Linda 'Susan' Cassidy

Linda ‘Susan’ Cassidy, 67, of Grand Island died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, with her family at her side.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 29 th at Piccadilly Square Apartments Clubhouse. A living memorial will be planted on the grounds in honor of Susan’s memory after which her friends and family invite you to attend a gathering to celebrate Susan’s life.

All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.

Susan was born icon January 6, 1945 in El Paso, Texas, the daughter of Neal and Linda (Lackey) Ford.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Thomas Cassidy; daughter, Melissa Gourley of Joliet, Illinois and son, Andrew Cassidy of Niceville, Florida.

She is also survived by three grandchildren, Sarah Nina, Kathryn Renae and Taylor Barbara Virginia and two great grandchildren, Lilyana and Lucille.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her Granny Nina Alters.

Susan was united in marriage to Tom Cassidy on May 31, 1971.

She was currently employed as manager at Piccadilly Square Apartments and previously was floral manager for USave Grocery Store. Susan’s green thumb and kind heart have touched so many lives. She will be missed immensely.

Memorials are suggested to a Memorial Garden Fund at Piccadilly Square Apartments of Grand Island.

Edward E. Clark

Edward E. Clark of Grand Island died Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Grand Island Veterans Administration Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer with his loving family by his side.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Caroline Price-Gibson will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery with honors provided by the United Veteran Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Clark was born icon October 3, 1938 at Beatrice, NE the son of Sharp and Martha ( Davis) Clark.

Survivors include his wife, Leah; children and their spouses, Lori and John Athen of Wood River, Janet and Kent Hartmann of Wood River and Jason and Krista Clark of Grand Island and a sister, Bonnie Clark of Beatrice, NE.

Those also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren and their spouses, Rebecca and Chance Miles, Jake Athen and his fiancée Trudy, Carlie Athen, Nathan and Miranda Hartmann, Justin Hartmann, Raegan Hartmann, Kyle Clark and Kendra Clark and great-grandson, Wyatt Athen.

He was welcomed into heaven by his parents; brother, Robert Clark and sisters, Jeannie Clark and Dorie Dittmer.

Ed was raised on a farm near Carleton, NE until moving to Beatrice and graduating from Beatrice High School, class of 1955. He entered the United States Air Force in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1962. He was united in marriage to Leah Lineweber.

Ed joined the Nebraska State Patrol in 1966. He was stationed at Superior for 13 years and transferred to Grand Island in 1979. Ed loved being a State Patrolman and retired in 1993. Following his retirement he served as a Private Detective.

He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Some of his enjoyments were hunting and fishing with his family, attending Husker football games, genealogy, Dale Earnhart, Sr. NASCAR fan, music and solving the world’s problems with his coffee friends at Mid Town Holiday Inn. He was a member of the NRA. Ed’s life was well lived and well loved. He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in memory of Edward.

Donald 'Don' Collmer

Donald ‘Don’ Collmer, 83, of Grand Island, died Saturday, June 2, 2012.

Services will be at a later date and cremation was chosen as Don’s wishes. Don was born icon on February 10, 1929, in Cleveland, OH, the son of Harold and Genevieve (Allen) Collmer.

Don was raised in Cleveland, OH, where he received his high school education. He also attended Berkley University and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University. Don was inducted into the United States Army, serving during the Korean War, serving from October of 1952 to August of 1954. Don was united in marriage to Shari White in 1968.

Following his discharge from the military, Don worked for the Falstaff Brewery in California until he transferred to Birmingham, AL. He also transferred to Columbus, OH, Omaha, NE, and then to Grand Island in 1983 where he retired and he and Shari owned and operated Dad’s Liquor Store on South Locust until 2000.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Shari; children and their spouses, Pat and Sherri Collmer of Marysville, CA, Doug and DeeDee Collmer Marysville, CA, Don Collmer and friend Jackie Nicolari of Litchfield Park, AZ; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Sarah Collmer of Portland, OR; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and John Hancock of Cincinnati.

He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Kylee, Chase, and Trey Collmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Don was a member of United Congregational Church, the Masonic Lodge of Phillips, and the Shrine Temple of Hastings. He enjoyed driving the go carts in the Shriners Motor Patrol and he was an avid Nascar race fan.

Memorials may be made to the Central Nebraska Shrine Club Transportation Fund, the Phillips Masonic Lodge or the United Congregational Church.

Margaret Anne Conner

Margaret Anne Conner, 84, formerly of Grand Island, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at Columbine Care Center in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Memorial services will be 10:00 am. Saturday, September 22, at Trinity United Methodist Church Gollaher Chapel. Rev. George Wheat will officiate. Burial will be at Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.

Margaret Anne Conner was born icon May 10, 1928 at Mankato, Kansas, the daughter of Ross and Alice (Greek) Minor.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 65 years, Leonard; a son, Martin Conner of Forreston, Texas, a son and daughter-in-law, Kenton and Deanna Conner of Mesquite, Texas; and daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Larry Hutsell of Loveland, Colorado.

She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Matthew and Stephanie Hutsell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Christen Bryce; brother Millard Minor and sister, Lucille Minor Coakley.

Anne’s childhood was spent in Central City, moving to Grand Island during her high school years. She graduated in 1946 from Grand Island Senior High School.

Anne met her husband, Leonard, in 1946 and they were joined in marriage at the Methodist Parsonage in Smith Center, Kansas on May 26, 1947.

She and Leonard made Grand Island their home for 60 years. Anne was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday school and led bible studies. She volunteered for many years at the YWCA and for the Grand Island School District. She was a past President of the Grand Island Women’s Club.

Anne loved spending time with her family and friends. She was creative, having enjoyed oil painting and writing. As a writer, Anne authored the Christian book “In the Shadow of His Robe.” Anne and Leonard enjoyed traveling and shared many years of friendship with their ‘kool-aid crowd’ card group.

A memorial fund will be established in memory of Anne.

Billy Lee Culler

Billy Lee Culler, 70, of Grand Island died February 17, 2012 at Grand Island Nebraska Veterans Home.

Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the Veterans Home All Faiths Chapel. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will be in the Veterans Home Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be one hour before service time. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Culler was born icon February 2, 1942 at Portland, Oregon, the son of George and Gladys (Farley) Culler.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Holly Lynn Duffin and her husband, Jason, of Burleson, TX, and Brian Billy Culler of Atlanta, Georgia; and sister, Linda Fouts and brother-in-law, Roy Fouts; aunt, Madeline Keeshan and her husband, Phillip; step granddaughter, Samantha and numerous cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and step father, Ronald Booth.

Billy was raised in Omaha graduating from Omaha South High School in 1961. He entered the United States Army on April 23, 1964 and was honorably discharged April 19, 1966.

He owned and operated One Way Company in Omaha until 2000. Billy was dearly loved by those who knew him and his children are proud of the legacy he left behind.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Grand Island Veterans Home.

Elizabeth A. 'Betty' Curtis

Elizabeth A. ‘Betty’ Curtis, 70, of Grand Island died Friday, October 5, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Betty was born icon November 6, 1941 at Evergreen Park, Illinois, the daughter of Leonard and Elizabeth (Kleinmark) Reno.

Survivors of the immediate family include her son, Tim Curtis and friend, Jill Munson; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Curtis; grandsons, Jacob Curtis and Duane Curtis; and countless dear friends and colleagues.

She is also survived by her beloved four-legged companions, Maggie, Callie, Ben and Abby. If you knew Betty, chances are you have met her furry “kids”.

She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Albert Louis Curtis and son, Thomas Allen Curtis.

Betty grew up, attended school and graduated in Oak Lawn, Illinois. She relocated to Grand Island In 1980.

Betty was the heart and soul of the Grand Island Area Clean Community System for more than 30 years. As the self-proclaimed “Garbage Queen”, Betty was committed to protecting the environment and improving the community, helping to implement paper recycling in the schools, establishing curbside recycling throughout Hall County, and she was instrumental in creating a permanent Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility to serve the region. Betty worked tirelessly throughout central Nebraska to promote environmental education and recycling.

Betty had a special place in her heart for law enforcement and fire fighting professionals, always promoting responsible disposal of household toxins to improve protection of first-responders from household or roadside hazards. For many years, Betty coordinated a Hall County roadside clean-up program and the Hall County Juvenile Alternative Sentencing Program (JASP). She was a long-time member of the Optimist Club, the Groundwater Guardians and Isaak Walton.

Those in Betty’s life experienced her capacity for giving and loved her infectious smile. Strangers often became friends. Friends often became adopted family. Her four “kids” have been placed into homes where they will be loved and spoiled (although perhaps not as much as she did!).

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Central Nebraska Humane Society.

Marnie R. Dalland

Marnie R. Dalland, 45 of Grand Island died Wednesday August 8, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center as a result from complications of being an asthma sufferer most of her life.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Reverend Joseph K. Joseph will officiate.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6-7 p.m. Sunday with a parish rosary at 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.

Marnie’s life will continue as she was an organ donor helping save the lives of those in need.

Marnie was born icon September 17, 1966 at Grand Island the daughter of Dale and Judy (Pokorney) Fillinger.

Survivors include her husband, John; her children, Tyler Dalland of Grand Island, Jacee Dalland and her fiancé Philip Hansen of San Tan Valley, Arizona and Carson Dalland of Grand Island; her father and step-mother, Dale and Sally Fillinger of Grand Island and sister, Micki Flinn of Grand Island.

She is also survived by her granddaughter, Madisen Hansen; nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. Her mother, Judy; sister, Katie Fillinger and uncle, Don Fillinger preceded her in death.

Marnie was raised and received her education in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High, class of 1984. She was united in marriage to Johnny Dalland on August 25, 1989. They continued to make Grand Island their home where she worked for Americold and for Skagway North for 10 years.

Some of Marnie’s enjoyments included scrap-booking, gardening, garage sales, Karaoke, cooking and had a love for animals. She enjoyed being a PTA mom. Most of all she loved being a mother and grandma. Her memory will be cherished by many.
