Delores Berry, 67, of Columbus, Nebraska died Sunday, May 12, 2002 at her home.

Services will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Timothy White officiating. Interment will be at the Cotesfield Cemetery in Cotesfield, Nebraska at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM.

Delores E. Berry was born icon October 4, 1934 in St. Paul, Nebraska to Vance and Myrtle (Mortensen) Lind. She graduated from St. Paul High School. After living for short periods in Pennsylvania and Ohio, she moved with her children in 1960 to Lincoln, Nebraska where she worked at Lincoln Tab. In 1970, they moved to Columbus. Delores worked at Behlen Manufacturing Company in the computer department and at the Columbus Drive-In Theatre. She retired from Behlen's in 1996 and then worked at Wal-Mart. She was a member of the Eagles, Eastern Star and St. Paul Presbyterian Church. Delores enjoyed cooking, camping, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time and traveling with her dog Buddy.

Luella M. Reuter

Luella M. Reuter, 91 of Omaha, Nebraska formerly of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, March 1, 2001 at Millard Good Samaritan Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Services are Monday, March 5, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, Nebraska with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 5, 2001 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the church.

Luella Reuter was born icon on January 13, 1910 at Beemer, Nebraska to Charles and Christina (Matz) Castle. She married John Reuter on September 25, 1929 at Yankton, South Dakota. They lived for 2 years in Norfolk, Nebraska, then moved to California for 3 years, then moved back to Nebraska and started farming, living for 2 years at Leigh, Nebraska and for 37 years at Monroe, Nebraska. They retired from farming in 1972 and moved to Columbus where they lived until 1997 when they then moved to an assisted living facility in Omaha. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus.

Irwin Wennekamp

Irwin Wennekamp, 77 of Columbus, Nebraska, died March 1, 2001 at the Beverly Healthcare Center in Columbus.

Services are Monday, March 5, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Columbus, Nebraska with Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. Interment will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in rural Leigh, Nebraska at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2001 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Monday, March 5, 2001 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Irwin Wennekamp was born icon July 31, 1923 in rural Creston, Nebraska to George and Marie (Groteluschen) Wennekamp. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School. He was a farmer and cattle feeder in a partnership with the Luchsinger family all of his life.

Reuben C. Schmitt

Reuben C. Schmitt, 91, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Sunday, June 10, 2001 at Mory's Haven Nursing Home in Columbus.

Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, NE on Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Grand Prairie Cemetery in Platte Center, NE, Wednesday at 1:30 P.M.. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM.

Reuben C. Schmitt was born icon November 26, 1909 in Madison, Nebraska to Jacob and Martha (Kallweit) Schmitt. Reuben grew up on the family farm and attended school in rural Madison. On January 11, 1942 he married Madeline Hassebrook in Columbus, Nebraska. They farmed near Platte Center for several years before moving to Columbus in 1955. Reuben went to work for a chicken hatchery and later worked for many years at the Reece Wooden Shoe Co. He was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood and enjoyed visiting and playing cards with his friends.

Jack Lee Robertson

Jack L. Robertson, 70 of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, July 28, 2001 at Columbus Community Hospital.

Services will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at 10:30 A.M., with Dr. Dorsie Ivy officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post 84. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 30, 2001 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 from 9:00 A.M. until service time at Gass Haney Funeral Home.

Jack L. Robertson was born icon May 21, 1931 at Gresham, Nebraska to Herchel and Winona (Hullihen) Robertson. He graduated from Kramer High School. Jack served in the US Navy then returned to Columbus and worked at Union Pacific Railroad, Nebraska Public Power District and Moorman Feeds. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the surrounding area. He was a life member of the VFW.

Emma G. Roelle

Emma G. Roelle, 94, of Valley, Nebraska, formerly of Columbus, Nebraska, died January 22, 2001 at the ValHaven Nursing Center, Valley, Nebraska. A Memorial Graveside Service will be 10:30 AM Friday, January 26, 2001 at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus; followed by an 11:00 AM Memorial Service at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Columbus with Rev. Nancy Peebles officiating. There will be no visitation.

Emma G. Roelle, was born icon August 10, 1906 in Columbus to Carl and Louise (Hertig) Roelle. She attended schools in Columbus. She was the bookkeeper for her family's sheet metal business, both for the Columbus and Schuyler locations. Having never married, she remained in the family home caring for her elderly parents until their deaths.
When her sister Lucy Davis passed away, Emma welcomed Lucy's two daughters; Sandy and Lois into the Roelle family home. She eventually became surrogate grandmother to Kirk and Kent Trofholz and Shawn and Kristin Rosacker.
When Emma's sister Lil entered Mory's Haven, Emma made daily visits to her and took her on regular outings. She enjoyed taking Lil tomatoes from the garden, fresh fruit and other items Lil had enjoyed when she was still at home.
Emma was an avid reader and enjoyed a period working at the Columbus Public Library. Her nieces remember here coming home from the library with an armful of books, all of which would be read in there entirety before the due date to return them.
Emma was in the nursing home for eight years, the last eight months as a resident in the ValHaven Nursing Home in Valley.
Emma was a lifelong member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ. She loved family dinners and was an excellent cook.

Memorials may be directed to the Columbus Food Pantry or the Valley Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

Lorenz A. Rodehorst

Lorenz A. Rodehorst, 75, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, August 06, 2001 at his home north of Columbus .
Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Columbus, on Thursday, August 09, 2001 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Timothy White officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in rural Platte County.
Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 8, 2001, from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, August 9, 2001 from 9:30 AM until service time.
Lorenz A. Rodehorst was born icon March 24, 1926 in rural Platte County to Alfred and Ida K. (Luchsinger) Rodehorst. He attended rural School District #80 and Kramer High School in Columbus. He farmed with his father on the family farm until entering the service. On June 7, 1945, Lorenz joined the US Army and served 13 months in Italy. He was honorably discharged on February 2, 1947. He returned to the family farm and once again worked the land with his father.
On February 4, 1951, Lorenz was united in marriage to Lois L. Benning at St. John's Lutheran Church, Shell Creek, rural Platte County. Together they farmed the family farm north of Columbus for more than 50 years raising livestock and grain. He did custom livestock hauling and was devoted to his farm. They received the Farm Family Award in 1988.

Lorenz was a former member of Platte County Agricultural Society, served on the Platte County Extension Board and 4-H Council and was the Friends of 4-H Award recipient in 1993. He was a member of District #80 and District #10 School Boards for 20 years. Lorenz was also a past president of Farm Bureau and a past member of Pla-Co and Platte Valley Cattleman's Association.
Lorenz was a long-time supporter of the Lakeview High School FFA, receiving the Honorary FFA Chapter Degree in 1999 and the first Lakeview FFA Foundation Award in 2001. For more than 25 years, Lorenz was a ticket taker for Lakeview games and was a supporter of the FBLA at Lakeview. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus and had served as an usher.

Lorenz always felt that his family came first and so he devoted many long and loving hours to his wife and children. He enjoyed going to many of his children's and grandchildren's activities.
