Harold Folken

Harold Folken, 90, of Elkhorn, Nebraska (formerly of Columbus) died Saturday, December 6, 2003 at the Life Care Center in Elkhorn, Nebraska.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Columbus Cemetery with Rev Timothy White officiating.

Harold L. Folken was born icon March 19, 1913 in Leigh, Nebraska to Walter & Clara (Schindler) Folken. Harold attended school in rural Colfax County. He farmed for many years in the Leigh area. On June 8, 1937 he married Marjorie A. Fajman in Leigh. Harold started the Harold Folken Contracting Co. in 1956 and worked there until his retirement in 1983. Harold was an usher at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus for many years and also enjoyed playing cards.

Norma J. Hahn

Norma J. Hahn, 63, of Bellwood, Nebraska died Friday, May 30, 2003 as a result of an auto accident near Bellwood.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 03, 2003 at 10:30 AM at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Columbus, Nebraska with Father Tom Weisbecker officiating. Interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM vigil service at the Gass Haney Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, from 9:30 AM - 10:15 AM.

Norma J. Hahn was born icon April 20, 1940 in Columbus, Nebraska to Thomas A. and Clara (Loeffler) Kretz Sr. She graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1958. She married Raymond Hahn on March 3, 1976 in Columbus. Norma worked at Becton-Dickinson Company for almost 40 years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Harold L. Larsen

Harold L. Larsen, 83 of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, November 29, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Thursday, from 9:30 A.M. until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service Thursday at 10:15 A.M. at the church.

Harold L. Larsen was born icon August 30, 1920 in Albion, Nebraska to Louis and Geannie (Moore) Larsen. He attended school in Madison, Nebraska. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930's. He then moved to Idaho and worked as a farm hand for a number of years. Harold married Alwine Korte on November 12, 1939 in Columbus, Nebraska. On May 11, 1944 Harold was drafted into the Marine Corps serving during WWII. He was wounded in Action on May 10, 1945 at Okinawa. On January 26, 1946 he was honorably discharged.
After his discharge, Harold joined the family back in Columbus where he went to work for Alexand's Furniture & Carpet Store. During the early 1960's, Harold went to work on his own as a carpet and tile installer.
Harold enjoyed spending time visiting friends and drinking coffee at numerous locations in Columbus. He was an avid sports fan, loved to travel, and enjoyed spending time with his family. The grandchildren remember Harold as the "Tickle Monster". Harold was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus.

Mildred Drew

Mildred Drew, 90, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, October 4, 2003 at the Osceola Good Samaritan Center in Osceola, Nebraska.

Services are Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church in Columbus with Rev. Dr. Larry Adams officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the church. There will be a family prayer service Wednesday at 10:15 AM at the church.

Mildred P. Drew was born icon August 4, 1913 in South Omaha, Nebraska to Arthur and Sarah (Neimann) Huston. The family moved to Tilden, Nebraska where she graduated from Tilden High School in 1931. She then studied piano at the Indiana Conservatory of Music.
Mildred married Wesley W. Drew on January 1, 1933. They lived in Omaha, McCook, and Hastings, Nebraska before settling in Columbus in 1942. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she held various positions and delivered meals on wheels. She also assisted with the family businesses, Drew's Goodyear Tire Service and Ace Sand & Gravel Company. She loved music, traveling, playing bridge, and Nebraska football.

Wayne J. Lange

Wayne J. Lange, 70, of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, September 11, 2003 at the Midlands Community Hospital in Papillion, Nebraska.

Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday, September 15, 2003 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Timothy White officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post 84. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Sunday, from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM with a family prayer service at 10:15 AM.

Wayne J. Lange was born icon January 7, 1933 at Imperial, Nebraska to Jens and Lillian (Beran) Lange. He graduated from Kramer High School in 1950. He enlisted in the US Coast Guard on May 14, 1951. Wayne married Barbara Fuehring on November 14, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus. While serving in the Coast Guard, he achieved the rank of Lieutenant and was discharged on July 31, 1972. He moved to Columbus in 1972 and worked at Dale Electronics as a production manager until his retirement in August of 1995.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was active with various church activities. Wayne was a member of the VFW, Eagles and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all types of sports, especially bowling.

Milton T. Moje

Milton T. Moje, 60, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, February 2, 2001 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus on Monday, February 05, 2001 at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Timothy White officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus with military honors by American Legion Honor Guard, Hartman Post 84.
Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Sunday, from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church Columbus, NE on Monday, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM on Monday at the church.

Milton T. Moje was born icon June 1, 1940 in Columbus to Peter and Minnie (Loseke) Moje. He attended Christ Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus in 1957. After high school, Milt worked on the family farm and did carpentry work. On May 1, 1962 he enlisted in the Army was stationed at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. He was part of the 50th Engineer Company (construction). He was honorably discharged on June 30, 1964.
Upon returning to Columbus, Milt once again went back to working on the family farm and also worked for Loup Power. On November 20, 1966 he married Mona Deichmann at St. John's Lutheran Church in Leigh, Nebraska. In 1967, he joined B-D Construction Company in Columbus where he was currently the general manager.
Milt was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He loved to play softball in his earlier years as well as fishing, hunting and gardening. His sons and grandchildren were the most important people in Milt's life.

Florence "Bobo" M. Maier

Florence "Bobo" M. Maier, 83, died Sunday, November 25, 2001 at Beverly Healthcare Center, Columbus, Nebraska. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. at the Federated Church in Columbus, with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Interment will be at Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2001 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM, Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Columbus Public Library or the Columbus Senior Center.

Florence was born icon December 1, 1917 in Lincoln, Nebraska to William & Grace (Walker) Doggett. She graduated from Lincoln High in Lincoln, Nebraska. She moved to California where she attended Business College. While in California she worked for Selznik Studio's during the making of "Gone With The Wind" . During the making of this film, Florence was asked to crochet a shaw which was worn by the actress who played Melanie in the movie. She was also an extra in the train yard scene in "Gone With The Wind". Upon returning to the Midwest, she married Louis (Bob) Maier on November 23, 1945 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was a secretary for Jack Byrnes Insurance Company in Columbus for many years. In 1970, she joined the Columbus Police Department as the Communications Operator. She retired from the police department in 1985.
Florence, known as "Bobo" to her family and close friends, was an avid reader and enjoyed visiting the Columbus Public Library. She also enjoyed attending the Columbus Senior Center. Besides reading, her time was spent crocheting and doing needlework and playing bridge. She was a member of the Federated Church, the Ladies Auxillary VFW and the American Association of Retired Persons.
