Martha M. Frutiger, 105, of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, September 4, 2003 at Morys Haven Nursing Home in Columbus.
Services will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Monday, September 08, 2003 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Bill Ritter officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Sunday, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Monday, from 9:30 AM until service time.
Martha M. Frutiger was born
June 11, 1898 in rural Platte County, Nebraska to Edward and Lydia (Aerni) Eisenmann. Martha was baptized in the German Methodist Church. She attended rural Platte County School. In 1934 she married Ferd Coley in Lincoln, Nebraska. He passed away in 1959. In 1966 she married Herbert Frutiger in Rockton, Illinois. He passed away in 1975. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting.

Lucille M. Luschen, 91 of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at Brighton Gardens, Omaha, Nebraska.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 24, at 10:30 AM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Interment is in the Columbus Cemetery. There is no visitation.
Lucille was born
September 13, 1912 in David City, Nebraska to Raymond and Ona (Wrede) Napier. She attended Bellwood and Columbus schools, graduating from Bellwood High School, Bellwood, Nebraska. She then attended cosmetology school in Lincoln, Nebraska. Lucille married Norris Luschen on October 30, 1939 in Hiawatha, Kansas. Lucille was a member of the Federated Church where she was in the Women's Fellowship and the Christian Women's Club. She was involved with the Girl Scouts as a troop leader, past president of the PTA, and a past Nobel Grand of the Rebekah Lodge.

Mayme Rockford
Mayme Rockford, 88 of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, April 12, 2004 at Beverly Healthcare, Columbus, Nebraska.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Columbus with Rev. Charles Davison and Rev. Dr. Larry Adams officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
Mayme was born
October 22, 1915 in Leigh, Nebraska to Henry and Tina (Husman) Beneke. She graduated from Humphrey High School and the Methodist Hospital Nursing School with her R.N. degree. She married Kenneth E. Rockford on December 8, 1940 in Hollywood, California. Mayme lived most of her life in the Columbus area.
Mayme was a nurse at the Lutheran Hospital which was later to become the Behlen Memorial Hospital and then the Columbus Community Hospital. Mayme did private nursing for a time. She retired from nursing when Behlen Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital merged and her grandchildren began arriving. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was involved with the American Baptist Women's group. Over the years, Mayme and Kenneth resided at Johnson Lake, Superior, Newman Grove, and Holdrege.

Reinhardt A. Theilen
Reinhardt A. Theilen, 82, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, April 16, 2004 at the Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.
The funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church, 14 miles north of Columbus, with Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Tuesday, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM with a family prayer service at 10:15 AM at the church. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
Reinhardt was born
December 4, 1921 in Creston, Nebraska to George and Eugenia (Hellbusch) Theilen. He attended St. John's Lutheran School. Reinhardt was united in marriage to Marcella Ann Engelbart on September 2, 1943 in Creston. He lived and farmed in Platte County until 1969. Reinhardt worked for the National Farmers Organization's Dairy Department for a number of years. They moved to Columbus in 1979.
Reinhardt enjoyed wood working and doing home improvements for others. He was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Arlin A. Kathka, 89 of Centennial, Colorado (formerly of Columbus, Nebraska) died Thursday, September 9, 2004 at the Christian Living Campus at the Johnson Center in Centennial.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 1, 2004 at 1:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church, Columbus, with Rev. Bill Ritter officiating. Interment will be on Friday, October 1 at 12:30 PM in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery, Columbus. There will be no visitation. Arlin Arthur Kathka was born
July 23, 1915, to Julius and Cora (Barrett) Kathka, west of Oberlin, Decatur County, Kansas. The family later moved to a farm north of Oberlin where Arlin attended East Liberty Country School. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1933, and in 1934 enrolled in the Grand Island Business School, Grand Island, Nebraska, where he studied until 1937.
In 1937, Arlin went to work for the Randall Oil Company in Columbus, Nebraska. He married Edith Ferne Wilcox, daughter of Laura and Leslie Wilcox, in 1938 in Ipswich, South Dakota. To this union three sons, David, Timothy, and Michael, were born.
After living briefly in Grand Island and Omaha, they moved to Columbus where they lived from 1942 to 1998. In 1998 they moved permanently to their winter home in Sun City, Arizona.
Arlin and partner Clyde Birney started the Columbus Oil Company in 1944 which they operated 24 hours a day and seven days a week until they sold the real estate to Equitable Savings and Loan Company in 1978.
Arlin belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Sun City, Arizona and the United Methodist Men. He volunteered at the Westside Food Bank in Surprise, Arizona.

Nataly Alarcon, infant daughter of Francisco & Natividad Alarcon, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, September 24, 2004 at the Children's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
The funeral service will be Monday, September 27, 10:00 A.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Father Bill Bond officiating. Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Columbus.
Richard F. Coffey
Richard F. Coffey, 92 of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, September 10, 2004 at the Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.
The Service of Thanksgiving will be held on Monday, September 13, 2004 at 2:00 PM at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Columbus, with Rev. Nancy Peebles officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to St. Luke's United Church of Christ, The Alzheimer's Association, or the donor's choice.
Richard was born
November 1, 1911 in rural Polk County, Nebraska to Roy and Lydia (Houser) Coffey. He attended Polk County Schools Dist. #4 and Burwell Schools. He married Gertrude Gerber on February 12, 1939 at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Columbus. Richard was a building contractor in the Columbus area for over 54 years. He was a life time member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters where he held many offices. He served as a judge at the National Carpenters Competition in Las Vegas.
Richard was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ and had served as the Church Treasurer, a member of the Parsonage and Church Building Committee, and a member of St. Luke's Brotherhood group. He enjoyed taking his family and grandkids to the Burwell Rodeo over the years. He enjoyed cornhusking competitions, playing cards, and cribbage. He was always helping out his friends and family with different projects and at the same time, was teaching his trade as he went along.
