Robert J. Lambe

Robert J. Lambe, 90, of Grand Island died Thursday, July 4, 2012 at Grand Island with his family by his side.

Celebration of life and burial of ashes will be at a later date in the Central City Cemetery.

All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert was born icon February 9, 1922 at Ulysses, NE, the son of James and Clara (Reinders) Lambe.

He was raised at Ulysses, graduating from Ulysses High School in 1939. Robert married Nadine Alshouse on July 27, 1946. Together they lived in Shelby, NE and Osceola, NE, while farming.

The family moved to Central City in 1954 and Robert began work for Merrick County ASCS Office as the office manager until his retirement in 1985. He served on the City Council and was the Mayor of Central City for 8 years. He was also a volunteer at the hospital for 15 years and also a volunteer with AARP.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ulysses and a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Grand Island

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Nadine; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Terri Lambe of Lincoln and Bernie and Liz of Henderson, Nevada ; daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Bob Radke of Grand Island and Kathy and Jerel Ross of Grand Island; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Judy; brother Patrick; sisters Mary and Alice; and a grandson Tarry.

Memorials are suggested to St. Leo’s Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Patrick D. Langer

Patrick D. Langer, 39 of Grand Island, Nebraska, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island with Reverend Dr. Samuel R. Rathod and Reverend Jay Vetter officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the church in Grand Island. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.

Mr. Langer was born icon December 24, 1972 at Fort Carson, CO the son of Susan (Hartley) Wilkinson and Patrick Long.

Survivors are his wife, Carolyn; sons, Colton and Gavin; his mother, Susan Wilkinson of Marshalltown, IA; his father, Patrick Long of Grand Island; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Peter and Keely Langer of Kearney, NE, Katie and Ben Little of Legrand, IA, Joe Langer and his fiancé, Kelly Brown of Elmwood, NE and Laura Wilkinson of Marshalltown, IA and grandparents, Kathy Hartley of Doniphan, NE and Ambrose and Helen Langer of Spalding, NE.

Other survivors are nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts, cousins and many friends. He is preceded in death by grandfather, Kenneth Hartley and grandmother, Sadie White.

Pat was raised in Spalding moving to Kearney where he graduated from Kearney Catholic, class of 1991. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Lee on August 20, 1993. They made their home in Hastings and Grand Island.

Pat and Carolyn owned and operated Snow’s Floral in Grand Island from 2004-2010. Pat was Manufacturing Operations Manager for Hornady Manufacturing in Grand Island.

He is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served as board chair for Heartland United Way. He and Carolyn co-chaired the 2010 annual fund drive for Stuhr Museum. Pat was a past member of Grand Island Rotary. Some of Pat’s enjoyments included the many family vacations, hunting, fishing, trap shooting and go-carting with his son’s and dad.

A memorial fund will be established in Pat’s name.

Joseph F. Lepant

Joseph F. Lepant, 86 of Grand Island, died Wednesday, May 09, 2012 at the Grand Island Nebraska Veterans Home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Abundant Life Christian Center. Reverend Steve Warriner will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery with military honors rendered by the United Veterans Honor Guard and Nebraska Army National Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Lepant was born icon July 25, 1925 at Anselmo, NE the son of Joseph and Dorothy (Rich) Lepant.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Phyllis; children and their spouses, Dave and Virginia Lepant of Lincoln, Rose and David Haggard of Grand Island, Dora Cunningham of Central City and Jane Lepant of Grand Island; brothers, Jim Lepant of Broken Bow and Ricardo LePante of California; and sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Lyman Sigler of Grand Island.

Those also left to cherish his memory are ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Rita Hulett, Genevieve McCormick and Maxine Dodge.

Joe was raised at Anselmo where he graduated from high school in 1942. He entered the United States Army in 1945, serving with the U.S. Occupational Forces in Italy for 19 months.

Upon returning, he entered the profession of meat cutting, spending 24 years in retail and wholesale meats. He was then employed and traveled central and western Nebraska for a hearing aid company and a food brokerage firm until retirement.

He married Phyllis Parker on June 16, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Church in Broken Bow, NE. They made their home in Grand Island in 1955.

Joe was an active participant in community and church affairs including the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Broken Bow, and serving one term as President of the Grand Island Chapter of the Full Gospel Businessmen. He was a member of Abundant Life Christian Center and Northridge Assembly of God. Joe enjoyed gardening and was a published author, having written children stories, poems and family history articles.

Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Christian School or the donor’s choice.

Pedro "Pete" Longoria
Pedro “Pete” Longoria, Sr., 74 of Grand Island, died Monday, March 12, 2012.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The Reverend Richard L. Piontkowski will celebrate the mass.

Cremation has taken place. A rosary will be recited by the family at 2 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Longoria was born icon September 20, 1937 at Santa Rosa, TX the son of Pedro and Sofia (Zamarripa) Longoria.

Survivors are his special friend, Josie Garcia of Grand Island; his children, Margarita Longoria-Dimas of Lexington, Roy Longoria of Harvard, NE, Pete Longoria, Jr. of Kearney and John Longoria of Harvard, NE; step children, Linda Garcia, Carol Garcia, Jackie Garcia, Gilbert Garcia, Jr., Joe Garcia, Jolene Alvarado, Monica Garcia and David Garcia.

Other survivors are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His parents and sister, San Juana Longoria Perez preceded him in death.

Pete lived in Texas, Hastings and later Grand Island. He worked at Thermo King in Hastings as a welder. He was a musician. He was married to Josie Delgado Garcia for 28 years.

Ruben Moreno Lozoya

Ruben Moreno Lozoya, 50 of Grand Island, formerly of Cozad died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at home with his family by his side.

Services will be 5 p.m. Saturday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Reverend Jonathan Sorensen will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Naica, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Saturday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Ruben was born icon June 5, 1961 at Naica, Chihuahua, Mexico the son of Manuel and Maria (Lozoya) Moreno.

Survivors are his wife, Severiana “Seve”, daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Luis Ruiz and son, Ruben Moreno of Grand Island.

Other survivors are grandchildren, Arianna, Violeta and Gabriel. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Ruben was raised in Mexico coming to the United States in 1988. He was united in marriage to Severiana Alvidrez on July 15, 1983. Ruben worked in Lexington and at Swift in Grand Island.

He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Leland D. 'Lee' Luebbe

Leland D. ‘Lee’ Luebbe, 89, of Grand Island died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at his home, with family by his side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m., with a Rosary starting at 7 at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Luebbe was born icon January 12, 1923, on the family farm near St. Libory, Nebraska, the son of Arthur P. and Bertha (Boltz) Luebbe. He received his education at rural school in Howard County. He was always proud for getting the highest score in Math out of all the students in his school during the state testing. Leland was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed in 1936. Out of his love for Carmen he became a member of the Catholic faith in 1950.

On January 30, 1948 he married Carmen G. Aldana. Leland and Carmen celebrated their 64 th wedding anniversary this year. In the 64 years of marriage, Leland never missed giving Carmen roses on their anniversary.

Leland’s love of Polka’s, Waltz’s and dancing brought him to the Grand Island Liederkrantz where he met the love of his life, Carmen G. Aldana. He moved from the family farm in 1946, to be closer to Carmen. During that time he started work at the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. from 1946 to 1950. He then started work at Union Pacific Railroad from 1950 to 1956. In order to stay close to his family he took a job with Fairacres Dairy from 1956 to 1965. In 1965 he went to work for Chief Industries as the plant manager of the fiberglass department. Leland retired in 1990 from Chief Industries. After retirement he worked at the Grand Island Independent in the circulation department until 1993.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and a past member of the Eagles, Platt-Duetsche and the Elks.

Leland loved watching the activities of all his grandchildren and eating out with his family. He also enjoyed many activities outdoors, including gardening, fishing, hunting, and traveling, especially seeing the countryside and the crops on drives he took. He also loved watching sports.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Carmen (Aldana); daughters and sons in law, Rita and Craig Hand and Judy and Tim Sagvold, all of Grand Island.

Those also left to cherish his memory are five grandchildren and their spouses, Kristin and Paul Watson of Grand Island. Ryan and Teri Hand of Grand Island, Tyler and Ana Iwanski, Dr. Shannon Iwanski and Michael Iwanski, all of Omaha; great grandchildren, Grace and Garrett Watson and Ella Iwanski; brother in law, Richard Daniell of Lincoln; and sisters in law, Trina Torres, Jennie Casarez and Lupe Aldana of Grand Island and Jeannie Luebbe of North Platte.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Verne Luebbe; sisters, Lorraine Marsh, Margarette Eihusen and Lois Daniell.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Elnora M. Lundell

Elnora M. Lundell, 79, of Grand Island, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at her home with her family by her side.

To honor her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday at the United Congregational Church in Grand Island. The Reverend Lonnie Logan will officiate.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Elnora was born icon August 9, 1932, at Faribault, MN the daughter of Fred and Edith (Ray) Schmitz.

Those left to cherish her memory include Marlan, her husband of 59 years; son Steve Lundell Sr. of Grand Island, NE; grandson, Steve Lundell Jr. of Grand island; brothers and their wives, Gerald and Janice Schmitz of Faribault, MN and Donald and Lorraine Schmitz of Akeley, MN; sister and her husband, Florence and Roger Borwege of Medford, MN; and a sister in law, Beverly Schmitz of Helena, MT.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Fred Schmitz.

Elnora grew up and received her education in Faribault, MN. She was united in marriage to Marlan Lundell on April 16, 1953 at Mason City, IA.

She was a member of the United Congregational Church in Grand Island.
