30 years.
On February 2, 1973, he married Diane Marie Mohlman at St. John's Lutheran Church, 14 miles north of Columbus. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, the VFW, American Legion, and was past post commander of the American Legion. James was very active in AYSO and Club Soccer in Columbus. James volunteered his time for 11 years at the Cornhusker State Games as the Soccer Coordinator. He loved to hunt, fish and process deer.

James is survived by:

Ralph P. "Ducky" Drake

Ralph P. Drake, 78, of Columbus, Nebraska died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at the Beverly Healthcare Center in Columbus.

A memorial service will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Friday, May 10, 2002 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Paul Rowoldt officiating. Interment will be at the All Saints Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Friday, May 10, 2002 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM.

Ralph P. "Ducky" Drake was born icon October 29, 1923 in Columbus, Nebraska to Ralph and Florence (Hagel) Drake. He graduated from Kramer High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy from February 19, 1943 to November 7, 1945. Ralph married Lucille Tribulato on April 7, 1971 in Omaha, Nebraska. He worked for Loup Power District as a lineman, retiring in 1986. He lived in Columbus all of his life. Ralph was an avid duck hunter, an excellent ice skater and loved going to Duncan Lakes to his cabin that he built in 1955. He was a member of the Senior Bowling League, American Legion Hartman Post 84, VFW, Eagles and a former member of the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department.

Elizabeth May Goedeken

Elizabeth M. Goedeken of Columbus, Nebraska died of cancer on Saturday, November 30, 2002 at her home.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, December 3, 2002, 10:30 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus, with Rev. John E. Nelson Jr. officiating. Interment will be at the Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M.

Elizabeth M. Goedeken was born icon April 1, 1923 in Columbus, NE to Frank and Emily (Campbell) Klaus. Elizabeth attended school in Polk County District #17. She graduated from Kramer High School in 1940 and then attended Wesleyan University. On February 7, 1942 she married Melvin Goedeken in Columbus. She lived her entire life in Columbus. Elizabeth worked at the United States Post Office for 19 years and retired in 1985. She was a substitute P.E. teacher and also helped coach sports at Immanuel and Christ Lutheran Schools and also at the YMCA. She was a member of the Ladies Aid where she held various offices, and was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Patricia W. Gilstrap

Patricia W. Gilstrap, 73, of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, November 7, 2002 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2002, 10:30 A.M. at the Grace Episcopal Church in Columbus with Rev. Nancy Idenden officiating.

Patricia W. Wynne was born icon July 13, 1929 in Boston Massachusetts to Carson and Faith (Shaw) WIlkey. Patricia graduated from high school in Boston and attended Radcliff College. She entered the U. S. Navy on October 23, 1950 and was honorably discharged on July 17, 1951. Patricia married Gerald W. Gilstrap and they lived for many years in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She moved to Rising City in 1990 and then to Florida in 1994 before moving to Columbus in 2001. Patricia was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, many genealogy societies, and had won numerous awards for her photography work.

Von H. Gertsch, 72, of Monroe, Nebraska died Friday, August 1, 2003 at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, Columbus, Nebraska on Monday, August 4, 2003 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Michael Klatt officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus with military honors by American Legion Post 263 Silver Creek, Nebraska. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Sunday, from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Peace Lutheran Church on Monday, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. There will be a family prayer service Monday at 10:15 AM at the church.

Von Henry Gertsch was born icon April 22, 1931 in Monroe, Nebraska to Paul and Claire (Dress) Gertsch. He attended Monroe Public Schools and graduated from Monroe High School in 1948. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, from January 8, 1951 to May 3, 1954. Von married Elaine Arndt on July 10, 1954. He was a farmer, owner of the Cottonwood Mills with his family from 1984 to 1991 and the Evergreen Tree Farm since 1984. In 2001 he began working for Natural Resource Conservation Service as a technician. Von was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, the Monroe Fire Department for many years, American Legion Post 263 in Silver Creek, and served on the Oconee Township Board. He loved to hunt and fish.

John E. L. Dicke, 90, of Creston, Nebraska died Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Morys Haven in Columbus, Nebraska. Services are 10:30 AM Saturday, March 22, 2003 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Leigh, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Marsha Jark-Swain officiating. Interment is at St. Paul's Cemetery. Visitations will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 21, 2003 at the Gass Haney Funeral Home, and from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Saturday, March 22 at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM on Saturday at the church.

John E. L. Dicke was born icon January 4, 1913 in rural Columbus, Nebraska to Louis D. and Helena (Oltmann) Dicke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church Shell Creek. He attended District 2 School in Platte County. John married Eileen Hillen on October 10, 1940 at Hooper, Nebraska. He was a farmer all of his life. John was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he was a former member of the church council. He was a former District #46 school board member. John enjoyed farming, including first with horses, before a long line of John Deere tractors; also poultry, sheep raising, and firewood cutting.

John is survived by:
