Julia Sellenrick

Julia E. Sellenrick, 94, of Plymouth, Neb., died at the Beatrice Manor May 19, 1998.

Survivors include a daughter, Eileen Bergmeier and her husband Harold of Plymouth; grandchildren, Greg Sellenrick and his wife Pam, Gerry Milius and Kelly Sellenrick, all of Lincoln, Dean Milius and his wife Deb and Jodi Hicks and her husband David, all of Plymouth; five great-grandchildren; stepgranddaughter, Karen Milius of California; two stepgreat-grandchildren; sister, Frieda Drewes of Plymouth; sister-in-law, Marion Mumby of Fairbury; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were May 22 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Plymouth with the Revs. Joel Frank and John Qualmann officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorial to family choice. Fox Funeral Home, Fairbury, service.

Edrie Rempel

Edrie Velma Rempel, 90, of Fairbury, Neb., died May 19, 1998, at Jefferson Community Health Center in Fairbury.

Survivors include her sons, Leslie D. of Bloomington, Ill, and Larry J. of Fairbury; daughters, Phyllis Wasserman and her husband Virgil of Fairbury and Colleen Detter and her husband James of Davenport, Iowa; brothers, Donald Flagle of Mahaska, Kan., and Dale Flagle of Fairbury; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were May 22 at the First Baptist Church in Fairbury with the Rev. Bob Kraus officiating. Memorials to the First Baptist Church. Burial was in the Fairbury Cemetery. Nuckolls-Meyer Funeral Home, Fairbury, service.

Lewis Bales
Lewis Bales, 73, of Fairbury, Neb., died Sept. 14, 1999, at BryanLGH East in Lincoln.
Survivors include his wife, Dodie; sons, Lewis and his wife, Caryn, and Ron and his wife, Linda, all of Fairbury; daughters, Carla Vance and her husband, Tom of Pleasant Dale and Diane Thompson and her husband, Richard of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Cecil and his wife, Cecelia of Glenvil; sister, Dorothy Everhardt of Tacoma, Wash.; mother-in-law, Letha Harris of Fairbury; and sisters-in-law, Joy Bales of Bremerton, Wash.; and Pearl Bales of Beatrice.
Services were Sept. 17 at the First Baptist Church in Fairbury with the Rev. Donald Brooks officiating. Memorials to family choice. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home, Fairbury, service.

Sydney Jantzen
Sydney Jane-Marie Jantzen was stillborn Sept. 7, 1999, at the Crete Hospital in Crete, Neb.
Survivors include her parents, Terri and Darwin Jantzen of Beatrice; brothers, Alex Jantzen and Cody Parker, both of Beatrice; grandparents, Marilda Kisling and Neva and Ernest Jantzen, all of Beatrice; great-grandmothers, Reka Wallman, Linda Champ and Agnes Jantzen, all of Beatrice; uncles and aunts, Michael Kisling and his wife, Robin of Yutan, Darin Kisling and his wife, Pam of DeWitt, Scott Jantzen and Darlene Funk and her husband, Bryan, all of Beatrice.
A private family service was held Sept. 10 at the First Mennonite Church at rural Beatrice. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at rural Plymouth. Harman-Wright Mortuary, Beatrice, service.

Eva Burnett

Eva Linnea Jacobson Burnett, 83 of Oakland died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.

Eva Jacobson was born icon Dec. 8, 1915, east of Oakland. She lived on a farm with her family in Oakland. She attended elementary school at Morningside School District 17. She helped her parents farm and also did domestic work for families in Oakland.

As a teen-ager she was a member of RQ Club. She married Carl Burnett Nov. 29, 1943, at West Side United Methodist Church in Oakland. They farmed on the Burnett place northeast Oakland. She did much of the work of raising livestock.

Her husband died Nov. 23, 1973. She retired to Oakland in 1974, living with her mother until 1977 when her mother died. She was active in Bell Creek Extension Club, RQ Club, Oakland Garden Club and Dorcas Society and Lutheran Church Women at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She also helped make quilts for Lutheran World Relief.

Survivors include: three daughters, Karlene (Mrs. Tom) Moomey of Elwell, Mich., Maxine (Mrs. Francis) Moul of Lincoln and Kris (Mrs. Rick) Johnson, rural Oakland; a brother, Everett (and wife, Orma) Jacobson of Oakland; a sister, Violet Dalquist of Randall, Minn.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland with the Rev. Mark Eldal officiating. Visitation will be 1-8 tonight with family receiving friends 5-8 p.m. at Palmquist-Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland and will continue one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in West Side Cemetery in rural Oakland.

LeRoy Kirchmann

The funeral for LeRoy J. Kirchmann, 87, of Fremont will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont.

He died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Fremont Area Medical Center.

Kirchmann was born icon Aug. 25, 1912, in Yutan. He grew up on the family farm north of Valley. He attended Valley High School. He married Dorothy McDuffee Nov. 23, 1969, at Pohocco Lutheran Church, south of Fremont. He continued to live on the same family farm until moving to Fremont on 1972. He continued farming until retiring in the early 1980s.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Survivors include: his wife; three daughters, DeLoris (Mrs. Lee) Witherington of Eclectic, Ala., Darlene Renn of Tucson, Ariz., and Janie (Mrs. Jack) Koberg of Iowa City, Iowa; three brothers, Melvin (and wife, Janet) Kirchmann of San Diego, Richard (and wife, Peggy) Kirchmann, and Francis “Frank” (and wife, Helen) Kirchmann, all of Fremont; a sister, Mildred Kirchmann of Fremont; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister-in-law, and a grandchild.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., and 9-11:30 a.m. Friday at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to Salem Lutheran Church and ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Hazel Leaver

Hazel Leaver, 93, of Fremont, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Fremont Care Center.

Services are pending at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Fremont.

Dorothy Provorse

The funeral for Dorothy L. (Deanie) Provorse, 68, of Fremont will be 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Fremont.

She died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Dorothy Long was born icon Jan. 31, 1931, in Lincoln. She moved to Columbus with her family and was a 1948 graduate of Columbus High School. She married Albert A. Provorse Aug. 11, 1950, in Columbus. She moved to Fremont in 1956 and was employed by Fremont Area Medical Center for 17 years until 1991 when she retired.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: her husband; two daughters, Kay (Mrs. Tom) Arens of Omaha and Cindy (Mrs. Scott) Sindel of Lincoln; two sons, Allan (and wife, Paula) Provorse of Omaha and David (and wife, Marcia) Provorse of Topeka, Kan.; a brother, Robert Long of Wahoo; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister and a grandson.

The Rev. Gene Watson will officiate Friday’s service. Visitation will be 3-8 tonight at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church and Fremont Area Medical Center Foundation.

Vernon Wilhelm

Vernon Wilhelm, 64, of Fremont died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at his home.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Fremont.

Kenneth Roby

Kenneth Leroy Roby, 77, of Plattsmouth, formerly of Scribner, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Bishop Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.

Roby was born icon Sept. 26, 1922, in Big Springs. He was raised and went to school at Lewellyn. He was a 1941 graduate of Lewellyn High School. He was involved in ranching in the Sandhills of Nebraska.

He married Ruth Frances Dystensky Dec. 31, 1947, in Fremont. After a year, they moved to West Point, then Webster, then resided at Scribner for 34 years.

They moved to Louisville in 1988 and then in 1993 to Plattsmouth. He worked at Coast to Coast and with his son at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth.

He was owner of Scribner Rendering Service. He was city councilman in Scribner for four years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Plattsmouth, Scribner Masonic Lodge 132 AF &AM, Friendship Chapter 119 Order of Eastern Star in Hooper, Eagles Aerie 365 of Plattsmouth.

Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Frank (and wife, Brigit) Roby of Lincoln and Keith (and wife, Judy) Roby of Plattsmouth; a daughter, Nancy (Mrs. Loren) Marlette of Redfield, S. D.; four sisters, Betty Topaj of Oshkosh, Donna (Mrs. Virgil) Pierce of Ogallala, Della Wolford of Caldwell, Idaho and Frances (Mrs. Bernard) Spencer of Hyannis; seven grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Roby.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Eldred officiating. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Thursday with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. at Roby Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth with Masonic Rites by Plattsmouth Lodge 6 AF & AM at 7 tonight

Pallbearers will be Jon Marlette, Kendall Roby, Amy Bonin, Jameson Roby, Douglas Marlette, Sarah Roby, and Mathew Roby.

The organist will be Sara Fischer. Songs will be “How Great Thou Art” and “The Old Rugged Cross”. Vocal music will be by congregational singing.

A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church.

Marie Townsley

WAHOO — The funeral for Marie Townsley, 93, of Wahoo, formerly of Ulysses, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo.

She died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Saunders County Community Hospital in Wahoo.

Marie Kriz was born icon Jan 23, 1906, in Nimburg. She attended elementary school in Linwood. She married Ernest Prochaska in 1924 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He died May 13, 1933.

She married H. Wayne Townsley March 24, 1934, in Aurora. He died June 6, 1968. She has lived in Wahoo since 1974. While living in Ulysses, she worked as a postal employee.

She worked at Sunderman’s nursing Home in Seward, Frances Gray’s Nursing Home in David City, did housekeeping and cared for the elderly in their homes.

She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church , Altar and Rosary Society and St. Ludmilla Guild, all of Wahoo.

Survivors include: two sons, Ernest (and wife, Helen) Prochaska of Blair and Herbert (and wife, Adrienne) Townsley, Jr. of Ludiwici, Ga.; a daughter, Irma (Mrs. Leonard) Skoda of Wahoo; a brother, Alfred Kriz of Imperial Beach, Calif.; a sister, Erma (Mrs. Jack) Steager of David City; three sisters-in-law, Rosalie Kriz of Lincoln, Norma Kriz of Calif. and Betty Kriz of Florida; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, a grandson, a grandson-in-law, four brothers, and a sister.

The Rev. Rudy Oborny will officiate Friday’s service. Rosaries will be said at 3 and 7 tonight at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo.

Visitation will be after 1 today in the funeral home. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mary Cemetery in Ulysses.

A memorial has been established to St. Wenceslaus Elementary School, Bishop Neumann High School, both in Wahoo, and Immaculate Conception Church in Ulysses.

Loretta Carlson

SCRIBNER — Loretta Carlson, 77, of Scribner died today, Nov. 11, 1999, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point.

Services are pending at Pruss Funeral Home in Wahoo.

Barbara Dillon

Barbara M. Dillon, 89, of Fremont died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Services are pending at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel.
