Carolyn Jean (Koch) Cox

Carolyn Jean (Koch) Cox, 64, of Grand Island, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 at home with family at her side.

A memorial service is will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.

Mrs. Cox was born icon on September 25, 1946, at Lexington, NE, the daughter of Wayne and Doris (Buckley) Koch.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband; daughter, Brenda Hayes of Grand Island; sons Kelly Aden of Lincoln, Joel and Kim Aden of Grand Island; sisters Donna Zigler of St. Paul, NE and Kathy Lahm of Lincoln.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Amanda Aden, Jessica Aden, Abbie Hayes, Sarah Aden, Logan Hayes, Adam Hayes, Jarin Aden, Kendell Aden, and Kamden Aden; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carolyn grew up in Cozad, NE, and graduated from Cozad High School. She was united in marriage to George Cox, July 2 of 2001. Carolyn was a LPN in the nursing profession and loved working with the elderly.

She was a member of the Cozad Church of Christ.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Bette Ann Snyder
Bette Ann Snyder, 69, of Alda, died Sunday August 12, 2007 at St. Francis Skilled Care.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Reverend Baek will officiate. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery at Ravenna.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Bette was born icon March 18, 1938 at Lincoln, NE the daughter of Jack and Frances (Pokorney) Alderson. She was raised and received her education in the Ravenna and Grand Island area. She married Darwin Risden June 9, 1954 and later married Max Snyder on June 10, 1983.

She was employed by the Veterans Home, St. Francis Home Health, St. Francis Skilled Care and Sam’s Club.

She is a member of the Alda United Methodist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses; Ronda and Robert Sealock of Hastings, David and Kristine Risden of Crestline, CA, Diane and Albert DeLeon of Grand Island, Linda and Donny Moffatt of York, and Donna and Aaron Jones of Alliance, stepchildren and their spouses; Mike and Verna Snyder of Camp Verde, AZ, Marcia and Jim Chambers of Ft. Collins, CO, Pam Huble of Grand Island, Cris and Mike McElroy of Grand Island, and Bill Snyder of Arnold, a twin brother Robert Alderson of Grand Island, a brother Joe Shay of Palmyra, her sister Linda Thompson of Alda, 29 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Her husband Max, a son Darwin John Risden, Jr., great granddaughter Raine and parents Frances and Joe Shay and Jack Alderson preceded her in death.

Memorials are suggested to either Alda United Methodist Church or St. Francis Hospice.

F. Willard Scobie

F. Willard Scobie, 75, of Grand Island, died Monday, August 17, 2009.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. The Reverend Jay Vetter will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Scobie was born icon September 5, 1933 at Giltner, NE the son of Forest and Tola (Shepard) Scobie.

Survivors are his wife Lou and daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Scott Heady of Leawood, KS and Lisa and John Nitecki of Rushford, MN.

Those also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Stephanie, Daniel and Christopher Heady and Jacob, Hannah and Phillip Nitecki; special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His parents, stepmother, Doris Flowerday Scobie and an infant brother preceded him in death.

Willard was raised on a family farm near Giltner. He graduated from Giltner High School, class of 1951. On May 8, 1960 he was united in marriage to Lou Ella Thiessen. They lived in Hastings for one year where he worked for Hastings Grain Inspection before moving to Grand Island and running the Grand Island office for forty years.

He is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Willard enjoyed playing golf, husker football; was a sports enthusiast and loved following his daughters activities. His memory will be treasured by many.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Parkinson Disease Association.

Susan R. Aguilar

Susan R. Aguilar, 62 of Grand Island, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at her home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon till service time on Tuesday.

Ms. Aguilar was born icon October 1, 1949 at Grand Island to Errol and Loretta (Michalski) Finley.

Survivors are her children, Ronald Aguilar of Grand Island, Ramona Aguilar of Grand Island, Kathy Sanchez and Renee Aguilar of Norfolk, VA; her mother, Loretta Finley of Beatrice; s isters and brothers-in-law, Linda & Ray McCall of Beatrice, Pat and Doyle Spitzer of Burton, TX, Kathy and Mike Stout of Oklahoma City, OK, Pam and Bruce Potts of Mesa, AZ.; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Marlene Findley of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins. She was preceded in death by her father.

Susan was raised and received her education at Grand Island. She was united in marriage to Richard Aguilar. She worked at Sutter Deli until she retired due to ill health. Susan loved spending time with family. She liked playing card games, playing bingo, watching TV and visiting friends and relatives. Before she retired, she worked for several cleaning companies both in Davenport, Iowa and Norfolk, Virginia areas.

Arno Robert 'Abie' Ahrens

Arno Robert ‘Abie’ Ahrens, 84, of Grand Island, was called home to rest on Friday, April 6, 2012 from the Grand Island Veterans Home.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Reverend Bill Pavuk will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and Grand Island Veterans Honor Guard.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

Arno was born icon May 18, 1927, on a farmstead east of Ravenna in Buffalo County to Arno Oskar Otto and Myrtle (Hughes) Ahrens.

Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Deborah Ahrens of Grand Island; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Susan Ahrens of Grand Island and Dana and Christine Ahrens of Colorado.

He is also survived by six grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Heather Ahrens, Zachary Ahrens, Rachel Ahrens and her fiancé Mike Mofitt, all of Lincoln, Ian Ahrens of Grand Island, Mason Ahrens and Ashley and Scottie Nelson of Texas; a great grandson, Matthew; and three sisters-in-law, Nathie Ahrens, Lorraine Peters and Roberta Hughes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents; brothers, Keith Hughes and Allen Ahrens; sister, Daisy Furtak; brothers-in-law, Ray Furtak and Dale Peters; and sister-in-law, Betty Olsen.

Abie attend school in Ravenna, graduating with the Class of 1946. He was inducted in the United States Marine Corps and served during WWII. After his discharge, he worked on the Burlington Railroad.

Arno was united in marriage to Shirley Mae Peters on May 22, 1948 at St Pauls Lutheran Church at Hastings. They made their home in Grand Island, where he was employed with Western Electric Co. He began his service in the retail industry at Wolbach’s Department Store, moving to Sears Roebuck and Co., retiring with more than 40 years of service.

Arno was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grand Island, serving as an Usher, Communion Deacon and Boy Scout leader for many years. He was a past member of the Eagles and the Grand Island Saddle Club and was a member of American Legion Post 53.

He enjoyed playing any type of cards and fishing, spending many years fishing with his wife at their home at Sherman Dam. His favorite highlights included the fishing trips to Rainbow Lake in Canada with his brothers and brothers-in-law. Abie always said that if he ever won the lottery, he would make sure Stuhr Museum’s Railroad Town would have a real working train.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Central Nebaraska Humane Society or National Parkinson Foundation.

Jeffrey Jerome Ambroz

Jeffrey Jerome Ambroz, II of Grand Island, died Monday, October 01, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Celebration services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Reverend Joseph Joseph will officiate. Burial of ashes will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. To honor Jeffrey’s wishes cremation has taken place. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.

Mr. Ambroz was born icon April 22, 1979 at Grand Island the son of Jeffrey J. Ambroz and Holly Pedrosa.

Survivors are his wife, Gina; children, Dalton and Lexi Ambroz; his mother Holly Pedrosa of Grand Island; his father Jeffrey Ambroz of Winside, NE; brothers, Jacob Ambroz and Joseph Pedrosa both of Grand Island; his in-laws, Jan and Ed Sittler of Grand Island; sister-in-law and her husband, Rebecca and Andrew Schrock of Long Beach, CA; grandparents, Jerome (Poppy) Ambroz of Grand Island and Louis and Mary Pedrosa of Grand Island and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Marilyn Ambroz.

Jeffrey was raised in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High, class of 1997. He earned his CNA and Medical Assistant Certificates.

He was united in marriage to Regina Sittler on July 3, 2004 at Grand Island. They made Grand Island their home. Jeffrey enjoyed classic cars and car shows. He was the proud owner of a 1964 Chevy Impala SS. Most of all Jeffrey enjoyed his family.

A memorial fund will be established in his memory.

Alan J. Arnold

Alan J. Arnold, 87, of Phillips died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at his home with his family at his side.

Alan was born icon May 5, 1925, at American Falls, Idaho, the son of William and Beatrice (Berdan) Arnold.

Celebration Of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church in Grand Island. Reverend John Hayes will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in Madison Cemetery, Madison, Nebraska. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joann; children, Clifton (Laurie) Arnold of Littleton, Colorado, Lillian (Craig) Baker of Juniata, Sharon Arnold of Phillips and Laura (Arnold/Schmidt) Tindall of Phillips, and an honorary daughter, Jeana Mae Bryant of Omaha; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Edward (Linda) Peterson of Norfolk, nephews: Mike (Doris) Peterson and their children of Hoskins, and Mark Peterson and his daughters of Norfolk; Mother-in-law Lillian Peterson of Norfolk; nieces: Carolyn Thometz, Donna Oats, Nora Wolski, Joyce Arthur, Ann Adair and nephews: James “Freddy“ Hambleton and Robert “Bobby“ Nix.

He is also survived by two grandchildren, Danielle (Schmidt) Keilig and her husband Travis of Saint Edward, and Clifton Arnold of Littleton, Colorado; honorary grandchild, Porsha Butler of Omaha; two great-grandchildren, Kaytlin and James Keilig of Saint Edward, and honorary great-grandson, Tajai Graves of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and father-in-law.

Alan grew up in California. He received his education in Madera, CA, graduating from Madera Union High School, Class of 1939. He attended California Maritime Academy for two years. Alan entered the United States Navy on December 21, 1941 and was honorably discharged on June 1, 1953. He served in WWII and Korea as a Seabee.

On June 17, 1956, Alan was united in marriage to Joann Lee Peterson in Madison, Nebraska. Alan lived in Elmwood, Nebraska for 32 years and was employed as a Stationary Engineer at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln for 27 years. They made the move to Phillips in 2002.

Alan was an avid reader and a word search puzzle enthusiast. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, cooking shows and ‘John Wayne’ movies. He will be remembered for his stories and ‘yarns’. Alan’s animals were special to him, but his family always came first.
