Max P. Kunze
Max P. Kunze, 88, of Grand Island died Friday, February 22, 2008, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with a family prayer service at 10:15. The Rev. Royce Rinehart will officiate.

Burial of ashes will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Rose Hill Cemetery at Palmer. Military honors will be provided by the Palmer American Legion.

There will be no visitation. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kunze was born icon Sept. 2, 1919, in Howard County to Paul and Ida (Wagner) Kunze.

Survivors of his immediate family include his wife, Fern; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Alan Wieck of Omaha and Jan and Dennis "Jake" Jakob of Grand Island; a son, Mike Kunze of Grand Island; and a sister, Ella Aschwege of Palmer.

Other survivors are grandchildren, Brian Wieck, Brent Wieck, Jay Jakob, Jon Jakob, Jill Bonczynski and Todd Kunze; four great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandson.

Max was raised on the family farm near Palmer, receiving his education in country school until the eighth grade and graduating from the Palmer High School Class of 1940. He entered the Army Air Corps in 1941 and served in the European Theatre with a bomber crew. He received the air medal, having been on 58 missions. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

Max was united in marriage to Fern Silk on Dec. 26, 1946, at Grand Island. They lived in Palmer for five years before moving to a farm north of Worms, where they farmed for 40 years. They moved to Grand Island in 1991.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW of Grand Island, American Legion of Palmer and the Platt-Duetsche.

His parents, four sisters, Frieda Lautenschlager, Milda Kamper, Helen Bjorklund and Alma Kunze and four brothers, Albert, Walter, Ted, and Reinhardt Kunze, preceded him in death.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Irene Marie Lewandowski

Irene Marie Lewandowski, 79, of Grand Island, died Monday, February 25th at her home.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Abundant Life Christian Center in Grand Island. Reverend Tim Rust will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Irene was born icon October 10, 1928 at Farwell, Nebraska the daughter of Edward and Helen (Czapla) Waltman. She grew up on a family farm near Farwell attending school in Howard County. She was united in marriage to Al Lewandowski on June 28, 1949 at Paplin. They lived in Sargent, St. Paul, and Farwell before moving to Grand Island in 1977. She was a homemaker until 1977. She then was employed at the Lutheran Hospital and then went to work for the school system as a cafeteria worker in 1980 retiring in 1994. The last seven years she was cafeteria manager at Walnut Junior High.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Al, daughters and sons-in-law, Julie Rawlings and her husband Fred Hoppe of Lincoln, Alison and Pat Larson of Grand Island, sons and daughters-in-law, Loren and Barb Lewandowski of Grand Island and Scott Lewandowski and his wife Heather Strait of Lincoln, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Dolores Waltman of Farwell, Larry and Dorothy Waltman of Omaha.and grandchildren, Dustin and Nicole Lewandowski, Kiel Lewandowski, Jordan Rawlings, Ashlee Rawlings, Whitney Rawlings and fiancé Josh Dietrich, Karlie Rawlings, Andrew Rawlings, Hudson Lewandowski, Ethan Larson, Elijah Larson and great grandson Jack Lewandowski.

She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter Lisa Lewandowski.

Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

Mary Liess
Mary Liess, 47, of Grand Island died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Wedgewood Care Center following an illness with ovarian cancer. Mary Liess
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel Bremer will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church. The family will be greeting friends from 8 to 9 p.m. so that Mary's daughter can compete in district track. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Liess was born icon July 29, 1960, at Hastings to Vernon and Phyllis (Seeman) Meyer. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Mark; two sons, Kevin and Aaron, and a daughter, Paige; her parents of Blue Hill; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave and Crickett Meyer and Jim and Danece Meyer, all of Blue Hill; and a sister, Eileen Penrose of Hastings. Additional survivors include nieces and nephews. Mary grew up on a farm near Blue Hill. She received her education at Trinity Lutheran School in Blue Hill and graduated from the Blue Hill High School class of 1978. She received an Executive Secretary Diploma from Lincoln School of Commerce. She married Mark Liess on May 1, 1982, at Blue Hill. They made their home in Grand Island, where she worked at Douglas Bookkeeping for 18 years and Penrose Machining from 1999 until the present. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was active in her children's education at Trinity Lutheran and Heartland Lutheran High School. At Mary's request, in lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church, Heartland Lutheran High School or Trinity Lutheran School.

Harold A. Luebbe
Harold A. Luebbe, 91, of Grand Island died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Luebbe was born icon Nov. 1, 1916, at Grand Island to August and Lillie (Moeller) Luebbe.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Kay Luebbe.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife of 67 years, Irene; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Carolyn Luebbe of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Bob Sander of Holdrege; and a brother, Carl Luebbe of Grand Island.

Those also left to cherish his memory are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

His parents and a brother, Arnold Luebbe, also preceded him in death.

Harold received his education at District 42 School in Merrick County and Grand Island Senior High. On June 15, 1941, he married Irene Vieth at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. He was Secretary-Treasurer of District 32 of Merrick County for many years. They farmed until 1967, when they moved to Grand Island. In 1968, he worked for Chief Industries for 13 years, retiring in 1981. Following his retirement, he worked part time, caring for the trees in the downtown business district.

He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. Harold enjoyed gardening and fishing, and loved to do volunteer work. He was also a member of the Platt-Duetsche and the Eagles.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church.

Charles "Charlie" McBride
Charles 'Charlie' McBride, 81, of Grand Island died Monday, May 26, 2008, at his home with family by his side.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Francis Curran will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a Christian wake service at 7.

All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McBride was born icon Nov. 3, 192, at Indianola to Dale and Mary (Colling) McBride.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Mary; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Fran and Jim Arends, Marilyn McBride, all of Grand Island and Jan and Roger Albertson of Watertown, S.D.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Patty McBride and Ron 'Joe' and Kim McBride, all of Grand Island; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Evelyn and Avery Winters of Indianola and Ruth Schuster of Denver; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Betty McBride of Colorado Springs, Colo., Bob and Velma McBride of McCook and Jim and Ida McBride of Holbrook.

Those also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Rosie and Dennis Fruchtl, Christi and Barry Burrows, J.J. and Kelly Arends, T.J. and Kim Arends, Shellie and Troy Farrell, Dan and Mandy McBride, Doug and Elizabeth McBride, Jasmine and Marcus Williams, Jesse Albertson, Shayanna Albertson, Joel Albertson, Sam Albertson, and Dave and Niki Kirkland; and 18 great-grandchildren.

His parents and a sister, Roberta Randall, preceded him in death.

Charles was raised on a family farm near Indianola. He served in the United States Army from 1945-46 in the Philippines. He married Mary Becker on July 17, 1948, at Indianola. They moved to Grand Island in 1956. Charlie worked for the Agricultural Services in Wood River for 37 years, retiring in 1993.

He is a member of Blessed Sacrament, American Legion and the Eagles. He enjoyed spending time with his family and cooking Sunday morning breakfast for them.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Rosie M. Moeller
Rosie M. Moeller, 78, of Doniphan died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at Wedgewood Care Center.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island.The Rev. Bill Pavuk will officiate. Burial will be in Cedarview Cemetery near Doniphan.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Moeller was born icon Nov. 30, 1929, at Lincoln to Jacob and Marie (Vogel) Heimbuch.

Her husband, Leonard Moeller, preceded her in death on May 20, 1996.

Survivors of the immediate family include a son, Larry Moeller of Doniphan; and a daughter, Connie Blair and her fiance, Jim Moodie of Denver.

Those also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren, Talli Kluender, Stacy Bieck, Jon Moeller and Alicia Blair and a great-grandchild, Aiden Kluender.

In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jacob, Jr. and Virgil.

Rosie was raised in Grand Island, where she graduated from Grand Island Senior High. She married Leonard C. Moeller on Oct. 16, 1949, at Grand Island. They farmed near Doniphan. She also worked at the Doniphan American Legion.

She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church of Grand Island, Eagles Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and she enjoyed playing cards.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Geraldine J. Moye
Geraldine J. Moye, 85, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at the Golden Living Center at Lakeview.

Graveside services will be a 2 p.m. Friday in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Moye was born icon Oct. 6, 1922, at Atlanta to Forrest and Anna (Simpson) Johnston.

Her husband, Milo ÒHowardÓ Moye, preceded her in death in 1991.

Survivors of the immediate family include a son, Rodney Sutton of Grand Island; and a sister, Norma Johnston of Grand Island.

She is also survived by grandsons, Steven and Darren Sutton, both of Grand Island, and great-grandchildren, Alex, Nicole and Haleigh.

In addition to her husband, daughter-in-law, Joyce, sisters, Lucille Johnston and Virginia Bartling and an infant brother, Edward, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Moye was raised in Holdrege graduating from Holdrege High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Milo Moye on Oct. 31, 1952. They lived in Holdrege for many years, moving to California in 1963 and then to Grand Island in 1985.

She enjoyed cleaning and her dog, Pookie.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Hattie Peterson
Hattie Peterson, 92, of Grand Island died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Golden Living Center at Lakeview.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Peterson was born icon Jan. 11, 1916, on a farm near Grand Island to William and Mary (Steinmeier) Niedfelt.

Survivors include nieces, Bernadine McCumber of Wood River, Gwen Detlefsen of Sun City, Ariz., Donna Hulme of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Ila Marie Ryan of Loup City, Elizabeth Gilbert and Frances Ballou, both of Grand Island and Mary Frances; nephews, William Niedfelt and Jon Niedfelt, both of Orange, Calif., Darwin Goehring of Paragould, Ark., and Jimmie Quinn.

Hattie attended District 28 school and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School. She worked at the Vallejo, Calif., hospital for several years as a practical nurse, returning to Grand Island in 1953 to care for her ailing mother. She worked at the Lutheran hospital, and was a caregiver and housekeeper for the prominent Abbot family in Grand Island for several years. She also worked for Platte Valley Construction Company. Hattie enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing and playing bingo and often attended Fonner Park races.

She was united in marriage to Charles ÒFredÓ Peterson on Feb. 14, 1970, in Grand Island. She lost her husband and all her possessions during the tornadoes of June 3, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ilo Smith Antonsen, Sophia Stoltenberg Stafford, Ida Eirick Wake, Linda Goehring Miller, and a little twin Minetta; and by her brothers John, William, Albert, Lawrence ÒPete,Ó Eddy, and little Emil Niedfelt; and a nephew Jerome Niedfelt.

Memorials are suggested to Heartland Lutheran High School.
