Lucille A. Rosendahl, 91, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2002, 2:00 P.M. at the Fairview Cemetery in Creston, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Marsha Jark-Swain officiating.

Lucille A. Rosendahl was born icon April 18, 1911 in Platte County, Nebraska to William and Ida (Rowlett) Barrett. She attended Creston High School. She married Rudolph R. Rosendahl on February 27, 1930 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They farmed west of Creston and moved to Columbus in 1964. Lucille was a homemaker.

C. Elizabeth Illian

C. Elizabeth Illian, 92, of Columbus, Nebraska, died September 27, 2001 at the Plattsmouth Manor in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Services are Monday, October 1, 2001 at 11:00 AM at the Federated Church in Columbus, with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 PM, Monday at the Dublin Cemetery near Primrose, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, September 30, 2001 at Gass Haney Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, October 1, 2001 from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 AM, Monday at the church. In lieu flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Federated Church Landscaping Fund.

Elizabeth was born icon January 14, 1909 on a farm near Primrose, Nebraska to William Henry and Hannah Priscilla (Patterson) Illian. She graduated from Albion High School in 1926. She attended Wayne State College and Creighton University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Art. She taught for many years in rural Platte and Boone county schools. She joined the Columbus Public School system in 1947 and retired in 1974.
From 1945 until the mid 1960's, Elizabeth was co-owner with her parents of the former "Platte County Farm" which was located north of Columbus. She and her father moved into Columbus in the mid '60's. Elizabeth was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and enjoyed traveling with this group. She was a member of the Federated Church and the Federated Women's Circle group. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.

LeRoy Schlender

LeRoy Schlender, 83, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Columbus, died Sunday, February 23, 2003 at the Bryan LGH - West in Lincoln.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, February 26 at 10:30 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Roland A. Jank officiating. Interment will be at the St. Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Hartman Post # 84 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 25 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Wednesday, February 26 from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M.

LeRoy E. Schlender was born icon July 21, 1919 in Madison, Nebraska to Ernest and Cecelia (Knapp) Schlender. LeRoy attended school in Madison and graduated from Madison High School. He joined the U.S. Army on July 10, 1941 and served overseas during WWII. He was Honorably Discharged on October 19, 1945. In August of 1947, LeRoy married Clara Borer in Lindsey, Nebraska. He lived in Columbus and worked as an accountant for Nash Finch and also Kosch Manufacturing. He then went to work for the Platte County Highway Department and continued to work there until his retirement. In August of 1963 LeRoy married Maxine Behle in Columbus. He continued to live in Columbus until he moved to Lincoln in 2000. LeRoy enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing, singing in the church choir, and spending time with his family and friends. Memorial may be directed to the Veterans Hospital or the Walter Apartments.

Maudeline Rupprecht

Maudeline Rupprecht, 93, of Cornell, Wisconsin, formerly of Columbus, Nebraska, died Thursday, February 27, 2003 at the Cornell Area Care Center in Cornell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 3, 2003, at 10:00 AM at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with Fr. Mark Bridgman officiating. Interment will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus.

Maudeline Rupprecht was born icon May 25, 1909 in Buttler County, Nebraska (near Bellwood) to Emil and Mable (Cleland) Klotz. She attended schools in Saunders County, Memphis High School and Ashland, Nebraksa. On November 27, 1940 she married Frank Rupprecht. She lived in California until 1965 when she moved to Columbus, Nebraska. She later moved to Cornell, Wisconsin. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church while she lived in Columbus.

Helen Swantz, 81, of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, January 9, 2003 at Beverly Health Care in Columbus.

Funeral services will be held in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.

Betty D. Rood

Betty D. Rood, 78, of Columbus, Nebraska died Friday, July 11, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Bill Ritter officiating. Interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Monday, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM and at First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM, with a family prayer service at 10:15 AM. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church.

Betty Darlene Rood was born icon August 29, 1924 in York, Nebraska to Thomas (Spike) and Edna Mae (Holoch) Turner. She moved to Columbus in 1939 where she graduated from Kramer High School in 1942.

Betty married Warren Rood on October 12, 1944 in Seward, Nebraska. During the war years she worked for Montgomery Ward in Columbus and Ft. Worth, Texas.

She sold war bonds and attained the honorary rank of General, for her contribution to the war effort. She served for many years as a camp director and group leader for Brownie and Girl Scout groups. Betty was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels and the United Way. She served for many years on the Election Board and several years as Co-Chairman of the City Democratic Party. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, a social sorority. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served as a District Program Resource Chairman. Betty also served as Dinner Chairman for her church circle for many years, which included the Continental Dinner.

Bernice H. Rosendahl

Bernice H. Rosendahl, 73, of Columbus Nebraska died Thursday, July 17, 2003 at her home in Columbus.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2003, 10:00 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 14 miles North with Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20 from 3:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Monday, July 21 from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 9:45 A.M.

Bernice H. Rosendahl was born icon in rural Creston, Nebraska to Adolph and Elvira (Osten) Kapels on February 7, 1930. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church (14 miles north), rural Columbus, Nebraska on March 9, 1930. Bernice re-affirmed her Baptism through confirmation on April 18, 1943 at St. John's Lutheran Church. She received her education at St. John's Lutheran School.
Bernice and Roland Rosendahl were united in marriage on February 2, 1949, at St. John's Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and a business partner with her husband. They lived on a farm near Creston before moving to Columbus in 1998. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, walking, and her grandchildren. She was a very active member of the church where she was a member of the Women's Missionary League and the church choir.

Bertha W. Wurdeman, 100, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2003 at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Roland A. Jank and Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Thursday from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the church, with a family prayer service at 10:15 AM.

Bertha Wilhelmina Wurdeman was born icon October 10, 1902 in rural Columbus, Nebraska to John and Louise (Wurdeman) Ahrens. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church. She attended District 2 school, rural Columbus. Bertha married Carl (Reiny) Wurdeman on March 28, 1951 in Wray, Colorado. They lived in Loveland, Colorado for 20 years and moved to Columbus in 1971. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a homemaker.

Colette Sue Schilling

Colette Sue Schilling, 43, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, July 7, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, Columbus, Nebraska on Thursday, July 10, 2003 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Michael Klatt and Rev. Ernest Smith officiating. Interment will be at the Bancroft Cemetery in Bancroft, Nebraska. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Peace Lutheran Church on Thursday, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. There will be a family prayer service Thursday at 10:15 AM at the church.

Colette S. Schilling was born icon August 23, 1959 in West Point, Nebraska to Lawrence Duane and Jeanette Emma (Petz) Flock. She graduated from Bancroft High School in 1977. She married Mark E. Schilling on August 27, 1977 in Bancroft. They moved to Gothenburg, where she worked as the manager of the Pizza Hut for 14 years. They moved to Columbus in 1993. She worked at Columbus Custom Embroidery, the A & W restaurant, Advance Services and most recently as an advertising representative for the Columbus Telegram. Colette was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
