Mary Huebner, 97

Mary B. Huebner, 97, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at Tiffany Square Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jay Vetter will officiate. Private family burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mrs. Huebner was born icon Sept. 1, 1909, at Alda to Forrest and Evva (Gaskell) Knox.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Huebner, in 1993.

Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters and a son-in-law, LaVonne and Donald Holst and Gayle Pieper, all of Grand Island.

Those also left to cherish her memory are three grandchildren, Doug and Kristin Forsstrom of Lone Tree, Colo., Keith and Pepi Braun of New York City and Chad and Yolanda Pieper of Dannebrog; three great-grandchildren, Shawn Forsstrom, Sara Forsstrom and Margot Braun; three stepgranddaughters and their husbands, Diana and Don Jensen of Virginia, Debb and Murray Thompson of Grand Island and Dede and Doug Roberts of Fullerton; seven stepgreat-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters; a sister-in-law, Ella Pfitzer of Grand Island; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Howard Knox; two sisters, Martha Ellen Primrose and Roberta Stapleton; a son-in-law, Rollin Braun; and a granddaughter, Katherine Braun.

Mrs. Huebner received her education at the Alda School. She married Ed Huebner on May 28, 1927, at Grand Island. They farmed the Huebner Homestead south of Alda all of their married life.

Mary worked at the Cornhusker Ammunition Plant during WWII, painting bombs. She also worked at Northwest High School and later worked and retired from the Interstate Holiday Inn.

Mary was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Valley View Extension Club for many years and was a 4-H leader for several years. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidering and playing cards.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church, Goodwill Industries or donor's choice.

Viola Eacker, 70

BROKEN BOW -- Viola G. Eacker, 70, of Broken Bow died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home at Broken Bow.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Govier Brothers Chapel, with the Rev. Ken Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Broken Bow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with family greeting friends from 6 to 8.

Mrs. Eacker was born icon April 17, 1936, at Broken Bow to Merritt Sr. and Dorothy (Florea) Winchester.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kent.

Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Kenneth Eacker of Broken Bow; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lynn of Sumner; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Rollie Amsberry of Mason City and Karen and Todd Schipporeit of Milburn; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Merritt Jr. and Erma Winchester of Broken Bow and Albert and Gay Winchester of Columbus.

Dwayne Miller, 78

POLK -- Dwayne O. Miller, 78, of Polk died on Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at St. Elizabeth's Health Center in Lincoln.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Baptist Church in Polk, with the Rev. Roger Burke officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Solt Funeral Home in Polk. Burial will be in the Arborville Cemetery near Polk.

Mr. Miller was born icon on May 4, 1927, at Polk to Orlie W. and Garnet R. (Samuels) Miller.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Elaine of Polk; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Miller of Ellensburg, Wash., and Byron and Kim Miller of Polk; and a brother and sister-in-law, Don and Wilma Miller of McAllen, Texas.

Also left to cherish his memory include a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Noel and Virginia Kealiher of York; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Polk High School in 1945. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until being honorably discharged in August of 1946. Dwayne returned to Polk and farmed. On Aug. 22, 1954, Dwayne Miller and Elaine Berg were united in marriage in Lincoln. They made their home near Polk, where they farmed. Dwayne retired in 1989, but continued to help on the farm until his health would no longer allow it.

Dwayne was a member of the Baptist Church in Polk, American Legion Post 160 in Polk, he served on the school board for two terms and was actively involved in the community. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his father, in 1977, a sister, Geraldine Kealiher, in 1989, and his mother, in 1995.

Ronald Mindt, 57

LINCOLN - Ronald Erwin Mindt, 57, of Lincoln died Aug. 17, 2007, at Lincoln.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at United Congregational Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Lonnie Logan will officiate.

There will be no visitation. All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mindt was born icon Feb. 28, 1950, at Holdrege to Erwin and Wanda (Goodwin) Mindt.

Survivors of the immediate family include three sisters and a brother-in-law, Kaye Mindt Long of Grand Island, Cathy Mindt and Russell Knight of Ogallala and Pamela Mindt of Oregon.

Other survivors include a brother of the heart, Phil Bruner of Omaha. He also leaves behind his two cats, Piper and Elliott.

His parents and his beloved dogs, Luke and Zach, preceded him in death.

Ron graduated from Ogallala High School, Valedictorian of the class of '68. He received his BA from UNL in 1976 and his MA in 1978. In 2001, he received an Educational Administration Degree from UNL. He had an endorsement in Special Education and was currently working on his doctorate.

In the late 1970s, Ron helped open a school for the deaf in the Philippines. He was a Special Vocational Needs Counselor at Lincoln Public School from 1975-1979, a Special Education Resource Instructor at Millard Public School from 1979-1981, a Work Experience Instructor in Council Bluffs, Iowa from 1981-1984, an Administrative Assistant: Director of Special Education and Counselor at Underwood Community Schools, Iowa, from 1984-1989, Principal K-12 of Newman Grove Public School from 1989-1991, Transition Coordinator/Special Educator at Seward and Milford Public Schools from 1991-1994, Director of Special Education at Centennial Public School from 1991 until present, and Director of Special Education at Malcolm Public School until 2002. Then he was the Principal of Special Education at Epworth Village Educational Program. He retired on Aug. 11, 2007, in hopes of being one of the first "Surrogate" parents for boys needing assistance in the IEP.

Memorials are suggested to HRC (Human Resource Campaign), The Humane Society, or The United Congregational Church.

Jack Decker Sr., 68

FULLERTON - Jack D. Decker Sr., 68, of Fullerton died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. Larry Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery with military rites.

Mr. Decker was born icon March 19, 1939, at Seminole, Okla., to George and Lavada (Johnson) Decker.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Kathy Decker; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack Jr. and Nancy Decker and James and Kelly Decker, all of Riverside, Calif.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet McDonald and Courtney and Jerome Espiritu, all of Riverside, Calif.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Bonnie Decker of West Sacramento, Calif.

Other survivors include 10 grandchildren.

At the age of 3, he moved with his family to northern California. He graduated from Bellflower High School in Bellflower, Calif.

After high school he enlisted in the Army National Reserve and served for two years.

On Sept. 2, 1962, he married Kathy Harris in Reno, Nev.

Then he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served for four years.

After the service, they resided in Norco, Calif., where he worked at Ameron Pipe Products for 28 years.

In 2005 they moved to Fullerton.

He was a member of the American Legion. He was the district administrator of Little League Baseball for 31 years in Riverside, Calif. He also coached all forms of youth sports.

He enjoyed all music, especially country music; bowling; and camping with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Decker; and four sisters, Mary Black, Louise Kidd and two infant sisters.

Shirley Buck, 72

Shirley Ann Buck, 72, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at St. Francis Skilled Care.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jay Vetter will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Iva Olson, 89

Stromsburg -- Iva Olson, 89, of Stromsburg died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Stromsburg, with the Revs. Dan Spearow and Willis Paul officiating. Burial will be in Stromsburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Olson was born icon Dec. 20, 1917, to Henry and Olga (Swanson) Olson at Stromsburg.

Survivors of the immediate family include a brother and sister-in-law, Conrad and Mildred Olson of Stromsburg; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Erma and William Bradbury, Ruby and Jim Carson and Laura Stone, all of Denver.

Domingo Lucas, 41

Domingo Pablo Lucas, 41, of Grand Island died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at Boone County Health Center, as the result of a drowning accident.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Vincent Parsons officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Guatemala.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Monday at Apfel Funeral Home.

Domingo Pablo Lucas was born icon Oct. 25, 1965, at Santa Eulalia, Heuhuetenango, Guatemala to Pablo de Pablo and Juana Toledo Mateo.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Elva of Grand Island, three daughters, Jacqueline Julissa Pablo Argueta, Rosemery Pablo Argueta, and Karina Pablo Argueta, all at home; his parents of Guatemala; and several brothers and sisters in Guatemala.

Additional survivors include his mother-in-law Reyna Gonzalez of Grand Island.

He grew up in Guatemala and relocated to Miami in 1986. He moved to Grand Island in 1994. He was united in marriage to Elva Argueta Gonzalez in 1997, at Grand Island. He worked at Swift & Company and at Diamond Plastics for nearly 10 years.

He enjoyed being with his children and his family, and playing soccer with friends at George Park in Grand Island.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
