William O."Bill" Hardekopf
William O. “Bill” Hardekopf, 86, of Grand Island died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Grand Island Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 13, at First Christian Church in Grand Island. The Reverend George Wheat and Mike Bremer will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Bill was born icon May 24, 1921, at Ord, NE, to Herman and Mildred (Ruhl) Hardekopf. He was raised and received his education in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High. He entered the United States Army on November 5, 1942, serving during World War II. He was honorably discharged on December 29, 1945, at Ft. Logan, CO.

On December 21, 1941, Bill was united in marriage to Mildred Kelly, who died October 8, 1990. On August 15, 1992, he was united in marriage to Margaret Wicht. He was employed with Sutters Dairy and Beatrice Foods for 43 years. He was a member of First Christian Church, Platt Duetsche Society and American Legion.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margaret; children and their spouses Carol and Bud Sems of Sun City, AZ, Tom and Cindy Hardekopf of Kearney and Jane and Jerry Bremer of Grand Island; stepchildren and their spouses Peg and Jim Stulken of Doniphan, Patricia and Dan Rainforth of Doniphan, Stan and Jana Pokorney of Charlotte, NC., six grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and eleven step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred (Kelly); his parents; and two brothers, Earl Hardekopf and Roland Hardekopf.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or donor’s choice.

Margaret E. Harlow

Margaret E. Harlow 83, of Grand Island, died Sunday – January 21, 2007 at Beverly Health Care at Lakeview.

Margaret E. HarlowServices will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. Cremation will take place following the service with burial of ashes in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harlow was born icon September 22, 1923 at Clarks, NE the daughter of Harvey and Mary (Morgan) Kingsley. As young girl she lived at Cabool, MO for a short while, before finally settling in Denman, NE. She went on to gather several academic honors including – high school diploma from Lincoln East, Licensed Cosmetologist, and Secretarial/Accounting from Grand Island Community College.

During her lifetime she became an amateur poet. She wrote a newsletter for a local nursing home. She owned and operated The Stylette Beauty Shop. She also joined many organizations. They included Trinity United Methodist Church, La Grande Toastmistress Club, DeMolay Mothers Circle, Nebraska Arts Poetry Society, Professional Business Women’s Club and Grand Islands Women’s Club and Ladies Auxiliary.

Those left to cherish her memory are a son and daughter-in-law, Harold Jr. and Betty Harlow of Omaha, a daughter and son-in-law Charlene and Unal Alici of Shelton, a brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Norma Jean Kingsley of Aurora, NE, a sister-in-law Glenna Kingsley of Grand Island and a sister Rosemary Wilson of Arizona, and four grandchildren, Thad Harlow, Ebru Zacarias, Fatma and Mustafa Alici.

Her husband Harold Harlow, Sr., two brothers Clyde and Don Kingsley, a sister Frances Kingsley Buell, an infant daughter Mary Margaret, a niece Rosemary Kingsley and a grandson Chad Harlow preceded her in death.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church.

Robert L. Hazen
Robert L. Hazen, 85, of Grand Island, died Friday March 23, 2007 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Stolley Park Church of Christ. The Pastor Jerry Bady will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island, NE.

Robert was born icon May 26, 1921 in Plymouth County, Iowa the son of Louis and Deborah (Means) Hazen. He was raised on a family farm in Iowa. He attended Marcus, Iowa community schools where he graduated from high school. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Robert was united in marriage to Marcellinda Schuver on February 20, 1950. They farmed near Remsen, IA and moved to Grand Island in 1978. He then worked with his brother Philip in construction.

Robert was a member of Stolley Park Church of Christ having a strong devotion to church and evangelism. He enjoyed woodworking and framing.

His wife preceded him in death on January 2, 1990.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children and their spouses, Linda and Mike Venaglia of Maple Grove, MN, Bob Hazen, Jr. of Grand Island, NE, Kris and Jim Wilbershide of Minneapolis, MN, and Brad and Rose Mary Hazen of Valley Springs, CA, one brother Kermit Hazen of Cherokee, IA and three sisters, Janet Whitworth of Wichita, KS, Connie Malloy of Sioux City, IA, Gertrude Mitchell of Sioux City, IA,.grandchildren, Justin Hazen, Todd Hazen and Jay Beringer, Kristine Venaglia, Holly Hazen and Marcilyn Hazen, a great granddaughter, nieces and nephews and his church family.

In addition to his wife, his parents and seven brothers and sisters, Maurice, Wayne, Vernon, Ruth, Grace, Harriet and Philip preceded him in death.

Memorials are suggested to Stolley Park Church of Christ in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Morgan Brooke Hohnbaum
Morgan Brooke Hohnbaum, 18, of Grand Island, 2006 graduate of Centura High School, died Sunday June 10, 2007 in Lincoln.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. The Reverend
Jay Vetter will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Morgan was born icon July 23, 1988 at Phoenix, Arizona the daughter of Thomas and Pamela (O’Hara) Hohnbaum. She was raised in Dannebrog attending school at Centura. She was a cheerleader and was on the girl’s golf team. She graduated with the class of 2006. She was living in Lincoln attending Southeast Community College.

Those left to cherish her memory are her parents of Grand Island, sisters, Whitney Hohnbaum of Kearney, Chris Niroomand of Omaha and Kristi Rice of Firth, grandparents Jack and DeAnne O’Hara of Grand Island, nephews Ethyn and Jadyn and niece Allisyn and uncles, aunts and cousins.

Her grandparents Dean and Ellener Hohnbaum preceded her in death.

A memorial fund will be established in memory of Morgan.

Stanley D. Jurgensen

Stanley D. Jurgensen, 51, of Grand Island, died Tuesday February 6, 2007 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Terry Brown will officiate.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Stan was born icon August 21, 1955 to Dan and Catherine Shirley (Harsch) Jurgensen in McCook, NE. He attended schools in McCook and Grand Island, graduating form Northwest High School in 1973. He married Miriam Crawford on May 23, 1981.

Stan was employed at Case New Holland. He was a member of Assembly of God churches in McCook and Grand Island, and later New Life Community Church where he played the drums and sang in the choir. During his life, he played drums in several Christian bands.

Stan enjoyed football, playing basketball, golf and ping pong. Most of all he enjoyed his time with his children.

Survivors are daughters and son-in-law Alycia and Matt Purdie, Chelsy Jurgensen and son Luke Jurgensen, a sister and brother-in-law Heidi and Jon Watson and a nephew Damon Watson.

His parents preceded him in death.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Dolores "Dudie" F. Kawata

Dolores “Dudie” F. Kawata, 79, of Grand Island, died Monday, March 19, 2007 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. Reverend Nancy Lambert will officiate. Burial will be 3:00 p.m. Friday in the Ord Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island.

Dudie was born icon January 31, 1928 at Ord, Nebraska the daughter of Bert and Ida (Dawe) Hurlbert. She was raised and received her education in Ord. On December 17, 1943 she was united in marriage to Jiro “Joe” Kawata. They lived in Ord before moving to Grand Island in 1954. She was employed in the family owned Nebraska Engraving Company, the CAAP for 8 years and worked in the Printing Industry and as a receptionist in hair styling salons.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter and son-in-law, Cathlyn and Ron Christensen of Grand Island, sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Ann Kawata of Broken Bow, James Kawata of Grand Island and David Kawata of Greeley, Colorado, brother Leonard Hurlbert of Lincoln, a sister Evelyn Paddock of Ord, NE., ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Her husband Jiro “Joe” Kawata preceded her in death on April 18, 1989 and brothers Loyal, Larry, Ray and Dudley and an infant brother and sister preceded her in death.

Memorials are suggested to family or donor’s choice.

Charles "Chuck" L. Krueger

“Chuck” Charles L. Krueger, 72, of Grand Island, formerly of Buena Vista, Colorado died Monday, February 19, 2007 at the Grand Island Nebraska Veterans Home.

Memorials services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Reverends William Voelker and Michael Reiners will officiate.

Mr. Krueger was cremated. All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Krueger was born icon December 10, 1934 at Washington, Kansas the son of Fredrick and Gladys (Good) Krueger. Chuck was raised and received his education in Harrington, Kansas graduating from high school in 1952. He attended Emporia College and served in the National Guard for three years before entering the United States Air Force in 1955. He retired from the military in 1978.

He married Joyce Martens Worley on March 19, 1988. They lived in Beatty, Nevada before making their home in Buena Vista, Colorado. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Chemical Enterprises for 8 years, and Ford Aerospace at Beatty, NV for 8 years. From Buena Vista they moved to Grand Island in 2006.

Chuck was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and the NRA. He enjoyed the outdoors including down hill skiing, fishing, mountain hiking, and gardening and loved building model ships.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Joyce, children, Lisa Krueger and Don Cox of Hastings, NE, Terri Kothe of Longmont, CO, Angie and Kirby Knight of Grand Island, Joan and Randy Crysel of Slidell, LA and Robb and Angie Worley of Hastings, NE, a brother and sister-in-law Donald and Barbara Krueger of Smithville, MO, a sister LaVeta Zhantial of Shawnee, Kansas, sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

His parents, brother Fred and sister Patricia preceded him in death.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Veneta Kuhlman
Veneta Kuhlman, 101, of Grand Island, Nebraska, formerly of Loudonville, Ohio, died Tuesday April 24, 2007 at Park Place Nursing Center in Grand Island.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island.

The Reverend Robert Harms will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday.

Additional services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday-May 1, 2007 at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, Ohio. Burial will be in the Loudonville Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services. The Reverend Terry E. Ruther will officiate.

Mrs. Kuhlman was born icon September 2, 1905 at Loudonville the daughter of Lozene and Hettie (Workman) Zimmerman.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Dave and Marcia Kuhlman of Grand Island.

Additional survivors are granddaughters Andrea and Alicia Kuhlman.

She was raised and received her education in Loudonville where she graduated from high school. She attended Kent State University receiving her Teaching Certificate and received her Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University.

She was united in marriage to Paul Kuhlman in 1928. Veneta taught school in Ohio and Michigan.

She moved to Grand Island in 2001 to be close to her family. Veneta was of the Lutheran faith.

Her husband, a son John and daughter Miriam preceded her in death.

Memorials are suggested to the National Cystic Fibroses Foundation in memory of Veneta’s daughter Miriam and a niece Debbie Reynolds.
