Lawrence L. "Larry" Kuntz

Lawrence L. "Larry" Kuntz, 67, of Genoa, NE, died Tuesday, October 24, 2000 at the Genoa Community Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 27, 2000 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Rose Of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa with Father Robert Nienaber officiating. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery in Genoa with military honors. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 26, 2000 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and from 6:00-7:30 P.M. with a 7:30 P.M. rosary all at St. Rose Of Lima Catholic Church.

Lawrence L. Kuntz was born icon September 20, 1933 in Loup City, Nebraska to Jacob and Mary (Borzekowski) Kuntz. Larry grew up in Beatrice, NE and graduated from Beatrice High School. He entered the U.S. Army on September 15, 1953 and was Honorably Discharged on September 14, 1955 and attained the rank of SP3. On August 11, 1956 Larry married Joan Ramaekers in Genoa, NE. They lived in Genoa all their lives and Larry worked as a self-employed carpenter. Larry was Past President of the Holy Name Society and an EME at St. Rose Of Lima Catholic Church. He was active in the Lions Club, American Legion, and he was on the Genoa Park Board.

EDWARD O. MUELLER

Edward O. Mueller, 91, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, October 3, 2000 at the Genoa Community Hospital in Genoa, NE. Services are Friday, October 6, 2000 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Columbus with the Rev. Nancy Peebles officiating. Interment will at the Roselawn Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 5, 2000 from 3:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Friday, October 6, 2000 from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church.

Edward O. Mueller was born icon October 15, 1908 in Rural Platte County, Nebraska to Samuel T. and Lena (Egger) Mueller. He attended District 3 school. He married Delila Miller on August 16, 1933 in Columbus, Nebraska. Delila preceded him in death on August 18, 1966. Edward married Martha (Lutjelusche) Muhle on May 10, 1969 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Edward was a lifelong farmer in the Oconee area. He semi-retired in 1969 and moved to Columbus. He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ and was a past president of the church council.

He served on the Oconee District 25 School Board for 20 years and the Oconee Township Election Board. He was also active in the organization of the Lakeview School District. Edward was a member of the Swiss Manennerchor Society.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Luke's Church Building Fund, Lakeview Education Foundation or Donor's Choice.

David W. Lloyd

David W. Lloyd, 75, of Columbus, NE died October 24, 2000 at the Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus. Services will be held at St. Luke's United Church of Christ Columbus, NE on Friday, October 27, 2000 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Nancy Peebles officiating. Private family interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Thursday, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
David W. Lloyd, 75, was born icon in rural Lindsay, Nebraska on August 27, 1925 to William and Alma (Albers) Lloyd. He attended school Districts #42 and 64. He married Gladys Will on October 1, 1948 in Seward, Nebraska. He spent his entire life in the Platte County area.
David was a farmer, metal worker and wood craftsman. He was a past member of the Eagles. He enjoyed card playing. He was also a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Columbus. Memorial may be made to the donors choice.

David is survived by:

Lyle B. McComb

Lyle B. McComb, 84, of St. Edward, Nebraska, formerly of Columbus, Nebraska, died Tuesday, November 7, 2000 at the Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward.

Memorial Services will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Saturday, November 11, 2000 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Paul Rowoldt officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Military honors by American Legion Hartman Post 84. There will be no visitation.

Lyle B. McComb was born icon June 28, 1916 in St. Edward, Nebraska to Frank and Nannie (Condreay) McComb. He graduated from St. Edward High School in 1934. He served in the Army during World War II from April 10, 1941 to October 7, 1945. He was a tank commander with the 803rd Tank Destroyer Battalion and served in the European Theater. Lyle married Leona Christensen on October 30, 1946 in Washington, Kansas, they moved to Columbus from St. Edward in 1952.

He was a truck driver for Werner Trucking in St. Edward and then later for Behlen Manufacturing in Columbus. He worked for Person's Sport Shop for a short time, then worked as a custodian at Becton-Dickinson for 13 years, retiring in 1981.

Donald E. Ballenger

Donald E. Ballenger, 69, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, March 4, 2002 at the Beverly Health Care Center in Columbus.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2002, 2:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy White officiating. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Hartman Post # 84. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 P.M.

Don was born icon April 2, 1932 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to William and Lucinda (Potts) Ballenger. On May 6, 1949, Don entered the U. S. Army. He was involved in the Korean War as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne and was honorably discharged on October 29, 1952. On September 25, 1967, Don married Phyllis Jennings in Lancaster, Missouri. After living in Council Bluffs, IA for several years, they moved to Columbus in 1975 where Don worked for the U. S. Railroad as a refrigeration mechanic. After retiring from the Railroad in 1995, Don continued to work for Pinkerton Security where he worked as a unit supervisor. Don enjoyed swimming, spending time with people, and working on his computer.

Ervin R. Bonner

Ervin R. Bonner, 90, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, June 24, 2002 at Columbus Manor in Columbus. Services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, Columbus, Nebraska on Thursday, June 27, 2002 at 10:30 AM with the Revs. Michael Klatt & Ernest G. Smith officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Peace Lutheran Church on Thursday, from 9:30 AM until service time. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM on Thursday at the church.

Ervin R. Bonner was born icon April 26, 1912 in Columbus, Nebraska to Ernest and Ethel (Rinesmith) Bonner. He graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus. After graduation, Ervin went to work for his older brother Orlo in Logan, Iowa. This is where he learned the printing business. Upon returning to Columbus, Ervin worked for Otto Walters at the Art Printery. On April 18, 1936, Ervin married Lillian Loseke in Leigh, Nebraska. He worked for a time at the Columbus Telegram before moving to the family farm north of Columbus where he farmed for a number of years.
While farming, Ervin worked part time at the Leigh World Paper and the Norfolk Daily News. He moved the family back to Columbus in 1958, and once again went to work at the Columbus Telegram. He was a Production Supervisor for the Telegram and retired in 1977 after working in the printing business for 29 years.
Ervin was a past member of Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh, Nebraska. While a member of Zion, Ervin was active in the Lutheran Laymen's League. Ervin was one of 30 charter members of Peace Lutheran Church. He had served on the church's building fund committee, was an elder, usher, and a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League. He enjoyed bowling and dancing.

Nancy Elizabeth Bartholomew

Nancy E. Bartholomew, 64, of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, July 25, 2002 at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Columbus, NE on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at 10:00 AM with Father Mark Bridgman officiating. Interment will be at the All Saints Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM and at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church on Monday from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM with a vigil service at 7:00 PM.
Nancy E. Bartholomew was born icon November 14, 1937 at St. Mary's Hospital in Columbus, Nebraska to Harvey and Elizabeth (Scholz) Roth. She graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus in 1955 and from the Platte College Nursing School in Columbus in 1971. On August 3, 1957 she married Robert (Bob) Bartholomew in Glenwood, Iowa. Nancy was a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at the Columbus Hospital. Nancy worked as a nurse at the hospital for 31 years. Nancy was a member of the Women's International Bowling Congress and the Amateur Trapshooting Association. She was a past member of the Columbus Fire Department Auxiliary and an Ambassador for the Columbus Hospital. Nancy served on multiple Quality Assurance Teams at the hospital.
