Ardelle E. Vang
Ardelle E. Vang, 90, of Grand Island died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. There will be a 10:15 a.m. family prayer service. The Rev. Royce Rinehart will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Mrs. Vang was born icon April 20, 1918, at Minden to Chris and Carrie (Jacobsen) Petersen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Vang; and a daughter, Karen Vang. Survivors of the immediate family include three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Florence Vang of Grand Island, Kendall and Marge Vang of Aurora, Colo., and Randy and Pam Vang of Wichita, Kan.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Larry Wiegert and Patty and Larry Morris, all of Grand Island; a brother and sister-in-law, Delray and Terri Petersen of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and sisters-in-law, Louise Schwartz of Minden and Evelyn Petersen of Cozad. Those also left to cherish her memory are 14 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ann Powers; and four brothers and two sisters. Ardelle grew up in Minden, graduating from Minden High School. She was united in marriage to Harvey Vang on June 2, 1937. Following their marriage they settled in Grand Island. She was employed by the ordnance plant for many years. Ardelle was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bingo, cards, fishing, camping, cooking and spending time with her family. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, Grand Generation Center or the family.

Josephine H. Vasquez
Josephine H. Vasquez, 84, of Grand Island died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the Golden Living Center at Lakeview.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Rene Lopez and Terry Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vasquez was born icon Oct. 9, 1924, at Love Lady, Texas, to Santiago and Guadalupe (Dominguez) Hernandez.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, and infant twins.

Survivors of the immediate family include five daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie and James Benson of Dallas, Mary Williams of Grand Island, Sylvia Vasquez of Grand Prairie, Texas, Jeri and Dennis Hawkes of Grand Island and Lillie and Steve Shottenkirk of Jones, Okla.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Dolly Vasquez and Steve Vasquez, all of Grand Prairie, Texas.

Other survivors are 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Roger Williams.

Josephine was raised in Texas, Arizona and California. She was united in marriage to Ray Vasquez in 1945. They lived in San Jose, Calif., before moving to Grand Island in 1962. She took great pride in caring for her family.

She was a member of the Ebenezer Church. Josephine had a strong faith that she shared with others, including ministering to inmates. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing, crocheting and making quilts.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

"Willie" Wilhelmina A. Wiese
Wilhelmina A. “Willie” Wiese, 87, of Grand Island, died Monday February 18, 2008 at Bickford Cottage.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Reverend Royce Rinehart and Vicar Steven Newton will officiate. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Private family burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Willie was born icon September 28, 1920 at Leigh, NE the daughter of Oscar and Anna (Siebrasse) Hild. She moved to Grand Island when she was fourteen and graduated from Grand Island Senior High, class of 1938. She was united in marriage to Arnold Wiese on February 16, 1941 at Grand Island.

She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving with the Ruth Society, Lutheran Layman League, and Lutheran Women Missionary League and was a past chairperson of the Liederkranz. She enjoyed playing cards and volunteered with her husband at the Nebraska Veterans Home.

Those left to cherish her memory are son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Lois Wiese of Denham Springs, LA, daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Chuck Bluschke of Grand Island and a brother and his wife, Melvin and Betty Hild of Overland Park, KS.

Other survivors are grandchildren, Chad and Michelle Bluschke, Tami and Steve Chandler, Ryan and Paula Wiese, Gretchen and Ryan Brady and great grandchildren, Nolan Wiese, Jolee Wiese, Kayla, Stephanie and Andrew Chandler, Paul and Danielle Curry, Sarah and Megan Bluschke.

In addition to her husband Arnold, who preceded her on November 22, 2003, her parents, brothers Marvin and William Hild and sister Roma Hardekopf also preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran School Foundation and Heartland Lutheran High School.

Charles Lynn Wilson
Charles Lynn Wilson, 74, of Grand Island died Monday, April 28, 2008, at his home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evangelical Free Church. The Rev. Curtis Holzworth will officiate. Cremation will take place following the service. Private family burial of ashes will be in Hampton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Wilson was born icon Jan. 2, 1934, at Bradshaw to Clifford and Myrtle (Misner) Wilson.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Doris; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Lynn Wilson II and his wife, Rose; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janis and John Fredrickson of Schuyler, Michelle Stafford of Central City and Amy and Dustin Javorsky of Sioux City, Iowa, a brother, Steve Wilson of Commerce City, Colo.; and two sisters, Barbara Aker of Anaheim, Calif., and Sandra Carstens of Mills, Wyo.

Other survivors are grandchildren, Sara and Steve White, Michael Stafford, Matthew Stafford, Holly Fredrickson, Jack Fredrickson, Dylan Javorsky, Tyler Javorsky and Payton Javorsky.

His parents, an infant brother, Neal and a brother, William, preceded him in death.

Charles was raised and received his education in Bradshaw and Grand Island. He was united in marriage to Doris Larson on July 7, 1956, at Aurora. They made their home in Grand Island, where he worked as a house painter, worked at St. Francis Medical Center, as a firefighter for the Grand Island Municipal Airport, the Grand Island City Water Department and the City County Health Department where he retired in 1997.

He attended the Evangelical Free Church, enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years and later he enjoyed target shooting.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Howard Bacon

Howard W. Bacon, Jr., 80 of Grand Island died Thursday, January 18, 2007, at home following a brief illness.

Howard BaconServices will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the United Congregational Church in Grand Island. The Reverend Lonnie Logan will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The Grand Island Police Department and the United Veterans Club will provide the honor guard.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Bacon was born icon February 8, 1926 at Grand Island the son of Howard W., Sr. and Kathryn (Noaecker) Bacon.

Survivors are his wife Lorraine, daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Michael Mueller, Judy and Dennis Tjaden and a son David Bacon all of Grand Island and a sister Betty Olson of Omaha.

Those also special to him are grandchildren, Michele Schomer, Tracy Stahlnecker, Heather Burry, Wendi Hughes, Tom Tjaden, Josh Bacon and Michael Mueller, Jr. and great grandchildren, Katilyn Schomer, Jase Stahlnecker, Zachary Stahlnecker, Tyler Martinez, Jonathan Schomer, Johnny Martinez, Jillianne Burry and step great grandchildren, Jonathon Burry, M.J. Lemburg, Jordan Lemburg, and Alexis Lemburg and two soon to be great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His parents and an infant daughter Marcia Bacon preceded him in death.

Howard was raised and received his education in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High. He served in the United States Navy from December 1943 and honorably discharged May 1946 as a 2 nd Class Petty Officer Machinist Mate.

He was united in marriage to Lorraine Stroh on March 24, 1946. They lived all their married life in Grand Island. He worked at Roush Motor’s, the mill at Sothman Lumber Company until joining the Grand Island Police Department on December 1, 1957 as a police officer. He was promoted to Police Captain on June 1, 1966 and worked as shift captain. In September of 1972 he was transferred from the Patrol Division to the Criminal Investigation Division as Captain in charge. On August 13, 1979 he was promoted to Chief of Police. He received recognition for rescuing a life in 1962. He retired from the police department in 1987.

He served on the City Council in April 1956 – April 1957. He was a member of United Congregational Church, serving on many church boards, including chairman of the memorial committee, the American Legion 40 & 8, and the Platt-Duetsche.

Memorials are suggested the Church, Boys Ranch at Alliance or Research and Treatment for Ovarian Cancer.

Louise L. Barg

Louise L. Barg, 88, of Grand Island, died Tuesday March 20, 2007 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Mrs. Barg was cremated. Services will be at a later date. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born icon January 9, 1919 at Miller, Nebraska the daughter of Edmund and Julia (McCartney) Roehrich.

Louise was raised and received her education in Buffalo County. On February 11, 1935 she was united in marriage to Arthur W. Barg at Lexington, NE. They lived at Elm Creek, NE, Beloit, KS, Agra, KS, Wood River, NE and moved to Grand Island in 1988.

While in Agra, KS she owned a restaurant and was a book keeper for Wood River Oil. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Eagles Auxiliary 378. Many of her interests included ceramics, fishing, painting, sewing and spending time with family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Arthur, sons a daughter-in-law, Loren and Vickie Barg of Lincoln and Gary Barg of Minden and a sister Adha Ginevra of Melbourne Beach, Florida and five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Her parents, sisters Peg Wade and Caryle Barnes, a son Charles and a daughter-in-law Katie preceded her in death.

Eli Belmudez

Eli Belmudez, 75, of Grand Island, died Tuesday – January 23, 2007 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Grand Island. The Reverend Don Rodriguez will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Eli was born icon January 24, 2007 at Kearney the son of Jose and Francisca (Castaneda) Belmudez.

Eli was raised and received his education in Kearney. He served in the Nebraska Army National Guard. He was united to Frances Figueroa in 1972. They lived for 5 years in Omaha before making Grand Island their home. Eli was a carpenter by trade.

He was a member of the Templo Cristo La Roca Church in Grand Island. Eli enjoyed gardening, carpentry, and reading and was active in his ministry at the church. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Frances, daughter Lydia Empfield of Lincoln, brothers Steve, Daniel and Tom Belmudez, sisters Esther Guerra, Beatrice Arellano, Freda Hernandez, Rebecca Hadley, Helen Belmudez, two brothers-in-law; Angel Figueroa, Lt. Col. Daniel Figueroa, and grandchildren Cameron, Adyn and Zackariah.

His parents, a brother Joe Belmudez and sisters Ruth Belmudez and Pauline Garxiola preceded him in death.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Arthur "Gene" Boysen

Arthur Eugene “Gene” Boysen, 79, of Grand Island, died Saturday July 21, 2007 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. Burial will be in the Oakridge Cemetery at Dannebrog.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Gene was born icon in Fort Dodge Iowa, July 3rd, 1928 to Lou and Myrna Grace (Stover) Boysen and was raised on the family farm in Havelock Iowa. He lived on the family farm throughout childhood and graduated from Havelock High in 1946. He continued to farm with his parents, and now had a new brother, Gary Lou. He enlisted in the Marine Corps during the Korean War in 1950, serving basic training in San Diego, stationed in North Carolina and Puerto Rico. He was trained to operate heavy equipment, achieving the rank of staff sergeant quickly, then honorably discharged. After the war, he attended Morningside College, Sioux City, Iowa with a bachelors’ degree in Marketing. He and Pat Foley met there during their higher education years; they were joined in marriage on December 27, 1956. He started his career with Caterpillar at their international office in Peoria, Illinois that same year, soon after taking an assignment at the state’s “Cat” dealership, “Lincoln Equipment Company”, in their Grand Island offices.
While at Caterpillar’s Lincoln Nebraska dealership, he was promoted to the sales manager position in the mid 1960s. During this period (1958-1967) he was most proud of his involvement with building Interstate 80 through Nebraska.

In 1967, he returned to Grand Island, starting his own heavy equipment company/corporation called “Gene Boysen and Associates” that he continued to operate throughout the rest of his life with his family, friends and colleagues. He was involved in many ventures surrounding heavy equipment including gravel mining, farming and farm real estate. He developed and land leveled two farms for irrigation in the Dannebrog and Rockville areas in 1978 for part-time farming while continuing in the heavy equipment business as well the remaining years, until his first stroke shortly after the turn of the millennium. He enjoyed the Danish heritage he shared with the Dannebrog area, and considered the farm and Dannebrog a second home. Many times in his latter years he could be found at the local eatery “Harriett’s” at lunch. He was able to slow down more in the later years of his life. He enjoyed the playing with dogs, watching movies, attending his children’s activities, especially his youngest daughter’s fast pitch softball.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Pat Boysen, and four children. His children include Connie Jean Boysen-Portwood of Overland Park Kansas; Mark Michael Boysen of Grand Island; Drs. Lee Ann & Anthony Sementa of Lombard, Illinois and Amy Lu & Kevin Reinke of Gilbert, Arizona, his brother, Gary Lou Boysen and his six grandchildren: Gina, Luci, Erin, Spencer, Teresa Ann, and Kaden.

His parents preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Dannebrog Community Center or Alcoholics Anonymous.
