Julie Marie Lutt

Julie Marie Lutt, 44, of Grand Island died Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, NE.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel. Father Mark Maresh will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Julie was born icon September 8, 1964, in Grand Island, the daughter of Raymond and Caroline (Adam) Badsteen.

Survivors of her immediate family include her husband, Joel D. Lutt; her sons, James Williams and fiancée Sarah Hongsermeier, Benjamin Lutt and fiancée Crystal Beck and Samuel Lutt; her daughter, Jessica Lutt and two sisters, Angela Badsteen and Michelle Hellbusch all of Grand Island.

Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Kaiden Williams, Maxwell Lutt, Tiah Lutt and Jadyn Lutt; a niece, Mallory Hellbusch and Julie’s special friends and co-workers at I-80 Sinclair Station.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lisa Badsteen, November 2008.

Julie grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High, Class of 1982. She received an Associate Degree in Data Processing from Central Community College. Julie was married to Joel Lutt on August 26, 1996 in Grand Island. She was employed by Cabela’s for 10 years and was currently employed by I-80 Sinclair Station.

It was important to Julie that she was good mother, wife and employee. A loyal friend, she was loving and giving. Julie was a homebody, loved to read, go camping, and adored her grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to her family.

Leslie Diane Hansen-Maslowski
Leslie Diane Hansen-Maslowski, 52, of Grand Island, died Tuesday May 12, 2009 at Wedgewood Nursing Center following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Reverend Todd Philipsen will officiate.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place.

Ms. Maslowski was born icon June 4, 1956 at Grand Island the daughter of Robert and Leola (Miller) Hansen.

Survivors include a son, Andrew Maslowski of Masco, Idaho; her mother Leola Hansen of Grand Island; sisters and brother-in-law, Konnie Hansen Tims of Coppell, TX and Kristine and Roger Lechner of Columbus and brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Barbara Hansen of Maurice, LA.

Other survivors are nephews and a niece, Carter Tims, Alexandra Lechner and Spencer Lechner and a great nephew, Blake Lechner. Her father Robert Hansen preceded her in death.

Leslie was raised at St. Libory, graduating from Northwest High School, class of 1974. She attended Kearney State College. She was united in marriage to Mike Maslowski in 1983. They lived in Denver where she worked for the BWAB Oil Company and later she returned to the Grand Island area in 2005.

She enjoyed cross country skiing, snowmobiling, cooking and baking. She loved watching movies.

"Mike" Michael J. McClaren

“Mike” Michael J. McClaren, 43, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 as the result of an accident near Sterling, Colorado.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Evangelical Free Church, 2609 S. Blaine Street. The Reverend Gary Schulte will officiate. Cremation will take place following the service with his ashes buried in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home. There will be a Catholic Rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday also at the funeral home with the Reverend Richard L. Piontkowski leading.

Mr. McClaren was born icon July 8, 1965 at Omaha. He was adopted as an infant by James and Margaret (Malone) McClaren.

Survivors are his wife, Shanda; two sons, Chase and Tanner, both living at home; his mother, Margaret McClaren of Grand Island and sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Larry Hicks of Creston, IA.

Other survivors are his biological mother, Carla Beardmore-Harding of Omaha; biological brother, Christian Harding of Scottsdale, Arizona and biological sister, Maria Harding of Omaha; his wife’s parents, Sandy and William Lawrey of Grand Island and Robert and Ruth Wobig of Gering, NE; brother-in-law and his wife, Aaron and Tammie Wobig of Grand Island; brother-in-law, Bill Lawrey, Jr. of Grand Island; sisters-in-law, Sara and Katie Wobig of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Josh Wobig of Gillette, Wyoming; uncle and aunt, Frank and Roselee Siegler of Minnesota and cousins, Chris Siegler, Susan Siegler, William Siegler, Margaret Mills and Mary Siegler. His father James McClaren preceded him in death.

Mike was raised in Grand Island where he graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1983. He then graduated from Chadron State College in 1987. Mike was a two time state champion wrestler for Central Catholic. He also wrestled at Chadron State and ran track and cross country.

He was united in marriage to Shanda Wobig on December 13, 1991. He owned and operated M&S Flooring. Mike loved to run, bicycle, woodwork, he was an avid photographer and had a real talent for art. Mike helped coach wrestling at Northwest High School, Barr Middle School and Grand Island Senior High. He was very active in his sons’ activities. He was their “greatest fan”.

Because Mike was a jeans and T-shirt kind of guy, everyone is invited to wear Islander/Central Catholic attire to the service.

Mike was a friend to everyone he met. His love for life and those around him will be cherished forever.

Memorials are suggested to a college fund for Chase and Tanner.

Vera Pauline McIntosh
Vera Pauline McIntosh, 53, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, July 15th at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2009 at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 19th from 4 to 7 p.m.

Vera was born icon November 8, 1955, the daughter of Alvin and Eunice Ann (Kranau) Wescoat in Hastings, NE.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Lonnie “Worm” McIntosh of Grand Island; a son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Jayme Wescoat of Cozad, NE; a daughter, Victoria Stephens of Grand Island; three stepchildren, Shane McIntosh and his fiancée, Brandy Cassell of Kenesaw, NE, Jenny George and her husband Charles of Minden, NE and Misty McIntosh of Central City; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Merlin Thaden of Lexington, NE and brother, David Wescoat of Alda, NE.

Vera is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Vera was baptized on April 8, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings. She was later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington on May 17, 1970. She graduated from Lexington Senior High School, class of 1975. She was united in marriage to Lonnie (Worm) McIntosh on June 26, 1999 at Loup City, NE with their biker friends.

Vera was employed by Monroe at Cozad, Godfather Pizza, Dugdall Meat Packing and Swift Meat Packing.

Vera loved to ride motorcycles and to help those in need. She gave of herself to raise money for the Crisis Center, Abate District 8, and Staff for Santa, Veteran’s Home Bus Fund, Hope Harbor, and Christmas Cheer along with various other organizations. She especially enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, family members and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

Mariyn J. Mihm

Marilyn J. Mihm, 77, of Grand Island, NE, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul, NE, surrounded by her family.

Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Colleen O’Neill will preside. Inurnment will follow at Grand Island City Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be one hour before prior to the service.

Marilyn was born icon November 28, 1931, at Beatrice, NE, the daughter of George and Mae (Ritchey) Phelps.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Sherri and Randy Hiatt of Grand Island, Sandy and Ken Kendall of Grand Island, Jeff and Kim Mihm of Rapid City, SD and Paul Mihm of Omaha.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Matt, Delee, Beth, Cindy, Cory, Andrew, Nathan and Tyler; eight great grandchildren, Dakota, Landen, Jace, Riley, Kelsey, Amanda, Kane and Haley; and joyfully anticipated the birth of a new grandson and great grandchild.

Marilyn grew up in Hastings, graduating from Hastings High School, class of 1949. She was united in marriage to James Frederick Mihm on October 24, 1949 at Hastings. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Grand Island. Marilyn worked in the lunchroom at Jefferson Elementary for several years. She stayed at home to raise her family. She and James opened their home and hearts to foster children.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James in 1973; two brothers, Melvin and Bob Phelps; and two sisters, Evelynmae Craft and Beverly Hoffman.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and loved to crochet. Her family was very important.

Memorials are suggested to the family to put towards a bench, in Marilyn’s name, at Heritage Living Center or to Nebraska Children’s Home.

Harold (Oscar) Nielsen
Harold (Oscar) Nielsen, 62, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, 4190 W. Capital Avenue. The Reverend Beverly Hieb will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Nielsen was born icon September 28, 1946 at Litchfield, NE the son of Harold H. and Dorothy (Senff) Nielsen.

Survivors are his wife, Dianna; daughters, Angela Trejo of Cleburne, TX, Alecia and her husband Jared Kimbrough of Lincoln, NE and Allyson Nielsen and her special friend Lorin Dagel of Lincoln, NE; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alberta Grayek of Gibbon, Alice and Ernie Mars of Moore, OK and Doris and Vlassy Patsios of Grand Island.

Those also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Justina Breazier, Nicholas Nielsen, Marcos Mendez, Riley Kimbrough and Jace Kimbrough.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Hilda Nielsen, Erma O’Donnel and Elaine Uckert.

Oscar was raised in Gibbon, Cheyenne, WY and Kearney, graduating from Kearney High School, class of 1965. He served in the United States Army on 1965-1969. He attended Hastings Community College.

On September 6, 1969 he was united in marriage to Dianna Denman in Grand Island. They made Grand Island their home where he worked for Speltz-Schultz Lumber Company for 25 years. He then went to work for Telephone Systems of Nebraska.

Oscar is a member of First United Methodist, the VFW and the Platt-Duetsche. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed Husker Football, hunting and fishing. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

A memorial fund will be established in his memory.

Collen Marie O'Brien

Colleen Marie O’Brien, 47, of Grand Island, formerly of Omaha, died January 10, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Committal service and burial of her ashes will be on June 20 th, 2009 in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Omaha, NE.

There will be no visitation. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Colleen was born icon on September 11, 1961 in Omaha, the daughter of Robert and Patricia Jo (Lee) O’Brien.

Survivors are her father and his wife, Robert and Betty O’Brien; her twin sister, Maureen O’Brien, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Tammy O’Brien, Tim and Lori O’Brien, Daniel and Jennifer O’Brien, and Peter O’Brien; and her sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Tom DeBuse.

Other survivors include her many nieces, nephews and good friends, including Don Marshall, Monte Hanson, Connie O’Brien, Lori and Brian McMahon and Mary Meyer.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Patricia O’Brien.

Colleen grew up in Omaha, attending Mercy High School “Class of 1980”. She moved to Grand Island in 1996. Colleen will be lovingly remembered for her generosity, her wonderful smile and never failing sense of humor. Colleen’s kind and loving spirit inspired what was lasting and real in all those she has touched. She was a special gift to this world. She was loved deeply by many and will be missed. Her love will be forever in the hearts of all those who knew her.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, NE.
