NITA MAY WOOD
Eddyville

Memorial services for Nita May Wood, 88, of Eddyville, will be held Thursday, May 11, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Eddyville. Burial will be in the Arnold Cemetery. Nita died Sunday, May 7, 2000.
She was born Dec. 5, 1911, at Wiessert, Neb., Custer County, to Stanley Bart Scott and Lucinda Ann Shelton Scott. Her father, Stanley, was a telephone man and electrician who moved frequently. She first lived in Broken Bow and Mason City before moving to Erie, Ill., Whiteside County. Nita's parents returned to Custer county around 1914 or 1915.
Nita attended school at Happy Hollow, District 233, Sunny Dale School, District 181, Tappan Valley School, District 75, King School, District 32 and Cooperville Valley School, District 120 in her elementary years while her father was an electrician, installing telephone lines and telephones in Custer County. Nita attended high school at Anselmo Public High School, District 129.
On Oct. 5, 1930, Nita May Scott married Arthur William Wood. After their honeymoon trip to the Black Hills in a Model T Ford, they moved to Redfern Table, approximately 15 miles south of Callaway, on an 800 acre farm, where they lived until March 1967. Then they moved to a smaller farm of 240 acres southwest of Mason City.
Nita stayed on the small farm for several years following the death of her husband in July 1968. She moved to Eddyville in March 1975 and lived there until her death.
Nita was active in the Redfern Table United Brethren Church as well as Redfern Table Ladies Community Club, Grace United Methodist Church of Eddyville and United Methodist Women.
Survivors include: four daughters, Donna L. and Parker Calvin Jr. of Oconto, Wilma A and Reg. Christman, Casper, Wyo., Ardena R. and Gail Nielsen, Wheaton, Ill. and Arlyne K. Smith, Casper, Wyo.; sister, Mary Joy of Ravenna; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Arthur Wood; parents, Stanley and Lucinda Scott and brother, Robert Scott.
Memorials are suggested to Grace United Methodist Church in Eddyville or the American Cancer Society.

KAREN "CARRIE" CHRISTENSEN
Cozad

Funeral services for Karen "Carrie" Christensen, 102, of Cozad were held Monday, May 8, 2000, at St. John's Lutheran Church northeast of Cozad. Burial was in the Cozad Cemetery. Carrie died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at the Callaway Good Samaritan Center.
She was born March 4, 1898, at Cozad to J. Buntzen and Elsie Lorensen Smidt. She attended rural school and graduated from Cozad High School. Carrie attended Kearney State Teacher's College and taught rural schools in Cozad and the surrounding area for many years. On Aug. 31, 1922, she married John Christensen. They made their home on a farmsite northeast of Cozad. She remained on the farmsite after Mr. Christensen's death in 1962. She had made her home at the Elwood and Callaway care homes for the past several years.
Carrie was a long time a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was active in church work.
Survivors include: two daughters, Joan Stevens of Oconto and Mary Peterson of Cozad; daughter-in-law, Sharon Christensen of Cozad; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, John Christensen; son, Edward Christensen; four brothers and five sisters.
Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.

ARTHUR R. FELLERS
Lincoln

Funeral services for Arthur R. Fellers, 83, of Lincoln will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at the Roper and Sons Chapel in Lincoln, with Rev. C. Rex Bevins and Rev. Naomi Hull officiating.
Burial will be in the Lincoln Memorial Park in Lincoln.
He died Saturday, June 23, 2001, in Lincoln.
He was born in Lexington.
Arthur was a retired school counselor. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lincoln, the Retired Teachers Association, American Legion Post 3, TEAMMATES mentoring program, volunteer at the Veterans Administration Hospital and Tabitha, and the Literacy Council.
Survivors include his son, Tim (Dawn) Fellers of Lincoln; a daughter, Cathie Ann (Dwaine) Glathar; five grandchildren; a sister, Florence Lantz of Lexington; and a brother-in-law, Rex Magill of North Platte.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, two brothers and one sister.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lincoln.
Roper and Sons Mortuary in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

LAURA G. STIVERS
Callaway

Funeral services for Laura G. Stivers, 98, of Callaway, were held Monday, May 8, 2000, at the Callaway Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery north of Callaway. Laura died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Callaway Good Samaritan Center.
She was born June 23, 1901, at Callaway to Lafyette and Ida Allington Wilbourn. Laura married Frances Walter Stivers on April 16, 1924, at Smith Center, Kan. The couple farmed near Callaway until 1959 when they moved to a farm in Anselmo. Her husband died in 1968. She remained on the farm until 1988, then returned to Callaway.
Laura was a wonderful neighbor and enjoyed giving a helping hand wherever needed. She loved to have her family come home to visit and spoiled them with homemade jellies and pickles. Laura enjoyed crocheting, embroidery work, crafts, gardening and baking pies.
Survivors include: four sons, John J. and Dorothy Stivers of Callaway, Marvin "Mert" R. and Beverly Stivers of Callaway, Walter Lynn and Sharlene Stivers of Anselmo and Roy Mac Stivers, whereabouts unknown; two daughters, Lorna Gannon, Ridgefarm, Ill. and Frances Fuller of Broken Bow; 15 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Wanda; son, Henry Robert; two grandsons; one great-grandson; four brothers and four sisters.
Memorials are suggested to the Callaway Good Samaritan Center. Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway is in charge of arrangements.

Bradley Lemon

Cozad

Funeral services for Brad Lemmon of Cozad will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April, 12, 1999, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cozad with Rev. Steve Deines officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Brad Lemmon Memorial.
Brad Lemmon, age 56, of Cozad died April 8, 1999 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born February 15, 1943 at Lexington to Dale and Lois (Haynes) Lemmon. Brad attended Lucerne Valley Dist. No. 27 rural school and graduated from Cozad High School in 1961. He attended college at UNL and later graduated from Chadron State College with degrees in Theater Art, History and Geography. He taught school briefly at Torrington, Wyo., before returning to the family farm.
On March 24, 1973, he married Suzie Whitten and they made their home on the farm northwest of Cozad before moving into Cozad in 1989. During his lifetime, he was active in the family farm and feedlot operation.
Brad was baptized in the Presbyterian Church at Gothenburg and later transferred his membership to the First Presbyterian Church in Cozad.
He was a board member of the Cozad Community Scholastic Association and active in promotion of legislative issues concerning farming and ranching. He was a member of the Lionel Train Collectors Club of America and was past Exalted Ruler of the Cozad Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Suzie of Cozad; one daughter, Shannon of Brady; his parents, Dale and Lois of Cozad; a brother Rick and wife Tami of Cozad; his in-laws C.A. and Margaret Whitten of Cozad; two brothers-in-law, Scott Whitten of Cozad and Bruce and wife Nanci Whitten of Lincoln; a niece, Katie Whitten of Cozad; and a nephew, Kevin Lemon of Cozad.
Brad was preceded in death by a nephew.
Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of the arrangement.

BRIAN HUGH BOTTS
Lexington

A memorial service for Brian Hugh Botts, 43, of Lexington, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
The family has chosen cremation. He wanted his body to become a part of the Rockies.
He died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
He was born Aug. 18, 1958, at Colorado Springs, Colo., to Frank and Renee' (Brooks) Botts.
Brian attended grade school in Colorado and high school in Nebraska. He graduated from high school and went on to receive his associate's degree from Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte in mechanical art.
He did many things in life until he found his one passion, computers. He was a computer draftsman by trade, but his great joy was working on them. Setting them up, installing software and hardware. He helped many friends and relatives to become computer literate, especially his mother.
His greatest gift in life was to give of himself and his time. He gave his time to help friends and relatives with computers. He gave of himself to his brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews. He played with them, gave them special nicknames, and babysat. He gave them his love, most of all. He loved the 1960s rock and roll music, collecting beer steins and eagles, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Budweiser beer and the Rocky Mountains and cats and dogs.
He is survived by his parents, Renee' Botts of Lexington and Frank Botts of Fairmont; two brothers, Rian (Traci) Botts of Fulton, Miss., and Kevin Botts of Lexington; two sisters, Marlena (Larry) Wear of Farnam and Phyla (Mike) Hopkins of Exeter; five nephews, Bart Hopkins, Joshua, Trevor and Brandon Barnes and Andrew Botts; one great-nephew, Zachary Barnes; three nephews, Kelly Hopkins, Becky Jo Botts and Nicole Barnes; numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Orville and Beulah Brooks, a niece, Robin Hopkins, and an aunt, Joan Morris.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

DON C. BANZHAF
Eustis

Memorial services for Don C. Banzhaf, 68, of Eustis, will be at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 24, 2001, at the United Methodist Church in Eustis, with Rev. Shirley Carpenter officiating.
Inurnment will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
He died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at a Lincoln Hospital.
He was born Jan. 14, 1933, at Orafino to Dale C. and Ava M. (Metcalf) Banzhaf. He graduated from Stockville High School in 1951.
On Sept. 15, 1951, he married Lavinna Weiss at Trenton. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. They made their home in several Nebraska communities before moving to Eustis in 1957.
He was president of Banzhaf Brothers Inc., working in heavy equipment construction. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He served as director for the Nebraska Land Improvement Contractor's Association and was honored as Contractor of the Year by the association. He had enjoyed collecting heavy equipment toys and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lavinna of Eustis; a son, Doug (Mari) Banzhaf of Eustis; a daughter-in-law, Kaye Banzhaf of Eustis; a brother, Delba (Joanne) Banzhaf of Eustis; a sister, Peg (Bob) Wood of Cambridge; a half-brother, Larry (Darla) Banzhaf of Franklin; his mother-in-law, Dora Weiss of Curtis; five grandchildren, Crystal of Cozad, and Cory, Shawna, Jerud and Kenzie of Eustis; special nieces and nephews, Jeff Banzhaf of Omaha, Debbie Banzhaf and Kira Shada both of Tekamah and Brenda Mullins of Algona, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Randy, and a brother, Joe.
A memorial has been established in his memory.

JUAN PINEDO OCHOA
Lexington

Mass for Juan Pinedo Ochoa, a newborn, of Lexington will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington, with Rev. Don Buhrman officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Lexington.
Visitation will be today, Saturday, Dec. 5, 2001, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
He died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
He was born Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, to Armando and Maricela (Ochoa) Pinedo in Lexington.
He is survived by his parents; one brother, Armando Pinedo; grandparents, Jose Luis Ochoa and Guadalupe Galvan and Bibiano Mendoza and Celia Fregoso, all of Lexington; two uncles, Alejandro Mendoza of Lexington and Jose Luis Ochoa of Mexico; one aunt, Claudia Mendoza and one cousin, Valeria Ochoa, both of Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the Pinedo family.

RILEY T. ALLEN
Sedalia, Mo.

Graveside services for Riley T. Allen, 2 days old, of Sedalia, Mo., were Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sedalia, Mo.
He died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
He was born Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, in Sedalia, Mo., to Chad and Lesley (Casinger) Allen.
He is survived by his parents of Sedalia, Mo.; and grandparents, Robert and Sue Allen of Lexington and David and Debbie Casinger of Ionia, Mo.

DWAYNE L. GREEN
Cozad

Graveside services for Dwayne L. Green, 80, of Cozad will be today, Saturday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
He died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at Cozad.
He was born Nov. 3, 1921, at Leavenworth, Kan., to John and Marie (Brown) Green. He attended school in Chase County and served in the United States Army during World War II.
Following his discharge, Dwayne married Arkilee West of Benkleman. He resided in Cozad, Gothenburg and Lexington and for the past 30 years made his home in Kearney.
He had various jobs during his lifetime, which included manager/buyer for alfalfa mills in Dawson County.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and belonged to the Veterans Clubs of Lexington and Kearney.
He is survived by two sons, Clark (Cindy) Green of Essex, Iowa, and Keith (Joan) Green of Kearney; two brothers, Dick Green of Fountain, Colo., and Clark Green of Fort Morgan, Colo.; a sister, Geraldine Moore of Johnson; and three grandchildren, Sheraton, Julie and Elliot Green.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lyle.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
