Lynsey Marie Kapels, 19 month old daughter of Cory and Marie (Srb) Kapels died Friday, December 27, 2002 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
The funeral service will be on Monday, December 30, 2002, 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 14 miles north, rural Columbus, Nebraska with Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 - 6:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Sally S. Oakes, 74, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, December 28, 2002 at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at 1:30 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Nancy Peebles officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery.

Bill Keith, 59, of Ponca, Nebraska, died Monday, December 23, 2002 at the Elms Health Care Center in Ponca.
The funeral service will be Friday, December 27, 2002, 1:30 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus with Rev. Doug Holt officiating. Interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:30 A.M. - 1:30 P.M.

Della M. Kolar, 99, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at Morys Haven in Columbus.
Services will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Friday, January 18, 2002 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Gary Main officiating. Interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Friday, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM .
Della M. Kolar was born
March 26, 1902 in Platte County, Nebraska to Frank & Lena (Schupbach) Blaser. She went to District 5 school and then to Columbus High School. Della married Edward S. Kolar in Omaha, Nebraska on September 18, 1945. Della lived in California for a few years before moving to Omaha and then to Columbus in 1960. Della worked for many years doing clerical work at Dales Manufacturing. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. Della loved to play the piano and played for the church and other groups and schools. She also played in a Ragtime Band for many dances. Della was a member of the Keystone Club at the First United Methodist Church and also belonged to the Rebecca Lodge. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards.

Edna E. Lange, 87, of Columbus, NE died Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at Morys Haven in Columbus.
The funeral service will be Friday, January 11, 2002, 10:00 A.M. at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus with Rev. Mike Neely officiating. Interment will be at the Shell Creek Baptist Cemetery in rural Columbus. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 10, 2002 from 3:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Friday, January 11, 2002 from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church with a family prayer service at 9:45 A.M.
Edna E. Lange was born
March 29, 1914 in rural Columbus, Nebraska to William and Wilhelmina (Behlen) Lange. Edna attended District 35 grade school in Platte County and graduated from Kramer High School. She then attended and graduated from Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Edna stayed in Minneapolis where she did mission work for the Fingerhut Mission. Edna moved back to Columbus in the early 1970's. Edna was formerly a member of Shell Creek Baptist Church where she was very active within the church. She was a Sunday School teacher and continued her missionary work with many womens groups. Edna later joined the Highland Park Evangelical Free Church where she continued to remain active with different church organizations. Edna also enjoyed playing the organ and piano for both churches. Memorials may be made to the Highland Park Church Building Fund or Donors Choice.

Walter E. Luckey, 85 of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at Bryan LGH Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Services are Saturday, January 26, 2002 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church Shell Creek, rural Columbus, Nebraska with Rev. Peter Jark-Swain officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25, 2002 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Saturday, January 26, 2002 from 9:30 AM until service time at St. John's Lutheran Church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:00 Saturday at the church.
Walter E. Luckey was born
October 13, 1916 at Columbus, Nebraska to William H. and Elise L. (Loseke) Luckey. He graduated from Kramer High School. Walter married Gladys F. Hoessel on January 4, 1942 at Leigh, Nebraska. He farmed northeast of Columbus and had lived in Columbus since 1977. Walter was a charter member of the Rural Fire Board and a past member of the District 44 School board. He was a former 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher, church council member and chairman of the Building Committee at St. John's Lutheran Church. He had been a board member at the Farmers Union Coop in Richland and a past member of the Platte County Feeders. Walter was member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Men in Missions organization and a board member of the Platte County Historical Society. Walter had a love for people and his family. He enjoyed woodworking and playing cards.

Marcella Loseke, 86, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, July 22, 2002 at the Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville, Kansas. Services are 10:00 AM, Friday, July 26, 2002 at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Columbus, with the Rev. John E. Nelson Jr. officiating. Interment is at the Christ Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at the Gass Haney Funeral Home from 5:00 - 9:00 PM and on Friday, July 26, 2002 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 9:45 AM on Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Albert & Marcella Loseke Family Endowment Fund - Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, the Lutheran Hour Ministry or donors choice.
Marcella was born
May 24, 1916 in Platte Center, Nebraska to Edward and Mathilda (Petersen) Arndt. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Platte Center. She graduated from Platte Center High School. On October 10, 1935 she and Albert C. Loseke were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church. She then became a member of Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus.
Marcella was very active at Christ Lutheran Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher, member of the choir, past president of the Ladies Aid and the LWML (which she was still a member of), coordinator of the prayer chain and worked on quilts for World Relief.
She was a lifelong resident of Platte County. Marcella was also in the charter LPN class at Platte College. After receiving her license, she worked at the Columbus Community Hospital from 1969 to 1979 as an LPN. Marcella enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family.
