Dario Lopez Olivo

Dario Lopez Olivo, 80, of Grand Island, died Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 20 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The Reverend Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will be in the Nebraska Veterans Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m., with a Rosary at 4 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Dario was born icon on December 19, 1931 at Robstown, TX, the son of John Garcia and Elena Lopez (Trejo) Olivo.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters and their spouses, Mary and Ron Garcia of Wood River and Sandy and Rocky Rush of St. Paul; and brothers and their spouses, John and Carol Olivo of Grand Island, Rudy and Sharon Olivo of Evans, CO, Ruben Olivo of Grand Island and Alfredo Olivo of Las Vegas.

Those also left to cherish his memory are numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; a sister, Concepcion Ostos; and a brother, Oscar Olivo.

Dario grew up in Texas with his family and moved to Omaha in the late 40’s. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served from 1952 to 1954. After his military service, Dario worked for the Union Pacific Railroad.

He enjoyed doing crosswords and spending time watching the horse races.

Memorials are suggested to the Grand Island Veterans Home.

Henrietta B. O'Neal

Henrietta B. O’Neal, 92, of Grand Island, died Thursday, July 5, 2012, at the Wood River Good Samaritan Society.

Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 10 at the United Congregational Church. The Reverend Lonnie Logan will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel.

Henrietta was born icon February 15, 1920, at Grand Island, NE, the daughter of Allen E. and Minnie (Reinecke) Ellsworth. She grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1938.

She married Wayne O’Neal on July 17, 1939 at Central City. Henrietta worked for the Grand Island Daily Independent and was also a secretary as well as superintendent of Sunday school at the First Baptist Church in Grand Island. She was also a secretary at the VA Hospital for many years until her retirement.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the United Congregational Church. Henrietta enjoyed cooking, especially pies, sewing, playing bridge, and loved going to Fonner Park with friends. Her passion was her family and especially her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters and their husbands, Judith Moorberg of Stamford, CN, Jan and Ken George of North Platte, NE, and Barbara and Bob Sutter of Highland Ranch, CO; brothers, A. Gene Ellsworth of Dallas, TX and Robert Ellsworth of Grand Island.

She is also survived by her six grandchildren and their spouses, Mark Moorberg of San Francisco, Anne and Adrian Wentworth-Stanley of London, Heather Stufft of Omaha, Angie and Jeff Weber of Ventura, CA, Ryan and Trista Sutter of Vail, CO and Christopher and Jackie Sutter of Bergish Gladbach, Germany; six great grandchildren, Brooke and Brieya Moorberg, Charles, Olivia and Edward Wentworth-Stanley, Luke and Hayden Stufft and Maxwell and Blakesley Sutter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne, and a sister Virginia Floro.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Lillian Marguerite Ottemoeller

Lillian Marguerite Ottemoeller, 92 of Grand Island died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Tiffany Square Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. Reverend Bob Rhodes will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in the Wiegert Cemetery.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ottemoeller was born icon April 25, 1920 at Omaha the daughter of Karl and Anne (Schlueter) Bockmann.

Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, John Ottemoeller of Lincoln and Gene and Doreen Ottemoeller of Bismarck, ND; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Gordon Knuth of St. Paul, NE; and a sister, Emmy Wiese of Grand Island.

Also left to cherish her memory are five grandchildren, Darla Houdek, Debora Houdek, Denise Campbell, Christopher and Benjamin Ottemoeller; and eight great-grandchildren, Michael, Jeremy and Brandon Houdek, Jesse, Casey and Danny Houdek, and Nicholas and Mathew Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond on June 8, 2009; an infant son, Billy; her parents and grandparents; grandson, Brian Ottemoeller and brother-in-law, Arnold Wiese.

Lill moved with her family to the Belgrade Fullerton area when she was approximately four years old. She grew up and attended school in this area. Later she worked as a practical nurse for the Abbott family in Grand Island.

On October 11, 1942 she was united in marriage to Raymond Ottemoeller. They farmed northeast of Grand Island until moving to Grand Island in 1965.

In early years, Lill and Raymond enjoyed polka dancing at the Platt-Duetsche with family and friends.

After Ray’s death in 2009, she made her home with her son John in Lincoln. Her favorite pastime was sitting on the sun porch, watching the birds and squirrels and listening to polka tapes with her son John.

Lill’s world revolved around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sister and her family. Her memory will be treasured by many.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church.

John J. Pascoe

John J. Pascoe, 55, of Grand Island, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, April 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Abundant Life Christian Center. The Reverend Steve Warriner will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home.

John was born icon on December 6, 1956 at Hebron, NE, the son of Stewart and Marilyn (Gilligan) Pascoe.

John was raised in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1976. He married Shirley Noziska on September 8, 1978 at Grand Island. He worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads as a Mechanic and transmission Specialist.

He loved his job and working on cars. John enjoyed flowers, especially purple lilies. He was addicted to Netflix, especially the programs about cars, and his favorite movies, American Graffiti and Hollywood Nights. John was so strong, even after his two near death motorcycle accidents over the years. He kept on living life to the fullest. Family was always the most important to John, whether it was giving pony rides to the all the children or making sure that absolutely everything was caught on camera or film. He cared so much about everybody, and was the father to the fatherless because he loved all children so much. John cherished his whole family and every moment as if it were his last.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley; his mother Marilyn and her husband Sibby LeBeau; daughters and their husbands, Tricia and Chris Scharff of Hastings, Joannie and Brice Morgan and Jenny and Jeramy Yelli, both of Grand Island.

Those also left to cherish his memory are his brothers and their wives, Jim and Denise Pascoe of Woodland, CA, Tony Pascoe of Cuba, NM, and Tim Pascoe of Lee’s Summit, MO; sisters and their husbands, Paula and Jack Wingfield of Toledo, OR, Marcia and Jay Keown-Rasmussen of Grand Island , Carla and Hank Swanson of Phillips, Lisa and Mike Roy of Elkhorn, Rita and Ken Place of Grand Island and Sheila and Phil Gianfortone of Turlock, CA; and three grandchildren, Colman and Camryn Scharff and Celica Yelli.

He was welcomed into heaven by his father; a nephew Sam Roy; and Shirley’s parents, William and Marie Noziska.

Memorials are suggested to family to be designated at a later date.

Barbara Ann Patterson

Barbara Ann Patterson, 74, of Grand Island, died Monday, September 3, 2012 at Golden Living Center, Grand Island Park Place.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grand Island City Cemetery. The Rev. Brian Pielstick will officiate.

All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.

Barbara was born icon July 30, 1938 at Wichita Falls, Texas, the daughter of George W. and Ileta (Scott) McLain.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Brian Pielstick of Grand Island.

She is also survived by three grandchildren, Sarah Rose and her husband, Matthew of Marshall, Nathan and his fiancée, Stephanie Hahn of Grand Island and Hannah Pielstick of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Barbara was raised, attended school and graduated in Fort Worth, Texas. She was united in marriage to James Boyd Patterson in 1967. In 1987, she moved to Grand Island to be closer to her family. Barbara was a member of Harvest Time Baptist Church.

As she was mostly housebound, she enjoyed the visits from family and friends. She will be remembered for her generosity of spirit and the love she had for her grandchildren and her animals.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

June I. Petzoldt

June I. Petzoldt, 93, of Grand Island died Friday, May 4, 2012 at Lebensraum Retirement Home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church. Reverend Chad Boling will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mrs. Petzoldt was born icon June 23, 1918 at Grand Island, the daughter of Walter and Darthulia (Tucker) Neal.

Her husband Alfred and son Bruce preceded her in death.

Survivors are her daughter-in-law, Candy Petzoldt of Decatur, Alabama; grandchildren, Brian Allen and Michelle Petzoldt of Winside, NE, Scott Michael and Bridgett Petzoldt of Gretna, NE and Sara and Jordan Lane-Miller of Boulder, CO; step-grandchildren, Jeff and Christi Rippen of Decatur, Alabama, Rikki and Paul Rippen-Herman and Melissa and Michael Cain of Athens, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Morgan Petzoldt, Courtney Petzoldt, Grayson Petzoldt, Mila Lane-Miller, Nash Rippen, Justin Rippen, Chole Cain and Cody Cain and dear friends, Bea and Dennis Fiala of Grand Island and Sharon Manning of Grand Island.

She was welcomed into heaven by her parents; her husband, Alfred; her son, Bruce Allen Petzoldt; an infant brother, Jack Neal and half brother, Bud Tucker.

June was baptized in the Methodist Faith in Grand Island and has been a member for over 75 years. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High, class of 1936. She worked for Walgreens Soda Fountain and was shipping clerk for Brown Fruit Company during WWII.

She married Alfred Petzoldt on June 10, 1943, in St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. They moved to a farm east of Grand Island living there for 18 years before moving into Grand Island in 1965. She worked as a waitress at Stockman’s Café for many years. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Milo’s Office Machines, Copy Cat and for 12 years at Econo Foods as a food demonstrator until 1998.

She is a member of First United Methodist Church and church circles for many years. Other memberships include the Harmony Extension Club for over 18 years, Platt Duetsche and Beta Sigma Phi Masters Chapter. She volunteered at the Lutheran Hospital thrift shop and made lap robes for the Veterans Hospital and Veterans Home. June enjoyed square dancing for many years.

June walked the walk of life by sharing her love for others. She was known to say, “Hasn’t God been good to us?” Her memory will be cherished by many.

Memorials are suggested to either First United Methodist Church, Edith Abbott Library or to the Nebraska Children’s Home.

Mary G. Strong Ramirez

Mary G. Strong Ramirez, 64 of Grand Island, died Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The Reverend Jonathan Sorensen will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Thursday with a rosary beginning at 5 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mary was born icon August 28, 1947 at Del Rio, Texas the daughter of Manuel and Dominga (Valdez) Ramirez.

Survivors are her children and their spouses, Kathy and Erasmo Chavez, Teresa and Martin Estrada, Rosie Gonzalez, Alfredo Ramirez; daughter-in-law, Melissa DeLeon; brother, Joe Ramirez all of Grand Island; sisters, Rosa Wing of Grand Island and Estella Mendez of Hastings.

Other survivors are 17 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including her close nephew, Joe Ramirez.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Jimmy Ramirez; her parents; six brothers and sisters and four nephews.

Mary lived most of her adult life in the Grand Island area. She enjoyed cooking Mexican food. She was always there to help her family. Mary was very caring and loving; always having an open door and open heart.
