Anna Ferrari, 85, of Montclair, Calif., mother of Aurora resident Joey Mecham, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997 in Montclair.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 23 at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Montclair. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Orange County, Calif.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jean and JoAnn (Joey); nine grandchildren, including Jason Mecham and Allison Mecham Evans; seven great grandchildren and two brothers.
David L. George
David L. George, 67, of Aurora, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997 in Aurora.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aurora with Rev. John Keefe officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in York. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Metz Chapel, York.
He is survived by two sons, David George of Blair and Patrick (Valerie) George of Aurora; four grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Bonnie) George) of York; step-daughters, Nancy (Rex) Heiden of Waco and Jennifer (Charles) Turek of Kearney; five step-grandchildren.
Gerald W. Huffman
Gerald W. Huffman, 65, father-in-law of Aurora resident Greg Luthy, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997 in Denver.
Funeral services were Oct. 15 in Denver.
Survivors include his wife, Fern; daughters, Julie (Martin) Dahlke of Lincoln, Jan (Kevin) Weigum of Lakewood; son-in-law, Greg Luthy of Aurora; grandchildren, Jessica and Britian Luthy, Zachary Weigum and Kaitlyn Dahlke; brothers, Edmund and Bill; sisters, Mabel and Mary, all of Nebraska; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Jill Marie Luthy.
Litta Sidel
Litta Sidel, 83, of Aurora, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 8, 1997 at her home.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 10 in the chapel of Higby Mortuary in Aurora with Dr. Joseph Scahill officiating. Burial was in the Aurora Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Marvin Sr. of Richland; one daughter, Norma Jean Greipenstroh of Nebraska City; one brother, Willard Lundy; two sisters, Vera Krull and Neva Holmes; six grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Russell C. Senff
Former Hampton resident Russell C. Senff, 37, of Omaha, died Monday, Oct. 6, 1997 from injuries sustained in a car accident near Weston.
Services were Friday afternoon, Oct. 10 at Luther Memorial Church at 60th and Western Ave. in Omaha.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; two sons, Phillip and Eric of Curtis; his mother, Doris of Hampton; his father, Wilmer of Republican City; one sister, Sandra Fairley of Daykin; three brothers, Steve of Clay Center, Clark of Manhattan, Kan. and David of York.
Vada G. Mohr
Vada G. Mohr, 98, of Grand Island, died Saturday, Jan. 24 at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28 in the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island. Rev. C. Roger Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church.
Survivors include her five sons, Leonard Mohr of Grand Island, Donald Mohr of Central City, Peter Raymond Mohr of Aurora, Casper Dale Mohr of Hartford, Conn. and John Mohr of Van Cleave, Miss.; one daughter, Lois Obermeier of Aurora; 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Tonya Burns
Former Giltner resident Tonya Burns, 29, of Hastings, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998 at her home due to cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, Jan. 24 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hastings with Father David F. Bourek officiating. Burial was in Cedar View Cemetery, Doniphan.
Survivors include her husband, James Burns of Hastings; one daughter, Jordan Burns at home; parents, Joan and Frank Detamore of Hastings; her mother-in-law, Rhonda Smith of Noel, Mo.; two sisters, Terry (Joel) Hinrichs of Giltner and Tracy (Chris) Rutt of Hastings; one brother, Travis Detamore of Hastings; grandparents, Eugene Schmitz of Hastings and Don and Evelyn Detamore of Giltner.
Vernon Cline
Vernon Cline, 87, of Aurora, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 20, 1998 at Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Funeral services were Friday afternoon in the chapel of Higby Mortuary in Aurora with Dr. Joe Scahill officiating. Burial was in the Aurora Cemetery.
Survivors include his two sons, Robert (Vicki) Cline of Central City and Gerald (Jackie) Cline of Central City; a daughter, Donna (Ronald) Ellison of Gresham; one sister, Nora (Gordon) Johnson of Lincoln; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Vic Thompson
Vic Thompson, 73, of Aurora, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 21, 1998 at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Memorial services were held Saturday morning in the chapel of Higby Mortuary in Aurora with Dr. Joe Scahill officiating. Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include his two sons, Michael of Sutton and Norman of Alta Vista, Kan.; two daughters, Stephanie Penner and Dawn Haymart, both of Aurora; one brother, Tom Thompson of Houston, Tex. and a sister, Janie Morris of Wichita, Kan.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Rose Gardner, 92, of Aurora, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 16, 1998 at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Services were Monday morning, Jan. 19 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. George E. Damm officiated. Burial was in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery Monday afternoon.
Survivors include her brother, Alvin Rahrs of Aurora; nieces and nephews.

Caryl J. Nienhueser, 63, of Hampton, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998 at her home.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hampton with Rev. Loren Cooper officiating. Burial was in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth of Hampton; one daughter, Katherine (Pete) Gosda of Omaha; three sons, David (Virginia) Merten of St. Joseph, Mo., Nicholas (Nancy) Merten of Grand Island and Paul (Sheila) Merten of Lawson, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Malisa (Joel) Yearian of Fremont; one stepson, Jeffrey (Kaylene) Nienhueser of Omaha; one sister, Irene Boardman of Valley; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Myrtle Williamsen
Former Marquette resident Myrtle Williamsen, 90, died Thursday evening, Jan. 15, 1998 at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Funeral services were Monday morning, Jan. 19 in the chapel of Higby Mortuary in Aurora with Rev. Kelly Smith officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery at Kronborg.
Survivors include nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Victor Jones Sr.
Former Aurora resident Victor Jones Sr., 63, of Central City, died at his home at Twin Lakes, east of Central City on Wednesday morning, Jan. 14, 1998.
Funeral services were Saturday in the First Christian Church in Aurora. The Rev. Jay Mitchell will officiate. Burial was in the Aurora Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Carol of Central City; two sons, Owen of Grand Island and Victor Jr. of Aurora; two daughters, Melody Austin of Grand Island and Theresa Hart of McCook; one brother, Wayne of Moorpark, Calif.; three sisters, Verleen Ellis of York, Rozella Sackschewsky of Eustis and Judy Fye of Aurora; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and his stepmother, Oddetta Jones of Aurora.
Dr. Robert Gartner
Dr. Robert D. Gartner, 87, of Aurora, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998 at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
There will be a private family graveside service and a memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lincoln Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Reg Gartner of Grand Island; two daughters, Diane (William) Biesendorfer of Westminster, Colo. and Sharon Carlton of Lakewood, Colo.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Freda Pollard
Freda Faye Pollard, 79, of Omaha, died Nov. 22, 1998 in Omaha.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 25 at Westside Chapel to St. Pius X Church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Pollard is survived by one son, Bill (Delores) Jones of Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter, Cleonne (Don) Lightwine of Aurora; grandchildren Mark and Beth Lightwine, Shelly and Craig Weedin, Tammy and Gary Case, Cynthia and Frank Masciocchi, Trevor Connor and Austin Milbourn; sisters Lucille Jones, Bernice Helstand and Doris Fouts, all of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Norma Thallas, Lorraine Thallas and Dorothy Thallas; 13 nieces and 10 nephews.

Maxine Pivonka, 77, of Lincoln, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 at Butherus Maser-Love Mortuary, 4040 A Street in Lincoln.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Marlin) Seeman of Aurora and Janice (Dennis) Dethlefs of Omaha; two sons, Kent (Cathy) Pivonka of Sacramento, Calif. and Lee (Andrea) Pivonka of Lakewood, Colo.; a special friend, Norman H. Behrens of Crete; grandchildren Kristi (Shawn) O’Connor, Scott (Melissa) Dethlefs, Kelli Seeman, Kristen, Sarah and Max Pivonka.
Myrtle Spry
Myrtle Spry, 100, of Aurora, died Friday morning, Nov. 20, 1998 at Memorial Community Care in Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Funeral services were Monday at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Dr. Joe Scahill officiated. Burial will be in the Utica Cemetery in Utica. Higby Mortuary in Aurora was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, June Johnson; one granddaughter, Karen Bryant; one great granddaughter; three great-great grandchildren and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Del Dean and grandson Steven Norris.
Susan Blomstrand
Susan Blomstrand, 66, of Green Valley, Ariz., died early Sunday morning at a nursing home in Green Valley.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27 in the Aurora Cemetery. Rev. Vance Christie will officiate. Higby Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her husband; one son, Andy (Vicky) Blomstrand of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; her twin sister, Sally (Edson) Bridges of Omaha; her brother, Robert (Dorothy) Sveska of Escondido, Calif. a granddaughter; a brother-in-law, Greg Blomstrand of Aurora; several cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Frank; grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Shirley Griffith
Shirley Griffith, 64, of rural Aurora, died at her home northwest of Aurora on Friday morning, April 2, 1999.
Private graveside services were held at the Aurora Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Albert “Bill” Griffith of Aurora; one son, Wayne (Jana) Griffith of Aurora three daughters, Cindy (Mike) Hansen of Omaha, Cheri (Dennis) Fierstein of Grand Island and Lori (Dave) Ziska of Grand Island; one brother, Huebert Miller of Bruning; four sisters, Helen (Bob) Chancellor of Lincoln, Ila (Lew) Holland of Loveland, Colo., Dorothy (Virgil) Drohman of Boulder, Colo. and Ethel (Bob) Bell of Fruitland Park, Fla.; eight grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were Monday, April 5 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Burial was in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Richard (Virgene) Jensen of Aurora; one daughter, Julie (Dan) Newman of Aurora; one brother, Gene Strotman of Grand Island; one sister, Bethel Kolar of Aurora; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
