Birdella Wurdeman

Birdella Wurdeman, 82, of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church rural Columbus, Nebraska on Monday, October 22, 2001 at 10:30 AM with Rev. John E. Nelson, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Sunday, October 21, 2001 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Christ Lutheran Church on Monday, October 22, 2001 from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM Monday at the church.

Birdella Wurdeman was born icon July 7, 1919 in rural Platte County, Nebraska to Arthur and Birdie (Pilling) Ahrens. She graduated from Kramer High School in 1935 and attended Wayne State College. Birdella married Edward Wurdeman on December 12, 1941 at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus, Nebraska. She taught at schools in rural Platte County and then worked at Nebraska Public Power Company until retirement. After retiring she worked part-time at Loup Public Power Company. She lived all of her life in Platte County. Birdella was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Christ Lutheran Ladies Aid, LWML, Lutheran Layman's League and she had been a Sunday school superintendent for 30 years at the church.

Elsie Wennekamp

Elsie Wennekamp, 83, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, June 30, 2003 at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.

Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Columbus, Nebraska on Thursday, July 03, 2003 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Thursday, from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM. There will be a family prayer service Thursday, 9:45 AM at the church. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Elsie Wennekamp was born icon December 1, 1919 at rural Leigh, Nebraska to William J. and Mathilda (Cattau) Korte. She attended school in rural Leigh. Elsie moved to Omaha, where she worked at various jobs. She married Henry Sieh on October 24, 1945, he preceded her in death on February 25,1956. Elsie married Martin Wennekamp on June 1, 1963, he preceded her in death on February 19, 2002. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years. Elsie was a member of the Evening Guild and the Couple's Club at the church. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of several card clubs through the years, and a member of TOPS.

Merna L. Wetgen

Merna L. Wetgen, 71, of Columbus, Nebraska died Sunday, June 15, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. There will be a family prayer service on Thursday at 10:15 AM at the church.

Merna (Mert) Wetgen was born icon May 21, 1932 in Columbus to Fred (Fritz) and Martha (Klug) Ingold. She was educated in Columbus, graduating from Kramer High School in 1950. She married LaVern Wetgen on August 8, 1954, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus.
The Wetgen's farmed north of Columbus until April 1981 when they moved to Columbus. She was a homemaker and a member of the Upper Ten Extension Club for many years. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed growing flowers, embroidery, crafts, and watching NASCAR racing.

Ronald Williams

Ronald Williams, 56, of Columbus, Nebraska died Sunday, June 1, 2003 at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska

The funeral service will be on Thursday, June 5, 2003, 2:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Pat Cool officiating. Interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home.

Ronald L. Williams was born icon May 30, 1947 in Hastings, Nebraska to Russell and LaVetta (Hollister) Williams. Ronald attended school in Aurora, Nebraska. He married Mary Wolfe on November 10, 1966 in Grand Island, Nebraska. They moved to Columbus in 1966 and Ron worked at B-D Construction for many years. He enjoyed fishing, race cars, vacationing, and playing cards.

Ruth Siffring, 86, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, May 24, 2003 at Beverly Healthcare of Columbus. Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus, on Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Roland A. Jank & Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.

Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Wednesday, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday at 10:15 AM at the church.

Ruth Siffring was born icon May 7, 1917 in rural Gresham, Nebraska to Fritz and Clara (Durhiem) Fischer. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and on August 28, 1935 married Rudolph Siffring at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Gresham. They lived south of Rising City, Nebraska before moving to Columbus, Nebraska in 1945.
Ruth enjoyed flowers and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus.

Jenelda A. Rayburn

Jenelda A. Rayburn, 78, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Ritter officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery at 1:00 PM. There will be no visitation.

Jenelda A. Rayburn was born icon May 21, 1925 in Riverton, Nebraska to Floyd and Mae (Brown) Haring. Jenelda graduated from Franklin High School in 1942 and then attended Kearney Normal Teaching School. Jenelda also attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated with a BS degree. She married Allan Rayburn on July 30, 1950 at Franklin, Nebraska. She was a teacher in western Nebraska for ten years and then taught in Columbus at Williams, Highland Park, Lincoln, and West Park Schools for 29 years before retiring in 1987. Jenelda was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was also active in the Women's Circle. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Kamma sorority and the Tuesday Craft Club.

Pamela Lea Zehring

Pam Zehring, 36, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, October 25, 2003 in Loup County, Nebraska, as a result of an auto accident.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Ritter officiating. Interment will be on Thursday, October 30, 2003 at 10:00 AM at the Columbus Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home. There will be a family prayer service on Thursday at 10:45 AM at the church.

Pam L. Zehring was born icon August 21, 1967 at Columbus, Nebraska to Dale and Marilyn (Yost) Zehring. She attended Lost Creek Elementary School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1985, where she played the flute in the band, was a member of the pep club and involved in DECA. She was also involved in Campfire Girls, Job's Daughters, UMYF, and was a Red Cross swimmer. She attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Pam worked as an assistant manager at McDonald's in Omaha and Columbus, she also worked at Watts Telemarketing in Omaha and Dale Electronics in Columbus. She was currently a secretary in the Radiology Department at the Columbus Community Hospital. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Eagles, and in a bowling league.
