Nancy Ann Holtz

Nancy Ann Holtz, age 66, of Schuyler, died Sunday, February 23, 2003 at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha.

Funeral services for Nancy will be Wednesday, 10:30 AM at the Kracl Funeral Chapel, Lay Minister Jerry L. Kracl officiating. There will be a private committal at a later date.

Nancy was born icon September 11, 1936, in Rensselaer, Indiana to Alonzo and Anabel (Nelson) Daniels. On February 5, 1957, she married Richard Lee Critser. Following his death she moved to Schuyler in 1989 and previously worked in the dietary department of Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Ruth) Critser of Schuyler, Debra (David) Przybylski of Evans, Colorado, Kimberly Critser of Schuyler, Sherry (Dagoberto) Ramirez of Columbus, Randy Critser of David City, John W. Critser of Ricketts, Iowa and Chad Allen Crister of Schuyler. 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Martin R. Shonka

Martin R. Shonka, age 76, of Schuyler, died Friday, October 4th at his home. Funeral Servcies for Martin were held Tuesday,October 8th, 10:30AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. Reverend Gerald Leise officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery with Military Graveside Services by Hespen-Mitchell Post 4836 of the V.F.W. and McLeod Post #47 of the American Legion. The United States Marine Corps Burial Detail will also participate. Visitation was held from noon-5:30PM on Monday at the Kracl Funeral Chapel and from 6-8PM at the church. There will be a combined Rosary Service for the Parish and Knights of Columbus, at 7:30PM. Visitation continued Tuesday morning from 8:30--10:15, at the funeral chapel.

Martin was born icon June 2, 1926 in Schuyler to Robert W. and Clara (Jonas) Shonka. He served in the United States Marine Corps in China from 1945-1946. He farmed near Schuyler for nearly 40 years and was a Pork Producer. He worked at Wagner Mills, Schuyler Coop, owned and operated Four Seasons Lawn Service and was recently a courier for First National Bank of Schuyler. Martin was past President of the Placo Pork Producers, member of NFO, Past Commander of the American Legion, member of the Knights of Columbus, Former Grand Knight and 4th Degree Knight, Schuyler VFW, Last Man's Club, the 40&8 and Schuyler Rotary. On January 8, 1988, he married Elva "Jean" Finley in Columbus and lived in Schuyler until the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Jean of Schuyler, a daughter, Marta (Bim) Gilson of Schuyler, son Doug (Michelle) Shonka of Savage, Minnesota, 2 sisters, Katie Havelka of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Roberta (Dr. Robert) Ortwein of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, nieces and nephews as well as 4 step-children, Linda (Mike) Follmer of Grand Island, Jim Finley of Hastings, Steve Finley, Idyllwild, California and Chris (Kurt) Bogus of Millard. Six grandchildren and 10 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Danny in 1968 and brother-in-law Smokey Havelka. Family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or St. Marys' Catholic Church in Schuyler.

Gary Lee McAuliffe

Gary Lee McAuliffe, age 48, of Schuyler, died Saturday, August 9, 2003 at his home. Funeral services for Gary will be held Wednesday, 10:30 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Schuyler, Reverend Dana Stout officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday from 4-8PM at the Kracl Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Gary was born icon August 8, 1955 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Walter and Sylvia (Willers) McAuliffe. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1973. On June 6, 1985, he married Margaret McCortney in Reno, Nevada. They lived in Santa Rosa California until 1995 when they returned to Schuyler, where he owned and operated GMC Builders. Gary loved carpentry and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret and daughter Cortney McAuliffe at home, one son, Justin McAuliffe of Mingus, Texas, his mother Sylvia McAuliffe of Schuyler, 3 brothers, Mark (Rogjean) McAuliffe of Schuyler, Kelly (Carol) McAuliffe of West Point, Neal (Traci) McAuliffe of Omaha, 6 sisters, Sue (Don) Ohde, Rita Wemhoff and Vickie (Paul) Mefford, all of Schuyler, Sandra (Dan) O'Conner of Wahoo, Loretta (Jerry) Wegener of Lindsay and Tracy (Ron) Palensky of Linwood, father and mother-in-law Igor and Vera McCortney of San Francisco, California, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in April of 2002.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family.

Emil M. Johannes

Emil M. Johannes, age 99, of Schuyler, died Friday, August 8, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare in Schuyler. Funeral services for Emil will be Monday 10:30 A.M. at the Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler. Reverend Dana Stout officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation Sunday from noon-8P.M., with the family present from 3-6P.M., and Monday 8:30 A.M. until time of service.

Emil was born icon May 20, 1904 in Abie, Nebraska, to Frank and Antonia (Virgl) Johannes. On January 12, 1925 he married Marcella Svoboda in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He farmed near Abie from 1925-1936 and moved to Octavia where he owned and operated Johannes Repair from 1936-1966. He had served on the School Boards of District #39 and Octavia District #17, the Octavia Town Board and was Mayor of Octavia for many years. He loved playing cards and fixing old clocks.

He is survived by one son, Richard (Marcella) Johannes of Schuyler, one daughter, Dorothy (Jim) Lambrecht of Schuyler, a grand-daughter, Debra Lambrecht of Lincoln, and a sister, Emma Nelson of Central City. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1999, six brothers, Frank, Bill, Louis, George, Otto, Anton and one sister, Rose Egr. Floyd Furtak

Floyd Furtak, age 96, of Schuyler, died Monday July 21, 2003, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, July 24, 10:30 AM, St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler. Reverend Gerald Leise officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery with Graveside Military Services by Hespen-Mitchell Post 4836 of the V.F.W. and Mcleod Post #47 of the American Legion. Visitation Wednesday from 4-8PM, with a 7:30PM Rosary Service for the Parish and Knights of Columbus, all at Kracl Funeral Chapel. Visitation Thursday from 8:30-10:00AM, also at the chapel.

Floyd was born icon January 24, 1907, in Elyria, Nebraska to Clement and Agnes (Nowicki) Furtak. He graduated form Ord High School. In November of 1931 he married Mildred Patt at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. After working for J.C. Penny in Grand Island they moved to Schuyler where Floyd worked for Brown-McDonald's until 1951, when he opened Furtak's Department Store. He served in the United States Army from 1944-1945. Floyd was a member of St. Augustine Parish since 1933, member and past secretary of the Knights of Columbus, Boy Scout leader,member of Fremont Chapter #1018 of the 40 & 8, and member and past commander of the Schuyler American Legion. He was responsible for lining up the floats in the Labor Day Parade for many years. He also enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing for well over 60 years.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Mary Pat Safranek, Fort Smith Arkansas, Rosemary Furtak of Minneapolis, and Kathyrn Furtak of Schuyler, 3 sons, Paul (Christine) Furtak of Bozeman, Montana, John (Louise) Furtak of Nelson, New Zealand and Steve Furtak of California. A brother, Raymond (Daisy)Furtak of Blair, Nebraska and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1992, a sister, Florence Love and 5 brothers, Leonard, Alfonse, Edmund, Sylvester and Thadeus, and son-in law Dr. Edward J. Safranek. Family suggest memorials to St. Augustine Catholic Church or Meals on Wheels.

Tony Tucker

Tony Tucker, age 41, of Omaha, formerly of Schuyler, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at his home. Funeral services for Tony will be held Wednesday, July 23rd, 2:00 P.M. at the Kracl funeral Chapel. Lay Minister Jerry L. Kracl officiating with burial in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday from 4-8PM and Wednesday, 9A.M. until time of service.

Tony was born icon November 27, 1961, in Camden, South Carolina. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1980. He worked as a bartender for Bosh's Restaurant in Schuyler and later for Anthony's Steak House in Omaha.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Okey, Plattsmouth, brother Hal Okey of San Diego, California, best friend Lee Bronola of Omaha, Uncle and aunt Waye and Nancy Jeffers of Lugoff South Carolina,and special aunt-Frances Stradley of Columbia, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Sherman Okey and Jimmy Tucker. Family suggest memorials to the First Presbyterian Church in Schuyler.

Gladys Kracman

Gladys Kracman, age 89, of Schuyler, died Monday, September 15, 2003, at the Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler. Funeral services will be held Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial, 9:30AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Schuyler. Reverend Gerald Leise officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation Friday from noon-8PM with a Rosary for the Guild at 3PM and a Rosary for the parish at 7:30PM, all at Kracl Funeral Chapel. There will also be visitation Saturday morning from 8-9AM.

Gladys was born icon January 12, 1914, in Linwood, Nebraska to Joseph J. and Sophie (Krenk) Barcal. She attended NImburg grade school and graduated from Schuyler HIgh School in 1932. On August 17, 1936 she married Ben Kracman at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Abie. They were married at 5AM to avoid the heat. They farmed in the Linwood area until 1947 when they moved north of Schuyler to the Midland Store area. Ben died in 1985 and Gladys then moved to Schuyler. She was a member of the church and the Ladies Guild.

Gladys is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Marvin) Jedlicka of Schuyler and Donna (Ron) Lopour of Clarkson. 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Albin "Beanie" Hoffman

Albin "Beanie" Hoffman, age 97, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003, at the Village Manor in Lincoln.

Funeral services for Beanie will be Saturday, 2:00PM at the Kracl Funeral Chapel. Lay Minister Jerry L. Kracl officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation Friday from 1-6PM and Saturday from 9AM until time of service.

Albin was born icon February 8, 1906, in Linwood to Frank and Francis (Stejskal) Hoffman. He attended Maple Hill School District 80 and Linwood High School. He began farming after completing the 10th grade when his father was injured.

He was a past member of the Schuyler Eagles, Platte Valley NARFE Chapter 1902 and Schuyler Western Fraternal Life Assurance Association. He served as Nebraska State President of District 5 of the Western Fraternal Lodge for 8 years. He also held various offices in the Linwood Lodge and served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Prague Bank. On November 1, 1934, he married Elsie Bosh in Omaha. They lived on the family farm near Linwood until 1964 when they retired and moved to Schuyler.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Sonja (Frank) Dvorak of Lincoln, Karen (William) Roberts of LaFayette, California, a sister, Mildred Bell of Tucson, Arizona, a brother, Robert (Lee) Hoffman of Lincoln and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elsie in 1989, 2 sisters, Clara Janovec and Blance Zeller and a son-in-law, Jack Bowlin.

John O. "Jack" Kroeger

John O. "Jack" Kroeger, age 75, of Schuyler, died Friday, November 28th in Lee's Summit Missouri. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 2nd, 2:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Schuyler. Reverend Tom Hallowell officiating. Committal will be at a later date. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services, at the church.

Jack was born icon August 17, 1928, in Schuyler to George and Louise (Olsen) Kroeger. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1946. He served in the United States Army from 1946-1948, as a Staff Seargent in Military Intelligence. He later served during the Korean Conflict, training troops for the conflict. On June 11, 1950, Jack married Laura Seckman at the Methodist Church in Schuyler. Jack and his brothers took over an auto repair business that was started by their father. Jack worked from the age of 14 until his retirement at the age of 73. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Loup Valley Mineral and Gem Society, American Legion McLeod Post #47, and the Schuyler Country Club. Jack enjoyed golfing, hunting, camping and working with stained glass. He was also a private pilot for many years. He enjoyed nothing more than to spend time with his family and was well known for his sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Laura "Lolly" of Schuyler, 2 daughters, Kathy (Ken) Cudly of Columbus, Tami (Jeff) Krejci, Hickman, Nebraska and a son Jay (Lee) Kroeger of Lee's Summit, Missouri. One sister, Georgean Prunty of Columbus, 3 brothers, William (Vi) Kroeger, Paul (Mary Ann) Kroeger and James Kroeger, all of Schuyler, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Brian and Scott Cudly, Tara Cudly Gardner, Ryan, Jerad and Taylor Krejci, Adam, Lauren and Jordan Kroeger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard and a son, Jeffrey John Kroeger. Family suggest memorials to St. John's Lutheran Memorial Fund.

Thomas W. Bailey

Thomas W. Bailey, age 88, of Schuyler, died Monday at the Beverly Healthcare Center in Schuyler. Funeral Services are Thursday, 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Schuyler. Reverend Terry Timm and William Mattfeld officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from noon-8P.M. with the family present from 5-7, and Thursday morning 9-noon, all at the Kracl Funeral Chapel. Visitation at the church from 1:00 until service time on Thursday.

Tom was born icon on the home place, in Schuyler, on March 5, 1915 to John C."Dick" and Mahalie Mae Hughes. He attended Schuyler Schools. On June 29, 1938 he married Eva Kroger in Omaha. He lived his entire life farming the family farm.

Tom was a past member of several local farm organizations and also had served as an Elder at Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was a member his entire life.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Gordon (Carolyn) Bailey, Phoenix, Arizona, two daughters, Janet (Paul) Schlautman of West Point and Linda (Eldon) Theilen of Schuyler, and daughter-in-law, Diann Svatora, also of Schuyler. Two sisters, Marcia Albertson of Alda and Edna Elaine Hamata of Tujunga, California. 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Elmer, Glen, David, Joyce, Richard "Chic" Bailey and sisters Elzada Bailey and Thelma Hesselgesser. His son Dean Bailey died January 21, 1984. Family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.

Shirley Krivohlavek

Shirley Krivohlavek, age 72, of Schuyler, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at the Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge. Funeral services for Shirley will be held on Saturday, 11:00 A.M. at Christ United Methodist Church in Schuyler. Reverend Janis Soule officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation Friday from noon-8P.M. with the family present from 5-7P.M., all at Kracl Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to services, On Saturday, at the church.

Shirley was born icon in Schuyler on October 15, 1931, to Edward V. and Millie (Koutnik) Varejcka. She graduated from Schuyler High School in 1949. On March 29, 1951, she married Tom Krivohlavek at Christ United Methodist Church in Schuyler. They farmed north of Schuyler until moving to town in 1990. Shirley had been a resident of the Parkview Nursing Home since 1993. Shirley was a homemaker and worked along side her husband farming and raising livestock, member of Eastern Star, the church and Alegent Health Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband Tom, of Schuyler, one son Mike of Nebraska City, a daughter, Lynn (Darrell) Hruska of Schuyler, brother Edward Varejcka,Jr. of Lincoln, brother-in-law Larry Mihulka of Beatrice, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers in infancy and a sister, Edna Mihulka. Memorials may be given to family choice.

Rosalind Pribnow

Rosalind Pribnow, age 84, of Schuyler, died Friday, January 30th at the Beverly Healthcare Nursing Center in Schuyler. Funeral services for Roz will be held on Wednesday, 10:30 A.M. at the Christ United Methodist Church in Schuyler. Reverend Janis Soule officiating, burial in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from noon-8P.M., with a Prayer Service at 7:30 P.M., all at the Kracl Funeral Chapel, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Roz was born icon December 16, 1919, in Talmage, Nebraska to Francis and Willa (Bohlken) Pickett. She graduated from Talmage High School in 1938. In January of 1939, she married Elmo Thomas Smith in Marysville, Kansas. They moved to Schuyler in 1956 and Elmo died in 1966.Roz married Elmer Pribnow in August of 1990 and continued to live in Schuyler. Elmer died in October of 1993. Roz worked in the office at Archer Daniels/Western Alfalfa for 20 years. She later worked as a teacher's aide at West Ward School and was an office assistant at the Schuyler Senior Center. She was a member of the church for over 60 years and previously taught Sunday School and was a Girl Scout leader. She was very active in her church and the United Methodist Women's organization. She also was president of the Advisory Council at the Senior Center and served for many years on the Schuyler Cemetery Board.

Roz is survived by her daughter, Sheryl (Jim) Otradovsky of Boise, Idaho, two sons-Tom (Peg) Smith of Shawnee, Kansas and Jerry (Elizabeth) Smith of Grand Island. 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and two sisters. Family suggests memorials to the church.

Leonard A. Richtig

Leonard A. Richtig, age 72, of Schuyler, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services for Leonard will be Wednesday, 10:30AM at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler with Reverend Gerald Leise officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery with Graveside Military Services by Hespen-Mitchell Post 4836 of the V.F.W. and McLeod Post #47 of the American Legion. Visitation Tuesday from noon-8PM with a 7:30PM Vigil Service, all at Kracl Funeral Chapel. There will be visitation on Wednesday from 8:30-10:00AM, also at the Chapel.

Leonard was born icon April 25, 1931, in Stanton County to Adolph and Julia (Sedlacek) Richtig. He married Rita Yosten on September 8, 1955, at Saint Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Clarkson. They farmed south of Clarkson until moving to Schuyler in 1962 where Leonard worked for Pokorny Oil Company, Soil Movers of Columbus and Excel Meatpacking in Schuyler, where he retired after 25 years.

He was a member of the church, the Knights of Columbus,American Legion and V.F.W. Leonard served for two years in the National Guard and also served in the United States Army from 1953-1955.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Rita, of Schuyler, 3 daughters, Terri (Barry) Ahlborn of Omaha, Penny (Jeff) Minnig of Flower Mound, Texas, and Michelle (Greg) Hood of Lincoln. 5 sons, Tim (Leesa) Richtig of Crete, Michael (Kimberly) Richtig, Hesston, Kansas, Rick (Vicki) Richtig, Minden, Iowa, Joe (Christine) Richtig, Puyallup, Washington, and Kenneth Richtig of Windsor, Colorado. One sister, Marilyn (Alden) Castka of Clarkson and 3 aunts, Wilma Sedlacek of Clarkson, Adeline Sedlacek of Columbus and Libbey Stoklasa, Lexington. Leonard is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Kristina, Aaron, Brittany, Heidi, Mack, Andrew, Amber, Kasandra, Bryan and Matthew Richtig, Nathan and Jonathan Minnig and Caleb and Amanda DeBuse.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Tom (1976) and grandson Scott Richtig. (1996)

Jerry Kment

Jerry Kment, 92, of Schuyler, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at the Beverly Healthcare Center in Schuyler.

Funeral services for Jerry will be held on Thursday, 10:30AM at the Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler with Lay Minister Jerry L. Kracl officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery.

Visitation Wednesday from 2PM--8PM with the family present from 5-7PM, and Thursday morning 8:30 until time of service. There will be lunch at the funeral chapel following the committal.

Jerry was born icon July 4, 1911, in Howells, Nebraska to Joe and Anna (Macurek) Kment. He attended District 11 School for 3 years and Fisher School for 7 years. On October 15, 1935, he married Helen Julia Houfek in Schuyler. They farmed north of Schuyler until 1981, when they moved to Schuyler.

He is survived by his wife, one son Marion "Mike" and his wife DeLores "Dee" Kment of Schuyler, one sister, Beatrice Brazda of Schuyler, a brother, Joe (Martha) Kment of Bellwood, a grandson, Dale (Kathy) Kment of Tucson, Arizona, 2 granddaughters, Jereada Tripp of Atlantic Iowa and Cindy Kment of Omaha. One step-grandson, David (Debbie) Brown of Schuyler, 5 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Alex L. Bideaux

Alex L. Bideaux, age 76, of Schuyler, died Wednesday April 7, 2004, at the Beverly Healthcare facility in Schuyler.

Funeral services for Alex will be held Monday, 10:30am at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Schuyler. Reverend Gerald Leise officiating with burial at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 3-8PM, family present from 5-8PM with a 7:30pm Vigil Service for the Knights of Columbus and Parish, all at the Kracl Funeral Chapel. There will be no viewing Monday morning.

Alex was born icon February 11, 1928, in Omaha, Nebraska to Alex H. and Nell (Grady) Bideaux. He served in the United States Army from 1946-1948, attended Creighton University and went on to Mortuary School in St. Louis. He married Joan Stotts on June 28, 1949, in Valentine, Nebraska. They moved to Schuyler in 1951 where he joined his father in business at Bideaux Funeral Home. Alex was a businessman and entrepeneur in the Schuyler area for many years. He was a member of the church, the Knights of Columbus and the VFW in Schuyler.

He is survived by his wife of Schuyler, 3 daughters, Mary Virginia (Rod) Kastner, of Petaluma, California, Mary Kathryn (Roger) Draper and Mary Ellen (Bob) Faltys, all of Schuyler, 2 sons, Alex Michael (Julie) Bideaux of Schuyler and Matthew Carl (Patty) Bideaux, of Lincoln. 3 sisters, Virginia (Mart) Healy of Schuyler, Carolyn Jonas of Lincoln and Barbara (Joe) Kaplan of Omaha. 11 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be given to Family Wishes. There will be a lunch at the church hall following the committal.

Judy A. Cartwright

Judy A. Cartwright, age 57. of La Vista, died at her home on March 18, 2004. She is survived by her husband Jerry of La Vista, daughters, Jackie (Robert) Fischer of Des Moines, Iowa, and Kelly Hayden of Omaha. Grandchildren; Sarah, Jacob, Ashley, Clarity, Mackenzie, Emile and Trevor. Brother, Rudy (Jody) Vanek of Fremont, her father, Rudie Vanek of Omaha, many aunts and uncles, cousins and co-workers. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 at the Heafey Heafey Hoffman Dworak and Cutler West Center Chapel Additional visitation Thursday from 3-8PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prague Nebraska with a Vigil Service at 7PM. Funeral Mass Friday, 10:30 AM, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Ron Holmes officiating. Burial in the Church Cemetery in Prague.

Judy was born icon October 19, 1946, in Wahoo Nebraska to Rudolph and Elaine (Roberts) Vanek. She was married in Prague on October 29, 1964 to Jerry Cartwright. She worked as an assistant manager for a clothing warehouse in Omaha.

Joseph W. Pospisil

Joseph W. Pospisil, 89, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Abie, died Tuesday, may 18, 2004, at the Meridian Nursing Home in Wichita.

Funeral services for Joe will be Saturday, 10:00 AM at the Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler with Lay Minister Jerry L. Kracl officiating. Burial in the Abie National Cemetery. There will be visitation Saturday morning from 9AM until time of service.

Joseph was born icon March 24, 1915, in Abie to Charles and Bessie (Hraban) Pospisil. He attended Abie schools and graduated from Prague High School. He later attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He was a retired engineer with the Lockhead Aviation Corporation.

On May 3, 1945, he married Mabel "Mickey" Minor in Glendale, California. She died in July of 1972. In 1980, he married Eunice Holt. He had lived in Glendale, Burbank and San Jose California and retired to Joplin Missouri. Joe was a member of the ZCBJ and a proud member of the Californians for Nebraska. He was proud of his personal friendship with NFL coach George Allen.

He is survived by his wife Eunice of Wichita, one daughter, Carol Bellow of Seattle, Washington, a sister, Barbara Cizek of Prague and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mabel, brother, Charles Pospisil and two sisters, Vlasta Daly and Helen Cain.

Family suggests memorials to the Hospice Care of Kansas in Wichita.

Clara Heinsohn

Clara Heinsohn, 100, of Schuyler, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at the Extended Care Unit of Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler.

Funeral services for Clara will be Friday, 10:30AM, St. Augustine Catholic Church in Schuyler with Reverend Gerald Leise officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation Thursday from noon-8PM with a 7:30PM Rosary Service for the Parish, all at Kracl Funeral Chapel. Visitation Friday from 8:30-10:00AM, also at the chapel.

Clara was born icon November 28, 1903, in Howells, Nebraska to Joseph and Anna (Uhlrich) Hron. On September 15, 1923, she married Charles Heinsohn in North Bend. They lived in Rogers until moving to Schuyler in 1943. Clara worked at Becker's Grocery Store and Chase Drug Store.

She was a member of the church, St. Augustine's Guild, the VFW Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Sister. Clara also worked as a Gray Lady at Schuyler Memorial Hospital for many years.

Clara is survived by two daughters, Darlene Marxsen Keith of Keller, Texas and Marie (Norman) Loseke of Schuyler. One son, Bernard (Shirley) Heinsohn of Columbus, a sister, Sally (Douglas) Loseke of Lincoln and several grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981, seven brothers and one sister.
